Compact Planar Array Antenna of a Vehicle Navigator for 5.8GHz DSRC scheme

In this paper, microstrip array antenna is proposed for the wireless communication of DSRC(dedicated short range communication) scheme at 5.8GHz, which works as a part of the Navigation terminal. The microstrip patches minimized from a rectangular microstrip antenna with a half wavelength are arrayed to be mounted on the narrow and long area in the top side of the navigation terminal. Besides, the array antenna can limit its own beamwidth to the driving lane and has better directivity. It is simulated to verify the validity of the proposed application. Echo Cancellation in Relay Systems

We propose a new relay system which use echo cancellation in relay station. In the proposed relay system, a half of time resource is required to transmit a symbol compared to conventional relay system. We show the echo cancellation method and frame structure of the proposed system. Simulation result shows that the proposed system has twice capacity than that of the conventional system.
Comparison of Mobility Management methods Handover based and Non-Handover based

In this paper, we analyze the effect of mobility management method to the data rate of moving users when pico-cell which uses the same frequency bandwidth as that of macro-cell is overlaid over macro-cell. From this analysis, we show that the data rate which is available to the moving user depends on the method of mobility management and relative location of the overlaid pico-cell over macro-cell in the network.
An Energy-Efficient Asynchronous Sensor MAC Protocol Design for Wireless Sensor Networks

Synchronization MAC Protocol such as S-MAC and T-MAC utilize duty cycling technique which peroidically operate wake-up and sleep state for reducing energy consumption. But synchronization MAC showed low energy efficiency because of additional control packets. For better energy consumption, Asychronization MAC protocols are suggested. For example, B-MAC, and X-MAC protocol adopt Low Power Listening (LPL) technique with CSMA algorithm. All nodes in these protocols joining a network with independent duty cycle schedules without additional synchronization control packets. For this reason, asynchronous MAC protocol improve energy efficiency. In this study, a low-power MAC protocol which is based on X-MAC protocol for wireless sensor network is proposed for better energy efficiency. For this protocol, we suggest preamble numbering, and virtual-synchronization technique between sender and receive node. Using TelosB mote for evaluate energy efficiency.
Hierarchical Grouping of Line Segments for Building Model Generation

A novel approach for the reconstruction of 3D building model from aerial image data is proposed in this paper. In this approach, a Centroid Neural Network (CNN) with a metric of line segments is proposed for connecting low-level linear structures. After the straight lines are extracted from an edge image using the CNN, rectangular boundaries are then found by using an edge-based grouping approach. In order to avoid producing unrealistic building models from grouping lined segments, a hierarchical grouping method is proposed in this paper. The proposed hierarchical grouping method is evaluated with a set of aerial image data in the experiment. The results show that the proposed method can be successfully applied for the reconstruction of 3D building model from satellite images.
Optimization of Power Bumps and TSVs with Optimized Power Mesh Structure for Power Delivery Network in 3D-ICs

3-dimensional integrated circuits (3D-ICs) have some problems for power delivery network design due to larger supply currents and larger power delivery paths compared to 2D-IC. The power delivery network consists of power bumps & through-silicon-vias (TSVs), and IR-drop at each node varies with the number and location of power bumps & TSVs. It is important to optimize the power bumps & TSVs while IR-drop constraint is satisfied in order to operate chip ordinarily. In this paper, the power bumps & TSVs optimization with optimized power mesh structure for power delivery network in 3D-ICs is proposed.
A Control System for Attenuating Voltage-Dip and Inrush Current Caused by Starting of Inductive Load Nnetwork

We propose a control system consisted of TRIAC PWM module and sequential start control system attenuating voltage-dip and inrush current caused by starting of inductive load network. To minimize the high voltage-dip and inrush current induced from a large capacity inductive load, we developed a TRIAC PWM module. And we also developed a sequential start control system preventing simultaneous starting of the inductive loads within a same power network. According to the experimental results with the proposed control system, the voltage-dip and inrush current could be effectively attenuated such that they can meet the related international standards and resolve the issues associated with simultaneous starting of multiple inductive loads. By employing this system, power cost usually implemented by the estimation of peak power consumption can be reduced and the power quality of a power distribution system connected to the inductive load network can be stabilized efficiently.
High Performance 50 nm Metamorphic HEMTs for Millimeter-wave Applications

We reported on a high performance InGaAs/InAlAs metamorphic HEMT with 50 nm gate length on a GaAs substrate. The fabricated
MHEMT showed good DC and RF characteristics. Typical drain current density of 740 mA/mm and extrinsic transconductance(gm) of 1.02 S/mm were obtained with our devices. The current gain cut-off frequency(fT) and maximum oscillation frequency(fmax) obtained for the fabricated MHEMT device were 430 GHz and 406 GHz, respectively.
A Design of Push-push Voltage Controlled Oscillator using Frequency Tuning Circuit with Single Transmission Line

In this paper, a push-push VCDRO (Voltage Controlled Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) with a modified frequency tuning structure is investigated. The push-push VCDRO designed at 16GHz is manufactured using a LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) technology to reduce the circuit size. The frequency tuning structure is embedded in intermediate layer of A6 substrate by an advantage of LTCC process. Experimental results show that the fundamental frequency suppression is above 30dBc, the frequency tuning range is 0.43MHz over control voltage of 0 to 12V, and phase noise of push-push VCDRO presents a good performance of -103dBc/Hz at 100KHz offset frequency from carrier.
Single Balanced Monolithic Diode Mixer using Marchand Balun for Millimeter-wave Applications

In this paper, we reported on a single balanced monolithic diode mixer using Marchand balun for millimeter-wave applications. The single balanced monolithic mixer was fabricated using drain-source-connected pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (PHEMT) diodes considering the PHEMT MMIC full process. The average conversion loss is 16 dB in the RF frequency range of 81~86 GHz at LO frequency of 75 GHz with LO power of 10 dBm. A Study on New DCM-ZVS DC-DC Converter

This paper is study on a new high efficiency DC-DC converter of discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) with zero voltage switching (ZVS). The converters of high efficiency are generally made that the power loss of the used semiconductor switching devices is minimized. The proposed converter is accomplished that the turn-on operation of switches is on zero current switching (ZCS) by DCM. The converter is also applicable to a new quasi-resonant circuit to achieve high efficiency converter. The control switches using in the converter are operated with soft switching, that is, ZVS and ZCS by quasi-resonant method. The control switches are operated without increasing their voltage and current stresses by the soft switching technology. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of the converter is high. The soft switching operation and the system efficiency of the proposed DCM-ZVS converter are verified by digital simulation and experimental results.
Semi-Analytical Averaged Error Rate Evaluation for DSF-Relay MC-CDMA systems over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels

In this paper, a semi-analytical approach is proposed for DSF(Decode and Selective Forward)-Relay MC-CDMA(MultiCarrier-Code Division Multiple Access) systems over multipath Rayleigh fading channels. Considering BER(bit error rate) performance and complexity, the MMSE-C(Minimum Mean squared Error-per subCarrier) is used as the combining method for MC-CDMA systems. At first, the analytical method based on error-events at relay nodes for DSF-Relay schemes is utilized in order to derive the averaged BER. Then, the averaged BER is expressed as the form considering possible all error-events. Also, proposed semi-analytical expressions have been verified by comparing with simulation results. Finally, it is verified that the derived analytical expressions can be a frame work to cover different multipath Rayleigh fading channel conditions and to measure the upper performance for DSF-Relay MC-CDMA systems.
A Study of Software Hazard Analysis for Safety Critical Function in Military Aircraft

This paper is the Software Hazard Analysis (SWHA) which will study the managerial process and the technical methode and techniques inherent in the performance of software safety task within the Military Aircraft System Safety program. This SWHA identifies potential hazardous effects on the software intensive systems and provides a comprehensive and qualitative assessment of the software safety. The purpose of this paper is to identify safety critical functions of software in Military A/C. The identified software hazards associated with the design or function will be evaluated for risks and operational constraint to further improve the software design requirement, analysis and testing efforts for safety critical software. This common SWHA, the first time analysis in KOREA, was review all avionics OFP(Operational Flight Program), and focus only on software segments which are safety critical. This paper provides a important understanding between the customer and developer as to how the software safety for the Military A/C will be accomplished. It will also provide the current best solution which may as one consider the necessary step in establishing a credible and cost-effective software safety program.
A New Diversity Combining Scheme Based on Interleaving Method for Time-of-arrival Estimation of Chirp Signal

A new diversity combining scheme is proposed for time-of-arrival (TOA) estimation of chirp signal in dense multipath channel. In the multipath channel, the performance of TOA estimation using conventional correlation matrix-based diversity combining scheme is degraded due to the lack of de-correlation effect. To increase the de-correlation effect, the proposed diversity scheme employs interleaving method based on the property of de-chirped signal. As a result, the proposed scheme increases de-correlation effect and also reduces the noise of TOA estimation. Finally, the diversity achieved from the proposed scheme improves TOA estimation performance. The de-correlation effect is analyzed mathematically. The estimation accuracy of the proposed diversity scheme is superior to that of conventional diversity scheme in multipath channel.
