A Low Power smartRF Transceiver Hardware Design For 2.4 GHz Applications

There are many researches to reduce power consumption of battery-operated Transceiver for 2.4 GHz smartRF applications. However, components such as processor, memory and LCD based power managements reach the limit of reducing power consumption. To overcome the limit, this research proposes novel low-power Transceiver and transceiver Hardware Design. Experimental results in the real smartRF Transceiver show that the proposed methods can reduce power consumption additionally than component based power managements.
Effective Transmission Method for low power RF systems

In wireless communication system using 2.4GHz radio link, data rate varies with time due to interferences, which causes the performance degradation. Therefore, effective transmission methods are required to obtain better performance according to varying data rate. This paper proposes a novel method that increases the data rate, as well as the influence of different loop-filter bandwidths on the performance of the PLL. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective because it can achieve higher throughput in various data rate.
A Study of Diagnostic Algorithm for Quantitative Evaluation of the Stress Urinary Incontinence

Pelvic floor muscle is the main subsystem that maintains urinary continence. It is possible to diagnose the degree of the stress urinary incontinence(SUI) by evaluating the contraction pressure of the pelvic floor muscle. Bio-signal measurement system was developed to measure the contraction pressure. Diagnostic parameters were drawn out by analyzing the measured data. Statistical evaluations were done to classify the all subjects with five groups each has similar characteristics. SUI diagnostic algorithm was implemented to each group separately. The accuracy of the algorithm was about 78.9% and utility was confirmed by clinical trial.
Design of Optimum Structure for Search Synchronization in a DSSS Modem for eSeal

In this paper, we study an optimum design of search synchronization structure for Baseband Modem to support ISO/IEC 18185-5 and 24730-2 Standard. For DSSS Modem, we design the code acquisition and tracking structure which are important in receiver operation, and examine the parameters to be considered. The data and PN chip transmission rates and processing gain of the proposed modem are 59.7 kbps, 30.521875 Mcps, and 27 dB, respectively. This indicates that the noise immunity of the proposed modem is 17dB better than IEEE 802.11b (Processing gain : 10dB). Therefore, we design the optimum structure for the modem search synchronization which is compatible to the proposed modem standard.
A Study on the Thermal Characteristics of Tunable All-Optical Filter Using Fiber Bragg Grating

In this paper, the thermal characteristics of a tunable all-optical fiber Bragg grating(FBG) filter was investigated by numerical analysis. From the results, it is possible to tune a Bragg center wavelength along temperature variation because a Bragg center wavelength is varied linearly according to its operating temperature, however, the reflectivity of a Bragg center wavelength was reduced over a limited high temperature. Accordingly, it is possible to obtain the stability of a tunable all-optical FBG filter within
, but it is difficult to tune a Bragg center wavelength over this temperature.
2500V IGBTs with Low on Resistance and Faster Switching Characteristic

This paper presents a new Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor(IGBT) based on Non Punch Through(NPT) IGBT structure for power switching device. The proposed structure has adding N+ beside the P-base region of the conventional IGBT structure. The added n+ diffusion of the proposed device ensure device has faster turn-off time and lower forward conduction loss than the conventional IGBT structure. But, added n+ region can reduce th breakdown voltage and latching current density of the proposed device due to its high doping concentration. This problems can be overcome by using diverter on the right side of the device. In the simulation results, turn-off time of the proposed device is 0.3us and the on-state voltage drop is 3V. The results show that the proposed device has superior characteristic than conventional structure.
Design of a Variable-Length Instruction based on a OpenGL ES 2.0 API

The Khronos group releases OpenGL ES 2.0 API specification bringing streamlined shader programming to graphics processor of embedded system. For this reason, the mobile devices have need of graphics processor for supporting a OpenGL ES 2.0 API. We need to extend instruction`s length to support OpenGLES 2.0 API, so it needs more memory size. In this paper, we propose a new instruction format that offers availability for use the instructions. This proposed instruction adopt a variable length method and unit instruction architecture. This proposed instruction architecture that support to OpenGLES 2.0 API has consist of 32bit unit instructions up to 4 which can be combined for embellishing each other. Therefore, it can execute flexible instruction combination and reduce waste of instruction fields.
A Design of 2D Vector Graphics Accelerator with a Modified Scan-line Edge flag Algorithms including Clipping and Super Sampling

Vector Graphics describes an image with mathematical statements instead of pixel information. Which enables easy scalability without loss in image quality and usually results in a much smaller file size compared with bitmap images. In this paper, we propose Vector Graphics Accelerator for mobile device with scan-line edge flag algorithm to render vector image without sorting process of edge. Proposed Vector Graphics Accelerator was verified with OpenVG 2D Vector image. The estimated processing time of proposed Accelerator with Tiger image is 12ms on Tessellation process, and total rendering time is 208ms. Estimated rendering performance with Tiger image is about 5 frame per second
