Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 11, issue 2, 1994, Pages 3~29
Problems encountered under the (TDF) transdorder data flow and the current insights of overseas information services which have considerable influences to the domenstic information market are discussed. The various organizations which provide the oversears database services and do bridge role to the domestic users are investigated. Attention is given to that the overseas information services must be understood and proceeded in the perspective of TDF and of the considerable problems implicated, and that the researchers having interests about information services must have an idea to the information sovereignty.
A Study on Citation Analysis of Social Science Literature
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 11, issue 2, 1994, Pages 31~48
This study attempts to investigate the scatter of citation, obsolescence, and half-life of some social science literature. For the study 131 journal articles taken from three scholarly journals in the field of Economics. Public Administration, and Library and Information Science are selected and all analyses are taken in terms of the material types, the publication place, and the publication year of the papers cited by those journal articles. In result, it was found that the half-life of monographs is 6.76, that of scholarly journal articles 8.07, that of reports 6.49, and that of theses 3.45. Also, the study finds that most researchers in those field, cited more articles published in foreign countries(67.79%) that those published from Korea(32.21%).
An Empirical Study on the Use of Non-Book Materials in the library of Social Science
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 11, issue 2, 1994, Pages 49~66
This project is to design and to implement an cornputenzed acquisition system by structured analysis technique for the Yomi university library. In result of desgmng, we added three subsystems, whlch are accession control, account, and print out system, to DOBIS/E acquisition system because we found that our DOBIS/E acquision system is able to use as we do ordenng and receiving in traditional process. DOBIS/E system and three added subsystems is closely related, and allow acquisition librarians to work more efficiently than before.

A Study on Design Of Cataloging Expert System Using Pattern Recognition Techniques
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 11, issue 2, 1994, Pages 131~164
This study shows the design and implementation of cataloging expert system using pattern recognition techniques. This system attemps to demonstrate the feasibility of cataloging in KORMARC format from title page and copyright page without the intervention of humans. The prototype was implemented as a rule-based system in Turbo C. To demonstrate the function and capability of the system, experimental document-group and control document-group was analyzed. The hit ratio of experimental document-group is 94%. On the other hand, the hit ratio of control document-group is 93%, a little bit lower than the experimental group.
Database design and production in ETLARS system
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 11, issue 2, 1994, Pages 165~184
DB production process includes a series of data analysis, DB design, source data input, data conversion and load, and DB operation and maintenance. Software development and operation technique for data input and DR production is similar to each other, even though each computer environment or the function of information retrieval system is a little different. The purpose of this paper is to introduce software for data input and DR production in ETLARS system, which is providing services to 6.000 users ( a s of Oct. 10, 1994) by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, and to open know-how information in the production and operation of Hanguel DR.
