The software configuration management system for image processing algorithm development

The importance of software is getting high in development of the digital device (digital camcoder, digital camera, mp3 player, ....). And because the sire of software becomes larger and complicated, the necessity of software configuration management (to solves a software crisis) is increased. The general software configuration management system shows lack of the property and features of software development environment for image processing algorithm due to its wide range to be covered. Image processing algorithm development environment has properties like repetitive analysis and simulation using visual programming environment where, beside support of elementary development functions. component(or library) can be combined and tested interactively. Moreover, the method to look fast and effectively for component having similar function is required. In this paper, we present the system which supports the software configuration management method for a simulation tool and the property in the visual programming environment. And we relate our system to real simulation tool so as to check its ability as the software configuration management system for image processing algorithm development environment.
Study On The Robustness Of Face Authentication Methods Under illumination Changes

This paper focuses on the study of the face authentication system and the robustness of fact authentication methods under illumination changes. Four different face authentication methods are tried. These methods are as fellows; PCA(Principal Component Analysis), GMM(Gaussian Mixture Modeis), 1D HMM(1 Dimensional Hidden Markov Models), Pseudo 2D HMM(Pseudo 2 Dimensional Hidden Markov Models). Experiment results involving an artificial illumination change to fate images are compared with each other. Face feature vector extraction based on the 2D DCT(2 Dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform) if used. Experiments to evaluate the above four different fate authentication methods are carried out on the ORL(Olivetti Research Laboratory) face database. Books Location Estimation System by Image Processing

In this paper, we will show that a control search methodology is a alternative method of a sequential search which is difficult in finding books for arrangement at library or a bookstore when books are out of place. To solve the problem of the sequential search, we apply a edge operator and the Hough Transform to boundary of a taken photograph image book. We generate histogram by a projected image from boundary range of selected books and select title areas from this and possible areas which are a character number of title, authors, a publishing company and an array sequence. Finally, we can select the final possible area of a book location by a curve fitting and a regression line extraction, and show utility through experiment.
Performance comparison of SVM and neural networks for large-set classification problems

In this paper, we analyzed and compared the performances of modular FFMLP(feedforward multilayer perceptron) and SVUT(Support Vector Machine) for the large-set classification problems. Overall, SVM dominated modular FFMLP in the correct recognition rate and other aspects Additionally, the recognition rate of SVM degraded more slowly than neural network as the number of classes increases. The trend of the recognition rates depending on the rejection rate has been analyzed. The parameter set of SVM(kernel functions and related variables) has been identified for the large-set classification problems.
Object-Based Image Retrieval Using Color Adjacency and Clustering Method

This paper proposes an object-based image retrieval scheme using color adjacency and clustering method. Color adjacency features in boundary regions are utilized to extract candidate blocks of interest from image database and a clustering method is used to extract the regions of interest(ROI) from candidate blocks of interest. To measure the similarity between the query and database images, the histogram intersection technique is used. The color pair information used in the proposed method is robust against translation, rotation, and scaling. Consequently, experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme is superior to existing methods in terms of ANMRR.
Visual Guider : Space Perception Aid Tool in Immersive Virtual World

In immersive virtual reality system, since virtual worlds do not supply users with sufficient spatial information af real world does, the users frequently experience clumsiness and roughness while manipulating virtual objects. To overcome this problem, we propose Visual Guider in this paper as a tool for enhancing user's visual space perception in immersive virtual worlds. The Visual Guider aids users to recognize exocentric distances between different scene points and egocentric distances from the observation point to other points in the scene fast and precisely. Its concept is imported from the rectangular grids frequently used in two-dimensional windows applications. We applied the proposed technique to an experimental virtual space implemented in
system and tested its effectiveness while users grasp and move virtual objects.
ECoMOT : An Efficient Content-based Multimedia Information Retrieval System Using Moving Objects' Trajectories in Video Data

A moving object has a various features that its spatial location, shape, and size are changed as time goes. In addition, the moving object has both temporal feature and spatial feature. It is one of the highly interested feature information in video data. In this paper, we propose an efficient content-based multimedia information retrieval system, so tailed ECoMOT which enables user to retrieve video data by using a trajectory information of moving objects in video data. The ECoMOT includes several novel techniques to achieve content-based retrieval using moving objects' trajectories : (1) Muitiple trajectory modeling technique to model the multiple trajectories composed of several moving objects; (2) Multiple similar trajectory retrieval technique to retrieve more similar trajectories by measuring similarity between a given two trajectories composed of several moving objects; (3) Superimposed signature-based trajectory indexing technique to effectively search corresponding trajectories from a large trajectory databases; (4) convenient trajectory extraction, query generation, and retrieval interface based on graphic user interface
Passage Retrieval and Calculation Method of Topic Field by Using Field-Associated Terms

It is important to segment a text, which is independent upon any text-embedded auxiliary information. This paper presents a technique for dividing the text into field-coherent passages. The presented method is based upon extracting field-associated terms from the text measuring how the topics grow, shrink and shift from sentence to sentence. We propose measures of topic continuity and of topic transition and suggest how those could be used to find the boundaries among passages. After collecting 12,500 documents, we obtain

Category Reorganization for Ontology Reuse

This paper introduces a methodology of transforming an existing ontology into the one that satisfies its application. The transformation consists of simplification and realization of word category information. They are based on category headings and base categories. Furthermore, this paper describes a method by which we can identify relationships between category sets. Through the transformation, (1) Roget's thesaurus is reorganized into 7 categories and the base of 'Ontology for Narrative', (2) 22 immersion factors of multimedia games can be subdivided into 207 factors in , and (3) the relationships between 10 mental factors and 22 immersion factors of multimedia games are identified in .
Multilingual Story Link Detection based on Properties of Event Terms

In this paper, we propose a novel approach which models multilingual story link detection by adapting the features such as timelines and multilingual spaces as weighting components to give distinctive weights to terms related to events. On timelines term significance is calculated by comparing term distribution of the documents on that day with that on the total document collection reported, and used to represent the document vectors on that day. Since two languages can provide more information than one language, term significance is measured on each language space and used to refer the other language space as a bridge on multilingual spaces. Evaluating the method on Korean and Japanese news articles, our method achieved
improvement for mono- and multi-lingual story pairs, and for multilingual story pairs, respectively. By measuring the space density, the proposed weighting components are verified with a high density of the intra-event stories and a low density of the inter-events stories. This result indicates that the proposed method is helpful for multilingual story link detection.
Semantic Web based DQL Search System

It has been proposed diverse methods to use web information efficiently as the size of information is increasing. Most of search systems use a keyword-based method that mostly relies on syntactic information. They cannot utilize semantic information of documents and thus they could generate to users. To solve shortcoming in searching documents, a technique using the Semantic Web is suggested. A semantic web can find relevant information to users by employing metadata which are represented using standard ontologies. Each document is annotated with a metadata which can be reasoned by agents. In this paper, we propose a search system using semantic web technologies. Our semantic search system analyzes semantically questions that user input, and get resolution information that user want. To improve efficiency and accuracy of semantic search systems, this paper proposes DQL(DAML Query Language) engine that employs inference engine to execute reasoning and DQL converter that changes keyword form question of the user to DQL.
Modeling of Plant Growth based on Juvenile Energy in Virtual Environment

Most of the plant models based on L-system or particle systems have focused on visual shape of plant. However, the interaction between the plant and its environment in virtual environment will make the plant more natural in diverse situations so that users will be immersed in system. To this end we structure the plant object organized in an ontology, introduce calculating method of plant growth rate based on juvenile energy.
