A Study on the Frequency of Errors for National Digital Basemap

For the National Geo-Spatial Information System the development of the National Digital Basemap database is actively underway in Korea. For the National Digital Basemap database to be truly useful for various applications development it is essential to maintain its reliability. To maintain the reliability of the database it is necessary to understand the nature and the frequency of the errors in it. In general, a data inspection under the standardized quality control process is required to maintain the quality of a large database. In addition, it is important to maintain complete and detailed records of the inspection results so as to understand the relationship between the m and other factors causing errors. These records can be used as a reference for map updates and future application development. The goal of this study is to count the frequency of errors based on the typology of errors found in the digitized map inspection process and to analyze the correlation between errors and topographic composite quotient This study also provides guidelines for the inspection process regarding the error-prone cartographic elements in the digital map generation process.

An integrated optimal control modelhas been formulated to address dynamic freeway diversion control process. The purpose of this paper is to develop an effective and efficient approach for simultaneous]v solving optimal control measures, including on-ramp metering rates, off-ramp diversion rates, and g/C ratios for traffic signals, on a real-time basis. By approximating the flow-density relation with a two-segment linear function, the non-linear optimal control problem can be simplified into a set of piece-wised linear programming models and solved with the proposed SLP algorithm. consequently, an effective on-line feedback method has been developed for integrated freeway corridor control in the framework of the ITS
Development of Cartographic Models of Openspace Management for Practical Use of GIS

A mathodology to manage effectively urban open space using GIS(Geographic Information System) was developed to explore the methology of efficient urban open space management focusing on landscaped trees. Cartographic modeling technique was used for practical use of GIS as a case study of the Childeren's park in Kwangju city. First, spatial and attribute information for efficient landscaped tree management was acqired through the development of a tree management cartographic model. Second the information of location and the attribute of individual trees can be applied as a means of decision making in tree management. Thira optimal path of tree management and priority of management in work process of the selected urban open space could be determined according to the objective of park management.
Precision Digital Data Capture and Spatial Analysis for Preserving Cultural Properties

Precision digital data capture and spatial analysis system to cultural properties play important roles in preserving the existing properties. This study presents the acquisition oi digital data in geometrical context and spatial analysis for more effective management to cultural properties. Established in the same coordinates system, Precision 3D measurements and image analysis were peformed. In addition, geometrical analysis, and 3D monitoring to Songsanri Royals Tombs in Gongju were carried out in generating basedata for conservation plan.
A Study on Determining the Grade of Digital Map from the User's Viewpoint

Nowadays, digital map plays a role as a container of spatial database.'there have been many researches concerning the improvements of the digital map accuracy. From the user's viewpoint, however, the quality level of digital nap is as important as its accuracy, because fitness-for-use is considered the most important factor to the users. This study aims to find the methodology for determining the grade nか digital map. To accomplish this, we propose two major stages. First, weight factors of the layers are given according to the importance of the functions which must be considered in digital map generation. Scond, weight factors of the components to evaluate the accuracy of the digital map are presented By scoring the components and by summing the scores, the method for determining fitness-for-use is developed.
Improved Radial Sweep Algorithm for 3-dimensional Terrain Modelling

Researches in the field of Computer Graphics and Geographical Information Systems(GIS) have extensively studied the method of photo-realistic landscape modelling, because it have become a commom requirement in applications such as flight simulators, mission rehearsal, and construction planning. A common approach to the display of terrain uses a Digital Elevation Model(DEM). DEM is an evenly spaced array of the terrain elevation data and can be obtained from stereo satellite data. With the DEM data, the process of 3D terrain modelling consists of three steps. The first step is to extract the meaningful data (such as peak, pit, passes...) from DEM data based on LOD(Level Of Detail) criteria. The second is to construct the 3D surface by TIN, which represents a surface as a set of non-overlapping continuous triangular facets of irregular size and shape. The third is a rendering of 3D terrain model. The goal of this research is a construction of 3D terrain with TIN. To do this, we are going to app]y Radial Sweep Algorithm. Radial Sweep Algorithm for generating TIN works quickly and efficiently. However, it does not solve the problem caused by the approximated nature of triangulated surface. To solve this problem, this research derive improved radial sweep algorithms with the optimal triangle definition.
Development of Object Oriented Class Library for Digital Photogrammetry

For real-time data Process of digital images, all things that related to problem-domain are understood individual object and then it Is necessary to program using object oriented approach to grasp all problem as a objects operation by means of message transmission among objects. In this study, for digital photogrammetry class is designed using object oriented programming and class hierarchy is established Also, it is very useful to construct to digital photogrammetry system using class library when it is applied to close range photogrammetry.
A Study on the Allowable Correlation Coefficient Determination for Image Matching in Digital Photogrammetry

Image matching to determine the conjugate points in stereo photos is the one of the most important subject in digital photogrammetry and many researches In digital photogrammetric field are on going to automate the image matching process. In this study, we analyzes the effect of allowable correlation coefficient, which controls the accuracy in areal based image matching, on the accuracy of digital photogrammetry. So, some areal based matching methods such as image correlation coefficient matching, image Pyramid matching and interest point matching, are implemented, and the effect of allowable correlation coefficient on accuracy of digital photogrammetry in each method is analyzed. As a result of this study, a method to determine the optimal correlation coefficient is presented.
The 3 Dimension Accuracy Analysis of Human Body Using the Digital Image

The precise measurement and the construction of analysis system for human body is very important in human engineering fields. As this study is about to the accuracy improvement of digital image for human body monitoring, we apply the optimum exposure condition which is decided through the accuracy analysis of digital images those are acquired at the various exposure station to the human body model. We acquired digital data in 1mm accuracy and carried out various spatial analyses. We expect tile results of this study to offer the fundamental source data for the human engineering fields.
A Study about the Growth of Regional Employment through the Influence of Yosu-Kwangyang Harbor.

The aim of this study is to forcast the economic impact of Yosu-Kwangyang harbour on the regional employment. Industries in relation to this harbor can be divided into three parts; related industries to harbor(RI), direct dependent industries on harbor(DDI), indirect dependent industries(IDI). Research regions are 4 cities (Yosu, Yochun, Soonchun, Dongkwangyang) and 3 counties (Yochun, Seungju, Kwangyang).In the aspect of employment, the Yosu-Kwangyang harbor produced a good effect in these regions. In 1995, the rates of the dependence on harbor were showed up RI 1.63%, DBI 3.33%, IDI 15.99%, TOTAL 19.95%. In the Suture, the rates may be showed up various results as; in TOTAL rates, 33.59% in 2000, 44.95% in 2005, 48.03% in 2010, 49.82% in 2015.
A Study on the Optimum-Path for Traffic of Road Using GIS

Traffic jam densified day by day is phenomenon to occur lack of the road capacity in comparison with traffic density, but lack of the road cannot be concluded by main cause of traffic ism. Because the central function of a city would be concentrated upon the downtown and traffic demand would not be evenly distributed by the classification of an hour. Therefore, this study based on the fact that each driver will select the route generating traffic delay very low when path choice from origin to destination in travel plan estimating the quality of passage could be maintained the speed he want will approach to a characteristic grasp of a road, traffic, driver changing every moment by traffic-demand of road increased as a geometrical series with analysis a classification of a street, a intersection along the path on traffic density and highway capacity analysis the path using GIS techniques about complex street network, also will get the path of actual optimum for traffic delay trend creating under various condition the classification per a hour, a day of week and an incident through network such as analysis for traffic generation zone adjacent about street, intersection, afterward will expect the result increasing efficiency of the road-use through a good distribution of traffic by optimum-path choice, accordingly will prepare the scientific, objective, appropriate basis to decide the reasonable time of a road-widen and expansion through section analysis along a rate of traffic volume vs. road capacity.
The Numerical Simulation of Sediment Transport Using GIS Technique

A coupling of two-dimensional model and GIS technique is applied to simulate sediment transport analysis. Accurate transformations are performed for the data which have various reduced scales. Basic maps are discretized the mesh of true scale for the finite element model by using the digital map and the Traverse Mercator coordinate. Under
flow rate condition, velocity vectors, depth contours, velocity contours and deposition contours are Presented for the 5km reach of midstream of Keum River from confluence of Ji-chun to Baekche Bridge. The simulation results of the study agree well with those of one-dimensional varied flow analysis and observed data. The flow and deposition pattern revealed a meandering characteristics of the river qualitatively.
The Precision Analysis of Long Baseline Measurement by using Broadcast Ephemeris and Precise Ephemeris of GPS Satellites

The purpose of this study is to estimate the precision of GPS survey for the long baseline measurement. For this, we performed the simultaneous GPS observations at two points in Korea and nine points in Japan, and analyzed the precision of GPS survey by using broadcast ephemeris and precise ephemeris. As the results, in using precise emepheris and broadcast emepheris for the baseline less than 100km, each precisions are less than 0.1ppm. But the precision of precise emepheris is more improved than that of broadcast ephemeirs in the case of the baseline longer than 100km. That is, in comparing the results of VLBI and GPS survey, the precision is 0.13ppm for broadcast ephelneris and 0.04ppm for precise ephemeris. We expect that in the future this study will be used as the basic data for using broadcast ephemeris and precise ephemeris in GPS survey for the long baseline mearsurment.
A Study on the GPS Auto-surveying system and work procedure to perform a precise three dimensional topographic survey

The purpose of this paper is to study the ideal Auto-surveying system and to establish the standard of work procedure involved with completing a precise three-dimensional topographic survey with RTK GPS equipment, a pen based personal computer, and real time CADD software. The fieldwork was done at a golf course which could be regarded as a heavy civil project site such as the reclamation and the site preparation work in December of 1997. The proposed Auto-surveying system and the work procedure in this paper is based on the data processing and the resultant topographic map of the golf course.
A GIS and Expert System Based Transportation Facility Management System for Local Government

The purpose of this paper is to implement a GIS and expert system based integrated computing environment for urban facility management, especially with an emphasis on transportation facilities. GIS has been utilized for constructing and managing the database of various transportation facilities, while expert system for executing human expert's role of making priorities, budgeting, and other functions associated with facility management Focusing on roadway sign system, the integrated system proposes new concept of managing sign facilities which leads to the birth of effective decision support system that may be used in local government like Seoul. The proposed concept and system, if supplemented with more functions required by local governments, can be a low cost solution for such facility management tasks. Son discussion and future research agenda have also been addressed.
A Study on the Replication Consistency Model for the Mapping System on the Client-Sewer Environment

It is required for multi-users to share massive mapping data effectively that distributed data model in the Client-Server environment is developed for the replication consistency. The existing model is not effective to the long transaction just like a mapping system, since it does not account lot consistency between GUI screen and database replications even though it emphasizes on the replication consistency. The performance of concurrency control is very important for those long transactions, especially the mapping systems. This model is to support consistency between GUI screen and replicas using display locks. It suggests consistency model improving process performance by modifying memory consistency model and optimistic concurrency control for mapping data's characteristics.
Production of Digital Image Map using Aerial Photo and Geospatial Information System

This study aims to develope the production method of digital image map of high capable utiliy and terrain interpretability using aerial photo and Geospatial Information System. Theory and efficient practical method was studied to generate tile digital image map with low-cost personal computer system using the merging procedure of raster scanned aerial photo and vector topographic map. Determination theory of ground coordinates, digital image processing, production of digital elevation model was reviewed. And some chariteristics of digital image map, image collection method and significant concepts of digital image processing was studied. Also input and output way of image data to generate the digital image nap, production method of orthophoto map using aerial photo through digital differential rectification was studied. As the result, digital image map was produced and analyzed through the above mentioned procedures.
