Maximum Coupling Phenomena through a Slit Fed by a Flanged Parallel-Plate Waveguide with a Conducting Strip

In this paper, the electromagnetic coupling through a slit in a flanged parallel-plate waveguide with a conducting strip is studied. The coupled integro-differential equations for the electric field over the slit and the induced current over the strip are derived and solved by use of the method of moments. The characteristics of some types of maximum coupling phenomena are investigated from the examinations of the variations of the equivalent slit admittance and the coupled power against various parameters such as the location of conducting strip, operating frequency, and strip length.
A Small RFID Tag Antenna with Bandwidth-Enhanced Characteristic

In this paper, a small RFID tag antenna in UHF band which has bandwidth-enhanced characteristic is proposed. The shape of the proposed antenna is a meander antenna to have size-reduced characteristic, and it consists of two radiators which make dual resonance in adjacent frequency to enhance bandwidth. By adjusting length and location of each radiator, the proposed antenna can make dual resonance at arbitrary location on the Smith chart, which is able to make impedance matching with RFID tag chip in wide frequency range. And it is apparent that the proposed antenna can have bandwidth-enhanced characteristic according to the simulated and measured results.
Design of the PAM with High Linearity and Efficiency for Wibro

This thesis is regarding of fabricating wibro PAM. First of all, we need to set specification based on link budget for wibro communication circumstance in order to develop PAM, then we decided specification concerning of wibro PAM by considering TTAS_Ko_06_0082R1 which is standarded in Korea, and IEEE Std. 802. 16d/e which is international standard. We selected the Doherty structure to increase efficiency, and pre-distorter structure to increase linearity. The fabricated PAM has not only a result of
gain characteristics and maximum of -14 dB return loss characteristics in full frequency bands and full output ranges, but also a result of 37 dBc at 4 tone IMD characteristics which is improved result of 843 and a result of 31 dBc spurious characteristics which is improved result of 5 dB at 4.77 MHz offset point in status of having 27 % efficiency in the 26 dBm high power amplifier output signal. We confirmed the suggested structure is better than others by comparing with normal structure, balanced structure and Doherty structure without predistorter.
Crosstalk Analysis of Coupled Lines Connected with Vias in a 4-Layer PCB

Multi-layer PCBs are of ien used In compact microwave circuit design as density of PCB layout is increased. In this paper, the crosstalk between coupled lines connected with vias in a 4-layer PCB is investigated theoretically based on the circiuit-concept approach. Coupled lines connected with vias in a 4-layer PCB are divided into three sections, which are coupled microstrip lines and upper via section, center via section, and lower via and coupled microstrip lines section, respectively. Each section is represented by ABCD matrix. By cascading these three ABCD matrices crosstalk between coupled lines connected with vias in a 4-layer PCB is approximately calculated. The validity of this theoretical approach is verified by comparing the calculated results with the simulated ones using HFSS.
Design of a High Power Asymmetric Doherty Amplifier with a Linear Dynamic Range Characteristic

In this paper, an asymmetric high power extended Doherty amplifier for WCDMA base-station applications is presented. The amplifier has an extended peak efficiency over 9 dB of output power and a linear dynamic range characteristic. To realize the peak efficiency extension and linear dynamic range characteristic, a two times larger peaking device compared to the main device, and an unequal power divider are used. From the experimental results of 1FA WCDMA signal, this amplifier has an efficiency of 31 % and an ACLR of -35 dBc is achieved at 9 dB back-off from P1 dB.
Compensation for the Distorted Signals in WDM System with Non Zero-Dispersion Shifted Fiber Using Optical Phase Conjugator

In this paper, the numerical methods of finding the optimal position of optical phase conjugator(OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersions are proposed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in
Gbps WDM system with non zero-dispersion shifted fiber(NZ-DSF) as an optical fiber. And the compensation characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) technique in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the optimal parameter values induced in this approach are very useful to effectively compensate overall channels in WDM system with OPC. And, it is confirmed that two optimal parameters depend on each other, but less related with the searching procedure. The methods proposed in this research will be expected to alternate with the method of making a symmetrical distribution of power and local dispersion in real optical link which is a serious problem of applying the OPC into multi-channels WDM system.
A Frequency Reconfigurable Slot Antenna with Bandwidth-Enhanced Characteristics

In this paper, a frequency reconfigurable slot antenna which has a bandwidth-enhanced characteristic is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of two parts; the wide slot and the narrow slot, to increase the bandwidth of the antenna and have the frequency reconfigurable characteristic. The wide slot has triangular shape and makes the bandwidth increased, and the narrow slot can mount PIN diodes. By changing on/off state of PIN diodes, the total length of the slot is changed. From this characteristic, the proposed antenna can finally control the center frequency and minimize variation of the impedance matching.
A PAPR Reduction Technique by the Partial Transmit Reduction Sequences

It is required to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system or a multicarrier system. And it is needed to eliminate the transmission of the side information in the Partial Transmit Sequences. So, in this paper, a new technique is proposed, where the subcarriers used for the multiple signal representation are only utilized for the reduction of PAPR to eliminate the burden of transmitting the side information. That is, it is proposed by taking the modified minimization criteria of partial transmit sequences scheme instead of using the convex optimization or the fast algorithm of tone reservation(TR) technique As the result of simulation, the PAPR reduction capability of the proposed method is improved by 3.2 dB dB, 3.4 dB, 3.6 dB with M=2, 4, 8(M is the number of partition in the so-called partial transmit reduction sequences(PTRS)), when the iteration number of fast algorithm of TR is 10 and the data rate loss is 5 %. But it is degraded in the capability of PAPR reduction by 3.4 dB, 3.1 dB, 2.2 dB, comparing to the TR when the data rate loss is 20 %. Therefore, the proposed method is outperformed the TR technique with respect to the complexity and PAPR reduction capability when M=2.
Reforming Method & Proposal for the Technical Regulations of Weak Field Strength Radio Equipment in Domestic

Recently radio communication environment have being standarded by the leading nations against the various technology of communication. Therefore to manage the changing communication environment, research about technology standard and standardization has gone variously in our country. In this dissertation, we discuss the trends of policy and analyze the technical regulation for the extremely low power devices in other countries. In addition, this paper proposes a draft revision of technical regulation for new efficient electric field strength of extremely low power devices in accordance with the technical requirement of Electromagnetic Compatibility. Based on these researches, the contents of this study will be useful to contribute a domestic efficient expansion and development of extremely low power devices and strengthen a competitiveness on international communication markets.
A Study on the Performance Improvement for UWB Ranging in Multipath Environments by Modified Linear FM Signals

Recently a new spectrum ruling has been proposed for UWB(Ultra-Wideband) communication applications. The new proposal is expected to reduce the usable UWB spectrum significantly and may cause to weaken the unique advantages of the UWB pulses such as high resolution synchronizations and robustness to the multipath effects. In this paper, we investigate the performance degradation caused by the reduced UWB spectrum. As a means to overcome the performance degradation, a modified discrete linear frequency modulation technique is proposed. We show that, when multipath components are present in the received signal, the proposed method exhibits superior performances in terms of pulse detection efficiency and range resolutions.
