Design of a 5.8 GHz Broad Band-Pass Filter with Second of Harmonics Suppression Using the Open Stubs

In this paper, a broadband open stubs band pass filters which can suppress the second harmonics using Z-transform technique, is designed, fabricated and characterized. The proposed broadband filters integrate the band stop filter with the FSCS structure and
open stub in order to suppress the second harmonics. Due to insertion of BSF at input and output terminal, the size of the filter was increased in the conventional filter, however, in the proposed structure, the position of inverter that connects the stubs can be integrated between those stubs, thereby decreasing the size. So, it can be fabricated in the size of
which is smaller size than conventional one. The measured results of the proposed filters have center frequency of a 5.8 GHz with bandwidth of 95 %, insertion loss of 0.6 dB, return loss of 14 dB. The simulation results are consistent with measurement results. The filter is designed far X-band satellite communication and ITS applications.
Loop Probe Design and Measurement of Electromagnetic Wave Signal for Contactless Cryptographic Analysis

In this paper, a study has been performed on the design of small loop probe and analysis of induced electromagnetic wave signal from a smartcard for contactless cryptographic analysis. Probes for cryptographic analysis are different from conventional EM probes, because the purpose of proposed probe is to obtain the information for secret key analysis of cryptographic system. The waveform of induced voltage on probe must be very close to radiated waveform from IC chip on smartcard because electromagnetic attack makes an attempt to analyze the radiated waveform from smartcard. In order to obtain secret key information, we need to study about cryptographic analysis using electromagnetic waves, an approximate model of source, characteristic of probe for cryptographic analysis, measurement of electromagnetic waves and calibration of probes. We measured power consumption signal on a smartcard chip and electromagnetic wave signal using proposed probe and compared with two signals of EMA point of view. We verified experimently the suitability of the proposed small loop probe for contactless cryptographic analysis by applying ARIA algorithm.
Miniaturized Hairpin Tunable Filter with the Single Control Voltage

This paper presents the varactor-tuned miniaturized hairpin tunable filter with a single control voltage. The previously proposed miniaturization method is a very straight-forward method to miniaturize a parallel coupled-line filter. In this paper, the miniaturized hairpin tunable filter is proposed with the constant ratio rule of that the capacitances of the each stage always have constant ratio without any dependency to miniaturized electrical length. To show the validity of the proposed method, a 3rd order 0.5 dB ripple Chebyshev fitter with a center frequency of 900 MHz and a fractional bandwidth(FBW) of 10 % was designed and fabricated. The fabricated filter was based on CER-10 substrate of Taconic Inc. with 1SV277 varactor diode of Toshiba Inc. The center frequency of the fabricated filter can be changed from 606 MHz to 944 MHz, 338 MHz with the control voltage from 0.5 V to 4 V. The insertion loss of the proposed filter is increased with the increment of the control voltage, and the filter characteristics are well reserved expect of slight change of the bandwidth with the various control voltage.

In this paper, the development of wideband MIMO channel sounder and a pilot measurement result is described for research on the multi antenna radio propagation characteristics considering urban environment at microwave frequencies. We developed
MIMO(BW:100 MHz) channel sounder using the high speed switching mechanism and periodic pseudo random binary signals method considering next generation mobile communication system. A pilot measurement campaign at the urban area of Bundang is presented for confirmation of system performance. From the analysis of measurement data, wideband path loss exponent of 3.7 and 8 GHz band is 1.79 and 1.76. Average RMS delay spread is 200 ns and 42 ns respectively. From the experiment results, operation of this measurement system is confirmed considering research for a coverage, SNR and channel capacity in urban environment at microwave frequencies.
Subsurface Antenna for Remote Management of Underground Facility

In this paper, two novel subsurface antennas for remote management of underground facilities using PCS and cellular wireless network are proposed. The proposed subsurface antenna is a dual band circular patch which is inserted and molded for the protection of the antenna into a metal such as a manhole cover. The antenna is designed considering the resonant frequency shift of the antenna due to the insertion and molding. The measured return loss and receiving power of the fabricated antenna comparison with a dipole shows that two proposed subsurface antenna can be used for remote management of underground facilities using PCS and cellular systems.

In this paper, E-TDLNN(Expanded-Tapped Delay Line Neural Network) method is suggested to make the model of power amplifier effectively. This method is the one for making the model of power amplifier through the study in neural network to the target value, the measured output spectrum of power amplifier, after adding the external value factor, gate bias, as an invariant input to the TDLNN method which suggested the memory effect of power amplifier effectively. To prove the validity of suggested method, the data at 2 points, 3.45 V and 3.50 V of gate bias range
with the 0.01 V step change, are studied and the predicted results at the gate bias 3.40 V, 3.48 V, 3.53 V and 3.60 V shows good coincidence with the measured values.

In this paper, the design techniques required to design heterodyned OPLL such as frequency-phase deference detector, loop filter and phase noise of semiconductor laser are presented. Through the experiments with the calculated parameters, we confirmed that the frequency-phase difference detector simply develops an error component that is proportional to the frequency-phase difference between heterodyned optical signals. OFDM Communication System Based on the IMD Reduction Method

OFDM system has very good high spectral efficiency and the robustness to the frequency-selective fading. Because of the high PAPR, OFDM signals can be distorted in nonlinear HPA(High Power Amplifier). So, to overcome the nonlinear distortion, it is very important to reduce the IMD value. With respect to the BER performance, IMD reduction method is better than the PAPR reduction method. However, IMD reduction method has much more system complexity because of the additional FFT processor in transmitter. In this paper, we study the OFDM communication system based on the IMD reduction method using SPW method. A new IMD reduction method is proposed to reduce the computational complexity. SPW method is to divide the input OFDM data into several sub-blocks and to multiply phase weighting values with each sub-blocks for the reduction of PAPR or IMD. Unlike the conventional method, the system size and computational complexity can be reduced.
Received Signal Performance Measurement in the Urban Area for the Variable DVB-H Parameters

This paper presents the measured signal performances in the urban environment for the DVB-H parameters such as code rate, burst size, FFT mode and modulation technique to analyze the DVB-H signal performance avaible for the embodiment of single frequency network to improve the frequency efficiency. Measurements were performed for the case for applying and non-applying MPE-FEC technique simultaneously. Results show that the most outstanding performance are found in the case of QPSK modulation, 1/2 code rate, 2 k FFT mode and 512 burst size. In addition, the signal performance by the SFN with 1/8 guard interval becomes superiour in comparision with the measured data from each site and the data from SFN with 1/32 guard interval. The analysis of the results can be instructive for the improvement of the signal performance and broadcasting quality for the terrestrial digital mobile broadcasting service.
Multi-Current Distributed Folded Monopole Antenna for Triple Band Mobile Phone Handset

We design and fabricate, in this parer, a triple band folded monopole antenna for the folder type mobile phone handset that can be served GSM/DCS/USPCS mobile phone system. Antenna structure is modified meander shape which is obtained both extension of antenna physical length for GSM band and same directional multi-currents flowing on the antenna conductor surface for DCS/USPCS band. This antenna has as good performances as high radiation resistance and gain increment, and would be applied to mobile phone handset that is not able to be performed by internal antenna. By measurement, fabricated antenna by the press process shows under VSWR 3:1 at closed folder state and 2:1 at opened folder state over whole GSM/DCS/USPCS band, and has maximum gain as -0.02 dBi for GSM, +0.2 dBi for DCS, +0.78 dBi for USPCS band with almost omnidirectional H-plane radiation pattern.
The Performance Improvement of the OFDM Based Satellite Communication System with the Consideration of Transponder Characteristics

In this paper, the effects of performance improvement far the OFDM based satellite communications are analyzed with applying the CI(Carrier Interferometry)-OFDM and channel coding scheme considering the group delay and gain ripple characteristic as well as the nonlinear characteristic of the transponder. Comparing the BER between traditional OFDM and CI-OFDM, the degree of performance improvement is presented in AWGN channel environments for specified backoff condition of HPA. The simulations are performed with the 36 MHz bandwidth of transponder channel, 120 Mbps transmission rate, and 16 QAM modulation scheme between ideal and worst case condition. It is shown that the improvement measure by the CI-OFDM and channel coding for the group delay and nonlinear characteristic outperforms that for the gain ripple in terms of performance degradation presented by the individual characteristics. And the simulation results show that the effects of improvement by the CI-OFDM outperforms the effect by the applied channel coding, particularly in worst case condition.
Target Altitude Extraction for Multibeam Surveillance Radar in Multipath Environmental Condition

The multibeam surveillance radar is a state-of-art of 3D radar technology. It applies the stacked beam-on-received realized by a digital beamformer. In this paper, a method of a low target altitude extraction for multibeam surveillance radar in multipath environmental condition is proposed and investigated. The model of multipath propagation and radar generation produced from the low altitude target in multibeam surveillance radar and the nelder-mead simplex multipath reduction(NMSMR) method which enables a reliable low altitude target extraction in specular reflection situations are described. The proposed algorithm is simulated to confirm the effectiveness of proposed algorithm in accordance with a various of target altitudes and radar frequencies.
