Efficient Evaluation of Path Expressions Using Connectivity of Nodes

Recently, there has been a lot of research on graph-type data because it can model seamless the application domains such as GIS, network, WWW, multimedia presentations etc., and domain in which the data sequence is important. In this paper, an efficient code system, called node code system, is proposed to evaluate paths of DAG in a multimedia presentation graph. The node code system assigns a unique binary string to each node of a graph. The comparison of node codes of two nodes tells the connectivity between the nodes without actual traversal of a graph. The method using the property of the node code system allows us to construct the paths between two nodes more efficiently than the method using conventional graph traversals. The algorithms to construct paths using the node code system are provided.
Design and Implementation of an HTML Pages Modification Detector for Meta-search Engines

HTML pages in the web change at any time. It could cause to decrease the functionality of meta-search engines which provide users with integrated results of search engines. To solve this problem, we propose an HTML pages modification detector. It utilities information of element positions in HTML pages and the modified Jaak Vilo algorithm. The HTML page modification detector uses patterns that represent the structure of HTML expressions occurring repeatedly in HTML pages. An experiment is carried out to verify the correctness of the modification detector.
Automatically Converting HTML Documents with Similar Pattern into XML Documents

Recently, WWW(World Wide Web) has become a source of a large amount of information, and is now recognized not only as an information-sharing tool, but also as an information repository. Currently, the majority of documents on the web were created using HTML(Hypertext Markup Language). Although HTML is simple and easy to learn, its inherent lack of describing document structure makes it difficult to retrieve information effectively. One possible solution would be to convert such HTML documents into XML (extensible Markup Language) documents. This is a standard markup language for exchanging data on the web. It can describe a document structure freely by defining its own DTD (Document Type Definition). This makes it possible to integrate, store, and retrieve data on the web efficiently In this paper, we will propose a converter that automatically converts HTML documents with similar pattern into XML documents by analyzing the document structure and recognizing its path information.
Temporal Data Mining Framework

Temporal data mining, the incorporation of temporal semantics to existing data mining techniques, refers to a set of techniques for discovering implicit and useful temporal knowledge from large quantities of temporal data. Temporal knowledge, expressible in the form of rules, is knowledge with temporal semantics and relationships, such as cyclic pattern, calendric pattern, trends, etc. There are many examples of temporal data, including patient histories, purchaser histories, and web log that it can discover useful temporal knowledge from. Many studies on data mining have been pursued and some of them have involved issues of temporal data mining for discovering temporal knowledge from temporal data, such as sequential pattern, similar time sequence, cyclic and temporal association rules, etc. However, all of the works treated data in database at best as data series in chronological order and did not consider temporal semantics and temporal relationships containing data. In order to solve this problem, we propose a theoretical framework for temporal data mining. This paper surveys the work to date and explores the issues involved in temporal data mining. We then define a model for temporal data mining and suggest SQL-like mining language with ability to express the task of temporal mining and show architecture of temporal mining system.
A Schema Extraction Method using Elements Information in XML Documents

XML documents, which are becoming new standard for expressing and exchanging data in the Internet, don't have defined schema. It is not adequate to directly apply XML documents to the existing SQL or OQL. Research on how to extract Schema for XML documents and query language is going on actively. For users' query, the results could be too tony or too less. It Is important to give the users adequate results. This paper suggests the way to extract many levelized schema according to the frequency of element occurrence in XML documents. The Schema can be reduced or extended to correspond to the users' query more flexibly.
The Bayesian Inference for Software Reliability Models Based on NHPP

Software reliability growth models are used in testing stages of software development to model the error content and time intervals between software failures. This paper presents a stochastic model for the software failure phenomenon based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process(NHPP) and performs Bayesian inference using prior information. The failure process is analyzed to develop a suitable mean value function for the NHPP ; expressions are given for several performance measure. Actual software failure data are compared with several model on the constant reflecting the quality of testing. The performance measures and parametric inferences of the suggested models using Rayleigh distribution and Laplace distribution are discussed. The results of the suggested models are applied to real software failure data and compared with Goel model. Tools of parameter point inference and 95% credible intereval was used method of Gibbs sampling. In this paper, model selection using the sum of the squared errors was employed. The numerical example by NTDS data was illustrated.
Construction of Data Book for Understanding Software Components

Component technology was proposed and applied to software development to overcome software crisis. Software component is a black box like an integrated circuit in hardware but it can not be utilized without good support specially for helping users understand efficiently. This paper shows that data book format for understanding hardware component can be well applied to representing software component. We selected an approach to understand component by matching the contents of data book with UML and API model technique. Besides, we added the architecture part and the interface which are the most important property of software component to the data book for software components. In order to verify effectiveness of components data book we extended batch descriptor in EJB and performed an experiment providing data book to programmers with components.
A Study on the Building Component Framework Development adapting Software Architecture

The reuse by using framework is proposed to improve productivity. It is a set of usable and expandable classes and their connectivity. But frameworks are described with programming languages, it is hard for developers to learn the collaborative patterns of a framework by reading it. Patterns are one approach to improving the documentation. But this should be redesigned to expand and redefine the framework. The necessity of the formal description of architecture information is being proposed to relate to programming language. This paper support the following points. First of all, it has been proposed the description of the needed elements when developing a framework using ADL. Secondly, the current development process has been refined to be suitable for developing the domain framework. Thirdly, it has been proposed the development of a application using a framework implemented by an architecture information described with ADL. Overalls, the main contents of this research is defining the ideas of a description and development of an architecture framework using ADL.
Component Retrieval using Extended Software Component Descriptor

Components are stored in a component repository for later reuse. Effective search and retrieval of desired components in a component repository is a very important issue. It usually takes a lot of time and efforts to gather information about a component, and its availability is essential to implement a repository. Software Component Descriptor proposed in CORBA 3 contains information about a component using an XML vocabulary. In this paper we extend Software Component Descriptor to be useful for the search of a component repository. We use a facet scheme as a search method of a component repository. And our new retrieval method supports queries connected with logical operators such as AND, OR, NOT, which were not supported with existing facet retrieval methods. Also we reduce the search complexity considerably.
An Integrated Information Object Management for Distributed Software Development

For effective distributed software development, integrated information object management functions that manage the structures and relationships among information objects are most required. Presented in this paper is a managerial framework comprised of BOC (Bill Of Class) and part dictionary scheme for integrated information object management in distributed software development processes. Based on the proposed BOC and part dictionary scheme, an integrated information object management system is designed and implemented. As a result of this implementation work, the usefulness and benefit of proposed framework are also shown.
An Empirical Study on Quality Evaluation & Improvement of Component Development Documents

Recently, many IT organizations develop software system with reusable component. Effective reusing of components increases software development productivity and quality. And, development of high quality component documents decrease maintenance problems, which are issues in component-based software development. In this paper, we propose a quality evaluation model of component development documents by empirical research. It consists of component quality reference model (CQRM) and quality evaluation model (CQEM). CQRM contains quality guidelines for component developers. CQEM contains evaluation guidelines for component consumers and distributors. We performed case study to verify this paper. Also, we presented quality improvement methods and improvement effects of component development documents. The quality evaluation model of component development documents proposed in this paper leads component development documents with high quality, and provides a rational quality evaluation model.
A Study of Cyclomatic Complexity for Web Application

Web applications haute different structural characteristics from conventional applications. A web application typically consists of server-side script elements which run on web sowers, client-side script elements which run on the client web-browser, link elements that the user clicks, and event elements that connect user-triggered request to the client script elements. These four elements are combined to form a web application. In such environments, direct application of conventional methods for measuring application complexity may not be possible, because they are primarily designed to measure complexity of modules and classes. In this paper, therefore, we propose metrics of Cyclomatic Complexity for Web Application (CCWA). We developed a tool to measure such metrics and applied it to the real-world examples. We found that the proposed CCWA metrics can be used for measuring complexity of highly complex web applications, which is not possible with conventional module and class based measurement techniques.
Design and Implementation of Web-Based Dictionary of Computing for Efficient Search Interface

In this paper, we designed and implemented a web-based dictionary of computing which keeps the data up-to-date. This dictionary shows the English information based on the FOLDOC (Free On-Line Dictionary Of Computing) dictionary file at the beginning of searching, and then one or more users can translate the information into Korean. This function is the new one only this dictionary has. Also, we can easily find any words we want to took up, even if we don't know the spelling completely, because the dictionary has various searching interfaces (searching for the words starting with inputted characters, searching for the words including inputted characters in the description, etc.) using a SQL Server DBMS and SQL. The performance test for CPU load factor shows that the server can support at least 1780 users at the same time.
A Case Study on the Information Systems Audit of a Bank

Importance of Information Systems in banking industry is higher than that of other industries. This study, based on a case study of a bank, analyzes the current status of information systems (IS) audit and proposes future directions in the area of IS control and audit. Major problems identified in the study include deficiency of IS and audit process, and inability of audit function to improve IS process. In addition, deficiency of staffing level and investment in R&D, and lack of competency and independence of audit staff are identified. In order to solve the problems, the following directions were proposed proper division of functions among audit related departments, utilization of outside audit function, and adoption of CSA, CAAT, career path program, risk-based audit approach. The results of the studs will provide valuable implications to banks and companies in other industries. Also the research framework employed in the study can be utilized in the future research in IS control and audit.
The Design and Implementation of Web Agents for vCard Service in Mobile Enviromnent

vCard that is the electronic business card automates the exchange of personal information typically found on a traditional business card. vCard information contains not only simple text, but also graphics and multimedia data like pictures, company logos, Web addresses, and so on. This paper describes the design and implementation of Web-based vCard agent system for exchanging vCard, an electronic business card and searching another user's vCard in mobile phone environment. In today's business environment, such as that this information is typically exchanged on business cards. Our web agent system in this paper connect web server which provide vCard service and search, edit vCard information displayed by web browser of mobile phone and exchange vCard with another user through internet. Considering characteristics of wireless devices that have limited storage space, It also saves constructed XML documents that include user's informations in a web server and solves the security problem by exchanging not personal data or XML but encrypted directory name where XML document exits as exchanging vcard.
Mathematics Equation Editing and Presentation System based on MathML

In this paper, we present an equation edition system, which is designed and implemented according to the W3C MathML standard. The system can be used to edit equations for the various web-oriented applications. Various user-friendly interfaces are provided for the easy and efficient edition of equations. The edited equations can be viewed immediately with the representation modules. To improve the processing speed of equations, we upgraded functions of the conventional XML parser. The presented system will contribute to the extensive usage of equations on the web and efficient processing of XML documents with equations.
The Clearinghouse Model Supporting Multiple DRMs

The DRM system has a clearinghouse module which is in the Important position in content delivery mechanism. Currently, the most of DRM systems in the market does not support compatibility functions with other DRM systems. The shopping malls must consider the multiple clearinghouses services if they have many contents using diverse DRMs. In this paper, we are modelling a clearinghouse module which can support several DRM systems. As a first step, this model supports Microsoft WMT Adobe ACS, and our own DRM system.
Design and Implementation of H.323 Gatekeeper based on Direct Model for Multimedia Conference Service

A various multimedia application services should be developed with techniques of high speed networks and computer. Among these, video-conference system over Internet is useful and important, and the standardization for it should be showed in ITU-T H.323. H.323 standardization consists of four components such as Terminal, MCU(Multipoint Control Unit), Gatekeeper, and Gateway. Among these, the functions of Gatekeeper are as follows, firstly the address translation service to translate the alias address into the IP address, secondary conference admission control service to control of conference start and termination, thirdly bandwidth management service for H.323 terminals. In this paper, we implemented the Gatekeeper for an efficient management of video-conference components in Internet environment, and will introduce our system. As the experimental results with CUSeeMe and Netmeeting which are well-known H.323 terminal, it is known that our gatekeeper should be satisfied with H.323 standardization.
Design and Implementation of a Web-Based Education-Evaluation System for Setting and Analyzing Questions

WBI (Web-Based Instruction), a web-based tool for teaching the students at a long distance, makes possible to Interact between learners and instructors, provides a wide variety of learning materials, has an advantage of overcoming spatial constraints. In this paper, as a model of using the web for education, a web-based education-evaluation system has been designed and implemented. Web-based education-evaluation system has to be equipped with both of the online setting question mode and the upload setting question mode, the former makes questions on web and the latter uploads the setted questions on offline with settling a defeat of the existing systems on setting questions. And the system has to be equipped with the function of analyzing the questions that gives teacher several kinds of analysis information and makes possible to feedback to questions by adjusting the difficulty and revising the questions. In this paper, a system that reflects the above requirements has been designed and implemented with PHP script language and MySQL database system.
Design and Application of a XML Based Product Catalog

With an advent of XML(extensible markup language), researches on electronic commerce based on XML have been conducted by many organizations and companies. Although these researches described electronic catalogs, they are not sufficient because in the catalogs, the product information are not classified properly, and are not organized hierarchically. In this paper, we analyse and classify information that can use to describe various products. And then, we suggest the modes that can describe the various products information through the complement of existing researches, and we apply it over several products on the Web. The uses of this model supports flexibility and facility to the product offers such as internet shopping malls.
