QUISIS: A Query Index Method Using Interval Skip List

Due to the proliferation of the Internet and intranet, new application domains such as stream data processing have emerged. Stream data is real-timely and continuously generated. In stream data environments, a lot of queries are registered, and then, the arrived data item is evaluated by registered queries. Thus, to accelerate the query performance, diverse continuous query index schemes have been proposed for stream data processing systems. In this paper, we focus on the query index technique for stream data. In general, a stream query contains the range condition. Thus, by using range conditions, the queries can be indexed. In this paper, we propose an efficient query index scheme, called QUISIS, using a modified Interval Skip Lists to accelerate search time. QUISIS utilizes a locality where a value which will arrive in near future is similar to the current value. Through the experimental study, we show the efficiency of our proposed method.
Estimating Coverage of the Web Search Services Using Near-Uniform Sampling of Web Documents

Web documents with useful information are widely available on the internet and they are accessible with web search service. For this reason, web search services study better ways to collect more web documents, but have a difficulty figuring out the coverage of these web pages. This paper is intended to find ways to evaluate the current coverage assessment methods and suggest more effective coverage assessment technique that is, sampling internet web documents equally, monitoring how they are classified on web search services, in an attempt to assess both absolute and relative coverage of the web search engines. The paper also presents the comparison among Korean web search services using the suggested methods.the absolute and relative coverage was highest in Google followed by Naver and Empas. The result is expected to help estimating coverage of web search services.
An Evaluation of Software Quality Using Phase-based Defect Profile

A typical software development life cycle consists of a series of phases, each of which has some ability to insert and detect defects. To achieve desired quality, we should progress the defect removal with the all phases of the software development. The well-known model of phase-based defect profile is Gaffney model. This model assumes that the defect removal profile follows Rayleigh curve and uses the parameters as the phase index number. However, these is a problem that the location parameter cannot present the peak point of removed defects when you apply Gaffney model to the actual situation. Therefore, Gaffney model failed to represent the actual defect profile. This paper suggests two different models: One is modified Gaffney model that introduce the parameter of Putnam's SLIM model to replace of the location parameter, the other is the growth function model because the cumulative defect profile shows S-shaped. Suggested model is analyzed and verified by the defect profile sets that are obtained from 5 different software projects. We could see from the experiment, the suggested model performed better result than Gaffney model.
A Study on Software Fault Analysis and Management Method using Defect Tracking System

The software defects that are not found in the course of a project frequently appear during the conduct of the maintenance procedure after the complete development of the software. As the frequency of surfacing of defects during the maintenance procedure increases, the cost likewise increases, and the quality and customer reliability decreases. The defect rate will go down only if cause analysis and process improvement are constantly performed. This study embodies the defect tracking system (DTS) by considering the Pareto principle: that most defects are repetitions of defects that have previously occurred. Based on the records of previously occurring defects found during the conduct of a maintenance procedure, DTS tracks the causes of the software defects and provides the developer, operator, and maintenance engineer with the basic data for the improvement of the software concerned so that the defect will no longer be manifested or repeated. The basic function of DTS is to analyze the defect type, provide the measurement index for it, and aggregate the program defect type. Doing these will pave the way for the full correction of all the defects of a software as it will enable the defect correction team to check the measured defect type. When DTS was applied in the software configuration management system of the W company, around 65% of all its software defects were corrected.
XML Language for Generating J2ME MIDlet User Interfaces

Many XML-compliant UIDLs(User Interface Description Languages) have been developed to specify user interfaces. Although previous UIDLs are helpful to describe user interfaces of web and desktop applications, they are not available of developing UI of mobile applications. In this paper, in order to effectively specify user interfaces of MIDlet which is application model on J2ME(Java Platform, Micro Edition), we propose MIML(Midlet Interface Markup Language) and present transformation rules to generate source codes from MIML. Further, we enhance the usability of MIML through J2MERenderer which is a tool using presented rules. The proposed method can specify user interfaces of mobile applications and allow developers to keep productivity and consistency in development phase.

Many of today’s companies adopt Business Process Management to make their business processes efficient and at the same time pursue certain business values in order to make known that they are working for public interests and to enhance their images and competitiveness. On the other hand, to improve achievement of business values, not only the basic business activities but also the capability of measuring value achievement and ways to reflect the measuring results for process improvement should be built into their business processes. In this study, we propose a value achievement measuring framework that includes the design elements necessary for measuring value achievement and demonstrate its efficacy with an application example.
Mobile GUI Testing Tool Based-on Image Flow

In order to enhance the productivity of mobile and develop reliable software, the test of mobile application software should be required absolutely. The most important way to communicate to users has been used to GUI. But GUI test method in mobile has no the test automation system except manual test by checklist. In this paper we present a test method and tool by image flow to reduce the time required and finds out errors to GUI, by carrying out the study on automatic GUI testing tool based on image flow to GUI test of mobile application.
MDA(Model Driven Architecture) based Design for Multitasking of Heterogeneous Embedded System

The complicated embedded system for multi-tasking requires RTOS(real-time operating system). It uses the optimal OS and processor to each embedded system on the heterogeneous development environment. This paper is proposed to use UML profile of OS API and Processor Configuration, instead of cross-compiling for developing the heterogeneous embedded system. This reduces the development time and cost through generating the automatic source code with the profile information of each embedded system. We generate and port the code after modeling the two heterogeneous real time operating systems (brickOS and uC/OS-II) and the processors (Hitachi H8 and Intel PXA255) with our proposed profile of the heterogeneous embedded system.
Product-Line Architecture Development for Self-Adaptive Software

In the latest intelligent computing environments, the self-adaptive software, as new software paradigm, which modifies its own behavior in response to changes in its operating environment is needed. To develop the self-adaptive software, it is necessary to analyze and design the context of software as well as the structure and the behavior of software. We need more efforts for self-adaptive software development than for traditional software development because we need more activities and technologies like context modeling and adaptation to develop the self-adaptive software. In this paper, we present the product line architecture for self-adaptive software and templates of artifacts to improve the efficiency of development through a reuse methodology. The artifacts of the architecture support the systematic reuse activities of core assets by expressing the commonality and variability of product line.
Process Design and Case Study for Efficient Function Point Measurement Based on Object Oriented

Recently, development paradigm of information system is turning into object oriented and component based, and this methodology is leading the software industry. To acclimatize aptly to this trend, users demand the assessment of software expenses to change with the appropriate model of computing costs of the environment, and some people are actually studying the concept of Object Oriented Function Point and UCP method. Especially, Object Oriented Function Point Measurement Process has good points in overcoming the bound of LOC and the existing the Function Point Measurement Process because Object Oriented Function Point Measurement Process is applicable to the early stage of development project mainly with the used cases, and valid to the life long period as the each stage of software products develops, and always understandable to communicate with users by the UML mark rules. Accordingly, this research is to measure Functional Point at ROFP and AOFP in accordance with the development project of information system by the national defense CBD methodology procedures and UML Interrelation Analysis that are recently and widely used in the developmental environment of object oriented information system. Furthermore, this study suggests the measurement method to obtain Functional Point, and identifies service function and object/class function in the correlation analysis of use case and class based on the products and UML modeling via traditional FPA model and object oriented FPA model. Above all, this study is to demonstrate the improvement of traditional Function Point Measurement Process, IFPUG-CPM and software cost basis, and reveal Function Point Measurement Process, which is appropriate to the development of object oriented information system, and suggest the evaluation results of the compatibility through case studies.
A Study on Developing and Applying of Integrated Performance Evaluation Model for Public Information Projects

Recently, an evaluation for information system performance analysis an investment effect quantitatively and qualitatively. So various performance evaluation methods are applied to overcome a limitation which is based on traditional investment returns. However a performance evaluation in public service only derives that a result which is qualitatively evaluated about evaluation domain is yes or no, the performance evaluation does not improve in quality of information system. So in this paper we improve existing performance evaluation methods in public service and add a quality evaluation and quantitative evaluation in the methods. Therefore we propose an integrated evaluation model which guarantees objectivity and reliability of evaluation result and which improves an information system. We consider a project object of an Administration Information DB Construction Project which is promoted in information-oriented project and derive an evaluation result which is applied reflection ratio and weight in each evaluation domain to show a validity of the proposed model.
A Direction Computation and Media Retrieval Method of Moving Object using Weighted Vector Sum

This paper suggests a new retrieval method using weighted vector sum to resolve a problem of traditional location-based retrieval method, nearest neighbor (NN) query, and NN query using direction. The proposed method filters out data with the radius, and then the remained retrieval area is filtered by a direction information compounded of a user's moving direction, a pre-fixed interesting direction, and a pre-fixed retrieval angle. The moving direction is computed from a vector or a weighted vector sum of several vectors using a weight to adopt several cases. The retrieval angle can be set from traditional
to any degree you want. The retrieval data for this method can be a still and moving image recorded shooting location, and also several type of media like text, web, picture offering to customer with location of company or resort. The suggested method guarantees more accurate retrieval than traditional location-based retrieval methods because that the method selects data within the radius and then removes data of useless areas like passed areas or an area of different direction. Moreover, this method is more flexible and includes the direction based NN.
u-Healthcare Context Information System Using Mobile Proxy Based on Distributed Object Group Framework

This paper implemented the u-Healthcare Context Information System (HCIS) supporting ubiquitous healthcare by using location, health and titrating environment information collected from sensors/devices equipped in home for healthcare home service. The HCIS is based on the Distributed Object Group Framework (DOGF), a management model which can customize distributed resources, and manages various context information, applications and devices as a group in healthcare home environment, as one more logical units. Also, this system provides continuous healthcare multimedia service considering a resident's location using Mobile Proxy, and the healthcare context information through Context Provider to a resident in home. For verifying execution of our system, we implemented the seamless multimedia service based on resident's location and the prescription/advice and schedule notification/alarm service as healthcare applications in home. And we showed the executing results of healthcare home service by using service device existed in the residential space on which the resident is located according to the healthcare scenario.
A Contents Recommendation Scheme Based on Collaborative Filtering Using Consumer's Affection and Consumption Type

Collaborative filtering is a popular technique used for the recommendation system, but its performance, especially the accuracy of recommendation, depends on how to define the reference group. This paper proposes a new contents recommendation scheme based on collaborative filtering technique whose reference groups are created by consumer's affection and consumption type in order to improve the accuracy of recommendation. In this paper, joy, sadness, anger, happiness, and relax are considered as the consumer's affection. And, low-utility / low-pleasure, low-utility / high-pleasure, high-utility / low-pleasure, and high-utility / high-pleasure are considered as the consumer's shopping types. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the accuracy of recommendation compared to the recommendation scheme considering neither consumer's affection nor consumption type.
On Development of an Automatic Tool for Extracting Association Rules of a user query using Formal Concept Analysis

Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a widely used methodology for data analysis, which extracts concepts and builds a concept hierarchy from given data. A concept consists of objects and attributes shared by those objects, and a concept hierarchy includes information on super-sub relations among the concepts. In this paper, we propose a method for extracting Implication and Association rules from a concept hierarchy given a query by a user. The method also describes a way for displaying the extracted rules. Based on this method, we implemented an automatic tool, QAG-Wizard. Because the QAG-Wizard not only elicits relation information for the given query, but also displays it in structured form intuitively, we expect that it can be used in the fields of data analysis, data mining and information retrieval for various purposes.
