Mobile agent systems offer a new paradigm for distributed computation and a one of solution for limitation of existent Client-server model. Mobile agent systems provide interface that can migrate from host to host in a heterogenous network. For secure execution, it must solve security problem of mobile code before. In this paper, we are propose the protocol that applied signature technique and hash chain technique. This protocol enable one to offer forward integrity, non-repudiation, and forgery detection, when mobile agents are perform the task by migrating a network.
Automatic Reconstruction of Web Pages for Mobile Devices

Recently, with the wide spread of the Internet and development of wireless network technology, it has now become possible to access web pages anytime, anywhere through devices with small display such as PDA But, since most existing web pages are optimized for desktop computers, browsing web pages on the small screen through wireless network requires more scrolling and longer loading time. In this paper, we propose a page reconstruction scheme called PageMap to make it feasible to navigate existing web pages through small screen devices even on the wireless connection. Reconstructed pages reduce the file and page size and thus eventually reduce resource requirements. We have Implemented a prototype system and performed several experiments for typical web sites. We report some of the results.
Performance Evaluation of Web Image Server for sharing e-Commerce System`s Image

We can buy products everywhere from Web-based shopping mall using desktop, cellular phone or PDA. To guarantee the various services for different equipment, shopping mail systems should allow a lot of different size or quality of images to provide a good service to their customers. Despite of same product image, each shopping mall saves the image in its storage space individually. Furthermore, all the product images in each shopping mall are stored as images of different quality. It may waste resources of shopping mail server and bring us developmental overhead. It is difficult to update all the images for product that is used by distributed e-catalog in everywhere. In this paper, we extended the proposed Web Image Server (WIS) for sharing one image with all clients and processing Image dynamically, so that we strengthened the function of managing shopping mall as a client of WIS and added the function of recording clients`log file and image catalog for shopping mall. We measured the response time from WIS and conventional e-Commerce site using by WAS which is one of the stress test tools for Web application. Furthermore, we measured WIS responses image requests in reasonable time when the current user is increased.
XMARS : XML-based Multimedia Annotation and Retrieval System

This paper proposes an XML based Multimedia Annotation and Retrieval System, which can represent and retrieve video data efficiently using XML. The system provides a graphical user interface for annotating, searching, and browsing multimedia data. It is Implemented based on the hierarchical metadata model to represent multimedia information. The metadata about video is organized based on multimedia description schema using XML Schema that basically conforms to the MPEG-7 standard. Also, for the effective indexing and retrieval of multimedia data, video segments are annotated and categorized using the closed caption.

This paper proposes a UQoSM (User Qualify of Service Middleware) framework for multimedia application systems. UQoSM system is extended the existing event service model added to the event monitoring, reflective event filtering and event dispatcher for supporting multimedia application systems. Especially, this paper is concentrated on providing suitable reflective event filtering function for multimedia application service system in order to meet various user requirements under inter-based environment. It means this system provides high QoS to users. In addition, it results in decreasing network traffic as unnecessary event information is filtered from network.

Increasing of electronic commerce users and high-capacity multimedia data is the main causes of increasing of load and network traffic in electronic commerce system. Increasing of load and network traffic brings the delay of service about client`s request. And it`s becoming factor that decreases customer satisfaction and corporation`s competitive ability. So it is needed to research that consider efficient management and response time of electronic commerce system. In this paper, we designed electronic commerce system based on local server with web cashing function in order to solve load problem of electronic commerce system. And we proposed web cashing algorithm for local web server and analyzed performance by an experiment.
Facial Features and Motion Recovery using multi-modal information and Paraperspective Camera Model

Robust extraction of 3D facial features and global motion information from 2D image sequence for the MPEG-4 SNHC face model encoding is described. The facial regions are detected from image sequence using multi-modal fusion technique that combines range, color and motion information. 23 facial features among the MPEG-4 FDP (Face Definition Parameters) are extracted automatically inside the facial region using color transform (GSCD, BWCD) and morphological processing. The extracted facial features are used to recover the 3D shape and global motion of the object using paraperspective camera model and SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) factorization method. A 3D synthetic object is designed and tested to show the performance of proposed algorithm. The recovered 3D motion information is transformed into global motion parameters of FAP (Face Animation Parameters) of the MPEG-4 to synchronize a generic face model with a real face.
Exploitation of Auxiliary Motion Vector in Video Coding for Robust Transmission over Internet

In this paper, we propose a video sequence coding scheme called AMV (Auxiliary Motion Vector) to minimize error propagation caused by transmission errors over the Internet. Unlike the conventional coding schemes the AMY coder, for a macroblock in a frame, selects two best matching blocks among several preceding frames. The best matching block, called a primary block, is used for motion compensation of the destination macroblock. The other block, called an auxiliary block, replaces the primary block in case of its loss at the decoder. When a primary block is corrupted or lost during transmission, the decoder can efficiently and simply suppress error propagation to the subsequent frames by replacing the block with an auxiliary block. This scheme has an advantage of reducing both the number and the impact of error propagations. We implemented the proposed coder by modifying H.263 standard coding and evaluated the performance of our proposed scheme in the simulation. The simulation results show that AMV coder is more efficient than the H.263 baseline coder at the high packet loss rate.
e-Catalogue Image Retrieval Using Vectorial Combination of Color Edge

The edge descriptor proposed by MPEG-7 standard is a representative approach for the contents-based image retrieval using the edge information. In the edge descriptor, the edge information is the edge histogram derived from a gray-level value image. This paper proposes a new method which extracts color edge information from color images and a new approach for the contents-based image retrieval based on the color edge histogram. The poposed method and technique are applied to image retrieval of the e-catalogue. For the evaluation, the results of image retrieval using the proposed approach are compared with those of image retrieval using the edge descriptor by MPEG-7 and the statistics shows the efficiency of the proposed method. The proposed color edge model is made by combining the R,G,B channel components vectorially and by characterizing the vector norm of the edge map. The color edge histogram using the direction of the color edge model is subsequently used for the contents-based image retrieval.
Development of Tree Structures and Algorithms for the Efficient Group Key Management in Multicast Environment

In multicast environment, the main objective of group key management is to provide security services to group communications by sharing a single group key among all the members of the group and subsequently encrypting and decrypting all the communication messages exchanged among the members of the group. Up to now, there has been no effort to develop group key management mechanism that considers the rate of users` join/leave operations. Hence, in this research, we propose group key management mechanisms that consider the rate of user`s join/leave operations. We also define a new tree structure called variable tree which is much more flexible than full regular trees and show that variable trees are more efficient than full regular trees for group key management. Especially, we propose an algorithm that minimizes the necessary number of rekey messages according to the rate of join and leave operations. We also shows that if the rate of leave operation is greater than 50%, then the tree structure with degrees 2 or 3 are the optimal structures.
DIT (Digital Investment Trust) Agent Based on ECSSL (Elliptic Curve SSL)

This paper proposes DIT (Digital Investment Trust) agent based on ECSSL (Elliptic Curve SSL). This DIT agent is a banking project using IT (Investment Trust) conception based on EC (Electronic Commerce) and can manage micro payment, account opening and account transferring. In addition, ECSSL (Elliptic Curve SSL) protocol is implemented which consists of much better encryption functions than existing SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Protocol. Therefore, This DIT agent based on ECSSL protocol protects a customer`s information and asset from third party.
Digital Watermarking Using Watermark Reordering Based on Discrete Cosine Transform

Watermarking is embedding a digital signal called as watermark into images to claim the ownership. In this paper, a new digital watermarking algorithm based on DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) which enhances invisibility and robustness is proposed to improve contentional digital watermarking method using DCT. In the proposed method, it is possible to enhance invisibility and robustness using watermark reordering in which the relative significance of original DCT coefficients can be preserved in watermarked DCT coefficients, and the distortions of original DCT coefficients can be minimized. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves invisibility approximately 9～12[dB] and is more robust to various attacks than the conventional method.

The concept of a hyperpresentation, as an extension of a hypermedia, is the presentation in which time-varying multimedia presentations are dynamically linked together and a hyperlink`s context can be changed over time at any time during a continuous presentation. While this concept provides users with a flexible and powerful tool for their descriptions of the multimedia presentation, inconsistency problems in the synchronized presentations connected by hyper links can be introduced. This paper introduces a method of describing the hyperpresentation using Petri Net and proposes a methods of detecting inconsistent hyper link loop in the hyperpresentation description.
Bayesian Network-Based Analysis on Clinical Data of Infertility Patients

In this paper, we conducted various experiments with Bayesian networks in order to analyze clinical data of infertility patients. With these experiments, we tried to find out inter-dependencies among important factors playing the key role in clinical pregnancy, and to compare 3 different kinds of Bayesian network classifiers (including NBN, BAN, GBN) in terms of classification performance. As a result of experiments, we found the fact that the most important features playing the key role in clinical pregnancy (Clin) are indication (IND), stimulation, age of female partner (FA), number of ova (ICT), and use of Wallace (ETM), and then discovered inter-dependencies among these features. And we made sure that BAN and GBN, which are more general Bayesian network classifiers permitting inter-dependencies among features, show higher performance than NBN. By comparing Bayesian classifiers based on probabilistic representation and reasoning with other classifiers such as decision trees and k-nearest neighbor methods, we found that the former show higher performance than the latter due to inherent characteristics of clinical domain. finally, we suggested a feature reduction method in which all features except only some ones within Markov blanket of the class node are removed, and investigated by experiments whether such feature reduction can increase the performance of Bayesian classifiers.
An Efficient Knowledge Base Management Using Hybrid SOM

There is a rapidly growing demand for the intellectualization of information technology. Especially, in the area of KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Database) which should make an optimal decision of finding knowledge from a large amount of data, the demand is enormous. A large volume of Knowledge Base should be efficiently managed for a more intellectual choice. This study is proposing a Hybrid SOM for an efficient search and renewal of knowledge base, which combines a self-study nerve network, Self-Organization Map with a probable distribution theory in order to get knowledge needed for decision-making management from the Knowledge Base. The efficient knowledge base management through this proposed method is carried out by a stimulation test. This test confirmed that the proposed Hybrid SOM can manage with efficiency Knowledge Base.
Independent Component Analysis Based on Neural Networks Using Hybrid Fixed-Point Algorithm

This paper proposes an efficient hybrid fixed-point (FP) algorithm for improving performances of the independent component analysis (ICA) based on neural networks. The proposed algorithm is the FP algorithm based on secant method and momentum for ICA. Secant method is applied to improve the separation performance by simplifying the computation process for estimating the root of objective function, which is to minimize the mutual informations of the independent components. The momentum is applied for high-speed convergence by restraining the oscillation if the process of converging to the optimal solution. It can simultaneously achieve a superior properties of the secant method and the momentum. The proposed algorithm has been applied to the composite fingerprints and the images generated by random mixing matrix in the 8 fingerprints of
-pixel and the 10 images of
-pixel, respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performances of the separation speed and rate than those using the FP algorithm based on Newton and secant method. Especially, the secant FP algorithm can be solved the separating performances depending on initial points settings and the nonrealistic learning time for separating the large size images by using the Newton FP algorithm.
Fingerprint Recognition using Gabor Filter

Fingerprint recognition is a task to find a matching pattern in a database for a specific persons fingerprint. To accomplish this task, preprocessing, classification, and matching steps are taken for a large-scale fingerprint database but only the matching step is taken without classification for a small-scale database. The primary matching method is based on minutiae (ridge ending point, bifurcation). This matching method, however, requires a very complex computation to extract minutiae and match minutiae-to-minutiae accurately due to translation, rotation, nonlinear deformation of fingerprint and occurrence of spurious minutiae. In addition, this method requires a laborious preprocessing step in order to improve the quality of fingerprint Images. This paper proposes a new simple method to eliminate these problems. With this method, Gabor variance is used instead of minutiae for fingerprint recognition. The Gabor variance is computed from Gabor features that result from filtering a fingerprint image through Gabor filter. In this paper, this method is described and its test result is shown, demonstrating the potential of using this new method for fingerprint recognition.
Analysis and Recognition of Behavioral Response of Selected Insects in Toxic Chemicals for Water Quality Monitoring

In this paper, Using an automatic tracking system, behavior of an aquatic insect, Chironomus sp. (Chironomidae), was observed in semi-natural conditions in response to sub-lethal treament of a carbamate insecticide, carbofuran. The fourth instar larvae were placed in an observation cage
at temperature of
and the light condition of 10 time (light) : 14 time (dark). The tracking system was devised to detect the instant, partial movement of the insect body. Individual movement was traced after the treatment of carbofuran (0.1ppm) for four days 2days : before treatment, 2 days : after treatment). Along with the other irregular behaviors, "ventilation activity", appearing as a shape of "compressed zig-zag", was more frequently observed after the treatment of the insecticide. The activity of the test individuals was also generally depressed after the chemical treatment. In order to detect behavioral changes of the treated specimens, wavelet analysis was implemented to characterize different movement patterns. The extracted parameters based on Discrete Wavelet Transforms (DWT) were subsequently provided to artificial neural networks to be trained to represent different patterns of the movement tracks before and after treatments of the insecticide. This combined model of wavelets and artificial neural networks was able to point out the occurrence of characteristic movement patterns, and could be an alternative tool for automatically detecting presences of toxic chemicals for water quality monitoring. quality monitoring.
Edge detection method using unbalanced mutation operator in noise image

This paper proposes a method for detecting edge using an evolutionary programming and a momentum back-propagation algorithm. The evolutionary programming does not perform crossover operation as to consider reduction of capability of algorithm and calculation cost, but uses selection operator and mutation operator. The momentum back-propagation algorithm uses assistant to weight of learning step when weight is changed at learning step. Because learning rate o is settled as less in last back-propagation algorithm the momentum back-propagation algorithm discard the problem that learning is slow as relative reduction because change rate of weight at each learning step. The method using EP-MBP is batter than GA-BP method in both learning time and detection rate and showed the decreasing learning time and effective edge detection, in consequence.
Traffic Sign Area Detection by using Color Rate and Distance Rate

This paper proposes a system detecting the area of traffic sign, which uses color rate as the information of colors, and corner point and distance rate as the information of morphology. In this system, a candidate area is extracted by performing dilation operation on the binary image made by the color rate of R, G, B components and by detecting corner point and center point through mask. The area of traffic sign with varied shapes is extracted by calculating the distance rate from center point, which is the information of morphology. The results of this experiment demonstrate that in this system which is invariable regardless of its size and location, it is possible to extract the exact area from varied traffic signs such as the shapes of triangle, circle, inverse triangle, and square as well as from the images at both day and night when brightness value is greatly different. Moreover, it demonstrates great accuracy and speed in processing.
Practical Development and Application of a Korean Morphological Analyzer for Automatic Indexing

In this paper, we developed Korean Morphological Analyzer for an automatic indexing that is essential for Information Retrieval. Since it is important to index large-scaled document set efficiently, we concentrated on maximizing the speed of word analysis, modularization and structuralization of the system without new concepts or ideas. In this respect, our system is characterized in terms of software engineering aspect to be used in real world rather than theoretical issues. First, a dictionary of words was structured. Then modules that analyze substantive words and inflected words were introduced. Furthermore numeral analyzer was developed. And we introduced an unknown word analyzer using the patterns of morpheme. This whole system was integrated into K-2000, an information retrieval system.
Image Search Using Interpolated Color Histograms

A set of color features has been efficiently used to measure the similarity of given images. However, the size of the color features is too large to implement an indexing scheme effectively. In this paper a new method is proposed to retrieve similar images using an interpolated color histogram. The idea is similar to the already reported methods that use the distributions of color histograms. The new method is different in that simplified color histograms decide the similarity between a query image and target images. In order to represent the distribution of the color histograms, the best order of interpolated polynomial has been simulated. After a histogram distribution is represented in a polynomial form, only a few number of polynomial coefficients are indexed and stored in a database as a color descriptor. The new method has been applied to real images and achieved satisfactory results.
