Design and implementation of a Web-based OLAP metadata interchange system

As the importance of knowledge management is being recognized, there is a significant amount of increase for interest in data warehousing. On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) systems can effectively make use of data warehouses. Although there are many commercial OLAP products, they have been developed without any kind of standard resulting in poor data exchange and difficulty in interfacing among the OLAP products. In this paper we propose an OLAP metadata interchange model that can be used among different OLAP products and have implemented an OLAP metadata interchange system that can interchange the cubes created from the metadata. XML is used for the OLAP metadata model and the user interface is Web-based, which makes it easier to interchange metadata among different OLAP products. Users can experience the different analysis environments of different products without the need to learn the complex cube creation process for each product. By extending this research to design a common query language that can be used among OLAP products, OLAP products should be able to more easily talk to one another.
Design and Implementation of Open Web Map Server

Over the past few years, a number of studies have been made on web map services which enable the GIS user to access spatial data through the web. They, however. have focused on only implementation techniques separately, such at map client implementation map server implementation, communication between client and server, and the map data representation. Therefore, it is hard to share and practical use the spatial data, because they does not ensure interoperability in heterogeneous map servers. In this paper, In this paper, we have designed and implemented the web map server with open architecture. which complies with the standard interfaces proposed by OpenGIS Consortium (OGC). In particular, we have extended the OGC`s Interfaces for a map server to support one or more data sources. This paper has contributed to construction and practical use of web map services by newly proposing the method of implementation of a map server. which could be reused regardless of the types of data sources.
On XML Data Processing through Implementing A Deductive and Object-oriented Database Language

With the advent of XML and database languages armed with the object-oriented concept and deductive logic, the problem of efficient query processing for them has become a major issue. We describe a way of processing semi-structured XML data through an implementation of a Deductive and Object-oriented Database (DOODB) language with the explanation of query processing. We have shown how to convert an XML data model to a DOODB data model. We have then presented an efficient query processing method based on Connection Graph Resolution. We also present a knowledge-based query processing method that uses the homomorphism of objects in the database and the associative rule of substitutions.
A Transformation Technique of XML DTD to Relational Database Schema Based On Extracting Common Structure in XML Documents

XML is emerging as a standard data format to exchange and to present data on the Web. There are increasing needs to efficiently store and to query XML data. In this paper. we propose a new schema transformation algorithm based on a common structure extracting technique from XML documents. The common structure is shared by all XML documents referenced by DTD and the uncommon structure is ununiformly appeared on all XML documents referenced by DTD. Based on the extracted common and uncommon structures, we transform XML DTD into relational database schema. We conduct a performance evaluation based on the number of the generated tables, the size of the record, query processing time and the number of joins on the query. The performance of our algorithm is compared with the existing algorithms, then in most cates, our algorithm is better than the existing ones with respect to the number of the generated tables and appearance of NULL values in the tables.
Design and Implementation of personalized recommendation system using Case-based Reasoning Technique

We design and implement a new case-based recommender system using implicit rating information for a digital content site. Our system consists of the User Profile Generation module, the Similarity Evaluation and Recommendation module, and the Personalized Mailing module. In the User Profile Generation Module, we define intra-attribute and inter-attribute weight deriver from own`s past interests of a user stored in the access logs to extract individual preferences for a content. A new similarity function is presented in the Similarity Evaluation and Recommendation Module to estimate similarities between new items set and the user profile. The Personalized Mailing Module sends individual recommended mails that are transformed into platform-independent XML document format to users. To verify the efficiency of our system, we have performed experimental comparisons between the proposed model and the collaborative filtering technique by mean absolute error (MAE) and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) values. The results show that the proposed model is more efficient than the traditional collaborative filtering technique.

According as mobile computing environment is generalized by development of wireless networking technology and communication device, mobile host uses local cache for extensibility and early response time. and reduction of limited bandwidth. This time, between mobile host and mobile support station cache need consistency interested person of done data accordingly much techniqueses propose. Existent consistency techniques because detection based techniqueses are used mainly and broadcast periodic invalid message considering frequent disconnection. However, these techniqueses increase abort step through increase or delay of transmission message number by accuracy examination of data. Therefore, because mobile host deletes cached data, and extensity are decreased. Techniques that is proposed in this paper did to perform refering update frequency about object that page request or when complete update operation happens to solve these problem. Therefore, have advantage that response is fast because could run write intention declaration or update by update frequency electively asynchronously when update operation consists and abort step decreases. Also, improved extensity running delete or propagation electively according to update frequency about periodic invalid message gone since disconnection.
A Study on the Depth-Oriented Decomposition Indexing Method for Creating and Searching Structured Documents Based-on XML

The goal of this study is to generate a structured document which improves the performance of an information retrieval system by using thesaurus, information on relations between words (terms), and to study on the technique for searching this structured document. In order to accomplish this goal, we propose a DODI (Depth -Oriented Decomposition Index) technique for the structured document and an algorithm to search for related information efficient]y through this index technique that uses a thesaurus. We establish a storage system by which the structured document generated by this index technique is saved in a database through OpenXML and XML documents are generated through ForXML methods.

This paper intends to suggest a XML-based secure E-Procurement system using Unified Modeling Language(UML), as an application system for domestic automobile industry. Applying UML methodology, which is Component-based Development (CBD), we analyzed the workflow on procurement operation of automobile industry and implemented a prototype of efficient E-Procurement system for automobile industry, by developing XML/EDI and XML signature. Also, on this paper, object-oriented CBD is employed to minimize the risk of life cycle and reuse software as mentioned to limitation of information engineering methodology. It enables the interoperability with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) as corporate legacy system. This system proposes a solution to apply analysis and design of workflow, component development, interoperability with corporate information system, and XML signature for integrity and authentication of electronic documents in other system so far.

Recently, the lesson plan document that is imported in the educational area is not provided to the educational information systematically, and the teachers are not easy to compose the lessen plan documentation. So, it needs additional time and effort to develope the lesson plan documents. Because of increasing the distributing network. web-based lesson plan system is required to all of the education area. Therefore, we need to compose the lesson plan that is possible to obtain the various teacher`s requirement by providing creation, retrival, and reusability of document using the standard XML on web. In this paper, we developed the system for creating the common DTD (Document Type Definition), providing the standard XML document through the common DTD over the lesson plan analysis. In this system, it provides the editor to compose the lesson plan and supports the searching function to improvement of reusability on the existing lesson plan. We design the searching functions such as the structure base, facet and keyword. The composed lesson plans are interoperated with Database. Consequently, we can share the information on web by composing the lesson plan using the XML and save the time and cost by directly writing the lesson plan on web. We can also provide the improved learning environment.
A Development of Central Policy Database for managing Heterogeneous Firewall Systems

With a remarkable growth and expansion of Internet, the security issues emerged from intrusions and attacks such as computer viruses, denial of services and hackings to destroy information have been considered as serious threats for Internet and the private networks. To protect networks from intrusions and attacks, many vendors have developed various security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. However, managing these systems individually demands too much work and high cost. Thus, integrated and autonomous security management for various security products has become more important. In this paper, we present the architecture of the WISMSF (Web-based Integrated Security Management System for Firewalls) and the merits of centralized approach for managing heterogeneous firewalls and implement the prototype of the central policy database that is a component of the WISMSF engine. The WISMSF engine supports an integrated view for policies, the integrity of polities and the easy recovery and addition of policies. And also, we define the policy conflicts of WISMSF and present the policy recovery process to support to the policies consistence.
Design of Vehicle Location Tracking System using Mobile Interface

Recent development in wireless computing and GPS technology cause the active development in the application system of location information in real-time environment such as transportation vehicle management, air traffic control and location based system. Especially, study about vehicle location tracking system, which monitors the vehicle`s position in a control center, is appeared to be a representative application system. However, the current vehicle location tracking system can not provide vehicle position information that is not stored in a database at a specific time to users. We designed a vehicle location tracking system that could track vehicle location using mobile interface such as PDA. The proposed system consist of a vehicle location retrieving server and a mobile interface. It is provide not only the moving vehicle`s current location but also the position at a past and future time which is not stored in database for users.
The Procedure for Improving Structural Methodology or Information engineering Methodology

The software development methodology has not caught up with the rapid change of information technology. Most of the software development projects use structural methodology or information engineering methodology. If established software development methodologies don`t reflect technologies applied to the project, the project may be performed ineffectively. This paper describes a model in which we can apply a new information technology to an already existed structural methodology or information engineering methodology. This model uses the technique of the divide and conquer that software development life cycle is divided into phases, each phase is divided into viewpoint- areas and the software development processes of a new information technology are applied to each small area. By using the design phase this paper shows application example, in which I applied web-based development processes to CS@RoadMap Methodology of KCC Information & Communication, a system provider in Korea. The CS@RoadMap Methodology reflecting the Web technology, Web@RoadMap Methodology, has been applied to the public-domain projects.
Development of an Organism-specific Protein Interaction Database with Supplementary Data from the Web Sources

This paper presents the development of a protein interaction database. The developed system is characterized as follows. First, the proposed system not only maintains interaction data collected by an experiment, but also the genomic information of the protein data. Secondly, the system can extract details on interacting proteins through the developed wrappers. Thirdly, the system is based on wrapper-based system in order to extract the biologically meaningful data from various web sources and integrate them into a relational database. The system inherits a layered-modular architecture by introducing a wrapper-mediator approach in order to solve the syntactic and semantic heterogeneity among multiple data sources. Currently the system has wrapped the relevant data for about 40% of about 11,500 proteins on average from various accessible sources. A wrapper-mediator approach makes a protein interaction data comprehensive and useful with support of data interoperability and integration. The developing database will be useful for mining further knowledge and analysis of human life in proteomics studies.
Recovery Technique using PLT in a Page-Server Object Oriented DBMS

Recently, with a drop in memory chip price and rapid development of mass storage memory chip technology, research on client-server Database Management Systems has gained wide attention. This Paper discusses the recovery technique in a page-server OODBMS environment. Although most researchers have studied client-server systems, the recovery technique has been a poor researches. In this paper, client transfers only the completed log records to the server and resolves the problems in the current recovery techniques. In addition, the server manages only the execution of completed log records suggesting a simple recover algorithm, Client uses system concurrency, fully, by acting to abort actions and it suggests a page unit recovery technique to reduce time that is required in the whole database.
A Unified Design Methodology using UML Classes for XML Application based on RDB

Nowadays the information exchange based on XML such as B2B electronic commerce is spreading. Therefore a systematic and stable management mechanism for storing the exchanged information is needed. For this goal there are many research activities for concerning the connection between XML application and relational databases. But because XML data has hierarchical structure and relational databases can store only flat-structured data, we need to make a conversion rule which changes the hierarchical architecture to a 2-dimensional format. Accordingly the modeling methodology for storing such structured information in relational databases is needed. In order to build good quality application systems, modeling is an important first step. In 1997, the OMG adopted the UML as its standard modeling language. Since industry has warmly embraced UML, its popularity should become more important in the future. So a design methodology based on UML is needed to develop efficient XML applications. In this paper, we propose a unified design methodology for XML applications based on relational database using UML. To reach these goals, first we introduce a XML modeling methodology to design W3C XML schema using UML and second we propose data modeling methodology for relational database schema to store XML data efficiently in relational databases.
A Study on Car License Plate Extraction using ACL Algorithm

In recognition system of the car license plate, the most important is to extract the image of the license plate from a car image. In this paper, we use ACL (Adaptive Color Luminance) algorithm to extract the license plate image from a car image. The ACL algorithm that uses color and luminance information of a car image is used to extract the image of the license plate. In this paper, color, luminance and other related information of a car image are used to extract the image of the license plate from that of a car. In this reason, we call it the ACL algorithm. The ACL algorithm uses color, luminance information and other related information of a license plate. These informations are avaliable to exact the image of the license plate. The rate of extracting the image of the license plate from a car is 97%. The experimental result of the ACL algorithm for the character region is 92%.
Prediction of Forest Fire Hazardous Area Using Predictive Spatial Data Mining

In this paper, we propose two predictive spatial data mining based on spatial statistics and apply for predicting the forest fire hazardous area. These are conditional probability and likelihood ratio methods. In these approaches, the prediction models and estimation procedures are depending un the basic quantitative relationships of spatial data sets relevant forest fire with respect to selected the past forest fire ignition areas. To make forest fire hazardous area prediction map using the two proposed methods and evaluate the performance of prediction power, we applied a FHR (Forest Fire Hazard Rate) and a PRC (Prediction Rate Curve) respectively. In comparison of the prediction power of the two proposed prediction model, the likelihood ratio method is mort powerful than conditional probability method. The proposed model for prediction of forest fire hazardous area would be helpful to increase the efficiency of forest fire management such as prevention of forest fire occurrence and effective placement of forest fire monitoring equipment and manpower.
Development of Electronic Medical Record System Using XML

In the medical field. the desire of the hospital information system based on the advanced computer technology has been increased because hospital staffs wanted to provide better medical services to their patients by using it. So, the electronic medical records have emerged to share and exchange medical and healthcare information stored in database. In this paper. we developed an electronic medical record system using XML. This system includes four modules : data repository. document structure manager, document writter and XML automatic generator. For the purpose of evaluating the usability of the electronic medical records of our system, we also applied it to out-patient medical records in the department of orthopedic surgery.
A Design and Implementation of ROM Framework for Developing HLA Federate

Possibility of federation improvement requires flexibility and adaptability of member federates. Moreover, to develop and convert a non-HLA(High Level Architecture) compliant model as a HLA federate and allow this federate to be integrated with a changeable federation, more time and efforts will be necessary. In this research, I proposed a method to design and implement a ROM (RTI Object Model) Framework as a solution to this problem. ROM completely separates RTI (Run-Time Infrastructure) programming and simulation programming therefore providing epochal efficiencies in cost and productivity to the development a HLA federate that supports a changeable FOM. That is, ROM contains two layers : 1) a management layer that manages RTI services between the RTI and the federate and 2) a Foundation Class layer that actually updates/reflects objects and interactions. These two layers allow federate developers to use more generalized HLA services and automates the iterative, low-level RTI programming process.
Web Document Transcoding Technique for Small Display Devices

We propose a web document transcoding technique that translates existing web pages designed for desktop computers into an appropriate form for hand-held devices connected to the wireless internet. By defining a content block based on a visual separation and using it as a minimum unit for analyzing and converting processes, we can get web pages converted more exactly. We also apply the reallocation of the content block and the generation of new index in order to provide convenient interface without left-right scrolling in small screen devices. These methods, compared with existing ways such as text level summary or partial extraction method, can provide efficient navigation and a full recognition of web documents. To gain those transcoding benefits, we propose the Layout-Forming Tag Analysis Algorithm that analyzes structural tags, which motivate visual separation and the Component Grouping Algorithm that extracts the content block. We also classify and rearrange the content block and generate the new index to produce an appropriate form of web pages for small display devices. We have designed and implemented our transcoding system in a proxy server and evaluated the methods and the algorithms through an analysis of transcoded results. Our transcoding system showed a good result on most of popular web pages that have complicated structures.
