Seo, Eun-Gyoung ;
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 27, issue 4, 2010, Pages 7~32
DOI : 10.3743/KOSIM.2010.27.4.007
The aims of this study were to provide a global overview of research trends in information science and to trace its changes in the main research topics over time using trends analysis. The study examined the topics of research articles published in Journal of Korean Society for Information Management between 1984 and 2009. Rather than taking a single snapshot of a given point in time, this study attempted to present a series of such pictures in order to identify trends over time. The fairly arbitrary decision was taken to divide the period under consideration into three 'publication windows': 1984-1994, 1995-2002, 2003-2009. The study revealed that the most productive areas were 'Information Service', followed by 'Information Organization', and 'Information System'. The most productive sub-areas were 'Library Service', 'User Study', 'Automatic Document Analysis', 'ILS', 'Thesaurus/Ontology', and 'Digital Library'. From the comparisons of intellectual structures of title keywords, the key research area in the field of Information Science was 'Information Retrieval'. The studies of IT applications and service system evaluation have been expanded.

Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 27, issue 4, 2010, Pages 33~47
DOI : 10.3743/KOSIM.2010.27.4.033
The growth of IT technology and the popularity of network based information sharing increase the number of digital contents in military area. Thus, there arise issues of finding suitable public information with the growing number of long-term preservation of digital public information. According to the source of raw data and the time of compilation may be variable and there can be existed in many correlations about digital contents. The business service ontology makes knowledge explicit and allows for knowledge sharing among information provider and information consumer for public digital archive engaged in improving the searching ability of digital public information. The business service ontology is at the interface as a bridge between information provider and information consumer. However, according to the difficulty of semantic knowledge extraction for the business process analysis, it is hard to realize the automation of constructing business service ontology for mapping from unformed activities to a unit of business service. To solve the problem, we propose a new business service auto-acquisition method for the first step of constructing a business service ontology based on Enterprise Architecture.

Yoo, Jae-Bok ; Chung, Young-Mee ;
Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, volume 27, issue 4, 2010, Pages 239~258
DOI : 10.3743/KOSIM.2010.27.4.239
The purpose of this study is to develop a prediction model of patent citation counts based on major factors which affect patent citation. To this end, we performed multiple regression analysis between the patent citation counts and five explanatory variables such as the number of pages, the number of claims, the reference-average-citation rate, the strength of bibliographic coupling, and the document similarity proved as having 5% or more standardized variances(
) with patent citation counts, with a test dataset of U.S. patents in five subject fields. As a result, our prediction models showed 58.3% to 89.6% predictability depending on subject fields and revealed the document similarity has the highest impact on citation counts among the five predictive variables in all the subject fields. The result of comparison between the predicted citation counts and the actual ones confirmed the usefulness of the citation prediction models built for each subject field.
