Design and Implementation of XML Based Relational Database Metadata Repository

Metadata is data about data that is used to mange data itself. As applications based on DBMS are increased, it is suggested that metadata model and metadata interchange model to manage metadata in DBMS. but metadata which is in the form of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) document is generally stored into RDBMS. Therefore In this paper, as for the method to store metadata of RDBMS into OODBMS, we design metadata model, metadata interchange model and implement new repository system. The metadata of RDBMS is translated into in the form of XML Document and integrated into XML Data Server on OODBMS, eXcelon and executes retrieval metadata information about RDBMS by XQL(XML Query Language). So It is possible to searchm edit a metadata. The metadata of XML documents stored in eXcelon is easily made to be printed in web browser by applying a XSL (extensible StyleSheets Language). So we can have a detail information about property of metadata in DBMS.
Transaction Management Using Update Protocol in Fully Replicated Databases

We propose a new concurrency control algorithm for enhancing the degree of parallelism of the transactions in fully replicated databases designed to improve the availability and the reliability. The update transactions can be logically decomposed of a read-only transaction and a write-only transaction. In our algorithm, a set of read operations of an update transaction is treated as a read-only transaction and the read-only transaction reads data items in the site to which it is submitted. And a set of write operations of the update transaction is treated as a write-only transaction and it is submitted to all corresponding sites after the update transaction has been completed. By using the proposed update protocol, all write-only transactions can execute at all sites atomically. The proposed algorithm can have transactions execute concurrently at the site to which they are submitted and, after the completion of each transaction, the update protocol is performed for updating their data items and checking their serializability. Therefore, the degree of parallelism of the transactions can be improved. Especially, if the probability of conflict among transactions is low, we can expect the higher degree of their parallelism.
A Condition Processing System of Active Rules Using Analyzing Condition Predicates

The active database system introduces the active rules detecting specified state. As the condition evaluation of the active rules is performed every time an event occurs, the performance of the system has a great influence, depending on the conditions processing method. In this paper, we propose the conditions processing system with the preprocessor which determines the delta tree structure, constructs the classification tree, and generates the aggregate function table. Due to the characteristics of the active database through which the active rules can be comprehended beforehand, the preprocessor can be introduced. In this paper, the delta tree which can effectively process the join, selection operations, and the aggregate function is suggested, and it can enhance the condition evaluation performance. And we propose the classification tree which effectively processes the join operation and the aggregate function table processing the aggregate function which demands high cost. In this paper, the conditions processing system can be expected to enhance the performance of conditions processing in the active rules as the number of conditions comparison decreases because of the structure which is made in the preprocessor.
A Signature-based Video Indexing Scheme using Spatio-Temporal Modeling for Content-based and Concept-based Retrieval on Moving Objects

In this paper, we propose a new spatio-temporal representation scheme which can model moving objets trajectories effectively in video data and a new signature-based access method for moving objects trajectories which can support efficient retrieval on user query based on moving objects trajectories. The proposed spatio-temporal representation scheme supports content-based retrieval based on moving objects trajectories and concept-based retrieval based on concepts(semantics) which are acquired through the location information of moving objects trajectories. Also, compared with the sequential search, our signature-based access method can improve retrieval performance by reducing a large number of disk accesses because it access disk using only retrieved candidate signatures after it first scans all signatures and performs filtering before accessing the data file. Finally, we show the experimental results that proposed scheme is superior to the Li and Shan`s scheme in terns of both retrieval effectiveness and efficiency.
Design of a spatiotemporal object model for 2D geographic objects

Most of works have been performed on representation of spatiotemporal objects from various points of view. Most of them represent spatiotemporal objects using approaches from GIS, temporal databases, object-oriented databases or data type. Spatiotemporal objects can be classified as objects whose position and shape changes discretely over time, objects whose position changes continuously and objects whose shape changes continuously as well as position. Previous works on spatiotemporal model have focused on only one of them. In this paper, we propose a spatiotemporal model that can represent three types of objects in Euclidean plan. For this purpose, we represent both discrete and continuous moving objects by defining temporal model extended from valid time and by defining relationship between two consecutive versions of objects. The proposed spatiotemporal object model is based on open GIS specification so that it has compatibility with existing spatial data model.
A Study on Data Association-Rules Mining of Content-Based Multimedia

Few studies have been systematically pursued on a multimedia data mining in despite of the overwhelming amounts of multimedia data by the development of computer capacity, storage technology and Internet. Based on the preliminary image processing and content-based image retrieval technology, this paper presents the methods for discovering association rules from recurrent items with spatial relationships in huge data repositories. Furthermore, multimedia mining algorithm is proposed to find implicit association rules among objects of which content-based descriptors such as color, texture, shape and etc. are recurrent and of which descriptors have spatial relationships. The algorithm with recurrent items in images shows high efficiency to find set of frequent items as compared to the Apriori algorithm. The multimedia association-rules algorithm is specially effective when the collection of images is homogeneous and it can be applied to many multimedia-related application fields.
Extension of UML to Represent Components Interface Focusing on Interaction

This paper focuses components interactions which is important factor in designing software components. We classified several types of interaction between components and suggested appropriate graphical notation to extend UML and design process with extended method. Suggested notation and process was verified by practical experiment which is performed in travel agent component application. Representing interaction between components is not same to representing association between classes. UML in current version needs to be extended for representing this kind of components interaction. This research covers UML extension for components interaction and experiment for showing effectiveness.
Improving Estimation Ability of Software Development Effort Using Principle Component Analysis

Putnam develops SLIM (Software LIfecycle Management) model based upon the assumption that the manpower utilization during software project development is followed by a Rayleigh distribution. To obtain the manpower distribution, we have to be estimate the total development effort and difficulty ratio parameter. We need a way to accurately estimate these parameters early in the requirements and specification phase before investment decisions have to be made. Statistical tests show that system attributes are highly correlation (redundant) so that Putnam discards one and get a parameter estimator from the other attributes. But, different statistical method has different system attributes and presents different performance. To select the principle system attributes, this paper uses the principle component analysis (PCA) instead of Putnam`s method. The PCA`s results improve a 9.85 percent performance more than the Putnam`s result. Also, this model seems to be simple and easily realize.
A Requirements Management Process to improve the Requirements Management of Development Methodologies

More than 50% of defects and errors in the software development projects are related to the requirements. But the development methodologies can not provide enough supports to the requirements management and changes. In the real world, the requirements keep changing as the requirements at the early development phase are usually incomplete, the developer′s understanding of the problem will be constantly changed during the software process, and new requirements may emerge with the organizational and environmental changes. In this paper, a requirements management process that can be integrated into the development methodologies is proposed to extend the requirements management over the whole development life-cycle and to support the requirements changes at the design/implementation/test phases. To evaluate the proposed process, it was compared to the existing requirements managements processes and models, and examined through a integration test with a widely used development methodology "MaRMI" to show the expected improvements at each development phase.
Study about Component Identification Method Based On RUP

We need a component-based system to reflect software changes in user`s requirements, to implement a system at a rapid speed as well as to efficiently manage the system in a maintenance phase and to easily change software. Moreover, the component-based system has a merit in development cost. However, existing component development methodology for implement of component-based system is inefficient in object identification for component identification. Moreover, the existing component development methodology also fails to provide any method to identify system component. It merely provides procedures and methods to identify business component focused on a whole system domain. In addition, it has another problem that it considerably relies on developer`s experiences and intuitions for component identification. Therefore, according to this paper, RUP (Rational Unified Process) is applied from a requirement analysis phase to an object identification phase in order to improve the inefficiency of object identification. In addition, this paper procedures and methods for system component identification, and identifies business components based on the identified system component, rather than on the whole system domain. This paper also provides and applies cohesion metric and coupling metric so as to overcome the problem that component identification depends on developer`s intuitions and experiences. Accordingly, the component identification method proposed in this paper, may identify components more effectively based on facility of object identification, functional reusability of components, traceability, and independence of components.
A Study on RUP based Component Quality Evaluation

In component-Based Software Development, the quality of indivisual component is play an important role in quality decision of the whole software. So we need the practical strategy for component testing. In general, component testing can divide focus into producer position and consumer position. In this paper, because the consumer position uses output of the producer position, testing domain is deployed in the producer position. We propose RUP based five step testing processes for component quality evaluation and implements a case study of EJB environment for appling our testing process. This paper shows that proposed five step processes are applicable to component quality evaluation.
Web System Development Process based on Domain Features : Content centric Domain and Data centric Domain

As the technical aspect of the web system development is, unlike the existing main frame or client/server environment, greatly influenced by the dynamic and variable factors and carried out in a comparatively short period, practical and efficient process to which the developer may adapt with ease is very much required for the web system development. However, while the technological substitute, language and architecture composition have been much discussed, in connection with web system development growing rapidly, standardized development process and its deliverables have been rarely discussed. This thesis analyzes problems of the existing web system development processes and as the substitutes for them, proposes web system development process based on the domain features derived from the concepts of iteration and increment. For the classification of domains, five domains in total are set by interlocking web system factors and web site types and the workflows for two domains applied to projects are incorporated focused on work content and deliverables. The proposed process applies to the development of intranet system and is compared with the existing web development processes by the measure classified into components and elements.
Deisgn and Implementation of RTK-GPS Error Correction Signal Transmission System for Long-Distance using the TCP/IP

GPS is one of today`s most widely used surveying techniques. But, users can`t acquire an enough accuracy in applications of the navigation or geodesy by the GPS positioning technique because of the effects of the ionosphere and troposphere and US DoD`s systematic errors. The solution of these restrictions is the DGPS technique that is to eliminate the common errors and can achieve a high accuracy. Although of sufficient density for good DGPS, accuracy of positioning is just not dense enough to provide complete coverage for real-time positioning, because distances between base and rover is short. In this paper, we designed and implemened a RTK-GPS error correction signal transmission system for long-distance using the TCP/IP, which consist of TCP, UDP and IP, which allows a user to increase the distance at which the rover receiver is located from the base, due to radio modem.
Developing A Tool for Collaborative Multimedia Systems Design

Multimedia systems design generally requires a collaborative effort from a group of designers with a variety of backgrounds and tasks, such as content experts, instructional designers, media specialists, users, and so forth. The fact that the designers have totally different backgrounds and tasks may hinder their collaboration. This research develops a collaborative design tool for multimedia systems design, called the Designer`s Cafe, with which multimedia designers can share their design knowledge on the Web freely. Designer`s Cafe consists of three intelligent agents that are designed for supporting collaboration activities of multimedia designers. The intelligent agents are implemented by using JAVA SCRIPT and COLD FUSION. By using the tool, designers create, revise, and share their knowledge/ideas in very structured ways. The structured design process might enhance the collaboration activities of designers while designing a multimedia system within a virtual working space.
The Gateway for Internet Server Implementation using Dynamic IP Address

Recently most of the home and small-size company use ADSL(Asymmetric Digital subscriber Line) or Cable Modem for using Internet Services. The number of Internet IP Address in current Internet IP Address System(IPv4) that is consisted of 4byte is almost empty, so generally the IP Address assigned dynamically is used. This way is just OK in general uses, but not OK in Internet Servers operation. This paper designed the gateway(Gate-D) system which is enable any system that get IP Address assigned dynamically to serve Internet Server Services(Telnet, FTP, HTTP, Mail, etc …), and made sure the worth by using Telnet Server.
The Design and Implementation of Library for RTOS Q+

This paper describes the design and implementation of library for real-time operating system Q+, that was developed for the internet appliance. The library in the real-time operating system should be defined according to the standard interface and support the functions that are adequate to the real-time application. To ensure the compatibility between application programs, the Q+ library follows industrial and international standards, such as POSIX.1, ISO 7942 GKS. And, to support the Q+ application, library provides C standard functions, graphic/window functions, network functions, security support functions, file system functions. The Q+ library was implemented using the Q+ kernel, Digital TV set-top box, and KBUG debugging tool.
A ASIC design of the Improved PN Code Acquisition System for DS/CDMA

The existing method in PN code acquisition process have a problem in PN code acquisition time because PN code searching is accomplished in one epoch. In this paper, we propose algorithm that can reduce PN code acquisition time because PN code searching is accomplished in each other two epoches. The designed ASIC chip using proposed algorithm confirmed that the area (the number of gates) increase more than existing method in PN code acquisition, but the performance of PN code acquisition is better than existing method.

Recently, some of people are keep in research and development of the further more efficient and convenient auction systems using intelligent software agents in electronic commerce. The purpose of this thesis is that a simple auction system has web bulletin boards, is aided by intelligent agent, and generates pertinent auction duration time and starting price for auction goods of auctioneer into a auction system, then the auctioneer gets the highest margin. The seller who want to sell goods, is using internet sends mail that has information for goods to agent of internet auction system. The agent undertake filtering process for already learned information about similar goods. And it calculate duration time and start price from stored bidding history database. In this thesis we propose a mailing agent system pushing information in internet auction that enables to aid decision for auctioneer about the starting time and price which delivers the highest margin.
