Self-consciousness Improvement Effect of Nonstructured Developmental Art Therapy on a Developmental Disordered Child -A Study on the Single Case-
Kang, Young-Ja ; Kang, Soung-A ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 321~334
This study is a non-structured developmental art-therapy case study having done 134 times of total treatments for a 12 years old girl, having extremely poor verbal communication ability and sociality comparing to her ability in perception and motion. I presumed the cause of this gap between perceptibility and the communication ability was a problem related to self-consciousness. To cure the problem, I provided treatment programs designed to use material which can create a stable and reliable environment and can give body experiences such as painting and play-dough. As the treatment programs progressed, I found she had changed gradually to lead the game by herself and to express her favorite colors and shapes. Also she became to be able to express her experience as a simple word and to response short answers for questions.
Variables Influencing on Internet Addiction of Adolescents
Lee, Jung-Yeon ; Choe, Young-Seon ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 335~346
The purpose of this study was to investigate how much adolescents use the internet and how much they are addicted to the internet, and to examine the relative effect of the personal and family related variables on the internet addiction. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey given to 420 students of middle school in Kwangju province. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, stepwise multi-regression analysis, Cronbach's
, and Pearson's correlations coefficient. The major findings obtained from this study were as follows: 1. The proportion of internet addiction of adolescents was 9.1%. 2. Parent's control, positive family emotion and self-efficacy were proved to be the most significant variables. The internet addiction increased as the score of parent's control got higher, and the scores of the positive family emotion and the self-efficacy lower. 3. Because the positive family emotion was found to be a very important factor in determining internet addiction, this research proposes that the further family life education program should be developed to facilitate the normal family functioning in relations with preventing internet addiction.

Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 347~355
The purpose of this study was to find possible solutions to the aged-related problem that is emerging as one of serious social issues in Korea by investigating the images young people have toward the aged. The questionnaire-based survey for this study was conducted with 643 middle school students representing teens and 523 undergraduates representing young people in the twenties, who were 592 from Daegu and 574 from Gwangju. It was carried out from December 2000 to March 2001. The data were analyzed in frequency(N), percentage(%), mean(M) and standard deviation(SD) through the SPSSWIN 10.0 program,
and reliability test. The findings are summarized as follows. 52.5% of respondents reported that they had the experience in living together with their grandparents, while the number of respondents currently living together with their parents just accounted for 17.6%. In the question about the sense of value for family life, it was shown that the traditional idea that an eldest son or other son has the duty of supporting parents was positively changed to one that any of sons or daughters may support parents. The entire image toward the aged appeared to be positive with the mean value of 3.62. Things associated with the aged were the respect-for-aged house and a stick in that order. The images young people perceive towards the aged were largely divided into the 13 items image including the community centers for the aged.
A Study on the Influencing Factors on Children's Academic Achievements - Environmental Factor or Family Structure?
Kim, Young-Hee ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 357~365
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the environmental factors and the family structure on the academic achievements of their children. Among various environmental factors, the family income, the affective relationship between mother and child, and the mother's educational involvement are considered. Total of 164 mothers with children attending elementary school completed the structured questionnaires. The degree of educational involvement of single mothers was lower than that of mothers of both parents families. In order to analyze factors that affect children's academic achievement, the path regression was performed. The family income and the mother-child affective relationship were found to have indirect effects on the academic achievements of elementary school students through maternal involvement in their children's education.

Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 367~380
This study tries to search and analyze empirically the clothing merchandise purchase motivation and behavior made by foreign visitors who bought clothes as tour memorials in South Korea. To make a empirical study we made survey research and evaluated 30 items for the survey of clothing purchase motivation and 25 items for the survey of the importance and satisfaction revealed at the time of purchase with the standard of Likert 5 point. We had chosen 614 sample participants including 176 English speakers, 211 Japanese speakers, and 277 Chinese speakers among those foreign tourists who had purchased clothing materials at the Dongdaemun Shopping Mall. The result of analysis is as follows : As the result of factor analysis about the clothing merchandise purchase, we had 6 factors. They are (1)impulse, (2)utility, (3)fashionableness, (4)tour commemoration (5)psychology (6)economy. As the result of cluster analysis based on the standard of selected 6 factors of clothing merchandise purchase motivation, we could divide three groups such as (1)the pursuit type of clothing merchandise purchase, (2)the pursuit type of recreation of feeling (3)the pursuit type of tour memorial. As the result of analysis on the items of purchased clothing merchandise, the highest frequency of purchase was made by T-shirt, then by the order of sweater, blouse, and aloha shirt, pants, and jacket. In regard to the importance of items related to clothing merchandise, the highest importance was made by design, then by the order of price, size, color and utility, and style. In regard to the items related to the service of shopping mall, the highest satisfaction was made by the convenience of business hour. Meanwhile, the lowest satisfaction was made by the inconvenience of fitting room, the speaking and by ability of foreign languages by sales agents.

Song, Kyung-Hun ; Baik, Chun-Eui ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 391~400
This study was intended to research the dyeing with natural walnut hull extracts over cotton, flax, rayon, wool, nylon and silk. We studied the dyeing conditions and mordant effect, and observed dyeability. The result are as follows: 1. In the dyeability with natural walnut hull extracts, protein and polyamide fiber has more dye uptake rather than cellulose fiber. 2. The optimum condition in the dyeing with natural walnut hull extracts was at
, 12%(o.w.b) concentration in 90 mins. 3. In the case of the dyeability by repeated dyeing number, the dyeability of good dyeability fiber is improved in the first or second dyeing, but that of bad dyebality fiber is improved when it is dyed more repeatedly. 4. In the dyeablity treated with mordants, Al, Sn, and Mg don't have any differences, but Cu and Fe have some difference. The color of Fe mordant is green and the color of Cu mordant is blue. 5. In the case of the color fastness with mordant treatment, nylon is better than silk and wool in color fastness to washing but silk is better than nylon and wool in color fastness to light.

Kwon, Sook-Hee ; Kim, Hye-Jung ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 11, issue 4, 2002, Pages 401~413
The purpose of this study was to survey the high school girls' alteration of school uniforms concerned about both size satisfaction and dissatisfaction and to improve the size of school uniforms. The subjects were 1,007 girls attending high schools in Cheju. The questionnaire survey was done from July 8th to Sep. 21th, 2001. According to the survey, 67.3 percentile of the interviewed girls alterated their uniforms. It was appeared that they alterated skirts more than blouses as a way of shortening. The main reason of alteration is ill-fitting uniforms, most of girls had a positive idea to alterate uniforms. Dissatisfaction of uniforms is mainly caused by the large size not by the small size. It was appeared that dissatisfaction rate of skirt was higher than that of blouse. The large part of dissatisfaction was appeared on waist circumference of blouse and hem circumference of skirt. The girls who experienced alterating the part of uniforms such as waist circumference of skirt, skirt length and hem circumference had high satisfaction rate. And a result of analyzing the level of satisfaction with uniforms-size-satisfaction/dissatisfaction showed the significant differences in fashion, factors-aesthetics and factors-activity of skirt and blouse.
