A Study on the Cost Model for Implementation of SE for the Light Rail Transit Project

This research aims to propose a model to estimate the appropriate SE Cost rate to the total project cost when systems engineering applied to light rail transit project. In this research an investment cost estimation model is proposed with reference to COSYSMO (Constructive System Engineering Cost Model). This model includes four input factors such as requirement numbers, interface numbers, algorithm numbers, and scenario numbers. When 2600 requirement numbers are considered on a proposal document with 350 pages in a light rail transit specification of 500 billion~trillion won scale, COSYSMO demo version estimates 42.5 billion won of SE cost (about 5% of total project cost or about 10% of E&M cost).
A study on the Development of Systems Engineering Application Model for LRT based on MBSE

The Light Rail Transit Project is a large scaled project which takes several years in building a system. After construction, LRT system is operating for several tens of years. For these characteristics, the right application of systems engineering to LRT project greatly effects the project success. In this paper, we present systems engineering application model to LRT project i.e. SELRT which include systems engineering technical process, core technology management process, project support process. SELRT also has a module for the exchange of outputs in SE tool and PM tool. Systems engineering processes in SELRT mainly base on ISO/IEC 15288. In future, we expand the range of SE processes and improve the usability in SELRT. We expect that this model will contribute to improve the efficiency in LRT project and to success the LRT project.
On the design method of physical architecture based on the Design Structure Matrix (DSM) approach

Development of the system that has required performance is the most important figure and that is the key of project succeed. In order to perform that, systems engineering has come to the fore as a solution. In each step of system engineering process, particularly, requirement analysis and derivation, logical solution, architecture design step are known to affect many of the function and efficiency. Of these, this paper focus on architecture design. We introduce methodology for physical architecture design by applying DSM(Design Structure Matrix) methodology which is based on result of logical solution from MBSE methodology.
A Study on the Model-Based Systems Engineering Process for Developing the Naval Combat System

The conventional systems engineering has been performed mainly based on documentation artifacts. Although the Document-Based Systems Engineering has played a very important role in developing and deploying systems, it is difficult for systems engineers to build, to clarify, and to reuse the operational, functional and physical views of the System of Interest (SOI) efficiently. An information-age approach to this problem is the Model-Based Systems Engineering which has been emerging as a very productive solution for stakeholders to define, and understand the desired systems easily, to communicate and collaborate efficiently among each other, and also to verify and validate the systems solutions effectively. This paper proposes a set of MBSE process, methods, and models for use during the systems analysis and design phase of the naval combat system development. An example application of the proposed approach was exercised and a set of artifacts was generated for an export combat system project to demonstrate its effectiveness.
A Study on Improvement Method of Defense Weapon Systems Interoperability Level Measurement

Recently, the LISI(Level of Information System Interoperability) model has been used to measure level of interoperability in the Ministry of National Defense. This study is proposed for improvement of interoperability level measurement method. The MND has been devoting a lot of effort to ensure defense weapon system interoperability. They enacted related regulations and developed SITES for measuring the level of interoperability. However, the LISI model has problems with using just only DITA and applying MND-AF based on Architecture development. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes how to apply reference model to LISI Model and how to apply LISI Model to MND-AF architecture development.
A Case Study of SE and EVMS Techniques Application on Surion Helicopter R&D Program

The System Engineering(SE) and the Earned Value Management System(EVMS), as parts of the scientific project management methodology, have been applied to Surion Helicopter R&D Program. The concept and application process of SE methodology, requirements management and applications output by DOORS program are described in this study. The concept and application process of EVMS, analysis results of schedule/cost variance for Surion RF equipment are also discussed in this study. Though the Surion R&D program is still on-going, it is found that the measures of effectiveness of SE and EVMS applications are verified.
A Study on the Definition Method for Integrated Development Project using QFD

For the definition of development project, this paper proposes an integrated design model for the project 3P's(Products, Process, and People) architecture solutions balancing the originating requirements as well as the design targets of product, process, and IPDT. The model is suggested to develop the integrated design method with trade-off analysis and alternatives evaluation of products, processes, and IPDT using QFD.
Framework for Determining Requirements in the Weapons systems Acquisition Process

In Weapons acquisition process, if the requirements are not clear, it leads to confusion and conflict in business. In the development of next-generation weapons, to define and derive requirements has to start from decision of operational concept. It is difficult task and has many uncertainties. This paper has goal about development of knowledge acquisition process that derive military operational scenario-based requirements acquisition process and framework that classify and save the derived requirements for next project. That framework can generate new class and category, also suggest that verification of requirements. It help to derive and manage the requirements, and make it easy to grasp the requirements. Accordingly, it can help make military requirement plan and weapon acquisition process.
