The Realization of the Wireless Internet DGPS for LBS

This research is to construct wireless internet DGPS using MS Visual Basic Active X control for LBS. The coordinate correction method was used in this system because of convenience of both direction communication on Web. The PictureBox control and bitblt function were used in coordinate display module. The MS Comm control, MS Winsock control (TCP/IP), MS CommonDialog control, MS Sysinfo control were used in internet DGPS communication module and published on Web. Realtime internet DGPS were tested using the system which developed in this study and near realtime monitoring through this system could be performed.
Water Quality Prediction of the Miho Stream Using GIS

This study conducted water quality projection of year 2010 in Miho stream of the Geum river basin by using GIS. Pollutant load data of corresponding tributary of the Miho stream is estimated based on the pollutant load of TMDL zone to simulate water quality of the Miho stream for BOD, TN, and TP. The pollutant load of the urban area such as Bochung and Musim stream basin is relatively high and the wastewater treatment plant of Chunju city directly affects the entire water quality of the target area. As a result, simulation result reveals that water treatment facility needs more refined treatment process for efficient water quality management. Also, to meet the target water quality of the Miho stream water quality simulation estimates the additional dilution flow by increasing irrigation water supplied from the Daechung dam through the Musim stream.
Application Analysis of GIS Based Distributed Model Using Radar Rainfall

According to recent frequent local flash flood due to climate change, the very short-term rainfall forecast using remotely sensed rainfall like radar is necessary to establish. This research is to evaluate the feasibility of GIS-based distributed model coupled with radar rainfall, which can express temporal and spatial distribution, for multipurpose dam operation during flood season.

The Expectation of the Land Use and Land Cover Using CLUE-S Model and Landsat Images

Land use/land cover is very important to understand the change in the land cover between specific periods. But as there are number of factors which are responsible for the change in the land cover, it is very difficult to identify the specific factors. Therefore in the study we made an attempt to use the land use strategies quantitatively and conducted simulation study. The input data using the CLUE-S model are the satellite data of 1987 and 2001 from Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) and Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) and we conducted simulations for 23 years from 1987 to 2010. As a result, the accuracy between the land use map derived from original satellite data and simulation for 2001 was 93.69% and in this reason we could expect land use and land cover in the future.
Evaluation of Large Scale Digital Mapping by Photogrammetry with GPS/INS

In this study, it was estimated efficiency of GPS/INS photogrammetry by comparison of accuracy and economical efficiency between conventional aerial triangulation and GPS/INS aerial triangulation at the base of large scale digital mapping using GPS/INS aerial survey. The results of aerial triangulation with GPS/INS showed that 40% of working amount was reduced in the process of ground control point survey compared to conventional aerial triangulation. In case of 1/5000 scale aerial triangulation, the results showed that 55% GCP work was reduced in 10 and 20 block size, and 60% GCP work was reduced in 30 block size, under the assumption of keeping the same accuracy.
Research of the Face Extract Algorithm from Road Side Images Obtained by vehicle

The face extraction is very important to provide the images of the roads and road sides without the problem of privacy. For face extraction form roadside images, we detected the skin color area by using HSI and YCrCb color models. Efficient skin color detection was achieved by using these two models. We used a connectivity and intensity difference for grouping, skin color regions further we applied shape conditions (rate, area, number and oval condition) and determined face candidate regions. We applied thresholds to region, and determined the region as the face if black part was over 5% of the whole regions. As the result of the experiment 28 faces has been extracted among 38 faces had problem of privacy. The reasons which the face was not extracted were the effect of shadow of the face, and the background objects. Also objects with the color similar to the face were falsely extracted. For improvement, we need to adjust the threshold.
Actual Condition of Inconsistency at the Boundary Areas of Administrative Districts

This research is aimed at offering a fundamental data for the adjustment of cadastral inconsistency of administrative boundary areas from this time onward by analyzing actual conditions of cadastral inconsistency at the study areas by the use of digital topographic map and digital cadastral map of si-gun-gu boundary area. As a result of examining the actual condition of cadastral inconsistency at the surveyed areas, the extent of cadastral inconsistency of the neighboring administrative boundary areas was assessed as

The Inner Pipeline Scanning Method by Digital Image Processing and Lens Combination

The most common method of pipeline inspection is to use a remote-controlled-machine equipped with a CCTV, which, however, has many limitations to accurately inspect pipeline condition. In case of a typical CCTV, since the camera looks at the end point of the pipe, the locations of the defects and distance-readings are often different. In addition, the quality and accuracy of the inspection is highly dependent on the operator's skill and experience. In this research a new system is developed by use of the image processing techniques and the lens combination. The image acquisition system is developed that acquires the front and the side view of the pipe simultaneously. Side view unwrapping and stitching technology using image process techniques are developed which delivers high resolution image data.

Evaluation and Comparison of the Topographic Effect Determination Using Korean Digital Elevation Model

The topographic effect is one of the most important component in the solution of the geodetic boundary value problem (geodetic BVP). Therefore, topographic effect should be considered properly for developing the precise geoid model, especially for the area where contains many mountains like Korea. The selection of gravity reduction method in the context of the precise geoid determination depends on the magnitude of its indirect effect, the smoothness and magnitude of the reduced gravity anomalies, and their related geophysical interpretation. In this study, Korean digital elevation model with 100m resolution was constructed and topographic effect was calculated by three reduction methods as like Helmert condensation method and RTM method and Airy-isostatic reduction method. Through the analysis of computation results, we can find that RTM reduction method is the best optimal method and the results shows that gravity anomaly and indirect effect of geoidal height are
respectively and it is the most gentle slow of the three methods. Through this study, it was found that the RTM method is better suitable for calculating topographic effect precisely in context of precise geoid determination in Korea than other reduction methods.
