Representation of Video Data using Dublin core Model

As most of metadata have been handled on restricted applications, we need a same metadata in order to represent a same video data. However, these metadata make problems that the same video data should be supported by the same metadata. Therefore, in this paper, we extend the Dublin core elements to support the metadata which can solve the problems. The proposed video data representation is managed by the extended metadata of Doblin core model, by using the information of structure, content and manipulation of video data. The thirteen temporal relationship operators are reduced to the six temporal relationship operators by using a dummy shot temporal transformation relationship. The reduced six temporal relationship operators through excluding reverse temporal relationship not only maintain a consistency of representation between a metadata and a video data, but also transform n-ary temporal relationship to binary relationship on shots. We show that the proposed metadata model can be applied to representing and retrieving on various applications as equivalent as the same structure.
The LR-Tree : A spatial indexing of spatial data supporting map generalization

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) need faster access and better visualization. For faster access and better visualization in GIS, map generalization and levels of detail are needed. Existing spatial indexing methods do not support map generalization. Also, a few existing spatial indexing methods supporting map generalization do not support ail map generalization operations. We propose a new index structure, i.e. the LR-tree, supporting ail map generalization operations. This paper presents algorithms for the searching and updating the LR-tree and the results of performance evaluation. Our index structure works better than other spatial indexing methods for map generalization.
Optimization of Post-Processing for Subsequence Matching in Time-Series Databases

Subsequence matching, which consists of index searching and post-processing steps, is an operation that finds those subsequences whose changing patterns are similar to that of a given query sequence from a time-series database. This paper discusses optimization of post-processing for subsequence matching. The common problem occurred in post-processing of previous methods is to compare the candidate subsequence with the query sequence for discarding false alarms whenever each candidate subsequence appears during index searching. This makes a sequence containing candidate subsequences to be accessed multiple times from disk, and also have a candidate subsequence to be compared with the query sequence multiple times. These redundancies cause the performance of subsequence matching to degrade seriously. In this paper, we propose a new optimal method for resolving the problem. The proposed method stores ail the candidate subsequences returned by index searching into a binary search tree, and performs post-processing in a batch fashion after finishing the index searching. By this method, we are able to completely eliminate the redundancies mentioned above. For verifying the performance improvement effect of the proposed method, we perform extensive experiments using a real-life stock data set. The results reveal that the proposed method achieves 55 times to 156 times speedup over the previous methods.
Performance Evaluation of Incremental Update Algorithms for Consistency Maintenance of Materialized Spatial Views

In order to evaluate the performance of incremental update algorithms, we perform experimental tests on the time of updating view objects. In this paper, the incremental update algorithms are evaluated on two kinds of materialized methods : materialization by value-copy and materialization by preserving object identifiers (OIDs). The result of performance evaluation shows that there is little difference in the updating time of view objects between two materialization methods. The evaluation of query processing on spatial views shows that materialization by value-copy is much better than materialization by preserving OIDs. As the results of overall performance evaluation, it is more desirable to use the incremental update method based on materialization by value-copy than the incremental update method based on materialization by preserving OIDs.
Fuzzy Minimum Interval Partition for Uncertain Time Interval

In temporal database, extended time dimension for history management brings about complexity of join operation and increased cost. To solve this problem, a method that joins the divided segment time data after partition the time range into fixed time interval is introduced. But existing methods can't solve the ambiguity problem of time border that caused by temporal granularity in the partition point. In this paper, We suggested Fuzzy Minimum Interval Partition (FMIP) method that introduced the possibility distribution of fuzzy theory considered uncertainty time interval border in the partition line.
An Efficient Algorithm For Mining Association Rules In Main Memory Systems

This paper propose an efficient algorithm for mining association rules in the large main memory systems. To do this, the paper attempts firstly to extend the conventional algorithms such as DHP and Partition in order to be compatible to the large main memory systems and proposes secondly an algorithm to improve Partition algorithm by applying the techniques of the hash table and the bit map. The proposed algorithm is compared to the extended DHP within the experimental environments and the results show up to 65% performance improvement in comparison to the expanded DHP.
Concurrency Control Using the Update Graph in Replicated Database Systems

Replicated database system was emerged to resolve the problem of reduction of the availability and the reliability due to the communication failures and site errors generated at centralized database system. But if update transactions are many occurred, the update is equally executed for all replicated data. Therefore, there are many problems the same thing a message overhead generated by synchronization and the reduce of concurrency happened because of delaying the transaction. In this paper, I propose a new concurrency control algorithm for enhancing the degree of parallelism of the transaction in fully replicated database designed to improve the availability and the reliability. To improve the system performance in the replicated database should be performed the last operations in the submitted site of transactions and be independently executed update-only transactions composed of write-only transactions in all sites. I propose concurrency control method to maintain the consistency of the replicated database and reflect the result of update-only transactions in all sites. The superiority of the proposed method has been tested from the respondence and withdrawal rate. The results confirm the superiority of the proposed technique over classical correlation based method.
Software Development Effort Estimation Using Function Point

Area of software measurement in software engineering is active more than thirty years. There is a huge collection of researches but still no concrete software development effort and cost estimation model. If we want to measure the effort and cost of a software project, we need to estimate the size of the software. A number of software metrics are identified in the literature; the most frequently cited measures are LOC (line of code) and FPA (function point analysis). The FPA approach has features that overcome the major problems with using LOC as a measure of system size. This paper presents simple linear regression model that related software development effort to software size measured in FP. The model is derived from the plotting of the effort and FP relation. The experimental data are collected from 789 software development projects that were recently developed under the various development environments and development methods. Also, the model is compare with other regression analysis model. The presented model has the best estimation ability among the software effort estimation models.
Measuring cohesion of a component

The component-based development methodology becomes famous as the new technology for reuse. That technology can help us easily develop a complex and large system by composing reusable components in short period with high-quality and low-cost. The component-based system nay be developed by composing more than one component. So, the quality of component-based system is determined by individual component duality. Therefore, it is necessary to measure individual component quality for the improvement in quality of component-based system. Hence, in this paper, we propose new component metrics for measuring the cohesion as relationship between classes and interfaces or among classes. Those can be applied in the early stage of software development life cycle. So, we can measure the functional cohesion of component which will be developed. Predicting functional independence of a component, we expect to reduce the software developing cost & effort and improve software quality by reusing a component.
Transformation from Legacy Application Class to JavaBeans for Component Based Development

Reusable software component is an ultimate goal for the software development. Component based development is focused on advanced concepts rather than passive manipulation or class library with source codes. However, the primary component construction in component based development lead to an additional development cost and effort for reconstructing the new software component within a component model. Java application provides several features based on component model. But, we only have an opportunity to develop the smallest reuse units or the restricted set of GUI components. It cannot contributed as a component and only used in the specific domain component with high cost and efforts. In this paper, we apply java component model to the existing java application and extract javabeans through extending the component scalability. We also discuss the algorithm for transformation mechanism from legacy class to javabeans with a partial of business logic.
A study on the evaluation of package software documentation to improve software quality

As the application area of software grows bigger and the importance of software quality increases, software quality evaluation method is also getting a lot of attention. To evaluate the software quality properly, we need an objective and concrete evaluation mechanism. In general, practitioners customize the international standards to their own needs for this purpose. Package software documents plat an important role in software quality evaluation because it provides the information that helps customers use the software effectively and conveniently. h great deal of efforts has been made in terms of international standards for documentation and documentation process. However, those international standards are too abstract to be applied directly to domestic software packages. In this paper, we developed a guidelines and checklists for writing and evaluating package software documents. Our research basically followed ISO 12119, ISO 9127 and some related research results. Also we proved the effectiveness of this research through actual tests with package softwares.
Use Case Diagram Extraction Technique from Requirements Specification

We have to carry out systematic, definite requirements analysis for the successful development of software. The UML gives the ways to grasp user or customer requirements and decide the boundary of business systems from the use case modeling. This paper presents how to extract use case diagram from the requirements specification systematically by applying the standardized rules as a part of the study for use case modeling. We modify requirements specification by applying
(Rules for Requirements Specification) and extract actor, use case, relationship by applying
(Rules for Actors),
(Rules for Use Cases) and
(Rules for Relationships) to the modified requirements specification separately and then become to make out use case diagram in the end. By applying the rules presented in this paper to the requirements specification for personnel management, we can reduce the existing difficulties of extracting use case diagram based on the narrative descriptions without any standardized rules.rules.
Design and Implementation of a Scenario Composition Supporting Tool for Object-Oriented Integration Testing Using the Requirement Trace Table

This paper suggests the scenario composition supporting method, which can be used to perform integration test based on specification, and implemented a scenario composition supporting tool. To compose scenario for object-oriented integration testing, requirement specification, Process definition table and program to table relation diagram are used. In addition, requirement trace table is created. It can check user's requirements, quickly and exactly, dividing former three fables into the stages of requirement analysis, design, and test. The output of scenario composition supporting tool plays a guide part in composing scenario. This tool can reduce scenario composition effort of quality for the checking team and prevent an omission of requirement and input of errors during the test.

Park, Seo and Kim (12) developed the input domain-based SRGM, which was able to quantitatively assess the reliability of a software system during the testing and operational phases. They assumed perfect debugging during testing and debugging phase. To make this input domain-based SRGM more realistic, this assumption should be relaxed. In this paper we generalize the input domain-based SRGM under imperfect debugging. Then its statistical characteristics are investigated.

Development of a Remote Interactive Shell for RTOS

Recently, the Open-Development-Tool-Environment becomes a basic requirement of RTOS (Real Time Operating System) for embedded systems with restricted memory and CPU power in order to develop applications effectively. A remote interactive shell is one of the basic software components which makes users develop, test and control softwares without burdening target systems. In this paper, we have implemented the remote interactive shell with the following functions : loading object modules, spawning and manipulating tasks facilities thru a remote host. Comparing information reference methods with nonredundant overhead, we have achieved the system with easy maintenance. The shell has been developed with Q-PLUS RTOS under ARM EBSA285 target board and NT host.

In this paper, we describe the implementation of the configuration platform (LonWare) based on Linux for LonWorks which is one of the popular standard of home control network. LonWare consists of three modules NMML, Lonware API, LonWare DB, and it provides semantically well-defined APls for application device developers to easily access and control. And, LonWare DB is not needed to be located the outside of home, so the security-safe configurator can be made.

In the Internet based information technology community, the exchange of product information is more activated in e-commerce of B2C and B2B. We have suggested a XML based unified product description model with which all kinds of product informations can be represented. This model also has a feature to avoid duplication of the product information. In this paper, we will implement this model using Java Beans and EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) of the Java component technology, and then test this system over several products on the web. finally, we will analyze the effect due to the removal of the information duplication.

Since component-based development technologies support reusability and enhance productivity of application development, they are adopted for rapid and efficient software development, and among them, EJB component is a Jana-based software development technology widely used in industry. In this paper, we designed and implemented bulletin board and shopping mall which are major constituents of mobile e-commerce system using EJB components, and suggest construction guideline supporting reusability and interoperability.

In this paper, XML form generator is designed and implemented on the basis of e-business's DTD (Document Type Definition) document. Rapid evolving for internet services and information infrastructure give many impacts on the e-business, it need to make a new kinds of web-based or electronic-based document formats for e-business transaction trading. In current situations, there are many kinds of document formats on conventional business documents for each companies. And, it has many problems on the aspects of the document reusability and cost to support interoperability between documents for the trading partners. To solve this interoperability of documents, the constructed XML form generator is changing XML form document into HTML (HyperText Markup Language) based web document by XSLT. And it also generates XML business message validating for e-Business DTD by user Inputs.

This paper propose a communication-based model of relationship marketing and study relationship development between e-business marketing and traditional marketing theory and then show the application of improved relationship marketing model in the e-business. Although e-business already has been an important area, there were so few studies on customer relationship management in e-business. Using the two aspects of communication process and effectiveness at which two precedent effect factors on the trust of customer relationship development and relationship commitment, this paper develop a communication-based model of internet marketing in th e-business.
