This study investigated the effect of householder's occupation on the debt structures of households. Household debts were categorized into six types according to borrowing sources: debts from banks, other financial institutes, employers, private sources, Gye, and retailers. Householder's occupations were classified into four groups: full-time employees, employers, farmers & fishermen, and part-time employees. The data came from the 1996 Korean Household Panel Study. It was found that the rates of holding each types of debt and the debt amounts were different according to householder's occupation. The human and economic resources to overcome the possible household debt problems were also different by the householder's occupation.
Changes of Handle and Total Appearance Value on Waterproof and Water Vapor Permeable Coated Fabrics by Repeated Washing
Cho, Ji-Hyun ; Ryu, Duck-Hwan ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 9, issue 1, 2000, Pages 33~45
The handle were observed by objective and subjective method as the washing was repeated for 4 kinds(sample A, B, C, D) of materials which have different water vapor transmission, and the change of water vapor transmission each others. The results of factor analyses for 18 polar adjective words on subjective handle test yielded 4 factors, that were 'elastic property', 'surface property', 'thickness and weight property' and 'thermal and rigid property'. The surface properties were deteriorated remarkably as washing was repeated and significant difference were observed. Compared with the primary hand value for each materials, the statistical difference of samples was shown at Koshi and Fukurami measured by the KES-FB system. Koshi decreased for all the materials after repeated washing, and Fukurami had a tendency to increase for all the materials in proportion to repeated washing. Significant difference of total hand value wasn't shown in repeated washing number, but in fabric types.

An Ecological Approach to Analyzing Variables in the Parenting Stress of the Working Mothers
Kim, Ki-Hyun ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 9, issue 1, 2000, Pages 71~84
The objective of this research is to investigate the relation between the parenting stress, recognized by the working mothers, and associated variables systematically. For the purpose, I analyzed the demographic of the working mothers and surrounding variables at the levels of microsystem, mesosystem, and macrosystems, to relate with respect to the parenting stress problem. The research composes the sample space of working mothers having children less than 6 years old. The data were analyzed by the statistical method based on frequency, percentile, Pearson's correlation, hierachical and multiple regression. The main results of the research can be summarized as follows: According to the independent effects of diverse ecological systematic variables, there are shown that 11 independent variables can describe about 55.6% of the parenting stress of the working mothers. Among these variables, 'satisfaction about the child care' is the most significant factor, which covers about 34.5%. Additionally, the next significances are observed from such variables as 'temperament of children' (8.2%), 'satisfaction of marriage' (5.1%), 'support of spouse' (1.5%), 'level of education' (1.9%) and so on. In conclusion, it is strongly recommended to compensate and restructure the child care systems more systematically, to afford more reliable parenting environment to the dual earner mothers and fathers and children simultaneously.

Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 9, issue 1, 2000, Pages 97~106
We investigated clothing consumers' perception of benefits and risks on internet shopping and tried to identify the perceptual differences according to presence of real experiences of internet shopping, intention to buy clothings using the internet, clothing items, and demographic variables. A total of 441 people aged of twenties and thirties were surveyed for analysis. The mean values, standard deviation, Student's t-test, paired t-test, ANOVA and multiple range test were used for statistical analysis. The results of this study included: 1. Clothing consumers perceived the internet shopping as a convenient, time-saving method, and an easy way to compare clothing items, but not a cheap tool. The most highly perceived risk was inability to identify the size of clothing item, followed by shortage of stock, delivery problem, color, textiles, after-service, and exposure of personal informations in a decreasing order. 2. Those who had real experiences of internet shopping or who had intention to use it tended to perceive more benefits and less risks on the internet shopping. 3. Perception of risks and benefits differed according to the clothing items and demographic variables.

A Study on the Ornaments Wear of Adolescents - Focusing on the Life Style and Clothing Behavior -
Choi, Eun-Young ; Jean, Kyung-Ran ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 9, issue 1, 2000, Pages 137~152
The purpose of this study was to investigate the disposition of adolescents in their ornament wearing pattern associate with their life style and clothing behavior. The subject of this study consists of 345 middle and high school girls living in Chung-Nam Province and Taejon Metropolitan City. SPSS/PC+ program was utilized to calculated frequency(N), mean value(M) and standard deviation(SD) for statistical analysis. Differences among the populations were examined through f test, ANOVA. The results of this study reveals that the ornaments wearing patterns are significantly different according to their life style and clothing behavior as follows: 1. Correlation between the wear of ornaments and the life style: School girls who pursue the modernistic life style prefer the fashionable ornaments (e.g. sunglasses) and they are always in contact with the latest information. On the contrary, school girls who pursue the practical life style emphasize on the practical use when they purchase the ornaments, e.g. umbrella. School girls having romantic or passive nature have a preference for the brand name and brand image of the ornaments and they in general would like to buy ornaments such as the bracelets. 2. Correlation between the wear of ornaments and the clothing behavior: School girls having sympathetic nature and being deeply interested in clothing put a stress on the latest fashion of the ornaments. They usually want to buy fashionable ornaments such as the cellular phone, beeper and sunglasses. Subjects who estimate themselves by their garments are sensitive to the price of the ornaments while aesthetes emphasize the brand image of the ornaments. Chaste school girls put their emphasis on the quality of the ornaments and they most want to have functional hair bands. Following suggestions can be made based on the discussions above: It is necessary for us to have correct understanding about the correlation between the ornaments and clothing of school girls in order to lead them to have appropriate clothing behavior. Furthermore, it is required to construct a bridge linking a course of study to rational habits guidance which will provide us more appropriate tools for clothing behavior guidance.
