An Analysis of User Satisfaction on a Case of D Children`s Library Website

The purpose of this study is to analyze the user satisfaction, royalty and compliant of a children`s library Website. To achieve the aim of this study a modified Kim and Park`s model of the user satisfaction index which consists of information quality, service quality, and system quality dimension is adopted. A total of 130 valid responses to the questionnaire were analysed using SPSS 18. It is found that the higher the user satisfaction gives the higher the royalty and the lower the compliant. For the contents quality dimension, the items of Usability, Accuracy, Easy of understand, Reliability and Up-to-date; for the service quality dimension, the items of Interface design, Reliability, Responsiveness, and Empathy; for the system quality dimension, the items of Response time, Interactive, Easy to access, and Easy to use show a significant relationships to the users` satisfaction.
A Study on the Influence of the Recovery Methods of Information Service Failure on Online User Justice and Satisfaction

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of information service failure severity within existing framework of service recovery justice research and analyse the effects of the attribution of service recoveries on recovered user satisfaction and revisit. For empirical analysis, A total of 452 valid questionnaires were used to analyse the data gathered from university students who experienced the information service failures of university library. Some findings of the research are as follows: First, service failure severity has negative effect on service recovery justice. Second, procedural and interactional recovery justice has positive effect on recovered user satisfaction. Third, service recovery justice has significant influence on procedural and interactional justice. Finally, recovered user satisfaction has positive effect on user revisit and mouth of word.
The Effect of Cultural and Demographic Factors on the Perception of Product Information among Korean College Students

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of cultural and demographic factors (age and gender) on the perception of product information. The theoretical frameworks of interest in the current study are two cultural models: Hofstede`s individualism (IND) and Hall`s context. In examining the research questions, this research discovers that the cultural changes are occurring for the Korean young generation, even though Korean students are still within collectivistic culture. The correlation results suggest that the younger students have the higher individualism values compared to the older students. Using two multiple regression analyses (one set for high-context condition and one set for low-context condition), the study finds that cultural value and age significantly predicts the perception of product information in high-context (visual) condition. However, there is no significant difference in the perception of product information between male and female.
An Analysis on Interlibrary Loan Network of Public Libraries in Gyeonggi Province

The purpose of this study was to analyze ILL data in Gyeonggi province so that it could make a further analysis on current inter-regional network of book collection in ILL. In details, this study sought to analyze inter-regional network of ILL book collection among public libraries in Gyeonggi province to examine how a collection of books could be exchanged among those libraries, and analyze possible applications of task-based data in ILL. As a result, this study could verify that the further implementation of ILL across more detailed areas than current regions for the benefit of efficient ILL, if possible, would contribute to streamlining ILL practices.
A Study on Online Science & Technology Information Service Quality Measurement Using Expectation and Disconfirmation Analysis

The purpose of this study is to reveal their satisfaction procedures from users of information service expectation-disconfirmation theory. To achieve this goal, we use the NDSLQual model to measure the quality of NDSL service. The results were as follows: First, while the expectation has a negative effect on the expectation-disconfirmation, it has a positive effect on the perceived performance. And perceived performance has a positive effect on the expectation-disconfirmation. Second, the expectation-disconfirmation has a positive effect on the overall satisfaction and loyalty. However the explanatory adequacy of the regression model is very low. Third, perceived performance has a positive effect on the overall satisfaction and loyalty. In order to increase the overall satisfaction and loyalty for NDSL, it is necessary to seek ways to improve the perceived performance and lower the expectation-disconfirmation.
A Study on the Development of Metadata Elements for Intangible Cultural Heritage Records Based on FRBR

This study develops metadata elements based on the FRBR model for effectively managing and retrieving intangible cultural heritage records. Since intangible cultural heritage has a logical layer from its concept to a physical record that realizes the concept and it can be expressed in diverse formats such as video and audio, it is necessary to represent such rich relationships. Therefore, this study suggests a set of metadata elements at each of the four levels (work, expression, manifestation, and item) the FRBR Group 1 presents.
A Study on Analysis of Remodeling Target Institution for Larchiveum Spatial Planning

There are increasing needs for complex information services for user of cultural heritage institution recently. And the concept of "Larchiveum", merging of functions of libraries, archives and museums, is suggested in United States and researches associated with this concept are progressed on Korean information science. At present, however, the larchiveum has not been materialized, and hence researches focus on theoretical frameworks. Therefore, this study establishes plans for an analysis with planning of institutions that libraries, archives and museums are remodeled into larchiveum. Methodologically, the research processes of existing larchiveum spatial planning are specified. More realistic implementing measures for larchiveum spatial planning are suggested through utilization of related law & guidelines as analysis tools.
A Study on Analyzing the Disabled-related Information Behavior

In spite of various efforts to resolve digital divide of people with disabilities, it still has a long way to go because there lack of identifying information needs of people with disabilities and potential users including their family and the related, and integrated information channels such as a portal, and so on. In this context, this study aims at analyzing the users` unique information behavior and evaluating usability of domestic web information services for people with disabilities which are currently serviced. Increasingly, we suggest new functional requirements of building a library portal for people with disabilities.
Analyzing Faceted Navigations of OPAC in Korean University Libraries

This research analyzed how the main requisites of faceted navigation as names of facets, subterms of facets, order of facets, too many results were user-centric. On the research method, this research analyzed the results of the three keywords retrieved in the 15 university libraries` catalogs and how was user`s familiarity to the terms. Although domestic universities have serviced facet navigation, the names of the facet of publication date and series title in format and the terms under the facets as multimedia and nonbook material, media material are too difficult intuitively to understand and there were lots of formal terms used in cataloging rules and the terms librarians have usually used. Because of the terms, there is high possibility to deteriorate users` satisfaction and usability to library catalog in future. Even though they serviced facet navigation, there was also weakness as too many results and the university libraries need to use relevance ranking method to solve the weakness. This research has found the possibility of being used too many of levels of the facets and this may also badly affect the users` experience to library catalog.
Examining the Intellectual Structure of a Medical Informatics Journal with Author Co-citation Analysis and Co-word Analysis

Due to the development of science and technology, the convergence of various disciplines has been fostered. Accordingly, interdisciplinary studies have increasingly been expanded by integrating knowledge and methodology from different disciplines. The primary focus of biblimetric methods is on investigating the intellectual structure a field, and analysis of the characterization of interdisciplinary studies is overlooked. In this study, we aim to identify the intellectual structure of the field of medical informatics through author co-citation analysis and co-word analysis by the representative journal "IEEE ENG MED BIOL." In addition, we examine authors and MeSH Terms of top three representative journals for further analysis of the field. We examine the intellectual structure of the medical informatics field by author and word clusters to identify the network structure of medical informatics disciplines.
A Study on the Correlation between the Appearance Frequency of Author Keyword and the Number of Citation in the Humanities and Social Science Journal Articles of the Korea Citation Index (KCI)

The purpose of this study is to verify the correlation between the appearance frequency of author keyword and the number of citation in journal articles. In this study, we were trying to develop a methodology that can select the term having semantic relation with other terms and higher utilization to build a structured scientific glossary. In order to achieve this purpose, we analyzed the number of citation and the author keyword of the humanities and social science journal articles of the Korea Citation Index (KCI) from 2007 to 2011. This study found a correlation between appearance frequency of author keyword and the number of citation of the journal articles, with higher appearance frequency of author keyword of the journal articles being more cited.
Service Quality Assessment of University Libraries in Korea using LibQUAL+ : A Case Study

The paper describes a case study in which Sungkyunkwan University Library participated in the official ARL(Assoication of Research Libraries) LibQUAL+ evaluation program. LibQUAL+ model is based on the SERVQUAL service quality evaluation model originally developed in the marketing area. It details a number of processes including translation of the LibQUAL+ survey instrument into Korean, selection of study sample and choice of survey versions. In addition, it offers a number of strategies that can be adopted in order to analyze the survey data for various comparisons among different user groups and institutions. LibQUAL+ is more that a survey instrument; it a holistic system for assessing library service quality. Despite criticisms on LibQUAL+, we expect that university libraries in Korean will benefit from participating in the program. It is preferable that a group of libraries form a consortium to participate in the LibQUAL+ program as opposed to individual participation. The consortium can function as a learning community through various workshops and sharing activities, thus elevate the overall evaluation efforts in Korean libraries to a higher level.
Comparative Analyses of the Uses of Information and Information Technologies in the Everyday Life of Undergraduate and Graduate Students Majoring Science and Engineering

This study purported to study the uses of information and communication technology (ICT) tools in their daily life among the undergraduate and graduate students majoring science and engineering. It also examined the purposes of the uses of the major ICT tools, the differences in their information technology uses between graduate and undergraduate students. The data were collected from 83 undergraduate and graduate students from four universities using content analysis of an observational logs and a survey questionnaire. The observational logs were collected using an instant message application available on a smart phone. Study results revealed desktop computers, laptop computers, and smart phones as the three most heavily used ICT tools among the participants and typical situations students use each of the three tools. There were also sharp distinctions between graduate and undergraduate students in their selection of the tools, and distinctions between work and non-work situations. The findings of this study can be used to redesign information services and systems for the scientists and engineers in the next generation.
Analysis and Evaluation of Term Suggestion Services of Korean Search Portals: The Case of Naver and Google Korea

This study aims to analyze and evaluate term suggestion services of major search portals, Naver and Google Korea. In particular, this study evaluated relevance and currency of related search terms provided, and analyzed characteristics such as number and distribution of terms, and queries that did not produce terms. This study also analyzed types of terms in terms of the relationship between queries and terms, and investigated types and characteristics of harmful terms and terms with grammatical errors. Finally, Korean queries and English queries, and popular queries and academic queries were compared in terms of the amount and relevance of search terms provided. The results of this study show that the relevance and currency of Naver`s related search terms are somewhat higher than those of Google. Both Naver and Google tend to add terms to or delete terms from original queries, and provide identical search terms or synonym terms rather than providing entirely new search terms. The results of this study can be implemented to the portal`s effective development of term suggestion services.
