Reliable Camera Pose Estimation from a Single Frame with Applications for Virtual Object Insertion

This Paper describes a fast and stable camera pose estimation method for real-time augmented reality systems. From the feature tracking results of a marker on a single frame, we estimate the camera rotation matrix and the translation vector. For the camera pose estimation, we use the shape factorization method based on the scaled orthographic Projection model. In the scaled orthographic factorization method, all feature points of an object are assumed roughly at the same distance from the camera, which means the selected reference point and the object shape affect the accuracy of the estimation. This paper proposes a flexible and stable selection method for the reference point. Based on the proposed method, we implemented a video augmentation system that inserts virtual 3D objects into the input video frames. Experimental results showed that the proposed camera pose estimation method is fast and robust relative to the previous methods and it is applicable to various augmented reality applications.
Small-Scale Warehouse Management System by Log-Based Context Awareness

Various application systems are developed using RFID as a part of ubiquitous computing, and it is expected that RFID chip will become wide-spread for the distribution industry especially. Efficient and efact intelligent-type of warehouse management system is essential for small-to-medium-sized enterprises in the situation having a trouble in the viewpoint of expense and manpower. In this paper, we implement small-scale warehouse management system using log-based context awareness technology. This system is implemented to be controlled on web, configuring clients to control RFID readers and building up DBMS system in a server. Especially, it grasps user`s intention of storing or delivering based on toE data for the history of user`s access to the system and it reports user`s irregular pattern of warehouse use and serves predictive information of the control of goods in stock. As a result, the proposed system can contribute to enhance efficiency and correctness of small-scale warehouse management.
On-line Background Extraction in Video Image Using Vector Median

Background extraction is an important technique to find the moving objects in video surveillance system. This paper proposes a new on-line background extraction method for color video using vector order statistics. In the proposed method, using the fact that background occurs more frequently than objects, the vector median of color pixels in consecutive frames Is treated as background at the position. Also, the objects of current frame are consisted of the set of pixels whose distance from background pixel is larger than threshold. In the paper, the proposed method is compared with the on-line multiple background extraction based on Gaussian mixture model(GMM) in order to evaluate the performance. As the result, its performance is similar or superior to the method based on GMM.
A Flexible Line-Fitting ICM Approach for Takbon Image Restoration

This paper proposes a new class of image restoration on the Ising modeled binary `Takbon` image by the flexible line-fitting ICM(Iterated conditional modes) method. Basically `Takbon` image need be divided into two extreme regions, information and background one due to its stroke combinations. The main idea is the line process, comparing with the conventional ICM approaches which were based on partially rectangular structured point process. For calculating geometrical mechanism, we have defined line-fitting functions at each current pixel array which form the set of linear lines with gradients and lengths. By applying the Bayes` decision to this set, the region of the current pixel is decided as one of the binary levels. In this case, their statistical reiteration for distinct tracking between intra and extra region offers a criterion to decide the attachment at each step. Finally simulations using the binary `Takbon` image are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our new algorithm
Personalized Search Service in Semantic Web

The semantic web environment promise semantic search of heterogeneous data from distributed web page. Semantic search would resuit in an overwhelming number of results for users is increased, therefore elevating the need for appropriate personalized ranking schemes. Culture Finder helps semantic web agents obtain personalized culture information. It extracts meta data for each web page(culture news, culture performance, culture exhibition), perform semantic search and compute result ranking point to base user profile. In order to work efficient, Culture Finder uses five major technique: Machine learning technique for generating user profile from user search behavior and meta data repository, an efficient semantic search system for semantic web agent, query analysis for representing query and query result, personalized ranking method to provide suitable search result to user, upper ontology for generating meta data. In this paper, we also present the structure used in the Culture Finder to support personalized search service.
Adaptive Data Mining Model using Fuzzy Performance Measures

Data Mining is the process of finding hidden patterns inside a large data set. Cluster analysis has been used as a popular technique for data mining. It is a fundamental process of data analysis and it has been Playing an important role in solving many problems in pattern recognition and image processing. If fuzzy cluster analysis is to make a significant contribution to engineering applications, much more attention must be paid to fundamental decision on the number of clusters in data. It is related to cluster validity problem which is how well it has identified the structure that Is present in the data. In this paper, we design an adaptive data mining model using fuzzy performance measures. It discovers clusters through an unsupervised neural network model based on a fuzzy objective function and evaluates clustering results by a fuzzy performance measure. We also present the experimental results on newsgroup data. They show that the proposed model can be used as a document classifier.
A Mechanism to Determine Method Location among Classes using Neural Network

There have been various cohesion measurements studied considering reference relation among attributes and methods in a class. Generally, these cohesion measurement are camed out in one class. If the range of reference relation considered are extended from one class to two classes, we could find out the reference relation between two classes. Tn this paper, we proposed a neural network to determine the method location. Neural network is effective to predict output value from input data not to be included in training and generalize after training input and output pattern repeatedly. Learning vector is generated with 30-dimensional input vector and one target binary values of method location in a constraint that there are two classes which have less than or equal to 5 attributes and methods The result of the proposed neural network is about 95% in cross-validation and 88% in testing.
Performance Improvement of Speech Recognition Using Context and Usage Pattern Information

Speech recognition has recently been investigated to produce more reliable recognition results in a noisy environment, by integrating diverse sources of information into the result derivation-level or producing new results through post-processing the prior recognition results. In this paper we propose a method which uses the user`s usage patterns and the context information in speech command recognition for personal mobile devices to improve the recognition accuracy in a noisy environment. Sequential usage (or speech) patterns prior to the current command spoken are used to adjust the base recognition results. For the context information, we use the relevance between the current function of the device in use and the spoken command. Our experiment results show that the proposed method achieves about 50% of error correction rate over the base recognition system. It demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method.
An Implementation of Dynamic Gesture Recognizer Based on WPS and Data Glove

WPS(Wearable Personal Station) for next generation PC can define as a core terminal of `Ubiquitous Computing` that include information processing and network function and overcome spatial limitation in acquisition of new information. As a way to acquire significant dynamic gesture data of user from haptic devices, traditional gesture recognizer based on desktop-PC using wire communication module has several restrictions such as conditionality on space, complexity between transmission mediums(cable elements), limitation of motion and incommodiousness on use. Accordingly, in this paper, in order to overcome these problems, we implement hand gesture recognition system using fuzzy algorithm and neural network for Post PC(the embedded-ubiquitous environment using blue-tooth module and WPS). Also, we propose most efficient and reasonable hand gesture recognition interface for Post PC through evaluation and analysis of performance about each gesture recognition system. The proposed gesture recognition system consists of three modules: 1) gesture input module that processes motion of dynamic hand to input data 2) Relational Database Management System(hereafter, RDBMS) module to segment significant gestures from input data and 3) 2 each different recognition modulo: fuzzy max-min and neural network recognition module to recognize significant gesture of continuous / dynamic gestures. Experimental result shows the average recognition rate of 98.8% in fuzzy min-nin module and 96.7% in neural network recognition module about significantly dynamic gestures.
Implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication System Using Image Dictionary and Verbal based Sentence Generation Rule

The present study implemented AAC(Augmentative and Alternative Communication) system using images that speech defectives can easily understand. In particular, the implementation was focused on the portability and mobility of the AAC system as well as communication system of a more flexible form. For mobility and portability, we implemented a system operable in mobile devices such as PDA so that speech defectives can communicate as food as ordinary People at any Place using the system Moreover, in order to overcome the limitation of storage space for a large volume of image data, we implemented the AAC system in client/server structure in mobile environment. What is more, for more flexible communication, we built an image dictionary by taking verbs as the base and sub-categorizing nouns according to their corresponding verbs, and regularized the types of sentences generated according to the type of verb, centering on verbs that play the most important role in composing a sentence.
