Storage and Retrieval of XML Documents Without Redundant Path Information

This Paper Proposes an approach that removes the redundancy of Path information and uses an inverted index, as an efficient way to store a large volume of XML documents and to retrieve wanted information from there. An XML document is decomposed into nodes based on its tree structure, and stored in relational tables according to the node type, with path information from the root to each node. The existing methods using path information store data for all element paths, which cause retrieval performance to be decreased with increased data volume. Our approach stores only data for leaf element path excluding internal element paths. As the inverted index is made by the leaf element path only, the number of posting lists by key words become smaller than those of the existing methods. For the storage and retrieval of U data, our approach doesn't require the XML schema information of XML documents and any extension of relational database. We demonstrate the better performance of on approach than the existing approaches within the scope of our experiment.
Distance Browsing Query Processing using Query Result Set

Distance browsing queries, namely k-nearest neighbor queries, are the most important queries in spatial database applications, e.g., Geographic Information Systems(GISs). Recently, GIS applications trends to extend themselves toward wide multi-user environments such as the Web. Since many techniques for such queries, where Hjaltason and Samet's algorithm is the most efficient one, were optimized for only one query, we need to complement them suitable for multi-user environments. It can be a good approach that we store many individual query results in a cache, i.e., query result caching and reuse them in evaluating incoming queries, j.e., query result matching. In this paper, we propose a complementary Hjaltason and Samet's algerian capable of reusing previous query results in a cache for answering distance browsing queries in multi-user GIS environments. Our experimental results conform the efficiency of our approach.
Detecting Harmful Web Documents Based on Web Document Analyses

A huge amount of web documents, which are published on the Internet, provide to users not only helpful information but also harmful information such as pornography. In this paper we propose a method to detect the harmful web documents effectively. We first analyze harmful web documents, and extract factors to determine whether a given web document is harmful. Detail criteria are also described to assign a harmfulness score to each factor. Then the harmfulness score of a web document is computed by adding the harmfulness scores of all factors. If the harmfulness score of a web document is greater than a given threshold, the web document is detected as harmful. It is expected that this study could contribute to the protection of users from harmful web documents on the Internet.
Design and Implementation of Query Classification Component in Multi-Level DBMS for Location Based Service

Various systems are used to provide the location based services. But, the existing systems have some problems which have difficulties in dealing with faster services for above million people. In order to solve it, a multi-level DBMS which supports both fast data processing and large data management support should be used. The multi-level DBMS with snapshots has all the data existing in disk database and the data which are required to be processed for fast processing are managed in main memory database as snapshots. To optimize performance of this system for location based services, the query classification component which classifies the queries for efficient snapshot usage is needed. In this paper, the query classification component in multi-level DBMS for location based services is designed and implemented. The proposed component classifies queries into three types: (1) memory query, (2) disk query, (3) hybrid query, and increases the rate of snapshot usage. In addition, it applies division mechanisms which divide aspatial and spatial filter condition for partial snapshot usage. Hence, the proposed component enhances system performance by maximizing the usage of snapshot as a result of the efficient query classification.
Design and Implementation of a SQL based Moving Object Query Process System for Controling Transportation Vehicle

It becomes easy and generalized to track the cellular phone users and vehicles according to the Progress of wireless telecommunication, the spread of network, and the miniaturization of terminal devices. It has been constantly studied to provide location based services to furnish suitable services depending on the positions of customers. Various vehicle tracking and management systems are developed to utilize and manage the vehicle locations to relieve the congestion of traffic and to smooth transportation. However the designed previous work can not evaluated in real world, because most of previous work is only designed not implemented and it is developed for simple model to handle a point, a line, a polygon object. Therefore, we design a moving object query language and implement a vehicle management system to search the positions and trajectories of vehicles and to analyze the cost of transportation effectively. The designed query language based on a SQL can be utilized to get the trajectories between two specific places, the departure time, the arrival time of vehicles, and the predicted uncertainty positions, etc. In addition, the proposed moving object query language for managing transportation vehicles is useful to analyze the cost of trajectories in a variety of moving object management system containing transportation.
A Design and Application of HLA-Based Air Defense Simulation Framework

To correspond with the unpredictable future tactical environment, Ive expanded the application of M&S(Modeling & Simulation) that is more scientific and more economic in a field of weapon system development process. This paper describes experience in development of ADSF(Air Defense Simulation Framework) that supports not only HLA(High Level Architecture) which is an international standard in M&S but also TCP/IP as well as real-time distributed simulation. ADSF has been applied to the M-SAM(Medium Range Surface to Air Missile) System Simulator, and satisfying test results through GPS(Global Positioning System) timer has been acquired. As a result, an ADSF which is able to support HLA and TCP/IP as veil as precise real-time simulation has been successfully made. we were in need or a real-time simulation engine to support Air Defense System Simulators that were consisted of several subsystems.
Automated Method of Landmark Extraction for Protein 2DE Images based on Multi-dimensional Clustering

2-dimensional electrophoresis(2DE) is a separation technique to identify proteins contained in a sample. However, the image is very sensitive to its experimental conditions as well as the quality of scanning. In order to adjust the possible variation of spots in a particular image, a user should manually annotate landmark spots on each gel image to analyze the spots of different images together. However, this operation is an error-prone and tedious job. This thesis develops an automated method of extracting the landmark spots of an image based on landmark profile. The landmark profile is created by clustering the previously identified landmarks of sample images of the same type. The profile contains the various properties of clusters identified for each landmark. When the landmarks of a new image need to be fount all the candidate spots of each landmark are first identified by examining the properties of its clusters. Subsequently, all the landmark spots of the new image are collectively found by the well-known optimization algorithm
. The performance of this method is illustrated by various experiments on real 2DE images of mouse's brain-tissues.
Development of Technical Reference Model and Standard Profile Management System

MND(Ministry of National Defense) has developed MND AF(Ministry of National Defense Architecture Framework) and CADM(Core Architecture Data Model) to guarantee interoperability among defense information systems. TRM(Technical Reference Model) and SP(Standard Profile) product defined in MND AF is core part of Information Technology Architecture and core element of interoperability guarantee. In this paper, we proposed a method which manages technical service and standard of TRM and SP, and developed TRM and SP management system based on the method. TRM and SP management system provides the basis for interoperability among information systems and a more efficient development and management of TRM and SP product.
A Development Cost Estimation at Initial Phase for Military Software Using Backfiring Approach

As the portion of software cost in construction of the system related to the national defence is getting higher, the required accuracy of cost estimation on defense software in development is also getting higher. The PRICE S is used to estimate the software cost at the first stage in the development of software promptly. However, the PRICE S is appropriate for the American environment not for the Korean circumstances. Thus, we will present a method to compensate the PRICE S with comparing with the model of Korea Software Industry Association. Moreover, we also present another method to estimate software cost based on function point with backfiring approach, which will be used for the software projects planned. Finally, we expect that our works will provide a solution for applying the function point in the future and will increase the accuracy of cost estimation in software development.
A Study on Checklist for Improving Interoperability of Advanced Defense Component Development Methodology(ADDMe)

Defence Information System has surely required the guarantee of interoperability between systems as performing task oriented functions. To improve interoperability between them and use the benefits of component based development, defense officers are planning to develop COE like a kind of component bank concept. Defense component development methodology(ADDMe) within COE is a new approach of component based methodology for Defense environment after comparing, analyzing, and synthesizing with traditional CBDs. In this paper we introduce advanced defense component development methodology(ADDMe) and present checklist for improving interoperability between Defence component based systems which are developed with ADDMe. With our proposed interoperability's checklist, we can improve interoperability of defense component based systems through applying per each phase of ADDMe.
An XML-Based Analysis Tool for Gene Prediction Results

Recently, as it is considered more important to identify the function of ail unknown genes in living things, many tools for gene prediction have been developed to identify genes in the DNA sequences. Unfortunately, most of those tools use their own schemes to represent their programs results, requiring researchers to make additional efforts to understand the result generated by them So, it is desirable to provide a standardized method of representing predicted gene information, which makes it possible to automatically produce the predicted results for a given set of gene data In this paper, we describe an effective U representation for various predicted gene information, and present an XML-based analysis tool for gene predication results based on this representation. The developed system helps users of gene prediction tools to conveniently analyze the predicted results and to automatically produce the statistical results of the prediction. To show the usefulness of the tool, we applied our programs to the results generated by GenScan and GeneID, which are widely used gene prediction systems.
Web-based XML Tree Builder for XML Service Program Development

For the excellent U web services, the program developers should create both user's client program and the sewer program Recently, the structural alteration of programs are often caused by infernal and external environment concerned with social trends and preferences as well as user's requirements expectations. So, for reducing the development time and workload of XML web service programs, it is necessary to develop the web program generation tools. This paper suggest how to design and implement the web-based XML Tree builder, which was able to provide the information for promptly and easily generating the XML Schema, XML Stylesheet and XML Document through the XML Development Supporting Server System.
XML Query-Expansion by Ontology-DTD Match

If XML queries are expanded based on ontology, broader search may be possible. On the other hand, queries that are not adequate to target documents may also degrade the search efficiency. We try to improve query adequacy by expanding query based on a reduced ontology, which is the result of ontology and target DTD match. The match considers ontology concepts and DTD elements as well as ontology and DTD attributes. Since the reduced ontology can improve the hit ratio of queries and also be successively reusable for XML documents of a kind, the proposed method can improve XML search efficiency.
Design and Implementation of the Conversion Rule between XML and MTF Messages

MTF message is the normalized and standardized format which is used in the time when it tries to transmit data to other systems or exchanges needed information in defense message systems. XML can support variety of search functionality and is estimated to be the best way from the view of efficient presentation and exchange in internet based environment, based on advantage which is independent of hardware and software. US army brought in XML-MTF combining with XML based technology, but we do not contain such a MTF system, and necessity of MTF is increasing for combined operation between ROK and US as a lot of C4I system were transferred to Web based systems. In this paper, we make analysis of fundamental structure, organization of paragraph, witting regulation of MTF message. We present the rule of naming element and fundamental mapping rule for transformation of its XML based on it. Also, we prove that MTF message can be transformed to XML document by trying to transforming sample documents to XML document applying presented mapping rule, creating MTF message based on it and implement program which can automatically transform them to XML-MTF.
Retrieval Model using Subject Classification Table, User Profile, and LSI

Because existing information retrieval systems, in particular library retrieval systems, use 'exact keyword matching' with user's query, they present user with massive results including irrelevant information. So, a user spends extra effort and time to get the relevant information from the results. Thus, this paper will propose SULRM a Retrieval Model using Subject Classification Table, User profile, and LSI(Latent Semantic Indexing), to provide more relevant results. SULRM uses document filtering technique for classified data and document ranking technique for non-classified data in the results of keyword-based retrieval. Filtering technique uses Subject Classification Table, and ranking technique uses user profile and LSI. And, we have performed experiments on the performance of filtering technique, user profile updating method, and document ranking technique using the results of information retrieval system of our university' digital library system. In case that many documents are retrieved proposed techniques are able to provide user with filtered data and ranked data according to user's subject and preference.
An Integration of Legacy Nuclear Simulation Code into HLA Federation using Shared Memory

The objective of the In-h(High Level Architecture) have recommended by DoD(Department of Defense) is to facilitate interoperability among simulations and to promote reuse of their components. There are many legacy simulation softwares developed before the HLA becomes simulation standard. The integration of legacy simulations into federations using the HLA is an important research topic in M&S(Modeling and Simulation) area. Legacy simulation softwares of the mission critical industry such as nuclear and aerospace are generally use Fortran language. However, the reuse of those is not easy because the HLA is not support Fortran language. This paper suggests a integration method which minimizes the modification of legacy simulation software and migrates the legacy simulation software to HLA federation. Each federate participating in federation have the separated executables that communicate via a shared memory created at run-time. Two types of shared memory blocks are used for publication and subscription. Declaration block for global variables used in legacy simulation software is separated for publication and subscription and then mapped as classes of objects and interactions for the HLA FOM design. To validate the suggested method, we approached the HLA integration of legacy nuclear simulation code being used in plant design and to observe the integration results, we used the FMT(Federation Management Tool). The diagnostic information which the FTM displays showed that our method can be successfully and effectively used for a HLA federation.
