The Design of XMDR Data Hub for Efficient Business Process Operation

Recently, enterprise systems require the necessity of integration for data sharing and cooperation. As a methodology for integration, Service-Oriented Architecture for service integration and Master Data for integration of data, which is used for service, were appeared. This paper suggests a method that operates BP(Business Process) efficiently. We make XMDR(eXtended Meta Data Registry) as knowledge-repository to support the BP and construct data hubs to operate it. XMDR manages MDM(Master Data Management) to integrate the data, resolves heterogeneity between the data and provides relationship to the business efficiently. This is composed of MDR(Meta Data Registry), ontology and BR(Business Relations). MDR describes relationship between meta data to solve structured heterogeneity. Ontology describes semantic heterogeneity and relationship between data. BR describes relationship between tasks. XMDR data hub supports the management of master data and interaction of different process effectively.
AS B-tree: A study on the enhancement of the insertion performance of B-tree on SSD

Recently flash memory has been being utilized as a main storage device in mobile devices, and flashSSDs are getting popularity as a major storage device in laptop and desktop computers, and even in enterprise-level server machines. Unlike HDDs, on flash memory, the overwrite operation is not able to be performed unless it is preceded by the erase operation to the same block. To address this, FTL(Flash memory Translation Layer) is employed on flash memory. Even though the modified data block is overwritten to the same logical address, FTL writes the updated data block to the different physical address from the previous one, mapping the logical address to the new physical address. This enables flash memory to avoid the high block-erase cost. A flashSSD has an array of NAND flash memory packages so it can access one or more flash memory packages in parallel at once. To take advantage of the internal parallelism of flashSSDs, it is beneficial for DBMSs to request I/O operations on sequential logical addresses. However, the B-tree structure, which is a representative index scheme of current relational DBMSs, produces excessive I/O operations in random order when its node structures are updated. Therefore, the original b-tree is not favorable to SSD. In this paper, we propose AS(Always Sequential) B-tree that writes the updated node contiguously to the previously written node in the logical address for every update operation. In the experiments, AS B-tree enhanced 21% of B-tree's insertion performance.
An Extended Frequent Pattern Tree for Hiding Sensitive Frequent Itemsets

Recently, data sharing between enterprises or organizations is required matter for task cooperation. In this process, when the enterprise opens its database to the affiliates, it can be occurred to problem leaked sensitive information. To resolve this problem it is needed to hide sensitive information from the database. Previous research hiding sensitive information applied different heuristic algorithms to maintain quality of the database. But there have been few studies analyzing the effects on the items modified during the hiding process and trying to minimize the hided items. This paper suggests eFP-Tree(Extended Frequent Pattern Tree) based FP-Tree(Frequent Pattern Tree) to hide sensitive frequent itemsets. Node formation of eFP-Tree uses border to minimize impacts of non sensitive frequent itemsets in hiding process, by organizing all transaction, sensitive and border information differently to before. As a result to apply eFP-Tree to the example transaction database, the lost items were less than 10%, proving it is more effective than the existing algorithm and maintain the quality of database to the optimal.
Performance improvement on mobile devices using MVC+Prefetch Controller Pattern

Current mobile devices have surpassed its boundaries as a more communication tool to a smart device which provides additional features. These features have supported the smart life of its users, but have reached its limit from low-performance processors and short-battery time. These issues can be resolved b implementing higher performing hardware, but they come with a burden of high cost. This paper introduces a new way of managing computing resources in a mobile device by enhancing the quality of human-computer interaction. The real-speed felt by users are mainly influenced by the time it takes form a user's input to the device to display the completed result on the screen. Since the size of the screen for mobile devices are small, if the processor only fetch data to be used for displaying on screen, the time can be significantly reduced. MVC+Prefetch Controller pattern accomplished this goal by using the minimum amount of data from DB to fetch display and still manages to support high-speed data transfer to achieve seamless display. This idea has been realized by practice using Samsung mobile phone S8500, which demonstrated the superior performance on user's perspective.
A Study on the Effect of Healthcare-based IPTV Quality on Intention to Use

As the Korean Ministry for Health and Welfare announced the likelihood to revise the legislative limit for healthcare telemedicine, u-Healthcare service through IPTV emerged among these business models. However, in spite of many advantages such as treatment improvement, service quality enhancement, and treatment usefulness, most medical trials grafted with IT have not accepted yet. This points out not only that law and institutional environment has not prepared, but also that policy maker neglect the preparation of the strategies through the study on user acceptance. The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship for IPTV quality based Healthcare on satisfaction and intention to use. The results identify that IPTV technology quality for its convenience, contents quality for its completeness, and the quality for healthcare services give significant effect to satisfaction. In addition the study indicates that overall qualities of IPTV technology, contents, and healthcare service, significantly impact on satisfaction respectively and that the satisfaction may lead to the intention to use of this service.
Study on Improving Energy-Efficiency of Set-top Box

Set-top Box which receives broadcasting signal and delivers it to display device such as TV usually doesn't have low-power mode, standby power mode. On the other side, most consumer electronics support standby power mode. The main reasons come from technical barriers and operational stability. Set-top box normally consumes 80~90% power of active mode even though turning off. This is much higher compared to other consumer electronics which consume less than 1W in standby power mode. However, most developed countries including Korea are enforcing the regulations which enhance energy efficiency of set-top box. This paper describes design and development of low-power set-top box. Key technologies are SoC supporting low-power mode, system hardware and software operating in separated power mode, and middleware managing the power with broadcasting system. Finally, we show energy saving expectation through development and proliferation.
Development of Efficient User Navigation Interface for Client-side Mashups

Client based web mashups have become one of the most important architecture in web application development. Although there are well known methods to generate presentation view codes for web services, navigations between views and service requests are still developed manually in most web mashups. In this paper, we propose the concept of deterministic data binding from output data to input parameters of another method. Using binding relations, we can model navigation menus for service method requests. For a given set of data mappings between services, we investigate context dependent binding conditions and discuss the generation of views and navigation menus. The proposed approach provides UI for users to navigate services of client mashup page using simple and convenient interface even when the number of services and the size of the mashup page grows. In order to show the usability of the proposed approach, we present a historic tourism service.
