An Analysis of Preference for Korean Pop Music By Applying Acoustic Signal Analysis Techniques

Recently K-Pop gained worldwide sensational popularity, no longer limited to the domestic pop music scene. One of the main causes can be that K-Pop mostly are "Hook Song" which has the "hook effect": a certain melody or/and rhythm is repeated up to 70 times in one song so that it hooks the ear of the listener. Also, visual effects by K-Pop dance group are supposed to contribute to gaining the popularity. In this paper, we propose a method which traces the changes of preference for Korean pop music according to the passing of time and investigates the causes using acoustic signal analysis. For this, experiments in acoustic signal analysis are performed on Korean pop music of from popular female singers in 1960s to those as of this date. Experimental results by applying acoustic signal processing techniques show that the periods discrimination is possible based on scientific evidences. Also, quantitative, objective and numerical data based on acoustic signal processing techniques are extracted compared with the pre-existing methods such as subjective and statistical data.
A Device-Independent and Cost-Effective Forging Work-in-Process Control System

This paper proposes a new forging work-in-process control system that guarantees independency of a specific device and provides cost-effectiveness. Until now, much research has been studied on improving the process productivity through efficient work-in-process or inventory controls. Especially, incorporating various IT technologies such as barcode, RFID, and image recognition has been done. However, those approaches cause many problems due to the characteristics of the forging work-in-process control environment. To overcome the limitations of the existing approaches, this paper proposes a novel forging work-in-process control system. The proposed system in this paper identifies and precisely manages positions of objects by using GPS information of smart mobile devices. Therefore, identification tags as well as specific devices for reading the tags do not been required. It resolves the problems of the previous approaches and enhances the productivity of the overall forging work-in-process control process.
Drupal-based Map Application Generator(MapAppGen): an Application Generation Example for Famous Restaurants

The demand for map applications in both Web and mobile environments has been rapidly increased with the population of Web and smart phone usage. Web-based map applications are mostly developed on such environments as ArcGIS and MapServer and mobile map applications are developed on such API levels as Google Maps and Yahoo Maps. But many parts of map applications are still constructed by coding because these environments don't support high level of automation. Our MapAppGen that we have designed and implemented enhances the Web-based map application productivity by generating the map related modules that can be applied to the Drupal that is one of popular content management systems(CMS's). Comparing the applications that are constructed by the Drupal-supported GMap or NodeMap, the applications that are constructed by MapAppGen provide information on not only the interested geographical feature but also its related geographical features. MapAppGen uses Google Maps API and Drupal is a module-based system that supports the creation, composition and management of contents. We are now working on automatic generation of mobile map applications with MapAppGen.
Localization using Neural Networks and Push-Pull Estimation based on RSS from AP to Mobile Device

Although the development of Global Positioning System (GPS) are more and more mature, its accuracy is just acceptable for outdoor positioning, not positioning for the indoor of building and the underpass. For the positioning application area for the indoor of building and the underpass, GPS even cannot achieve that accuracy because of the construction materials while the requirement for accurate positioning in the indoor of building and the underpass, because a space, a person is necessary, may be very small space with several square meters in the indoor of building and the underpass. The Received Signal Strength (RSS) based localization is becoming a good choice especially for the indoor of building and the underpass scenarios where the WiFi signals of IEEE 802.11, Wireless LAN, are available in almost every indoor of building and the underpass. The fundamental requirement of such localization system is to estimate location from Access Point (AP) to mobile device using RSS at a specific location. The Multi-path fading effects in this process make RSS to fluctuate unpredictably, causing uncertainty in localization. To deal with this problem, the combination for the method of Neural Networks and Push-Pull Estimation is applied so that the carried along the devices can learn and make the decision of position using mobile device where it is in the indoor of building and the underpass.
Intelligent Library Management System using RFID and USN

It's not easy for medium or large sized libraries to effectively manage their vast array of books and media data. Recently, in place of magnetic stripes and barcodes, RFID technology has been applied on a small scale to simple book management and theft-prevention initiatives. The development of RFID and USN applied systems and technology has led to RFID and USN being used in a diverse range of industrial fields, including book management systems in libraries. Using the aforementioned technology, the intelligent book management system suggested in this thesis can provide a more practical, effective, content-rich and convenient book management system.
A Study on Risk Classification System in Supply Chain

The aim of this study is to present the importance of Risk Management and Risk Classification System in Supply Chain to cope with the rapidly changing distribution environment flexibly through the cooperation between a shipper and a distribution company. First of all, we considered existing studies related to the risks of Supply Chain Risk and analyzed 47 different risk factors by 18 kinds of risk causing factors. Second, we collected opinions of corporation specialist group based on the analyzed risk factors and then classified the risk factors into three categories and ten sub-categories. Third, we conducted a survey targeting shipping companies and distribution companies about classified risk and then verified the validity of Supply Chain Risk Classification using verification techniques such as Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Concentration Validity and Distinction Validity. Finally, we suggest some implications based on the verification results.
