Study on the Numerical Method of Classifying Treeforms : A case study of Zelkova serrata, Pinus strobus, and Magnolia denudata

Predicting treeform should be very important, eventhough it is difficult, step for landscape designers. This study was carried out to develop a method to classify the treeforms of landscape plants by numerical data. Twenty five treeforms are selected to be compared with 41 Zelkova serrata MAKINO, 26 Pinus strobus L., and 44 Magnolia denudata DESROUX. Statistical judgement was made by using X
-Test. The results are summerized as follows. 1. Zelkova serrata was classified as B3 or C3. This species showed a tendency of changing from A type to B or C type, and the CL/CH ratio(canopy length/canopy height) is thought to be increased as aged. 2. pinus strobus was classified as D4-D5 and the CL/CH ratio tends to be increased as aged. 3. Magnolia denudata was classified as D4 and the change by aging was not observed clearly.
The Effect of Stem Leading Time and Angles on the Flowering in Climbing Rose

This study was to obtain effect of stem leading time and angles on the growing and flowering in climbing rose. The results were as follows : In the rambler type, climber type and pillar type, differences of bud size were decreased between upper ports and lower parts as leading angles were close to the horizon. And bud type was like a long-egg shape. regardless of growing type, differences of stets diameter between upper parts and lower parts were decreased when the angles were leaded horizon. In order to increase rate of shooting and flowering, regardless of leading time, rambler type was shooted in a short period and flowered evenly, from upper to lower parts of stem as leading angles were horizon. But in the case of 45
, the rate of lower parts was nearly zero. In climber type, shooting and flowering was only happened to the lower parts of stem when leaded during growth stage according to leaded horizon. These phenomena are supposed that shooting and flowering rate are influenced by not only apical dominance but degree of bud growth. Meanwhile, pillar type was shooted and flowered evenly to lower parts when the stem was leaded during growth stage or not leaded completely. But in creeper type, there was no connection with the leading. Therefore, this type had better not leaded. Length of flowering stem, regardless of growing type, was equaled when leaded during growth stage according to leaded horizon.
Studios on the Physical and Psychological Analysis in Street Spaces for Improving the Streetscape of Olympic Daero

The purpose of this thesis is to suggest objective basic data for the environmental planning and design through the quantitative analysis of the visual quality included in the physical environment of Olympic Express Way. For this, visual volumes of physical elements have been evaluated by using the Mesh analysis, visual preferences have been measured by questionnaires and SBE method, spatial images structure of physical elements have been analyzed by the factor analysis algorithm and visual preference scores of simulation perspectives have been measured by SBE method. Results of these thesis can be summarized as follow. The site No. 11, 20, 21, 17 and 23 obtain the higher rank of visual preference, visual volumes of the bridge, street furniture, high water riverbed and planting area are found to be the main factor determining the visual preference. These variables have been found to express regression relation. Factors covering the spatial image of the street landscape have been found to be the overall evaluation, openness, tidiness and pecurity. By using the control method for the number of factorors, T.V. has been obtained as 53.83%. For all seasons, factors such as the overall evaluation and openness yield high factor scores. Variables determining the degree of visual preference are different according to the differences in the regional spatial image. For the same site, it has been admitted the seasonal variations in variables determining the preference. The sign of the coefficient of the same variable has found to be dependent upon sites. For all experimental sites and seasons, The factors of the overall evaluation, opennes are found to be the main factors determining the visual preference. The overall visual preference and factor scores have been found to express the regression relation. In the result of visual preference analysis used simulation perspectives, slide No.4 of the artificial waterfall and slide No.2 of the street tree obtain the highest rank of visual preference. As the resonalble and visual volume maintain, the degree of visual preference increases relatively.
Analysis on the Users′ Behaviors and Satisfaction on the Actual Conditions of Management in Chiri Mountain National Park

The purpose of this thesis is to suggest objective basic data for park management proposal through the quantitative analysis of users' behaviors and satisfaction for the actual conditions of management in the Chiri Mountain National Park. For this users' behaviors and socio-economic characteristics have been cross-analyzed. Specifically, it attempts to investigate users' anticipate and degree of satisfaction applied Expectancy Theory by Likert attitude scale. Users'behaviors patterns of each site have been analyzed by the factor analysis algorithm, and each factor scores of sites have been clustered by the cluster method. And also user' satisfaction for the actual conditions of management have been analyzed by using the multiple regression. The major user groups were students and youth groups accompanied by their friends ranging from 3 to 10. The values of user'post occupancy-evaluation for such as rockwall climbing and praying on the mountain of each site showed higher than those of anticipated, but evaluation values of other activities were lower. The user'behaviors of each site have been analyzed five factors by factor analysis algorithm. By using the control method for the number of factors, T.V. has been obtained as 50.58%. The factor score of factor covering the behavior patterns of student and youth yield high EV. and C.V.. On the analysis of cluster using factor score, factor IV in Hwaomsa temple site and Ssanggyesa temple site, factor II, v in Jungsanri Valley site, factor, I, III in Bangmudong valley site and factor I. IV in Baemsagol vallry site showed very high values, respectively. According to the multiple regression analysis, the major variables related to the satisfaction for the actual conditions of vegetation and landscape managements were reservation of groundcover, recovery of artificial injury, the surroundings of camping and temple site. In the park facilities and operation, the major variables related to the satisfaction were conditions of management such amenity facilities as privy, sign board, junk yard, camping site, and guidance of excursion, campaign and preservation of nature.
A Study on Development Directions of the Touristic Resources in Korean Rural Regions - A Case Study of Cheonsong, Kongju and Kangjin Rural Regions -

The relative difference between Korean rural region and urban region has increased by the rapid urbanization and industrialization since 1960. Therefore it will be important to raise the income of the people living in rural region. So the Korean government established the collective side job area and rural industrial area for the increasing of the non-agricultural income. For this, the touristic resources development is also the another important means of the rural region development. So the purpose of this thesis exists in the presentation of the direction of the touristic resources development in rural region. For this purpose, three representative regions among the Korean rural regions were selected and the case study was accomplished. In this way the rough direction of the touristic resources development in rural region has presented The direction of the development and the conclusion were as follows : 1)Planners must establish the planning with the vision and demand of future than percent condition. 2)Because the urbanization is continued incessantly, the rural region is developed to be the space of resort. 3)The touristic resources development in rural region is contributed to the regional development through the raising interaction of the touristic resources. 4)The rural region is developed to be the space of the Korean rural tradition 5)The grassland os constructed in the mountenous land and the landscape of the Korean national land is changed to be the picturesque landscape. 6)The construction of the traditional artistic products is accomplished to increase the income of the people in rural region.
