A Concurrency Control Method of Mobile Real-time Transactions Using Committed Transaction Precedence

With the significant advances in mobile computing technology, there is an increasing demand for various mobile applications to process trans-actions in a real-time. When remote data access is considered in a mobile environment, data access delay becomes one of the most serious problems in meeting the deadline of real-time transaction. The mobile real-time transaction should be assured not only correctness of result of trans-action but also completion time of transaction. In this paper, we propose an optimistic concurrency control method to solve conflict among mobile real-time transactions. It minimizes influence on the cascade abort and delay of transactions that occur by disconnection and hand over in a mobile environment.
A Cell-based Indexing for Managing Current Location Information of Moving Objects

In mobile environments, the locations of moving objects such as vehicles, airplanes and users of wireless devices continuously change over time. For efficiently processing moving object information, the database system should be able to deal with large volume of data, and manage indexing efficiently. However, previous research on indexing method mainly focused on query performance, and did not pay attention to update operation for moving objects. In this paper, we propose a novel moving object indexing method, named ACAR-Tree. For processing efficiently frequently updating of moving object location information as well as query performance, the proposed method is based on fixed grid structure with auxiliary R-Tree. This hybrid structure is able to overcome the poor update performance of R-Tree which is caused by reorganizing of R-Tree. Also, the proposed method is able to efficiently deal with skewed-. or gaussian distribution of data using auxiliary R-Tree. The experimental results using various data size and distribution of data show that the proposed method has reduced the size of index and improve the update and query performance compared with R-Tree indexing method.
Development of Moving Object Management System for Vehicle Monitoring/Control Management in e-Logistics Environment

By virtue of the advanced Internet technology, there are lots of research works for e-Logistics which means virtual business activities or service architecture based on the Internet among the logistics companies. Because e-Logistics environment requires more dynamic and global service area, conventional vehicle monitoring and control technologies innate many problems in terms of Integrating, storing and sharing the location data. It needs the development of the moving object technology in order to resolve efficiently the limitations. In this paper, we propose the whole components of the moving object management system which supports the advanced sharing the location information as well as the integration of location data. We are sure the suggested system can be adopted to construct the next generation-logistics vehicle monitoring and control system by reducing the overall cost and time.
Implementation of Open Moving Object Presentation System Based on GML.

The integration and union of regional digital map and vehicle location data in e-Logistics which means virtual service architecture based on the Internet among the logistics companies is indispensable clause in order to satisfy the visibility characteristics. Most conventional vehicle monitoring and controlling systems were constructed with individual and mutual exclusive architecture so that there are required lots of cost for sharing and integrating the information among them. In this paper, we design and implement an component-based open system which represent moving object location information as well as digital map using the GML(Geography Markup Language - international standard encoding based on XML). We also test proposed system on the delivery vehicle scenario in e-Logistics environment, and validate its superior in terms of extensibility and interoperability.
Design and Implementation of Open Service Platform for LBS

The LBS(Location-Based Service), which is based on individual′s mobility, is required increasingly as mobile telecommunication and various infrastructures have developed rapidly. The technologies for LBS are location determination technology, service platform technology, contents provider technology and moving object database technology generally. Among these, service platform must be interoperable with location gate-way server and provide common function of billing, authentification, protect location information, privacy control, location trigger and intelligent acquisition and so on. The TTA(Telecommunications Technology Association) published specification that defines a standard protocol for safe and simple interface between LBS client and LBS platform and the OpenLS(Open Location Service) in OGC (Open GIS Consortium) released implementation specifications for providing Location based core services. In this paper, we implemented service platform for LBS which is able to interoperable with location gateway server and contents provider and is caracterized as follows. First, it could require and response location information from different types of location gateway server with same interface. Second, it complies with the standard interfaces with OpenLS 4 contents providers for core LBS. Third, it could provide location of wired phone as well as wireless mobile terminal compling with the standard protocol. Last, it could provide trajectorH information based past location as well as current location, because it is able to interoperable with moving object DBMS. This paper contributes to the construction and practical use of LBS by providing the method of implementation of service platform for LBS.
Virtual Target Overlay Technique by Matching 3D Satellite Image and Sensor Image

To organize training in limited training area for an actuai combat, realistic training simulation plugged in by various battle conditions is essential. In this paper, we propose a virtual target overlay technique which does not use a virtual image, but Projects a virtual target on ground-based CCD image by appointed scenario for a realistic training simulation. In the proposed method, we create a realistic 3D model (for an instructor) by using high resolution Geographic Tag Image File Format(GeoTIFF) satellite image and Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), and extract the road area from a given CCD image (for both an instructor and a trainee). Satellite images and ground-based sensor images have many differences in observation position, resolution, and scale, thus yielding many difficulties in feature-based matching. Hence, we propose a moving synchronization technique that projects the target on the sensor image according to the marked moving path on 3D satellite image by applying Thin-Plate Spline(TPS) interpolation function, which is an image warping function, on the two given sets of corresponding control point pair. To show the experimental result of the proposed method, we employed two Pentium4 1.8MHz personal computer systems equipped with 512MBs of RAM, and the satellite and sensor images of Daejoen area are also been utilized. The experimental result revealed the effective-ness of proposed algorithm.
The Comparison of Parameter Estimation for Nonhomogeneous Poisson Process Software Reliability Model

The Parameter Estimation for software existing reliability models, Goel-Okumoto, Yamada-Ohba-Osaki model was reviewed and Rayleigh model based on Rayleigh distribution was studied. In this paper, we discusses comparison of parameter estimation using maximum likelihood estimator and Bayesian estimation based on Gibbs sampling to analysis of the estimator′ pattern. Model selection based on sum of the squared errors and Braun statistic, for the sake of efficient model, was employed. A numerical example was illustrated using real data. The current areas and models of Superposition, mixture for future development are also employed.
A Weight Decision Technique of Quality Characteristics in Software Development Life Cycle

The concern and request of high-quality software has been increased according to the rapid transition of society to information-oriented era. Therefore activities of software quality management are regarded as serious as the activities of software development. Moreover, stakeholder of software may have various views of software quality. And some quality characteristics need to be managed with priorities in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Hence we recognized that weights of quality characteristics might be useful to improve efficiency of quality management activities. However, this topic has not actively issued because its necessity and effectiveness has been ignored. This paper presents a technique to decide weights of software quality characteristics in SDLC. It is based on ISO/IEC 9126 which is the standard for software product quality. It is accomplished by questionnaires intended for stakeholder in software development and weight analysis through AHP (Analytic Hierarchical Process) method. Accordingly, it can select quality characteristics by weight in SDLC. And then it helps us to acquire high duality software through measuring software quality quantitatively and expecting the quality after completion of software development.
A Coverage-Based Software Reliability Growth Model for Imperfect Fault Detection and Repeated Construct Execution

Recently relationships between reliability measures and the coverage have been developed for evaluation of software reliability. Particularly the mean value function of the coverage-based software reliability growth model is important because of its key role in rep-resenting the software reliability growth. In this paper, we first review the problems of the existing mean value functions with respect to the assumptions on which they are based. Then a new mean value function is proposed. The new mean value function is developed for a general testing environment in which imperfect fault detection and repeated construct execution are allowed. Finally performance of the proposed model is empirically evaluated by applying it to a real data set.
Abstraction of Models with State Projections In Model Checking

Although model checking has gained its popularity as one of the most effective approaches to the formal verification, it has to deal with the state explosion problem to be widely used in industry. In order to mitigate the problem, this paper proposes an ion technique to obtain a reduced model M′ from a given original model M. Our technique Identifies the set of necessary variables for model checking and projects the state space onto them. The model M′ is smaller in both size and behavior than the original model M, written M′≤M. Since the result of reachability analysis with M′ is preserved in M, we can do reachability analysis with model checking using M′ instead of M. The abstraction technique is applied to Push Push games, and two model checkers - Cadence SMV and NuSMV - are used to solve the games. As a result, most of unsolved games with the usual model checking are solved with the ion technique. In addition, ion shows that there is much of time and space improvement. With Cadence SMV, there is 87% time improvement and 79% space one. And there is 83% time improvement and 56% space one with NuSMV
Design and Implementation of Distributed Pair Programming System based on IDE

In distributed office, the pairs can program together using a distributed pair programming system. Many CSCW tools featuring remote screen sharing function have insufficient usability, accessibility to introduce many developers to distributed pair programming. In this paper, we suggest a distributed pair programming system based on IDE, which many developers will accept and use easily. We have do#eloped a user scenario and GUI of the system, making distributed pair programming easier and designed with high extensibility by adapting design patterns and implemented in Java language. Our findings will be of significant help to developers dealing with implementation of distributed pair programming function into some commercial IDE.
A Study on a Remote Leakage Sensing System in Waterworks Network

Demand of water is increased according to city centralism phenomenon in population and development. In this progress, guarantee of enough water is important factor for water supply policy. For the detection of exact water leakage point, an epochal sensing technique using computer and internet is required, so, the water pipe having sensing wire and sensing technology using TDR(Time Domain Reflectometer), is proposed in this paper. For the prove of effectiveness of this system, pilot system using 300mm 3-layer coated steel pipe is made and tested.
Design and Implementation of a Document-Oriented and Web-Based Nuclear Design Automation System

To automate nuclear design works which are time-consuming and man-power intensive, Innovative Design Processor (
) is being developed. Two basic principles of IDP are the document-oriented design and the web-based design. The document-oriented design is that, if the designer writes a design document called active document and feeds it to a special program which has a robust parser, the finai document with complete analysis, table and plots is made automatically. The active documents can be written with ordinary HTML/XML editors or created automatically on the web, which is another framework of IDP. Using the proper mix-up of server side and client side programming under the LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) environment, the design process on the web is modeled as a design wizard style so that even a novice designer makes the design document easily.
Design and Implementation of 3D Web Service based on ASE File and Model Database

The purpose of this paper is to implement Web 3D environment that is not provider - oriented but client-oriented in order to provide dynamic information and to analyze knowledges by executing programs on Web pages. For these, The 3D Viewer program that parses and renders ASE files - the most general 3D Model Data file and exported text file of 3D Max Studio - is made and then converted into ActiveX 3D Viewer Component that can be used on the Web. With the purpose of managing ASE and texture file efficiently and interacting between clients and server, ActiveX Component link ASP and Database with Web Service. The 3D View Web Service can make dynamic information and cooperative works easier in Networked Virtual Reality.
A Study on Image Electronic Money based on Watermarking Technique

This study introduces a technology utilizing digital images as electronic money by inserting watermark into the images. Watermarking technology assign contents ID to images and inserts the contents ID into the images in an unnoticeable way. The server that manages the issue and the usage of mage electronic money (called ‘WaterCash’ hereafter) stores issued contents ID to database and manage them as electronic money. WaterCash guarantees anonymity and prevents the forgery and modification of WaterCash based on semi-fragile watermarking technique. In addition, WaterCash is transferable and the illegal use of WaterCash can be prevented based on the watermarking technology. The watermarking .technology used in this paper was designed to be robust to image compression but vulnerable to intentional or non-intentional Image processing.
Design and Implementation of the ebXML Standard Conformance and Interoperability Testing Tools

As of an international standard in e-business domains, ebXML solutions are required to be tested and authenticated whether they can satisfy the conformance and interoperability requirements. In this paper, we design and implement the ebXML conformance and interoperability testing tools that observe the standard specification in conformity with ebXML Message Service v2.0, ebXML Registry Service v2.0 and ebXML CPP/A Y2.0. With this regard, our research would serve in building the verification and authentication service infrastructure for fitting standard ebXML e-business solutions with ebXML conformance and interoperability testing tools.
