A Framework and Synchronization Mechanism for Real-time Multimedia Streaming Services based on the Time-triggered Message-triggered Object

In this paper, we present a new framework and stream synchronization mechanism to effectively support developing real-time multimedia streaming services by using a real-time object model named TMO (Time-triggered Message-triggered Object). The purpose of the framework is twofold. Firstly, the framework helps developers to design complex distributed real-time multimedia streaming services. Secondly, it supports timely streaming facilities. In order to achieve these goals, our framework is consist of Multimedia Streaming TMO, MMStreaming TMO Support Library and TMO Support Middleware. The time-triggered spontaneous feature of the MMStream TMO and a global-time based synchronization scheme is used as a regulator against the irregular deliveries and processing of media units caused by QoS non-guaranteed systems and communication channels. In conclusion, timely service capability of our framework is expected to contributed to overall enhancement of the real-time multimedia streaming.
An analysis of link margin for MB-OFDM UWB system in multi-path channel

This paper investigates the link margin of MB-OFDM UWB system quantitatively. Various simulations are performed considering the implementation loss by imperfect synchronization unit and the effect of multi-path fading channels. MB-OFDM UWB system uses ZP(Zero Padding) instead of CP(Cyclic Prefix) and supports two transmission modes; one is TFI(Time Frequency Interleaving) mode that transmits OFDM symbols using different carrier frequency from symbol to symbol according to Time Frequency(TF) codes, the other is FFI(Fixed Frequency Interleaving) mode that transmits OFDM symbols using a specific carrier frequency. The advantage of if and TFI is to be able to increase the transmitting power effectively compared to the existed OFDM systems that transmit the signal continuously at the same average transmitting power. From the analysis results of Ink margin, to guarantee the service range of 4m in 200Mbps mode, TFI mode must necessarily be implemented and the service range of 480Mbps mode is estimated about 1-2m in the line-of-sight multi-path channel (CMI).
The Performance Comparison of the Unicast Routing Protocol and the Broadcast Routing Protocol in the Small-sized Ad hoc Network

This paper compares the performance of the unicast routing protocol and the broadcast routing protocol in a small-sized wireless multi-hop network, such as home network. Normally, ad-hoc routing protocols are designed for general wireless multi-hop networks, not being said to be optimized for the small-sized ad hoc network. This paper compares some unicast routing protocols and optimal broadcast routing protocol, and shows the result. The result of the simulation says the broadcast routing protocol shows better performance than the ad-hoc routing protocols in the small-sired wireless multi-hop network. Especially, the result shows that the broadcast protocol has higher packet delivery ratio and lower packet latency than unicast routing protocols
OSGi based Service Middleware for Context-Aware Applications

To support context-aware services in ubiquitous computing environments, there are required dynamic context managing, context reasoning and context modeling technologies. In previous researches, context services are designed using context ontology used in context aware middleware. So, context service cannot change the context ontology in execution time. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical ontology-based context management model and design a context-aware middleware based on this model for supporting active application adaptability and reflecting users' requirements dynamically in contextual changes. It also provides efficient support for inferencing, interpreting, acquiring and discovering various contexts to build context-aware services and presents a resolution method for context conflict which is occurred in execution of service. As the middleware is implemented on the OSGi framework, it can cause interoperability among devices such as computers, PDAs, home appliances and sensors. It can also support the development and operation of context aware services, which are required in the ubiquitous computing environment.
Design and Implementation of the SBM(Service Bundle Manager) for the Efficient Service Bundles Management based on OSGi(Open Service Gateway Initiative)

Since different kinds of home network technologies coexist, seamless connections between different kinds of network protocols are essential for home computing environments. Several kinds of home network middleware have been developed and OSGi(Open Service Gateway Initiative) was initiated mainly for interoperability support with service distribution between various middleware environments. Framework, OSGi service platform, has weaknesses of passive service bundle management, user management and device management. Therefore, this paper resolves passive management parts which are critical weaknesses of OSGi Specification Version 3 and proposes SBM (Service Bundle Manager) to effiently manage various service bundles. Additionally, we verify practical effects of SBM through experiments.
Sharing of DLNA Media Contents among Inter-homes based on DHCP or Private IP using Homeserver

According to the increase of various AV media devices and contents in the digital home, the DLNA becomes to play an important role as the interoperability standard between then Since this guideline only focuses on the interoperability among home networked devices, media players, and media contents existing inside of the homenetwork, there is no retrieval and transmission method for sharing multimedia contents located over several homes via Internet. Additionally, this guideline lets device-detection and notification messages to be transmitted using W multicast methods, and current Internet environment cannot guarantee consistent IP multicast services, it has the limitation that it cannot retrieve and control DLNA devices in other digital homes remotely via the Internet. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the IHM(Inter-Home Media) proxy system and its operating mechanism to provide a way of sharing media contents distributed over multiple DLNA-based homes, through analyzing these limitations and building up a sharing method for A/V media contents distributed over the DLNA homes based on the dynamic or private IP networks. Our method removes the limitation on the user locations through sharing distributed media contents, and also makes cost-downs for storing media contents, from the view point of individual residents.
Design and Implementation of Architecture for Convergence of Home Network Services and Data Broadcasting Services

This paper describes the design and implementation of architecture for convergence of home network services and data broadcasting services based on UMB and ACAP middleware; the one is used for interoperability of home networked devices, and the other for data broadcasting services. The proposed architecture provides TV-centric user interface capable of managing home network services and data broadcasting services together using a remote controller and TV sets TV applying Java TV Xlet interface and HAVi user interface for home network services like data broadcasting services. Besides, we define the service proxy for accessing home network services in a set-top box and the service broker for providing data related to home network services in a home server. Finally, the application manager in ACAP middleware manages the lifecycle of home network services through service events from the service proxy to the application manager.
An Advanced Permission-Based Delegation Model in RBAC

RBAC(Role-Based Access Control) has advantages in managing access controls, because it offers the role inheritance and separation of duty in role hierarchy structures. However, RBAC does not process delegation of permission effectively that occurs frequently in the real world. This paper proposes an Advanced Permission-Based Delegation Model(APBDM) that guarantees permanency of delegated permissions and does not violate security principle of least privilege and separation of duty. APBDM, based on the well-known RBAC96, supports both user-to-user and role-to-role delegation. A delegator can give permission to a specific person, that is delegatee, and the permission can be withdrawn whenever the delegator wants. Our model is analyzed and shown to be effective in the present paper.
Spam Message Filtering with Bayesian Approach for Internet Communities

Spam Message has been Causing widespread damages on the Internet. One source of the problems is rooted from an anonymously posted message in the bulletin board in Internet communities. This type of the Spam messages tries to advertise products, to harm other's reputation, to deliver religious messages and so on. In this paper we present the Spam message filtering using the Bayesian approach. In order to increase usefulness of the Spam filter in the bulletin board in Internet communities, we made the Spam filter which can divide the Spam message into six categories such as advertisement, pornography, abuse, religion and other. The test conducted against messages posted on the popular web sites.
A Cluster Head Selection Algorithm Adopting Sensor Density on Wireless Sensor Networks

Due to the continuous development of sensor technology, Wireless Sensor Networks are rapidly growing and are expected to be applied to various applications. One of the most important factors in Wireless Sensor Networks is energy-efficient management of network resources. For this purpose, a lot of researches have been ongoing in the development of energy-efficient routing protocol. In this paper, a cluster head selection algorithm considering node density in addition to the cluster head selection algorithm of LEACH-C is proposed and simulated. This algorithm gives nearly the same computational speed compared to that of LEACH-C and shows improvement of network lifetime about 11% better than LEACH-C. The simulation result shows that consideration of density as well as distance between nodes in cluster head selection can be more energy-efficient than considering only the distance between nodes as LEACH-C in energy usage of Wireless Sensor Networks.
Performance Analysis of Adaptive Collaborative Communications in Wireless Networks

Broadcast nature of wireless medium and path-loss reduction create a favourable condition for collaborative communications (CC) among single-antenna users to gain the powerful benefits of multi-antenna system without the demand for physical arrays. This paper proposes a CC strategy adapting to the propagation environment changes by optimizing the transmit signal amplification factors to simplify the structure of maximum likelihood (ML) detector and to obtain the minimum error probability as well. The closed-form BER expression was also derived and compared to the simulation results to evaluate the performance of the suggested solution. A variety of numerical results revealed the cooperation significantly outperforms non-cooperative counterpart under flat Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).
The Clustering Scheme for Load-Balancing in Mobile Ad-hoc Network

Mobile Ad-hoc Network(MANET) is an autonomous network consisted of mobile hosts. A considerable number of studies have been conducted on the MANET with studies of ubiquitous computing. Several studies have been made on the clustering schemes which manage network hierarchically to Improve flat architecture of MANET. But the conventional schemes have the lack of multi-hop clustering and load balancing. This paper proposes a clustering scheme to support multi-hop clustering and to consider load balancing between cluster heads. We define the split of clusters and states of cluster, and propose join, merge, divide, and election of cluster head schemes for load balancing of between cluster heads
Scalable Overlay Multicast supporting QoS and Reliability

In order to support overlay multicast with scalability and reliability, in this paper, we introduced a new multicast tree construction method and a regional multicast. The architecture we introduce efficiently transmits streaming data to the users from multicast source in an environment in which non-multicast network and multicast network. The new multicast tree construction method enables the connection with a remote relay which is an optimum condition in case there is no relay in subnet. Besides, by defining a new service type to traffic class of IPv6 header, a selective adoption or FEC and a distinctive transmission became possible. In order to verify the effect of the solution we suggested, we embodied an environment which is similar to the actual service environment by a simulator and tested it. The result of the test shows that the proposed method is more efficient than the traditional unicast approach method and the existing overlay multicast.
A Design of Network Management Framework employing active management program generation facilities

As the scale of network expands largely, most of users consume much cost for complex network that composes various network environments. In this paper, we propose a network management framework employing active management program generation facilities in order to reduce the cost and time for developing a network management program. The proposed framework consists of several basic components including configuration management, performance management, and fault management for real time network management. Besides those components, it has an added active program generator in order to actively create information of network objects that are managed through the basic components. Our framework manages the network with SNMP manager using the information of network objects. This information is generated automatically instead of the existing manual manner. We shows that the cost and time for developing a network management program is reduced through the construction and operations on the real network.
An Efficient Cooperative Web Caching Scheme

Nowadays, Internet is used worldwide and network traffic is increasing dramatically. Much of Internet traffic is due to the web applications. And I propose a new cooperative web caching scheme, called DCOORD which tries to minimize the overall cost of Web caching. DCOORD reduces the communication cost by coordinating the objects which are cached at each cache server. In this paper, I compare the Performance of DCOORD with two well-known cooperative Web caching schemes, ICP and CARP, using trace driven simulation. In order to reflect the cost factor in the network communication, I used the CSR(Cost-Saving Ratio) as our performance metric, instead of the traditional hit ratio. The performance evaluations show that DCOORD is more cost effective than ICP and CARP.
A Study on the selection and estimate of the Mobile Commerce's Success Factor

The Electronic Commerce with development was advanced information technique in transaction from at the election, and now it is sharply evolving into Mobile Commerce capable of Electronic commerce while the user moves. Mobile Commerce has some feature in Electronic Commerce, but has the different feature. analyzed the feature of Mobile Commerce were carried out, but those were processed according to its location and field only and special of view. This study sought the new characteristic which is different from the existing Electronic Commerce, and took account of the successful factor for Mobile Commerce which includes the position in a user, a developer and an operator. In addition, AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was used in order to evaluate the extract factor applied to each related to through more objective methods. The analysis results identified in this study such as the quality trust and the accessibility to understanding for an content duality might be the one of the chief elements of success in Mobile Commerce which applies at the present.
