Lee, Woo-Ram ; Son, Sang-Hee ; Chung, Won-Sup ;
Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 1~8
In this paper, Green Mode Power IC is designed to reduce the standby power. The proposed and designed IC works for the Switch Mode Power Supply(SMPS) and has the function of PWM. To reduce the unnecessary electric power, burst mode and skip mode section are introduced and controlled by external power MOSFET to diminish the standby power. The proposed IC is designed and simulated by KEC 30V-High Voltage 0.5um CMOS Process. The structure of proposed IC is composed of voltage regulator circuit, voltage reference circuit, UVLO(Under Voltage Lock out) circuit, Ibias circuit, green circuit, PWM circuit, OSC circuit, protection circuit, control circuit, and level & driver circuit. Measuring the current consumption of each block from the simulation results, 1.2942 mA of the summing consumption current from each block is calculated and ot proved that it is within the our design target of 1.3 mA. The current consumption of the proposed IC in this paper is less than a half of conventional ICs, and power consumption is reduced to the extent of 1W in standby mode. From the above results, we know that efficiency of proposed IC is superior to the previous IC.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 9~15
In this study, we have been proposed the new type of a transcranial magnetic stimulation adopted a variable voltage capacitor with Cockcroft-Walton circuit and constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter. This a transcranial magnetic stimulation has some merits compared with the conventional one. First, it doesn't require the high voltage transformer. And second, it has less switching losses, compact size and capability in adjusting the transcranial magnetic stimulation output energy precisely. In this paper, we have performed the output characteristics of a transcranial magnetic stimulation system which is well known as magnetic stimulation. The tested results are described as a function of pulse repetition rate and switching numbers of the half-bridge inverter.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 16~23
Since the interest of a brain science research is increased recently, various devices using brain waves have been developed in the field of brain training game, education application and brain computer interface. In this paper, we have developed a portable EEG measurement and a bluetooth based wireless transmission device measuring brain waves from the frontal lob simply and conveniently. The low brain signals about 10~100
was amplified into several volts and low pass, high pass and notch filter were designed for eliminating unwanted noise and 60Hz power noise. Also, PIC24F192 microcontroller has been used to convert analog brain signal into digital signal and transmit the signal into personal computer wirelessly. The sampling rate of 1KHz and bluetooth based wireless transmission with 38,400bps were used. The LabVIEW programing was used to receive and monitor the brain signals. The power spectrum of commercial biopac MP100 and that of a developed EEG system was compared for performance verification after the simulation signals of sine waves of
, 0~200Hz was inputed and processed by FFT transformation. As a result of comparison, the developed system showed good performance because frequency response of a developed system was similar to that of a commercial biopac MP100 inside the range of 30Hz specially.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 24~32
Slotted-ALOHA and Binary-tree method are researched for the anti-collision for RFID system. However, it is required of the rapid recognition time for all tags and the reduction of the system complexity. In this paper. the hybrid anti-collision method is proposed to solve the problems. The RFID reader with the hybrid anti-collision method groups the tags with the number which makes the maximum system throughput, then it reads each group by slotted-ALOHA method. By the computer simulation results, it is found that the hybrid method improves the tag identification time and the system throughput together with the comparison to other anti-collision methods. Therefore, the proposed hybrid anti-collision method will enhance the RFID system performance.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 41~50
TETRA is the standard of Digital Trunked Radio System suggested by the ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institut ). It is adopted as Electric Power IT Wireless Backbone Network in Korea. Police station and Fire Station are using TETRA network. Currently, Power Automation Protocols are DNP3.0 in Distribution Automation System, DLMS in Auto Metering Infrastructure, IEC61850 in Substation Automation. These protocols are transmissions using CDMA or WCDMA modem. If Power Automation protocol uses TETRA networks, it can be interoperable with the systems in police or fire stations. And it has outstanding ability to handle problems in a disaster situation. So, This paper propose a gateway system of Power Automation which can transmit the power automation protocol using TETRA.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 51~57
A CMOS rail-to-rail high voltage buffer amplifier is proposed to drive the gamma correction reference voltage of large TFT LCD panels. It is operating by a single supply and only shows current consumption of 0.5mA at 18V power supply voltage. The circuit is designed to drive the gamma correction voltage of 8-bit or 10-bit high resolution TFT LCD panels. The buffer has high slew rate, 0.5mA static current and 1k
resistive and capacitive load driving capability. Also, it offers wide supply range, offset voltages below 50mV at 5mA constant output current, and below 2.5mV input referred offset voltage. To achieve wide-swing input and output dynamic range, current mirrored n-channel differential amplifier, p-channel differential amplifier, a class-AB push-pull output stage and a input level detector using hysteresis comparator are applied. The proposed circuit is realized in a high voltage 0.18um 18V CMOS process technology for display driver IC. The circuit operates at supply voltages from 8V to 18V.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 14, issue 2, 2010, Pages 82~89
In this paper, a buck-boost converter using three DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold Voltage MOSFET) switching devices is presented. The efficiency of the proposed converter is higher than that of conventional buck-boost converter. DTMOS with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The threshold voltage of DTMOS drops as the gate voltage increases, resulting in a much higher current handling capability than standard MOSFET. In order to improve the power efficiency at the high current level, the proposed converter is controlled with PWM(pulse width modulation) method. The converter has maximum output current 300mA, input voltage 3.3V, output voltage from 700mV to 12V, 1.2MHz oscillation frequency, and maximum efficiency 90%. Moreover, the LDO(low drop-out) is designed to increase the converting efficiency at the standby mode below 1mA.
