Relationship between Children's Appearance-Reality Distinction and Perspective-Taking Ability
Lim, Ha-Kyung ; Lee, Kyung-Nim ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 10, issue 1, 2001, Pages 15~31
The main purpose of this study was to explore the development of knowledge about the appearance-reality distinction and the perspective-taking ability and to examine its relation. The subjects were 104 children, 13 boys and 13 girls each at the age of 3, 4, 5, and 6. The performance of four age groups were compared on illusion appearance-reality, color appearance-reality, perceptual perspective-taking, and cognitive perspective-taking tasks. The data were collected by individual testing and analyzed by the two-way ANOVA with repeated measures, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation Coefficients. The major results were as follows. 1. In children's understanding of the appearance-reality distinction, significant differences were found between 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds, and 5-year-olds and 6-year-olds. While between 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds showed no such differences. Besides, gender did not affect the children's understanding of the appearance-reality distinction. 2. There was significant difference in performance according to the type of tasks. That is 3-year-olds perform better illusion appearance-reality distintion than color appearance- reality distintion, while 4, 5, 6 year old children's performance of color appearance-reality and illusion appearance-reality distinction showed no difference. 3. In children's ability of perceptual perspective-taking, significant difference was found between 3, 4, 5-year-olds and 6-year-old children. And in ability of cognitive and perspective-taking, significant difference was found between 3, 4-year-olds and 6-year-old children. Besides, gender did not affect the children's perceptual and cognitive perspective-taking. 4. The color appearance-reality distinction and perceptual perspective-taking showed significant correlation. That is, the children of high grade for perceptual perspective-taking were better understanding of color appearance-reality distinction.
Effects of dipping syrups prepared with isomaltooligosaccharides on the Yackwa quality
Lee, Kyong-Ae ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 10, issue 1, 2001, Pages 33~39
The effects of dipping syrups prepared with isomaltooligosaccharides on the characteristics of Yackwa were investigated. The dipping syrups were prepared replacing sucrose with 0, 25 and 50% isomaltooligosaccharide. Physical and sensory characteristics of Yackwa were evaluated. Isomaltooligosaccharides increased dehydration rate and increased absorption rate of dipping syrups. Yackwas dipping in the syrup containing isomaltooligosaccharides were more acceptable than those with sucrose syrup. The acceptability was significantly correlated with shinness(p<.01), moistness(p<.05), adhesiveness(p<.05), cohesiveness(p<.01), roasted taste(p<.0l) and sweetness(p<.05). Therefore, isomaltooligosaccharides might be a good alternative for sucrose in making dipping syrup of Yackwa.

Park, Hyun-Ok ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 10, issue 1, 2001, Pages 83~91
Currently, obtaining information about the housing studies through the internet web sites is one of the outstanding mediums. Those are of the housings, architecture, interior design, furniture products, hotels and its journals, etc., and out of all those informations are the highly expected value of use. But. it may causes the public users to experience a negative effect, because many of those informations provided on the internet web sites related to the housing studies/informations are not providing an equal quality of information. And measuring the quality is also not easy. This study focuses on the establishment of evaluation criterion for the housing information-related internet web sites. In such a vein, it proposes a clear model to evaluate the information qualities with the 43 questionnaires / examining items. To test the questionnaires/rating items, the analysis has been implemented which has shown the reciprocal effect between the 2 major factors. One major factor with 4 variables on the information searches are (1) the accuracy/reliability of contents and techniques, (2) the design of a picture and communication, (3) the readability and security, and (4) the security of private information, and the other factor with 3variables on the additional services are (1) the diversities of contents and ease of orderings, (2) the abilities of search and e-mail, and (3) the events and after services. This study/rating model will provide the users with a fundamental material in evaluating the quality of housing information on the internet web sites.

Kweon, Soo-Ae ; Choi, Jong-Myoung ; Kim, Eun-Young ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 10, issue 1, 2001, Pages 101~111
The purpose of this study was to investigate using and evaluative criteria for purchasing of sleepwear in winter. Subjects were 523 males and females aged from twenties to fifties, living in Chongju and Taejon. For data analysis, frequency, descriptive analysis, t-test, and F-test were used. The results are as follows. First, the ownership of sleepwear was sweat suits with zippered top, pajamas, T-shirts/pants, underwear, and nightgown in order. The mean of using sweat suits was used the highest, and subjects used more home wear than sleepwear in winter. Second, the using or sleepwear had a significant difference in cold-sensitiveness and body types. Cold-sensitive group used sweat suit and T-shirts/pants more than cold-insensitive group. Also, groups who are thin wore sweat suit the most while groups who are corpulent, used underwear the most when they slept. Third, subjects, who are married women and use bed, used nightgown, but pajamas were used by groups who are older, married, and professional. Sweat suits and T-shirts/pants were used the most by single aged twenties. Forth, consumers considered the wearing comfort when they purchased sleepwear for winter, and they evaluated washing/management, fabric, design/style, economic, service, brand, and others' response in order, for judging the quality of sleepwear. Also, the evaluative criteria had a significant difference in demographic variables such as sex, occupation, and marital state. These results implied that sleepwear would be needed for winter in terms of behavioral temperature regulation. Especially, cold-sensitive and thin group would wear knitted and two-piece sleepwear for thermal comfort when they sleep in winter. Also, Using and evaluative criteria of sleepwear would be different in demographic characteristics. For winter, sleepwear should be develop based on physiologic as well as demographic variables.

The purpose of this study was to investigate clothing behavior and ornaments wear of university students. The subject of this study consists of 241 college students who were attended in Kongju National University. SPSSWIN Program was utilized to calculated frequency(N), mean value(M) and standard deviation(SD) for statistical analysis. Differences among the populations were examined through T-test, F-test,
-test. The results of this study were as follow : 1. Clothing behavior of university students had significant difference according to sex, grade. In general, female students showed higher score than did male students in clothing interest, clothing conformity, self-estimation about clothing, clothing dependence, clothing aesthetic, clothing modesty, A first-year students had high tendency in clothing interest. 2. The wear of ornaments had significant difference according to variables. Buying the ornaments, most of students sot information in show window and emphasized on design. Male students wanted to have the ornaments of shoes, watch, hat & necklet, but female students wanted to have the ornaments of shoes, earring, necklet & hairpin. 3. Clothing behavior has Influenced university students' ornaments wear. The university students who appeared to be interested in clothes were apparently influenced by peers when selecting ornaments. Ornaments were usually bought in the department store, while belts were among the most popular choices. Students who stressed color when purchasing ornaments showed a high level of interest in and dependence on clothes. On the basic of these results, we can conclude that university students' taste in clothing behavior and use of ornaments wear depend on several different factors. Therefore, it is possible to outline the shift in clothing attitudes during adolescence. In order to understand university students' behaviour concerning clothes, much guidance and various studies on the subject are much recommended.
