Step-size Updating in Variable Step-size LMS Algorithms using Variable Blocks

In this paper, we present a variable block method to reduce additive computational requirements in determining step-size of variable step-size LMS (VS-LMS) algorithms. The block length is inversely proportional to the changing of step-size in VS-LMS algorithm. The technique reduces computational requirements of the conventional VS-LMS algorithms without a degradation of performance in convergence rate and steady state error. And a method for deriving initial step-size, when the input is zero mean, white Gaussian sequence, is proposed. For demonstrating the good performances of the proposed method, simulation results are compared with the conventional variable step-size algorithms in convergence speed and computational requirements.
The analysis of the characteristics of the power BJT using numerical analysis method

An algorithm for analyzing the characteristics of the power BJT using numerical analysis method is proposed. The Fermi-Dirac statistics is used to calculate the carrier concentration in highly doped region. Philips Unified mobility model, SRH model and Auger model is used to calculate the recombination current of base region. To verify the accuracy of the proposed method, the collector current of BANDIS is compared with the measured data in the condition of the base current increased from
. The collector current of BANDIS show a maximum relative error within 8.9% compared with the measured data.
PID Autotuning Algorithm with an Asymmetric Self-oscillation

We use the saturation nonlinear feedback element to generate self-oscillation in order to find an ultimate gain and period of linear plant. The use of saturation nonlinear feedback element can improve accuracy of an ultimate gain and period of unknown linear plant. An ultimate gain and period of linear plant can be used to tune a PID controller parameters. It is possible that an asymmetric oscillation can be occurred under the special circumstances such as with static load disturbance. We analyze an asymmetric self-oscillation. As the results of an analysis, we propose a method to find an ultimate gain and period of linear Plant under the asymmetric self-oscillation.
A discretization method of the three dimensional heat flow equation with excellent convergence characteristics

The simulator for the analysis of the lattice temperature under the steady-state condition is developed. The heat flow equation using the Slotboom variables is discretized and the integration method of the thermal conductivity without using the numerical analysis method is presented. The simulations are executed on the
junction diode and BJT to verify the proposed method. The average relative error of the lattice temperature of
diode compared with DAVINCI is 2% when 1.4[V] forward bias is applied and the average relative error of the lattice temperature of BJT compared with MEDICI is 3% when 5.0[V] is applied to the collector contact and 0.5[V] is applied to the base contact. BANDIS using the proposed method of integration of thermal conductivity needs 3.45 times of matrix solution to solve one bias step and DAVINCI needs 5.1 times of matrix solution MEDICI needs 4.3 times of matrix solution.
Design of Real Time Complex Proportion Method Automatic Chlorine Input System using RTOS

This paper proposes a method that regulate a chlorine density to real time using RTOS. The most of a cleaning bed make use of the flux method to input chlorine. But, This method is difficult to control of chlorine's amount because Amount used of water is difference in each time or according to season. In this paper, we have designed a two method to flux and remain chlorine. Each task is programmed to cope with changeable external environment. The efficiency of the proposed system is shown by comparison results for performance of the proposal system with cleaning bed using a flux method.
Face Recognition System for Multimedia Application

This paper is the realization of the face recognition system for multimedia application. This system is focused on the design concerning the improvement of recognition rate and the reduction of processing time for face recognition. The non-modificated application of typical RGB color system enables the reduction of time required for color system transform. The neural network and the application of algorithm using face characteristic improves the recognition rate. After mosaicking an image, a face-color block has been selected through the color analysis of mosaic block. The characteristic of the face removes the mis-checked face-color candidate block. Finally, from the face color block, four special values are obtained. These values are processed to the neural network using the back propagation algorithm. The output values are the touchstone to decide the genuineness of face field. The realized system showed 90% of face recognition rate with less than 0.1 second of processing time. This result can be understood as sufficient processing time and recognition rate to find out the face block for multimedia application in dynamic image.
A Study on the Traffic Analysis of Optical Subscriber Network

Network of these days, A transmission medium of information is replaced from electric signal to optical signal to accept various and increased network traffic. In this paper, we develop simulation program using AweSim and simulate EPON system as a high-speed optical subscriber network with various conditions. The effects of number of ONUs, effects of network load and effects of slot assignment schemes have been evaluated. The simulation results show that slot assignment schemes and number of ONUs is major factor of network performance. The variable-number slot scheme is more efficient than fixed-length slot scheme in the traffic processing.
Feature Extraction for Iris Recognition Using Scale-Space Filtering

In this paper, we introduce a new technology to extract the unique features from an iris image, which uses scale-space filtering. Resulting iris code can be used to develop a system for rapid and automatic identification of persons, with high reliability and confidence levels. First, an iris part is separated from the whole image. Then the radius and center of the iris are obtained. Once the regions that have a high possibility of being noise are discriminated, the features presented in the highly detailed pattern is then extracted from the iris image. Scale-space filtering technique is applied for feature extraction.
