The Role and Tasks of Family Science in the Probation and Parole System
Lee, Jung-Yeon ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 1~11
This paper was written to present the recent trend of juvenile delinquency within the context of family system and to provide the role and tasks of Family Science in the area of Probation and Parole System in Korea. Since Family Science provides knowledges and skills to help for both adolescents and their families by improving interactional functions, the role of Family Science was focusing more on comprehensive and integrated perspectives. The tasks of Family Science, especially, in family life education, family therapy, and family policy, were as follows: 1) to prevent recurrence of misbehavior by family life education. 2) to draw the cooperation with the judicial system. 3) to provide the advanced course for volunteers. 4) to perform crime prevention education for normal adolescents. 5) to join the official education for civil service personnel. 6) to manage group-homes after the completion of the probation period.
The Full-time Housewives Support Policy from the Perspectives of Human Resource Development and Utilization
Kim, Seon-Mi ; Lee, Ki-Young ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 13~29
This study was performed to discuss how to develop policies to support social participation by full-time housewives, from the perspectives of human resource development and utilization. This study focused on three areas of potential human resource development: (a) labor force participation (b) social education (c) volunteerism. It analyzed the related "social infrastructures," especially labor market situation and child care systems. The current governmental policies and other social programs implemented by various institutions as well as the relevant literatures were reviewed. The preliminary policy proposals outlined in this study were evaluated by the policy developers and experts through several hearings and discussions. Programs proposed from this study were as follows : (a) programs to support housewives who wish to find employment or create a self-owned business, (b) educational programs exclusively offered for full time housewives, and (c) programs to award certificates and rewards and to create paid employment tied to volunteer work. In addition, the ways how to ameliorate the gender discrimination by changing the labor and social environments and institutionalizing the child care were discussed.
Analysis on Financial Status of Small Family Business according to Socio-Economic Variables
Bae, Mi-Kyeong ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 31~43
The purpose of this study was to examine the financial status of the small business households, and to analyze their investment behaviors according to socio-economic variables like age, income, education, job satisfaction, and region. The size of total sample was 2167 with basis of data analysis of Korean Household Panel Study from Daewoo Economic Research Center. Descriptive Statistics were used to analyze their financial status according to the socio-economic variables. The results showed that small business family's financial status was differentiated according to age, income, job satisfaction, and region. Households' investment on the primary financial institute such as bank was differentiated by income, level of education, and job satisfaction. The amount of investment on secondary financial institute such as mutual fund was differentiated by income, age, and region. The households' investment for insurance was affected by all socio-economic variables except region and not significantly different according to socio-economic variables for stock and bonds. The amount of net-asset for households was affected by the level of education, age, and income and the amount of debt most by age and income. The results of this study was useful to develop the estimation tool for the small business households credit and also provides the basic informations for the financial assistance of those households.
A Study on the Crotch Length for Dance Movement
Yoon, Sung-Hwa ; Lee, Young-Ju ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 45~58
The purpose of this study was to offer a more functional slacks by analyzing its crotch length. The result of the study were as follows : Regarding the feeling of wearing and appearance, the P2 b style which measures the crotch length starting from the waist line passing around the iliac spine was the most highly evaluated. This suggested that the functionality of dance movement was more influenced by the position of the waist line not by the crotch length measurement. Since the front and rear center lines of the crotch could not be flown if the waist line of slacks was positioned high, both the crotch and abdominal part might be clogged or tightened when dancers made large dance movements or bended their upper bodies forward. In conclusion, slacks for more functional dance movement should be manufactured focusing on the location of the waist line rather than on the crotch length.
A Study on the Recognition and Satisfaction of Lower Body Shape of Male College Students
Lee, Young-Ju ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 59~67
The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and satisfaction of the lower body shapes of male college students. The subjects in this study were 178 male college students. The results were as follows: 1. The degree of recognition and satisfaction of girth items in lower part of the body scored average. Subjects tended to be dissatisfied with their height. 2. The degree of satisfaction of waist girth and weight was influenced by the real body size than the degree of recognition. And abdomen girth, hip girth, ankle girth, leg length, hight, crotch length were affected by the degree of recognition than the real body size. 3. Subjects were more satisfied with standard lower body type than with lean and obese ones.
A Study on the Application of Fashion-Related Internet Web Sites and Their Evaluation
Kim, Hee-Sook ; Na, Mi-Hee ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 69~78
The purpose of this study was to investigate the application of fashion-related web sites and their evaluation. 76 college students major in fashion design were surveyed and the evaluation criteria were classified into five categories such as the accuracy/reliability, the design of a picture, the ease of application, the communication/security, and additional services. The results of this study were as follows: 1. College students used web sites mostly to search for fashion trend information from magazine and fashion information sites. 2. While the media site was excellent in the evaluation criteria such as the accuracy/reliability, the design of a picture and the communication/security, the fashion information site was excellent in the evaluation criteria such as the accuracy/reliability, communication/ security and additional services. 3. The media site and the fashion information site generally ranked high and the fashion brand site ranked low in most evaluation items. 4. By the results of ANOVA, 12 items showed significant differences out of the total 19 items. 5. Out of the total evaluation items, the design of a picture ranked highest and the external link function ranked lowest.
The Effect of Dynamic Characteristics of Knitted Fabrics on the Clothing Pressure of Foundation Wear
Jung, Meung-Sun ; Ryu, Duck-Hwan ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 79~93
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dynamic characteristics of knitted fabrics on the clothing pressure of foundation. Five knitted fabrics of foundation were selected by different fiber types and blended ratios for the study. The dynamic characteristics of foundation wears made with five different fabrics were measured by KES-FB system method. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The tensile linearity and resilience of f1 were lower than those of other samples. While the tensile resistances of f1, f2 and f4 samples were high, the coefficients of friction of them were low. The bending rigidity and geometric roughness of f5 were higher than the others. 2. The clothing pressure of f3 all-in-one sample was the highest, and followed by f5, f4, f2 and f1, respectively. This result showed that the compression resilience affected on the clothing pressure greatly. 3. In terms of the clothing pressure by posture, the clothing pressure at
bending posture was the highest and followed by that at standing and one-leg-up, respectively. The back part of abdomen was pressured most at
The Perception and Need for Nutrition Counseling of the Adults Living in Daejeon
Ly, Sun-Yung ; Kim, Kyeung-Eun ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 1, 2002, Pages 95~106
This study was done to investigate the perception and need of the nutrition counseling of the people living in Daejon. Results were as follows: Nutrition knowledge score increased with education level. It showed tendency that women's scores were higher than men's. Only 15.5% of the participants were experienced in nutrition counseling mostly with medical doctor or nurse in the general hospital. Their satisfaction level was above average, which means positive reaction on nutrition counseling. In the case of the people who paid nutrition counseling fee, they thought that fee level was reasonable. Participants whose education level was higher thought less frequently that the nutrition counseling fee charged currently in the general hospital was expensive. The prevalent contents they want in the nutrition counseling included the prevention and the treatment of the specific disease and food safety (pesticides and food-born illness). As means of nutrition counseling they preferred internet (or PC) and interview. The higher the education status and the less the age, the higher preference, there was for internet or PC. As a source of nutrition knowledge, participants gave high credit on the professional books, academic journals, and advices from dietitian, nutritionist, medical doctor and pharmacist; in the other hand, they gave low credit on the newspaper, magazine, TV or radio, and advices from family or relatives, and friends. They thought most of the adult-onset disease (especially obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes) were closely related to diet. However, percentage of the participants who thought that diet and kidney disease were related was relatively low.
