Data Monitoring System for Activation Analysis Based on Fuel Heater of Diesel Cars

In this paper, we have developed a data monitoring system for activation analysis based on fuel heater of diesel cars. The light oil of diesel engine below a constant temperature be changed to the waxing materials of a semisolid status like a paraffin, and then it may not start. In order to evaluate an engine activation performance, we suggest an engine start time with an change between an extremely low temperature and high temperature, a delay time goes with heater resistor and current and pressure. So, we have developed sensor module system that can obtain the operational status data between fuel line and fuel heater, and evaluate the performance of fuel heater through monitoring of a temperature and pressure. Finally, we can gather the temperature and pressure data of this system with mobile terminal, remotely and propose an utility of this system that can find problems of fuel heater through measured data.

In this paper, we have implemented the low temperature fluidity test system with the composited package fuel heater, which has tested the low temperature fluidity and start time to evaluate the performance. Then we have compared the separation and the unified fuel heater type at
. Also, we have tested the flowing pressure and start time, power consumption of heater. By comparing the performance with several condition, the experimental results obtain an improved start time of 23% and low temperature fluidity of 19%.

Design of Low-area Encryption Circuit Based on AES-128 Suitable for Tiny Applications

As the development of information technology, the interests in tiny applications such as wearable devices, portable devices and RFID are increased and the importance of low-area encryption circuit is emphasized. This paper proposes a compact architecture of AES-based encryption circuit suitable for tiny applications. The circuit area is reduced by minimizing storage space and sharing computation resources. The synthesized gate-level circuit using 65nm standard cell library consists of 2,241 gates and two
-bit SRAMs. It can process data at a rate of 50.57Mbits per second. Therefore, the proposed encryption circuit is suitable for various applications requiring very small encryption circuit.
A New Robust Output Feedback Variable Structure Controller for Uncertain More Affine Nonlinear Systems with Mismatched Uncertainties and Matched Disturbance

In this note, a new robust nonlinear output feedback variable structure controller is first systematically and generally designed for the output control of more affine uncertain nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. A transformed integral output feedback sliding surface with a most simple form is applied in order to remove the reaching phase problems. The closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the integral output feedback sliding surface is investigated with a corresponding output feedback control input in Theorem 1. For practical application the continuous implementation of the control input is made by the modified saturation function. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified through a design example and simulation study.
A Study of SiC Trench Schottky Diode with Tilt-Implantation for Edge Termination

In this paper, the usage of tilt-implanted trench Schottky diode(TITSD) based on silicon carbide is proposed. A tilt-implanted trench termination technique modified for SiC is proposed as a method to keep all the potentials confined in the trench insulator when reverse blocking mode is operated. With the side wall doping concentration of
nitrogen, the termination area of the TITSD is reduced without any sacrifice in breakdown voltage while potential is confined within insulator. When the trench depth is set to 11um and the width is optimized, a breakdown voltage of 2750V is obtained and termination area is 38.7% smaller than that of other devices which use guard rings for the same breakdown voltage. A Sentaurus device simulator is used to analyze the characteristics of the TITSD. The performance of the TITSD is compared to the conventional trench Schottky diode.
Design of Single-Inductor Dual-Output Boost-Boost DC-DC Converter with Dual Feedback Loop Based on Relative Sawtooth Generator

This paper presents a control method of Single-Inductor Dual-Output DC-DC Converter using Common mode feedback and differential feedback loops. To generate duty used for differential mode feedback loop, this paper propose relative sawtooth circuit using current divider circuit which makes ramp signal with variable dead-time. Two outputs of the Single-Inductor Dual-Output DC-DC Converter are specified for 2.8 V and 4.2 V with input voltage 2.5 V. The maximum conversion efficiency of designed SIDO DC-DC Converter is 95% at total output power of 539mW. Cross regulations of Boost1 and Boost2 are 3.57% and 4% each, when increasing twice times output current.
CMOS-Memristor Hybrid 4-bit Multiplier Circuit for Energy-Efficient Computing

In this paper, we propose a CMOS-memristor hybrid circuit that can perform 4-bit multiplication for future energy-efficient computing in nano-scale digital systems. The proposed CMOS-memristor hybrid circuit is based on the parallel architecture with AND and OR planes. This parallel architecture can be very useful in improving the power-delay product of the proposed circuit compared to the conventional CMOS array multiplier. Particularly, from the SPECTRE simulation of the proposed hybrid circuit with 0.13-mm CMOS devices and memristors, this proposed multiplier is estimated to have better power-delay product by 48% compared to the conventional CMOS array multiplier. Automatic Detection Method for Mura Defects on Display Films Using Morphological Image Processing and Labeling

This paper proposes a new automatic detection method to inspect mura defects on display film surface using morphological image processing and labeling. This automatic detection method for mura defects on display films comprises 3 phases of preprocessing with morphological image processing, Gabor filtering, and labeling. Since distorted results could be obtained with the presence of non-uniform illumination, preprocessing step reduces illumination components using morphological image processing. In Gabor filtering, mura images are created with binary coded mura components using Gabor filters. Subsequently, labeling is a final phase of finding the mura defect area using the difference between large mura defects and values in the periphery. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed detection method, detection rate was assessed by applying the method in 200 display film samples. As a result, the detection rate was high at about 95.5%. Moreover, the study was able to acquire reliable results using the Semu index for luminance mura in image quality inspection.
A Frequency Domain Analysis of Corneal Deformation by Air Puff

Intraocular pressure is measured after a cornea air puff by observing biomechanical properties such as thickness or displacement of the cornea. In this paper, we deal with a frequency domain analysis of corneal deformation in the air puff tonometry that is used to diagnose glaucoma or lasik. We distinguish the patient from the normal by measuring the oscillation frequency in the neighborhood of the central cornea section. A binary image was obtained from the video images, and cornea vertical oscillation profile was extracted from the difference between the vertical displacement data and the curve fitting. In terms of Fourier transform, a vibration frequency of 479.2Hz for the patient was obtained as well as more higher 702.8Hz for the normal due to stiffness. Hilbert-Huang transform's empirical mode decomposition generally describes local, nonlinear, and nonstationary data. After the data were decomposed into intrinsic mode functions, a spectrum and power were analysed. Finally, we confirm that the patient has 6 times more higher power ratio for the specific intrinsic mode function between the patient and the normal.
A Non-Incremental Hierarchical Conference Organization Using Shortest Distance Terminal

The hierarchical conference causes the data delay because the exchanged data between terminals in the conference go through the hierarchical structure. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which minimizes the average path distance between terminals in a non-incremental hierarchical conference, and which considers the computing resource. For terminals which want to join the ongoing hierarchical conference, our algorithm selects terminals that the new connection is possible among terminals in the conference with the computing resource consideration. Then, after all distance values between the selected terminals and terminals which want to join the ongoing hierarchical conference are computed, and the terminal-pair which have minimum distance value is selected, the ongoing hierarchical conference is extended with a connection of the terminal-pair which consists of a terminal among selected terminals and other terminal among terminals which want to join the ongoing hierarchical conference. This continues until all terminals are included in the conference. As the experimental results with the proposed non-incremental scheme, the hierarchical conference can be organized with 24% better performance than the earlier incremental scheme on the basis of average path distance between terminals.
Proofs of Utkin's Theorem for MIMO Uncertain Integral Linear Systems

The uncertain integral linear system is the integral-augmented uncertain system to improve the resultant performance. In this note, for a MI(Multi Input) uncertain integral linear case, Utkin's theorem is proved clearly and comparatively. With respect to the two transformations(diagonalizations), the equation of the sliding mode is invariant. By using the results of this note, in the SMC for MIMO uncertain integral linear systems, the existence condition of the sliding mode on the predetermined sliding surface is easily proved. The effectiveness of the main results is verified through an illustrative example and simulation study.
Second-order Sigma-Delta Modulator for Mobile BMIC Applications

This paper presents design of the second-order sigma-delta modulator for converting voltage and temperature signals to digital ones in Battery Management IC (BMIC) for mobile applications. The second-order single-loop switched-capacitor sigma-delta modulator with 1-bit quantization in 0.13-um CMOS technology is proposed. The proposed modulator is designed using switched-opamp technique for saving power consumption. With an oversampling ratio of 256 and clock frequency of 256kHz, the modulator achieves a measured 83-dB dynamic range and a peak signal-to-(noise+distortion) ratio (SNDR) of 81.7dB. Image Reconstruction Using Iterative Regularization Scheme Based on Residual Error in Electrical Impedance Tomography

In electrical impedance tomography (EIT), modified Newton Raphson (mNR) method is widely used inverse algorithm for static image reconstruction due to its convergence speed and estimation accuracy. The unknown conductivity distribution is estimated iteratively by minimizing a cost functional such that the residual error namely the difference in measured and calculated voltages is reduced. Although, mNR method has good estimation performance, EIT inverse problem still suffers from ill-conditioned and ill-posedness nature. To mitigate the ill-posedness, generally, regularization methods are adopted. The inverse solution is highly dependent on the choice of regularization parameter. In most cases, the regularization parameter has a constant value and is chosen based on experience or trail and error approach. In situations, when the internal distribution changes or with high measurement noise, the solution does not get converged with the use of constant regularization parameter. Therefore, in this paper, in order to improve the image reconstruction performance, we propose a new scheme to determine the regularization parameter. The regularization parameter is computed based on residual error and updated every iteration. The proposed scheme is tested with numerical simulations and laboratory phantom experiments. The results show an improved reconstruction performance when using the proposed regularization scheme as compared to constant regularization scheme.
Design of Embedded Electrical Power Control Unit for Personal Electrical Vehicle

This paper presents the design of embedded electrical power control unit for Personal Electrical Vehicle(PEV). The embedded unit is designed using PIC18F8720 processor, 16Mb flash ROM, 32Mb SDRAM and signal condition circuits. The proposed PEV consists of 4KW in-wheel Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM), 3 phase voltage source inverter with the
conduction space vector PWM method, PID speed controller and the embedded control unit. The PEV has mechanical manufacture of inverse 3 wheel system, which is applied by the in-wheel BLDCM and steering mechanism with tilting function. Also, the performances of the proposed embedded electrical power control unit are verified through the lab experiment and road driving test of PEV.
Hand Language Translation Using Kinect

Since hand gesture recognition was realized thanks to improved image processing algorithms, sign language translation has been a critical issue for the hearing-impaired. In this paper, we extract human hand figures from a real time image stream and detect gestures in order to figure out which kind of hand language it means. We used depth-color calibrated image from the Kinect to extract human hands and made a decision tree in order to recognize the hand gesture. The decision tree contains information such as number of fingers, contours, and the hand's position inside a uniform sized image. We succeeded in recognizing 'Hangul', the Korean alphabet, with a recognizing rate of 98.16%. The average execution time per letter of the system was about 76.5msec, a reasonable speed considering hand language translation is based on almost still images. We expect that this research will help communication between the hearing-impaired and other people who don't know hand language.
