The Study on Usefulness Evaluation of a Technology Opportunity Discovery Service

In this study we evaluate usefulness of InSciTe Advanced, technology opportunity service offering trends information related technologies by analyzing automatically large amount of data. Before developing the service, InSciTe Advanced, we design 5 main services - Trends and Predictions, Technology Levels, Relationship Paths, Roadmaps, Competitors and Collaborators - through the interviews with expert in planning R&D strategy. And we evaluate usefulness of each service in InSciTe Advanced to examine how the information analyzed by InSciTe Advanced are useful to user from two points of view, Satisfaction of Information and Completeness of Information. Users set a high value on 5 main services in all tis aspects, but give relative low grades to completeness of Information. We will learn lessons from this study, increase kinds and amount of data, and strengthen the process about accuracy and reliability of analyzed information from the service.
A Design and Implementation for a Reliable Data Storage in a Digital Tachograph

The digital tachograph is a device that automatically records speed and distance of a vehicle, together with the driver's activity and vehicle status at an accident. It records vehicle speed, break status, acceleration, engine RPM, longitude and latitude of GPS, accumulated distance, and so on. European Commission regulation made digital tachographs mandatory for all trucks from 2005. Republic of Korea made digital tachographs mandatory for all new business vehicles from 2011 and is widening the range of vehicles that must install digital tachographs year by year. This device is used to analyze driver's daily driving information and car accidents. Under a car accident that makes the device reliability unpredictable, it is very important to store driving information with maximum reliability for its original mission. We designed and implemented a practical digital tachograph. This paper presents a storage scheme that consists of a first storage device with small capacity at a high reliability and a second storage device with large capacity at a low cost in order to reliably records data with a hardware at a low cost. The first storage device records data in a SLC NAND flash memory in a log-structured style. We present a reverse partial scan that overcomes the slow scan time of log-structured storages at the boot stage. The scheme reduced the scan time of the first storage device by 1/50. In addition, our design includes a scheme that fast stores data at a moment of accident by 1/20 of data transfer time of a normal method.
An Economic Ship Routing System Based on a Minimal Dynamic-cost Path Search Algorithm

An economic ship routing means to sail a ship with a goal of minimizing the fuel consumption by utilizing weather forecast information, and various such systems have been recently studied. For a successful economic ship routing system, an efficient algorithm is needed to search an optimal geographical path, and most of the previous systems were approaching to that problem through a minimal static-cost path search algorithm based on the Dijkstra algorithm. To apply that kind of search algorithm, the cost of every edge assigned with the estimated fuel consumption should be constant. However, that assumption is not practical at all considering that the actual fuel consumption is determined by the weather condition when the ship will pass the edge. To overcome such a limitation, we propose a new optimal ship routing system based on a minimal dynamic-cost path search algorithm by properly modifying the Dijkstra algorithm. In addition, we propose a method which efficiently reduces the search space by using the
algorithm to decrease the running time. We compared our system with the shortest path-based sailing method over ten testing routes and observed that the former reduced the estimated fuel consumption than the latter by 2.36% on average and the maximum 4.82% with little difference of estimated time of arrival.
Design and Performance Analysis of Cost-Effective and Fast Inter-Domain NEMO Scheme with Multicasting Support

In recent years, there are many data and multimedia services that are supported by WiFi-enabled mobile devices. As a result, the demand for the ability to connect to the Internet anywhere is rapidly increasing and network infrastructure is becoming increasingly important. The design of cost-efficient network mobility (NEMO) protocol is intended to reduce the demand for limited wired/wireless network bandwidth at the signaling of mobility support and packet delivery operations. In this paper, we propose a cost-effective inter-LMA domain mobility management scheme which provides fast handover with multicasting support in NEMO environments. And our Fast PR-NEMO scheme is compared with N-PMIPv6, rNEMO, and PR-NEMO. In conclusion, our proposed scheme shows the best performance in terms of location updating cost, and packet tunneling cost.
A Method for Determining Sending Rates of Peers for Efficient Network Resource Utilization in P2P Environment

The performance of P2P application services may be improved by reducing unnecessary inter-network traffic through intelligent peer selection. However, since a logical link between peers in a P2P overlay network is composed of a set of physical links in an underlay network, the traffic pattern determined by the sending rates of selected peers imposes loads on each underlay links. Thus, if the sending rates are not determined carefully, the loads between underlay links may not be balanced, which means some links are underloaded while the other links are congested. In this paper, we take an optimization approach to determine the sending rates of peers strategically to avoid the inefficient use of underlay links. The proposed scheme also guarantee the minimum receiving rates of peers while minimizing the maximum link utilization of underlay links, which is beneficial both to P2P applications and an underlay network.
Risk Management interaction model for Process of Information Security Governance

Recently, IT Governance has been applied to business management environment. In this paper, we study business model that can minimize information security risk using IT governance in cloud computing environment. Especially, we propose the interaction model that link risk management for subject of information security governance. In our model, synergy means the effective, strategic and secure business support. And interaction analysis of BMIS's 4 elements and 6 dynamic interconnections is required. Therefore we propose interaction model which can link risk management based on COSO ERM or COBIT Risk IT Framework.
Reducing of Authentication Signaling Traffic in LTE Networks

As a result of the prevalence of smartphone, various mobile services became faster by LTE networks. Because many mobile devices are used more wireless services, heavy signaling traffic for authentication could be generated. Authentication is an important factor in wireless networks to identify devices; it is the start of wireless networks. This paper analyzes previous patterns for more effective authentication in accessing of another external networks. We propose a fast authentication scheme for minimizing of signaling cost between the authentication server and external networks. And we calculate the rate of authentication occurrence in LTE networks using mathematical modeling as well as the change of signaling cost for authentication in various network environments. Finally, we calculate the optimized number of authentication data and show the effectiveness for authentication signaling costs.
