Adolescents' Types of Sexual Attitude and Their Perception of Sexual Abuse Incidents
Yi, Yeong-Sug ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 709~720
The purpose of this study is to provide practical information which can prevent the adolescents from sexual derailment by identifying types of sexual attitudes and their perception of sexual abuse incidents. The results are as followings; 1. The sexual attitudes were grouped into three types: passive type, active chaser, and conservative introvert. Most adolescents belonged to passive type and least to trend of chaser. The results showed that Korean adolescents tended to be passive to the matter of sex. They also had different perceptions to sexual attitude and sexual abuse incidents in relation to their sexual attitude type, sex and grade. Thus, sex education with different contents and approaches in relation to their sexual attitude type, gender and age seems to be effective. 2. Majority of the adolescents thought sexual abuses could take place at anytime and anywhere. Belief that the offender would be a male and the victim would be a female was most common. Most respondents thought the offender would be responsible for sexual abuse, and that the offender would be a male. Most were the replies that one would report the offender and go to counselling center for help. Although these replies are very desirable, there are doubts that if they would be able to behave that way in the actual situation. That is because it is hard to get help from counselling center due to the system and the lack of counselors. Therefore, it is essential to improve the system to make it possible to give practical help to adolescents.
Parents' Cultural Beliefs about Children's Success in School
Lee, Ju-Lie ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 721~736
Parents' beliefs about what child's qualities are associated with success in school were studied among Korean and Western society communities' parents. Parents from all groups agreed that four domains of a child's characteristics(cognitive qualities, social qualities, negative temperament, and dutifulness) had the major impact on school success, either positively or negatively. Parents from all groups indicated that non cognitive qualities were important or more important than cognitive factors. Cultural differences were found in the way the qualities clustered together and in the emphasis parents placed on specific qualities or domains of qualities.

Kim, Hye-Soon ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 737~747
The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of preschoolers' cognitive ability, parenting behavior, and attachment to their mothers and teachers on delay of gratification of preschoolers. The participants of this study were 116 mothers and their 15 teachers of 3-6 year olds from 2 day-care centers in Seoul. T-test, F-test, Correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis. First, the result of this study showed that preschoolers' delay of gratification by cognitive ability was significant to only motor intelligence. Second, preschoolers' delay of gratification showed positive correlation with warm-acceptance of parenting. Third, preschoolers' delay of gratification by attachment to their mothers was statistically significant, but it was not significant to their teachers. Fourth, the effect of preschoolers' intelligence, parenting behavior, and attachment to their mothers and teachers on delay of gratification was statistically significant to mothers' warm-acceptance(
=.24, p<.05) and was negatively significant to mothers' permissiveness(.

Kim, In-Hwa ; Yoo, Jung-Ja ; Lee, Yun-Jung ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 785~794
This is an empirical research on the effect of the product placement advertisement on the consumption behavior of college students. A structured survey to 342 students in and near Seoul shows that life style of the students significantly matters to the effect. That is, beauty-oriented students are more sensitive to the PPL than other student groups (i.e., career-oriented, saving-oriented, leisure-oriented, or freedom-oriented students). On the other hand, the freedom-oriented students are not sensitive to the PPL at all. Some statistical methods including factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed in order to get those results.
The late 19th century Japanese folk culture which Korean Embassy experienced - Focused on Japanese folk culture recognition of Ki-Su Kim(金錡秀) -
Jeon, Seong-Hee ; Park, Chun-Sun ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 795~803
This paper discusses the late nineteenth-century Korean intellectuals' understanding of Japanese customs on the basis of Ki-Su Kim(金綺秀)'s records. Ki-Su Kim was conservative on his inspection and observation trip to Japan Even though he was loyal to Chinese philosophy, he expressed his great interest when he was reluctant to see the Western technology flowered in Japan because it is not mentioned in Confucianism(朱子學). However, he, like mordern scholars in the later period of the Chosun dynasty, took an objective view of the military matters, such as the military training of soldiers, weapons, and others. On the one hand, he appreciated the western garment in that it, fitting the human body perfectly, makes people comfortable. In the later period of the Chosun dynasty, the Koreans had a sense of their superiority to the Japanese and held them in contempt, which had been rooted in the Japanese invasion of Chosun in the year of Imjin(AD 1592). Even around AD 1870, the Koreans regarded the Japanese as a barbarian or a savage, even though the Japanese had attempted to modernize their country with the introduction of the Western civilization since the renovation of Meizi(明治).

Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 14, issue 5, 2005, Pages 833~846
The purpose of this study is to find out the various impressions that tone-on-tone coloration of shirts and ties gives. This experiment was based on the
factorial designs; colors (purple and green), shirt tones (vivid, light, dull, and dark), tie tones (vivid, light, dull, and dark) and perceivers' genders (male and female). The materials in the experiment developed for this study were composed of various stimuli and the response scales for each stimulus. The stimuli were 32 upper body photographs, which were color printed by CAD system (4D-box program). We unified those colors of shirts and ties, and then made shirt and tie tone different. 27 bi-polar adjectives, each of which was graded into seven in its degree, were used to evaluate the impression. The subjects of this research were 192 male and 192 female college students in Gyeongnam province including Jinju City. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analyzing methods were one-way ANOVA and LSD test. The items of the adjectives were classified into 5 impression dimensions; potency, activeness, attractiveness, visibility and tenderness. In conclusion the impression through matching shirts and ties could be varied by the colors and the tones of shirts and ties. This study can be used as the basic color data in the males' clothes market which gradually pursuits high-quality, personality, and variety.
