Technique of Serving 3D GSIS Data on the Internet

To provide 3D GSIS data on the internet, 3D data structures need to be researched and applied for spatial analysis for subsurface modeling. As for GSIS software R&D trend the following things have pointed out : 3-dimensional geo-processing technologies, internet-based application system development, distributed processing technologies for large volume of spatial information, real-time geo-data processing methodologies, Among them research scope within Internet-based application system or Web-based GSIS generally contains core parts of software development such as Internet application, large volume of spatial database handling, real-time spatial data processing, spatial data transfer and transformation, and volumetric display of processing results. This study shows the method of providing 3D GSIS on the internet using VRML model, which are made of DEM data, draped aerial photo, and VRML script programming. And it is also studied that offering 3D GSIS engine on the internet and precise texture mapping using satellite image and aerial photos.
Calculation of Reservoir Capacity by Combination of GPS and Echo Sounder

The dam made reservoir, a major means to overcome the problems caused by water resource's uneven supply by time and space, plays an important role, particularly, of water supply. The role of water supply will get more important, considering the usage of water resource becomes more intensive. Therefore, it is continuously required to construct new dams securing water supply and to study on effective operation plans of the dam. The size of reservoir needs to be measured according to possible supply estimation in the pre-design stage. The depth of water, at this point, should be taken. Among many ways of sounding, echo sounding has been frequently used recently. This study, therefore, presents a new way of sounding that takes less time with stronger accuracy, uniting GPS and echo sounder to apply a means of obtaining three dimensional position data. This enables the designer to escape from the conventional way of sounding in the estimation of reservoir to design and redesign a new dam.
A Study on the Accuracy Analysis of Parcel Coordinate by RTK-GPS

RTK-GPS(Real Time Kinematic GPS) surveying technique which allows centimeter level three-dimensional coordinates in real time has been recognized as a major advance in the science of GPS positioning. And no longer is it necessary to wait until post-processed results are computed after the surveying has been completed in field. The purpose of this study is to present the accuracy and effectiveness of the determinated parcel coordinate by RTK-GPS surveying technique, through the analysis and comparison of the surveying results both in Total Station and RTK-GPS.
The Accuracy Analysis of Each Test Area Short Baseline Using Satellite Navigation System

GPS proved to very practical in the application of geodesy and surveying such Civil Engineering, control point surveying and the deformation surveying o( structure, but the accuracy of static GPS positioning is degraded at the sites which the visible satellites of GPS are less than 4, i.e. the urban area covered with the high building and the industrial zone. Thus, the combined GPS/GLONASS system was introduced to acquire the high accuracy of static positioning by a few satellites. So the combined GPS/GLONASS system show the good results at the sites which the accuracy of positioning is degraded due to few satellites, the cutoff of signal, and multipath in the urban area.
Development of Optimal Routes Guidance System based on GIS

The rapid change of industrial structure causes to increase distribution cost and requires necessity of physical distribution system urgently. Traffic situation is getting extremely worse and traffic jam has led to increasing expense of physical distribution delivery which dominates 20% of distribution cost. In this situation, the shortest and most suitable path search system is required by modern people who must waste a lot of time for moving with a car or on the street as well as many companies. for these reasons, we developed the shortest-path-searching system applying the dijkstra algorithm which is one of the effective shortest path algorithm to GIS, and it was constructed by considering realistic urban traffic and the pattern of street in a physical situation. Also, this system was developed to be updated weight data automatically, considering the dynamic change of traffic situation such as a traffic information service which will be served in real time. Finally, we designed this system to serve on web by using MapObjects IMS.
A Study on the Analysis of Risk Factor on Highway Alignment Using RTK GPS

At a recent, with an increase of traffic demand and a spread of automobile culture, the safety, convenience and speed of highway is required. On this study, using the real time kinematic GPS, observation value at a center line of ready-built road is obtained and then design specification of highway, IP, IA and R are obtained by least square method. Using those IP, IA and R, we analysed the risk factor of highway alignment by the standard for structure and facility of the road. With using RTK GPS, we could analyse dangerous element of highway alignment rapidly and cope with dangerous area of the existing road. It is also proved to apply availably whether we determine alignment improvement is needed or not or analyze source of accident related with alignment in the region having a high traffic accident rate.
Analysis of Cadastral Non-Coincidence Area by GSIS

This study try to attempt to manage on-line system of land cadastral by computing land registration information, for application to computerized cadastral work through Geo-Spatial Information System. And also, in order to consult D/B of cadastral information, cadastral non-coincidence area uncapable to D/B when land-survey, taking advantage of GSIS drawing made by the present condition drawing and the aerial photograph survey by general survey, makes actual cadastral control point by some selected investigators. And so, it can be compared and analysed by the result of the present survey and, through the interpretation of the relatives, it aims to improve the precision of survey technique in consulting cadastral information D/B in the future.
Analysis of Combined Observation of GPS and EDM for the Otimum Control Point Selection

Control point survey by GPS can save labor and time and can obtain result of high accuracy, but if excessive error is contained to Control point that is used to GPS relative positioning, the error that has influence on new point is propagated to various configuration. therefore poor triangulation points that are caused by careless management are existed, a product of the triangulation points still are in many case. In order to select new point, this study carried out error-analysis of surrounding-control-points and performed selective process of control point. The propriety parts of control points that are used to verify precision is identified by means of comparing existing product with or GPS product about some control points after directly observe each baseline by using EDM. As the error is analyzed by static positioning the optimum control point is selected, the precision of survey data by EDM is improved than GPS data.
Extraction of Road Facility Information Using Multi-Imagery

Recently, many studies on the construction of management system for road facility have been accomplished, and in its process the digital map is used as the essential data for spatial database. But in case where the existing topographical map or completion map of construction data is not sufficient for Data Base construction, the compilation, modification or renewal of digital map should be conflicted with large obstacles. This study intended to extract the road facility information using the image data of various form such as aerial photographs, terrestrial photographs and so on. The terrestrial photographic images are taken by hand-held camera, digital camera and video camera which are widely used and of low price in general. This study used the single frame images only for the raw image data, and the extracted spatial and attribute data from the images are used for modifying and updating the database. In addition, the creating possibility of the digital map in the relative scale using the spatial data extracted from the single images was tried.
Temperture Monitoring of Chejoo island using satellite Image

The studies using satellite data have been progressed in many area. Especially, Landsat data have been widely used due to its wide coverage. To establish a plan for preserving fishing and environment preservation, measurement of sea temperature is important. The measurement of the sea temperature was made on the ship. However, the measurement on the ship could not provide sufficient information due to the poor timing with relatively longer measurement, and point-based data acquisition. Thus remote sensing technique is required because satellite image data offer more wide coverage in sea temperature monitoring. The purpose of this paper was to study on the sea temperature monitoring with thermal band information of Landsat ETM+. From this study, sea temperature map of Cheju island has been made efficiently.
A Study on the Database Construction and the Management System Development of Water-Facility Using GSIS

The purpose of this study construct water-facility Database and to develop its management system using GSIS. We used route system and event table that are data model in GSIS for the construction of water valves on water facility pipe. A water-facility management system using GSIS was developed and was actually applied for the city of Yosu and compared with conventional water-facility management systems in terms of workability, information searching cost, and database management efficiency. The system has also been compared with those of two other local governments in terms of functions, process time, and conveniences. The generalization of the work model for water-facility system was also attempted based on the data collected from three local governments and it was revised by the work model of the wide area water-facility system. The generalized work model in this study was compared with other two local governments' work models. The generalized work model will enable local governments to develop more efficient and economical water-facility management system by GSIS in future.
