Park, Seong-Gyoon ;
Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 1~9
Cable leakage criterion of technical regulations on CATV transmission system was reinforced considering interference against CDMA mobile communication system in 2007. The criterion is
/m(at 10m) over 824~849MHz. But generally it is difficult for us to decide if a given CATV transmission facilities conform to it or not through simple measurement methods. In this paper, the problems on measuring cable leakage is identified theoretically and the measuring model with spectrum analyzer, LNA, and antenna is proposed to settle the problems. Also, the model is proved to be useful by practically measuring outdoors and analysing the results and the process to decide to fit to the criterion or not is established.
An Efficient Hardware Architecture of Coordinate Transformation for Panorama Unrolling of Catadioptric Omnidirectional Images
Lee, Seung-Ho ;
Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 10~14
In this paper, we present an efficient hardware architecture of unrolling image mapper of catadioptric omnidirectional imaging systems. The catadioptric omnidirectional imaging systems generate images of 360 degrees of view and need to be transformed into panorama images in rectangular coordinate. In most application, it has to perform the panorama unrolling in real-time and at low-cost, especially for high-resolution images. The proposed hardware architecture adopts a software/hardware cooperative structure and employs several optimization schemes using look-up-table(LUT) of coordinate conversion. To avoid the on-line division operation caused by the coordinate transformation algorithm, the proposed architecture has the LUT which has pre-computed division factors. And then, the amount of memory used by the LUT is reduced to 1/4 by using symmetrical characteristic compared with the conventional architecture. Experimental results show that the proposed hardware architecture achieves an effective real-time performance and lower implementation cost, and it can be applied to other kinds of catadioptric omnidirectional imaging systems.

In the first development phase (basis type) of the Korean joint tactical data link system (JTDLS-K), essential tactical information and recognized situation are owned among platforms in common by using existing wireless terminals. In the second development phase (completion type) of the JTDLS-K, a JTDLS which can perform network centric warfare (NCW) will be developed in due consideration of technology development of the basis type and common technology maturity degree. This is a joint battlefield system that can show fighting power simultaneous and polysynthetically through providing command and control messages effectively to each platform, which is participating in the joint and combined operations. In this paper, the development of JTDLS-K with a common data processor based on common link integration processing (CLIP) is described. From the test results of the system presented in this paper, it is demonstrated that quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) signals can be applied to the system.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 29~36
Dithering scheme has been widely used to improve the resolution of DCO(Digitally Controlled Oscillator) in conventional ADPLLs(All Digital Phase Locked Loop). In this paper a new resolution improvement scheme is proposed where a simple DAC is employed to overcome the problems of dithering scheme. A 2.4GHz LC-based DCO has been designed in a
CMOS process with an enhanced frequency resolution for wireless local area network applications. It has a frequency tuning range of 900MHz and a resolution of 58.8Hz. The frequencies are controled by varactors in coarse, fine, and DAC bank. The DAC bank consists of an inversion mode NMOS varactor. The other varactor banks consist of PMOS varactors. Each varactor bank is controlled by 8bit digital signal. The designed DCO exhibits a phase noise of -123.8dBc/Hz at 1MHz frequency offset. The DCO core consumes 4.2mA from 1.2V supply.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 43~48
Decision problem called an optimal release policies, after testing a software system in development phase and transfer it to the user, is studied. The infinite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process models presented and propose an optimal release policies of the life distribution applied extreme distribution which used to find the minimum (or the maximum) of a number of samples of various distributions. In this paper, discuss optimal software release policies which minimize a total average software cost of development and maintenance under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement. In a numerical example, extreme value distribution as another alternative of existing the Poisson execution time model and the log power model can be verified using inter-failure time data.

Yun, Gi-Ho ;
Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 49~56
In this paper, a compact doppler sensor with oscillator type active antenna operating at 2.4GHz frequency band is proposed to measure the distance or speed of a moving object. The active antenna has been realized by oscillator using radiator, patch antenna, as its resonator. The oscillation frequency is shifted depending on approaching of the object, and a detection circuit discriminates the frequency deviation. The oscillator type active antenna has been designed and simulated. The prototype fabricated has a very small circular disk type of diameter 30mm and height 4.2mm. As for antenna performance, broadside radiation pattern with beamwidth of
and oscillation frequency of 2.373GHz has been measured. Test results as a doppler sensor shows that doppler signal voltage of about 190mV has been obtained for conducting plate moving 1 meter away from the sensor. And, doppler signal voltage has been linearly increased to the ground from 4.5m height by free-falling the sensor.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 57~63
This paper presents a tunable band pass filter (BPF) for multi bio-signal detection. The bandwidth can be controlled by the bias current of transconductance (gm), while conventional BPF exploited switchable capacitor array for band selection. With this design technique, the die area of proposed BPF reduced to at least one tenth the area of conventional design. The simulation results show the high cut-off frequency tuning range of from 100Hz to 1Khz. The circuit was implemented with a 0.18um CMOS standard technology. Total current consumption is 1uA at the supply voltage of 1V with sub-threshold design technique.

Ko, Kyun-Byoung ; Seo, Jeong-Tae ;
Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 64~69
In this paper, a semi-analytical approach is proposed for decode-and-forward(DF) relay systems over rayleigh fading channels. At first, we derive the general form of the averaged bit error rate(BER) based on error-events at relay nodes in which a selection scheme is not used. It is confirmed that an erroneous detection and transmission at relay nodes can cause the degradation of the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the averaged BER performance. Furthermore, the proposed method can be extended to selective-DF(SDF) relay schemes so that it is verified to be another general solution for DF relay systems. Also, proposed semi-analytical expressions have been verified by comparing with simulations.

Journal of IKEEE, volume 15, issue 1, 2011, Pages 104~112
During the ground operation of Korean army, the voice message is mainly used for exchanging informations related to the surveillance and reconnaissance, command and control, and precision strike. However, in order to the battlefield visualization among fighting powers participating in the ground force operation, automatic situational awareness and variable message format (VMF) for command and control are required. For securing core technologies necessary for the battlefield visualization, message standard and message handler are established through several applied researches. Besides, the VMF for equipping a weapon system is in development. In this paper, a study on the Korean variable message format (KVMF), where interoperability of integrated battle management system (BMS) is guaranteed due to performing joint, ground, and combined operations so that the situation awareness and strike system can be automated in almost real time, is presented. From the modeling and simulation (M&S) results of the message processor, delay time is varied in accordance with the number of nodes in unit platoon network, message length, and generation interval of routine messages. Therefore, it is shown that the system performance can be optimized by establishing proper network protocol for each situation.
