An Optimal Way to Index Searching of Duality-Based Time-Series Subsequence Matching

In this paper, we address efficient processing of subsequence matching in time-series databases. We first point out the performance problems occurring in the index searching of a prior method for subsequence matching. Then, we propose a new method that resolves these problems. Our method starts with viewing the index searching of subsequence matching from a new angle, thereby regarding it as a kind of a spatial-join called a window-join. For speeding up the window-join, our method builds an R＊-tree in main memory for f query sequence at starting of sub-sequence matching. Our method also includes a novel algorithm for joining effectively one R＊-tree in disk, which is for data sequences, and another R＊-tree in main memory, which is for a query sequence. This algorithm accesses each R＊-tree page built on data sequences exactly cure without incurring any index-level false alarms. Therefore, in terms of the number of disk accesses, the proposed algorithm proves to be optimal. Also, performance evaluation through extensive experiments shows the superiority of our method quantitatively.
Performance Analysis on Declustering High-Dimensional Data by GRID Partitioning

A lot of work has been done to improve the I/O performance of such a system that store and manage a massive amount of data by distributing them across multiple disks and access them in parallel. Most of the previous work has focused on an efficient mapping from a grid ceil, which is determined bY the interval number of each dimension, to a disk number on the assumption that each dimension is split into disjoint intervals such that entire data space is GRID-like partitioned. However, they have ignored the effects of a GRID partitioning scheme on declustering performance. In this paper, we enhance the performance of mapping function based declustering algorithms by applying a good GRID par-titioning method. For this, we propose an estimation model to count the number of grid cells intersected by a range query and apply a GRID partitioning scheme which minimizes query result size among the possible schemes. While it is common to do binary partition for high-dimensional data, we choose less number of dimensions than needed for binary partition and split several times along that dimensions so that we can reduce the number of grid cells touched by a query. Several experimental results show that the proposed estimation model gives accuracy within 0.5% error ratio regardless of query size and dimension. We can also improve the performance of declustering algorithm based on mapping function, called Kronecker Sequence, which has been known to be the best among the mapping functions for high-dimensional data, up to 23 times by applying an efficient GRID partitioning scheme.
A Transformation Technique of XML Schema into Relational Schema Based-on Inlining

When any data-centric XML documents are stored and managed in RDBMS, schema extracting from XML Schema is an imminent problem. Furthermore, when they are stored in partitioned way on created table, lots of null values will be produced and/or be increased cost for join, so we need a solution to solve these problems. This paper proposes a Schema Hybrid Inlining technique to generate relational schema of XML documents. The suggested technique creates a relational schema based on the XML Schema graph. Also, the technique expands the legacy Inlining method by manual and heuristic processing table generation method of cardinality and in-degree. Then, an ancestor node, terminal node, and creating a new table on the derived relation in this technique. DTD-dependent storage method uses partitioned storing and relation path element information reformed structured-searching method to reduce joining operation cost that is a weak point of it.
Frequent Pattern Bayesian Classification for ECG Pattern Diagnosis

Electrocardiogram being the recording of the heart′s electrical activity provides valuable clinical information about heart′s status. Many re-searches have been pursued for heart disease diagnosis using ECG so far. However, electrocardio-graph uses foreign diagnosis algorithm due to inaccuracy of diagnosis results for a heart disease. This paper suggests ECG data collection, data preprocessing and heart disease pattern classification using data mining. This classification technique is the FB(Frequent pattern Bayesian) classifier and is a combination of two data mining problems, naive bayesian and frequent pattern mining. FB uses Product Approximation construction that uses the discovered frequent patterns. Therefore, this method overcomes weakness of naive bayesian which makes the assumption of class conditional independence.
A Log Analyzer for Database Tuning

Database logs contain various information on database operations, but they are used to recover database systems from failures generally. This paper proposes a log analysis tool that provides useful information for database tuning. This tool provides users with information on work-load organization, database schemas, and resources usages of queries. This paper describes the tool in views of its architecture, functions, implementation, and verification. The tool is verified by running the TPC-W benchmark, and representative analysis results are also presented.
An Efficient Web Search Method Based on a Style-based Keyword Extraction and a Keyword Mining Profile

With the popularization of a World Wide Web (WWW), the quantity of web information has been increased. Therefore, an efficient searching system is needed to offer the exact result of diverse Information to user. Due to this reason, it is important to extract and analysis of user requirements in the distributed information environment. The conventional searching method used the only keyword for the web searching. However, the searching method proposed in this paper adds the context information of keyword for the effective searching. In addition, this searching method extracts keywords by the new keyword extraction method proposed in this paper and it executes the web searching based on a keyword mining profile generated by the extracted keywords. Unlike the conventional searching method which searched for information by a representative word, this searching method proposed in this paper is much more efficient and exact. This is because this searching method proposed in this paper is searched by the example based query included content information as well as a representative word. Moreover, this searching method makes a domain keyword list in order to perform search quietly. The domain keyword is a representative word of a special domain. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by a series of experiments to identify its various characteristic.
A Study of Integrating ASP Databases with Customer Databases

In the ASP(Application Service Provider) business, applications using database sometimes require some data from clients′ databases. These days such data are extracted from client database using manual database operations as an EXCEL file and the ASP, once receiving this file, transfers it into the application′s database using manual database operations. This paper describes how to deal with data transmitting between the client database and ASP database on the web without using database manual operations for data extraction and insertion. We propose a framework which enables to transmit client data in a systematical way, to match different attribute names of each database for sharing same attribute values, and to avoid exposing information about the network path of client database to the ASP. This approach consists of two steps of data processing. The first is extracting data from client database as XML format by using a downloaded client program from ASP site, the second is uploading and storing the XML file into the ASP database. The implemented prototype system shows the suggested data integration paradigm is valid and ASP business needing integration of client database can be activated using it.
Design and Implementation of Contents Conversion System for Wireless Internet

Wireless internet is embossed the new keyword of IT technology in the world lately. The wireless internet is the architecture, technology and service to be can taken data communication and internet service using wireless device through connecting internet in the wireless environment. These wireless internet technology is extends the scope of using information with the existing wire internet technology. But, It is necessary to be extend supply of quantitative and qualitative for using wireless internet technology efficiently. For these matters, it is efficient to reuse good qualify contents that is serviced on wire environments. Then, in this paper, design and implement the technique of creating con-tents that is made by the method of compounding parts based on the contents automatic reuse technology over the concept of creating new wireless contents.
Design and Implementation of an Automated Tool for Inconsistency Detection among Application System Development Products

Normally, formalization and standardization are followed while doing any system analysis and design. But, in actual system development, products can′t be written using the automated tool for all products due to their own characteristics. That results the inconsistency among development products and various kinds of problem can occur in the products. In this paper, we present a technique that supports consistency among products of analysis and design phase developed according to object oriented method. And, this paper also presents the implementation tool.
A Study on the Component Development For e-Business Application Systems

An electronic services which are based on Internet/Intranet business transactions are available to e-market places and get the broader business concepts. Component-based e-commerce technology is a recent trend towards resolving the e-commerce chanange at both system and ap-plication levels. The basic capabilities of component based systems should include the plug and play features at various granularities, interoper-ability across networks and mobility in various networking environments. E-business application developers are attempting to more towards web-service as a mechanism for developing component-based web-applications. Traditional process and development models are inadequately architectured to meet the rapidly evolving needs for the future of scalable web services. In this thesis, we focus specifically on the issues of e-business system architecture based on web service for establishing e-business system. We specifies and identifies design pattern for applying e-business domain in the context of multiple entities. We investigate prototype and frameworks to develope components for e-business application based suggested process. We present a worked example to demonstrate the behavior of Customer Authentication System(CAS) development with component and recommend process. Final]Y, we indicate and view on future directions in component-based development in the context of electronic business.
Development of Support Package for the Software Quality Assurance

The organization and company′s effort to improve software qualify contributes to the increase of software productivity and quality in some sense. However, it has not been a solution of root causes. This result is caused not because of people or technology, but process in-stitutionalization. Recently SQA (Software Quality Assurance), which provide mechanism to make sure that the software development process and products follow the assigned requirements, plan and standards, is applied to achieve the quality improvements. Several standards and models are developed for SQA activities. However, those standards and mode]s are written in form and do not provide information related to the detailed procedures, methods and outputs. Therefore, the organizations that want to adopt those models or standards have to put a lot of effort to acquire the knowledge about the models and to set up SQA Process that is tailored to meet organization′s goal and objectives. In this research, we developed SQA support package to support the organization to develop their SQA process in more convenient and systematic ways. With this package, the organizations can establish SQA Process by tailoring those features necessary to reflect organization′s characteristics. We expect this package contribute the organizations in a way that it reduce the effort and cost for establishing SQA process.
A Software Manpower Profile for Software Development Life Cycle

Successful project planning relies on a good estimation of the manpower required to complete a project. The good estimation can be derived from Rutnam''s Rayleigh Model or Phillai et al.′s Gamma Model. These models only can be applied for the projects which the need of manpower is increased exponentially and the highest of manpower is required at the end of development phase. However, in a practical project, most manpower is required during development phase and a small amount of manpower is assigned during maintenance phase. In addition, the Waterfall Model and Unified Process only can be adopted for development phase. So the current development environments cannot be adopted into the existing manpower distribution models which the highest manpower is required at the end of development phase. This paper suggests an appropriate model for development phase to solve this problem. First, the appropriate manpower distribution for development phase of the Waterfall model was derived from Putnam''s manpower distribution and then manpower distribution of development phase was derived for Unified Process. After comparing the required manpower of two Processes, total manpower distribution is similar each other even though the required manpower and task is different for each point of development phase. From this result, a unified model is derived and it can be applied for both development processes.
Design Pattern Base4 Component Classification and Retrieval using E-SARM

This paper proposes a method to classify and retrieve components in repository using the idea of domain orientation for the successful reuse of components. A design pattern was applied to existing systems and a component classification method is suggested here to compare the structural similarity between each component in relevant domain and criterion patterns. Classifying reusable components by their functionality and then depicting their structures with a diagram can increase component reusability and portability between platforms. Efficiency of component reuse can be raised because the most appropriate component to query and similar candidate components are provided in priority by use of-SARM algorithm.
A Framework for Developing Distributed Application with Web-Tier Object Modeling

To develop multi-tier model or distributed architecture based distributed application needs to consider various aspects such as division of role between web-designer and software developer, defining entity and its usage, database connection and transaction processing etc. This paper presents DONSL(Data Server of Non SQL-Query) architecture that provides solution to above aspects through web-tier object modeling. This is the architecture that guarantees the transaction processing and performance between web-tier and DBMS through simplified usage of query logic property. This new conceptual framework also solves enterprise site implementation problems simplifying tier, and removing DAO(Data Access Object) and entity.
Reconstructing Web Broadcasting Information based on User Retrieval Pattern

Today the fastest growing communities of web users are mobile visitors who browse web page with wireless PDAs and cellular phones. However, most web pages are optimiaed exclusively for desktop clients on the broadband network and are inconvenient to users with small screen mobile devices. They display only a few lines of text and cannot run client-side programs or scripts due to lack of system resource. Even worse, their connections are usually slow to support most of the data-intensive applications. In this paper, we propose a pageslet scheme that makes it feasible to browse ordinary web pages on small screen mobile devices. It extracts broadcasting sections of user preference from broadcasting web pages and automatically reorganizes the extracted sections for convenient browsing on mobile devices.
MPEG-4 Based Multimedia Synchronization Model and Application

This paper describes a multimedia synchronization model based on the MPEG-4(Moving Picture Expert Group) system. It defines and modifies new nodes for representing temporal relationships between media objects in the BIFS(Binary Format for Scene) of MPEG-4 system which Integrates, manages and transfers multimedia objects such as audio, video, image, etc. The relationships are represented by using a multimedia temporal model during the start, play and delay time interval. In addition, we illustrate a multimedia authoring system that includes the Interface used for defining the temporal relationships. Differently from several contentional tools generally appropriate for professional users who can edit the BIFS nodes of themselves, the system provides end-users with the function that can define the temporal relationships of multimedia objects directly in the interface.
Implementation of Uncertainty Processor for Tracking Vehicle Trajectory

Along the advent of Internet technology, the computing environment has been considerably changed in many application domains. Especially, a lot of researches for e-Logistics have been done for the last 3 years. The e-Logistics means the virtual business activity and service architecture among the logistics companies based on the Internet technology. To construct effectively the e-Logistics framework, researches on the development of the Moving Object Technology(MOT) including GPS and GIS with spatiotemporal databases technique so far has been done The Moving Object Technology stands for the efficient management for the spatiotemporal objects such as vehicles, airplanes, and vessels which change continuously their spatial location along with time flows. However, most systems manage just only the location information detected lately by many reasons so that the uncertainty processing for the past and future location of the moving objects is still very hard. In this paper, we propose the moving object uncertainty model and system design for e-Logistics applications. The MOMS architecture in e-Logistics is suggested and the detailed explain of sub-systems including the uncertainty processor of moving objects is described. We also explain the comprehensive examples of MOMS and uncertainty processing in Delivery Parcel Application that is one of major application of e-Logistics domain.
A Multi-Agent Platform Capable of Handling Ad Hoc Conversation Policies

Multi-agent systems have been developed for supporting intelligent collaboration of distributed and independent software entities and are be-ing widely used for various applications. For the collaboration among agents, conversation policies (or interaction protocols) mutually agreed by agents are used. In today′s dynamic electronic market environment, there can be frequent changes in conversation policies induced by the changes in transaction methods in the market, and thus, the importance of ad hoc conversation policies is increasing. In existing agent platforms, they allow the use of only several standard or fixed conversation policies, which requires inevitable re implementation for ad hoc conversation policies and leads to inefficiency and intricacy. This paper designs an agent platform that supports ad hoc conversation policies and presents the prototype implementation. The suggested system includes an exchangeable and interpretable conversation policy model, a meta conversation procedure for exchanging new conversation policies, and a mechanism for performing actual transactions with exchanged conversation policies in run time in an adaptive way.
Recommending System of Products on e-shopping malls based on CBR and RBR

It is a major concern of e-shopping mall managers to satisfy a variety of customer's desire by recommending a proper product to the perspective purchaser. Customer information like customer''s fondness, age, gender, etc. in shopping has not been used effectively for the customers or the suppliers. Conventionally, e-shopping mall managers have recommended specific items of products to their customers without considering thoroughly in a customer point of view. This study introduces the ways of a choosing and recommending of products using case-based reasoning and rule-based reasoning for customer themselves or others. A similarity measure between one member's idiosyncrasy and the other members' is developed based on the rule base and the case base. The case base is improved for the system intelligence by recognizing and learning the changes of customer's desire and shopping trend.
Development and Application of the Metadata Element for the Digital Comic Content

Rights process problem was stated among actors that participated in digital contents distribution while it was various type of digital content service. In order to solve it, It was expressed conceptual and technical elements by reflecting a system. Among them, the interoperability of metadata became a important issue. As for the metadata for contents service, necessity about standardization is stated as a basic framework composing a service system. This paper proposed the metadata element which focus on the rights process that is being a key factor of a DRM(Digital Right Management) system for digital comics contents service. Therefore, it was verified by using Context Model of MPEG-21 RDD with interoperability between metadata elements which developed a XML format and the existing MPEG-21 RDD elements. The study results will become basic materials in the system design that considered metadata element development and interoperability of digital contents of other field
Goods Recommendation Sysrem using a Customer’s Preference Features Information

As electronic commerce systems have been widely used, the necessity of adaptive e-commerce agent systems has been increased. These kinds of adaptive e-commerce agents can monitor customer's behaviors and cluster thou in similar categories, and include user's preference from each category. In order to implement our adaptive e-commerce agent system, in this paper, we propose an adaptive e-commerce agent systems consider customer's information of interest and goodwill ratio about preference goods. Proposed system build user's profile more accurately to get adaptability for user's behavior of buying and provide useful product information without inefficient searching based on such user's profile. The proposed system composed with three parts , Monitor Agent which grasps user's intension using monitoring, similarity reference Agent which refers to similar group of behavior pattern after teamed behavior pattern of user, Interest Analyzing Agent which personalized behavior DB as a change of user's behavior.
