Attribute-based Approach for Multiple Continuous Queries over Data Streams

A data stream is a massive unbounded sequence of data elements continuously generated at a rapid rate. Query processing for such a data stream should also be continuous and rapid, which requires strict time and space constraints. In most DSMS(Data Stream Management System), the selection predicates of continuous queries are grouped or indexed to guarantee these constraints. This paper proposes a new scheme tailed an ASC(Attribute Selection Construct) that collectively evaluates selection predicates containing the same attribute in multiple continuous queries. An ASC contains valuable information, such as attribute usage status, partially pre calculated matching results and selectivity statistics for its multiple selection predicates. The processing order of those ASC's that are corresponding to the attributes of a base data stream can significantly influence the overall performance of multiple query evaluation. Consequently, a method of establishing an efficient evaluation order of multiple ASC's is also proposed. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is analyzed by a series of experiments to identify its various characteristics.
An Efficient Continuous Range Query Processing Through Grid based Query Indexing

In this paper, we propose an efficient continuous range query processing scheme using a modified grid based query indexing to reduce storage spaces and to accelerate processing time. The proposed method has two major features. First, each query has a bit identifier and each cell in a grid has a bit pattern that consists of the bit identifiers of the queries. The bit patterns present the relationship between cells and queries. Using the bit patterns, we can compute quickly what queries overlap a cell in a grid and reduce the number of unnecessary operations by comparing the bit patterns without comparing the query identifiers when we compute the relation between cells and queries. Second, the management of cells in the grid by groups prevents from wasting the storage space through the increase of the length of the bit pattern and increasing the comparison costs of bit patterns. We show through the performance evaluation that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.
Mining Association Rule for the Abnormal Event in Data Stream Systems

Recently mining techniques that analyze the data stream to discover potential information, have been widely studied. However, most of the researches based on the support are concerned with the frequent event, but ignore the infrequent event even if it is crucial. In this paper, we propose SM-AF method discovering association rules to an abnormal event. In considering the window that an abnormal event is sensed, SM-AF method can discover the association rules to the critical event, even if it is occurred infrequently. Also, SM-AF method can discover the significant rare itemsets associated with abnormal event and periodic event itemsets. Through analysis and experiments, we show that SM-AF method is superior to the previous methods of mining association rules.
Automated Classification Scheme Generation using Product Attribute Information

In order to classify and manage on-line trading goods, the product classification scheme must be maintained. In most systems for handling product information, the classification scheme is managed manually by experts, which in general incurs a lot of time and cost. Effective management of classification system becomes more important as rapid development of industry expedites diversity and convergence of goods and services. There have been many researches on developing classification scheme, and continuing in this line of research, this paper proposes a new method for automatic generation of product classification scheme. Our main idea starts from the concept that a product is a set of attributes, and we propose a novel algorithm for automatically creating hierarchical classification scheme by utilizing inclusive relationships between products. We then prove the effectiveness of proposed algorithm by conducting an experiment.
An Experience Type Virtual Reality Training System for CT(Computerized Tomography) Operations

Simulation system was introduced and used a lot in the fields of aviation, vessel, and medical treatment. 3D Simulation system has been used quite insufficiently as it requires a lot of system resource and huge amount of computer calculation. As the graphic card performance and simulation function developed, however, PC based simulation has been activated and is verified of its possibility as an educational software. However, educational institutions need to invest huge amount of budget and manpower to purchase and maintain CT Equipment. For such a reason, educational institutions entrust their students to hospitals for indirect experience of operation or for mere observation. This study, therefore, developed a CT Virtual reality education system with which medical CT Equipment can be directly operated in PC based 3D Virtual environment.
WebGen: a Template-based Web Script Generator

The demand for Web applications that un on databases has been rapidly increased in every area including business. Comparing to this growing demand, it still takes much time to write and maintain Web applications. In this paper, we introduce the Web script generator, WebGen that generates the Web forms as application interface and the Web scripts that process the queries by the forms operating with a database. WebGen generates five Web scripts(Search, Select, Edit, Information, and Action) from built-in templates that are the frames for those scripts by applying the declarative contents of a user-written configuration file. Each script except the Action script generates a corresponding form as user interface. Therefore, WebGen enhances Web application productivity by reducing the development time and effort for Web applications. Unlike the commercial Web script generators, WebGen supports easy version management because it is based on independent templates. Moreover, a WebGen-generated form includes not only the interested entity but also the entities that are related directly and indirectly with the interested entity.
Automated Functionality Test Methods for Web-based Applications

Recently web applications have growl rapidly and have become more and more complex. As web applications become more complex, there is a growing concern about their quality. But very little attentions are paid to web applications testing and there are scarce of the practical research efforts and tools. Thus, in this paper, we suggest the automated testing methods for web applications. For this, the methods generate an analysis model by analyzing the HTML codes and the source codes. Then test targets are identified and test cases are extracted from the analysis model. In addition, test drivers and test data are generated automatically, and then they are depleted on the web server to establish a testing environment. Through this process we can automate the testing processes for web applications, besides the automated methods makes our approach more effective than the existing research efforts.
Verification Checking Mechanisms of Business Processes based on Control Flow Path

As the current trend in e-business has led to more various and complex business processes in recent years, problems in business process models have increased gradually. Accordingly, the concern to validation of business process models has been much larger but there are few validation checking mechanisms supported so far. On the other hand BPMN driven by BPMI is a standard graphical notation. Using the tool supporting BPMN, business process can be modeled graphically and analyzed easily. In this paper, we present technical mechanisms which can efficiently detect anomalies in a process composed of BPMN and are capable of avoiding higher unexpected costs during runtime.
Design and Implementation of User Authentication and Authorization System based on Remote Management Server for Home Network

The user authentication and authorization in the current home network system almost works at home and home users, sometimes novice, should manage the system directly. This situation can make much of troubles, sometimes cause some suity problems. Moreover, the system costs high to build up, demands special user knowledge to maintain. In this paper, we propose the user authentication and authorization system based on remote management server to solve the problems, designed and implemented the system. To verify the system performance and function, we built a demo system for information appliances. The results of the test, the authentication and authorization function works well and reliably.
NS2 based Simulator for Performance Evaluation of P2P Streaming Systems

Internet streaming systems consist of a media server, a streaming sewer, and terminals. The media server delivers multimedia contents such as video and/or audio to the streaming server, which distributes the contents to terminals as well. Existing Internet streaming systems have a bottleneck problem in the streaming server because of the limit of the processing capacity of the streaming server and therefore a streaming server can not accomodate more terminals than the limit. As a solution to this problem, P2P streaming systems have been lately proposed and investigated, using P2P distributed architectures. Actually, however, there exist many difficulties in the design and implementation of P2P streaming systems, because it needs many real computers and various network constructions. In this paper, we have proposed and defined a P2P streaming system model such as the architectural model, the timing model, the behavior model, and the performance metrics. And also we have implemented an NS2 based P2P streaming system simulator called P2PStreamSim. Finally, we have verified it through test simulations and analyzed the results.
Development of a VoWLAN Terminal based on Open Source Software

In this paper, we developed a VoWLAN(Voice over WLAN) system based on an open source software. The system aims to provide VoIP service over wireless LAN with an IP-PBX server. The features of system presented in this paper are as follows. First, the initial cost for the development is reduced since the system is developed based on open source software. Second, the system provides various additional services such as Voice Mail, Conference Call, and Interactive Voice Response with a software IP-PBX server. Third, the VoWLAN terminal provides high-level user applications with minimal system resources using lightweight open software solutions. Finally, it is highly scalable since it is based on the open source software.
