Estimation of Equilibrium Sense using Fuzzy Theory

In this paper, we interpreted and evaluated the relation between the sensation of equilibrium and biomedical signal automatically by applying the fuzzy theory. We induced the vertigo by using the caloric test, and presented the correlation between vertigo and biomedical signal by using the quantification method. We objectively analyzed the organic relation of the biomedical signal by fuzzy rule design using the table-lookup scheme and obtained good result in recognizing the level of the sensation of equilibrium.
Low-Power CMOS On-Chip Voltage Reference Circuits

In this paper, two schemes of generating reference voltages using enhancement-mode MOS transistors and resistors are proposed. The first one is a voltage-mode scheme where the temperature compensation is made by summing a voltage component proportional to a threshold voltage and a voltage component proportional to a thermal voltage. In the second one, that is a current-mode scheme, the temperature compensation is made by summing a current component proportional to a threshold voltage and a current component proportional to a thermal voltage. Input conductance of neuron for Hopfield Neural Networks

This paper discusses the influence of the input conductance on system stability for the continuous type Hopfield Neural Networks.. The input conductance is connected from the neuron input to ground. The input conductance has been proved to effect on stability in input space. Transient analysis is used to test the stability in input space. Also, it has been studied how to adjust the input conductance for improving the system's performance.
Design of 1.9GHz CMOS RF Up-conversion Mixer

Utilizing the circuit simulator SPICE, we designed a 1.9GHz CMOS up-conversion mixer and explained in detail the simulation procedures including device modeling for the circuit design. Since the measured characteristics of the chip fabricated using the
standard CMOS process had shown a big deviation from the characteristics expected by the original simulations, we tried to figure out the proper reasons for the discrepancies. Simulations considering the discovered problems in the original simulations have shown the validity of the simulation method tried for the design. We have shown that the utilized standard CMOS process can be used for the implementation of the chip characteristics similar to those of the equivalent chip fabricated using the GaAs MESFET process.
Pipelined Parallel Processing System for Image Processing

In this paper, a parallel processing system is proposed for improving the processing speed of image related applications. The proposed parallel processing system is fully synchronous SIMD computer with pipelined architecture and consists of processing elements and a multi-access memory system. The multi-access memory system is made up of memory modules and a memory controller, which consists of memory module selection module, data routing module, and address calculating and routing module, to perform parallel memory accesses with the variety of types: block, horizontal, and vertical access way. Morphological filter had been applied to verify the parallel processing system and resulted in faithful processing speed.
The Analysis and Compensation of Dead Time Effects in a Vector-Controlled Induction Machine

Dead time which is inserted in PWM signals of VSI distorts the inverter output voltage waveforms and deteriorate the control performance of an induction machine by producing torque ripples. In this paper, dead time compensation method in a vector controlled induction machine is proposed. The method is based on a feedforward approach that compensates dead time effect by adding the compensating voltages to the inverter output voltage references in 2 phase stationary frame. The proposed method is only software intensive and easy to realize without additional hardware. The experimental results show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.
Industrial load forecasting using the fuzzy clustering and wavelet transform analysis

This paper presents fuzzy clustering and wavelet transform analysis based technique for the industrial hourly load forecasting fur the purpose of peak demand control. Firstly, one year of historical load data were sorted and clustered into several groups using fuzzy clustering and then wavelet transform is adopted using the Biorthogonal mother wavelet in order to forecast the peak load of one hour ahead. The 5-level decomposition of the daily industrial load curve is implemented to consider the weather sensitive component of loads effectively. The wavelet coefficients associated with certain frequency and time localization is adjusted using the conventional multiple regression method and the components are reconstructed to predict the final loads through a five-scale synthesis technique. The outcome of the study clearly indicates that the proposed composite model of fuzzy clustering and wavelet transform approach can be used as an attractive and effective means for the industrial hourly peak load forecasting.
A Predistortion Linearizer which is composed of common-gate MESFET circuits

A linear power amplifier is particular emphasized on the CDMA system using a linear modulation scheme, because intermodulation distortion which cause adjacent channel interference and co channel interference is mostly generated in a nonlinear power amplifier. In this paper, a new type of linearization technique proposed. It is presented that balanced MESFET predistortion linearizer added. Experimental result are present for Korea PCS(Personal Communication Service) frequency band. The implemented linearizer is applied to a 30dBm class A power amplifier for simulation Performance. The predistortion linearizer improves the 1dB compression point of the HPA about 2dBm, and intermoudulation distortion about 12.5dBc.
Regularized Modified Newton-Raphson Algorithm for Electrical Impedance Tomography Based on the Exponentially Weighted Least Square Criterion

In EIT(electrical impedance tomography), the internal resistivity(or conductivity) distribution of the unknown object is estimated using the boundary voltage data induced by different current patterns using various reconstruction algorithms. In this paper, we present a regularized modified Newton-Raphson(mNR) scheme which employs additional a priori information in the cost functional as soft constraint and the weighting matrices in the cost functional are selected based on the exponentially weighted least square criterion. The computer simulation for the 32 channels synthetic data shows that the reconstruction performance of the proposed scheme is improved compared to that of the conventional regularized mNR at the expense of slightly increased computational burden.
Performance Analysis of SOVA by Robust Equalization, Techniques in Nongaussian Noise Channel

Turbo Code decoder is an iterate decoding technology, which extracts extrinsic information from the bit to be decoded by calculating both forward and backward metrics in each decoding step, and uses the information to the next decoding step. Viterbi decoder, which is for a convolutional code, runs continuous mode, while Turbo Code decoder runs by block unit. There are algorithms used in a decoder : which are MAP(maximum a posteriori) algorithm requiring very complicated calculation and SOVA(soft output Viterbi algorithm) using Viterbi algorithm suggested by Hagenauer, and it is known that the decoding performance of MAP is better. The result of this make experimentation shows that the performance of SOVA, which has half complex algorithm compare to MAP, is almost same as the performance of MAP when the SOVA decoding performance is supplemented with Robust equalization techniques.
A Frequency Model of OCXO for Holdover Mode of DP-PLL

A frequency model of an OCXO (Oven Controlled X-tal Oscillator) is suggested to implement a holdover algorithm in a DP-PLL (Digital Processing-Phase Locked Loop) system. This model is presented simply with second order polynomials with respect to temperature and aging of the OCXO. The model parameters are obtained from experimental data by applying the LSM (Least Squared Method). A holdover algorithm is also suggest using the frequency model. The obtained model is verified to simulate the holdover algorithm with experimental phase data due to variation of temperature.
Improved for Error Control Scheme in Wireless ATM

The fact that error probability is higher in wireless communication environment than the one in a fixed network makes it inappropriate to apply the same DLC (Data Link Control) protocol used in a wireline network to a wireless network. And since the existing DLC protocol for wireless network was optimized for low-rate data service, it is not suitable for a wireless network environment which should support high-speed and multimedia traffic. Therefore it is desperate to have a new DLC protocol for todays wireless mobile communication environment. In this paper, we propose an error control scheme in WATM (Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode) environment. which supportsmultiple traffic attributes, high-speed, multimedia data service. In this paper we modified the existing ASR ARQ (Adaptive Selective Repeat Automatic Repeat Request) protocol where cells exceeding maximum allowable delay range are discarded. And adding FEC (Forward Error Correction) for delay-sensitive traffic resulted in smaller increase of transmission delay.
A Novel Adaptive Routing Scheme for the QoS-Based Multimedia Services in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

A mobile ad-hoc network is composed of only mobile nodes, which are distributed dynamically, without any wired backbone or centralized entities. Since the existing works on ad-hoc routing protocol are mostly biased toward a military application, we need a new routing scheme for a support of multimedia services in mobile ad-hoc networks. Therefore, we propose a novel scheme that can support a variety of traffic attributes and can be applicable to high-speed and multimedia data services in mobile ad-hoc networks by using adaptive transmission power level. As a result of simulation, the proposed scheme has better performance than conventional method, which is performed with uniform transmission power level, in view of route query delay time.
A NEW DETAIL EXTRACTION TECHNIQUE FOR VIDEO SEQUENCE CODING USING MORPHOLOGICAL LAPLACIAN OPERATOR

In this paper, an efficient detail extraction technique for a progressive coding scheme is proposed. The existing technique using the top-hat transformation yields an efficient extraction scheme for isolated and visually important details, but yields an inefficient results containing significant redundancy extracting the contour information. The proposed technique using the strong edge feature extraction property of the morphological Laplacian in this paper can reduce the redundancy, and thus provides lower bit-rate. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is more efficient than the existing one, and promise the applicability of the morphological Laplacian operator.
