The Propose of EMI Limits for GETM Cell Using Correlation Factor between OATS and GTEM Cell

This study is about the limits of GTEM cell using correlation factor between the OATS(Open area Test Site) and the GTEM cell. First, the field strengths at the 10 m distance OATS and in GTEM cell to obtain the experimental correlation factor are measured. Also, the EMI limits of radiated power are derived in GTEM cell as 3 position method is inversely transformed. The field strengths that calculated from theoretical models by 3 and 15 position methods are programmed and compared with measured data at the OATS. As the EMI limits of GTEM cell is newly defined, it will be use to substitute GTEM cell for OATS to efficiently measure EMI(Electromagnetic Interference).
A Design of the Dual-Band Bandpass Filter Using a Coupling Controllable Dual-Mode Resonators

In this paper, we designed and fabricated a dual-band bandpass filter which can control upper and lower bandwidth using the transformed E-shaped dual-mode resonator. The filter is made the coupling between even-mode not to affect odd-mode resonant frequency by the transformed resonator to control upper bandwidth effectively. The cross coupling between input and output feed lines was employed to improve stopband characteristic. The bandpass filter has been designed to indicate the same bandwidth at center frequency 2 GHz and 3 GHz to show to control bandwidth.
SAR Motion Compensation Using GPS/IMU

This paper suggests a motion compensation technique using GPS/IMU data in order to compensate for phase error caused by undesired motion of radar platform. An actual flight trajectory would be deviate from an ideal straight-constant trajectory with a constant velocity for SAR imaging, due to pitch, roll and yaw motion of aircraft caused by turbulence. This leads to blurred SAR images due to inter-pulse phase errors as well as along-track velocity errors. If the motion compensation is carried out to reduce those errors, SAR image quality can be significantly improved. Simulation results show that the motion compensation technique introduced in this paper is an effective tool to improve SAR image quality against severe motion of radar platform.
Coded Cooperation Communication over Two-Way Relay Network

Comparing conventional one-way relaying, two-way relaying scheme with network coding can achieve high throughput by reducing the transmission time. Coded cooperation protocol, which is a algorithm that uses coding on physical layer, can achieve high reliability. In this paper, we propose coded cooperation protocol over two-way relay network. Simulation results show proposed protocol has better performance in terms of reliability and throughput compare with conventional amplify and forward protocol. Also, with same throughput, proposed protocol has better performance in terms of reliability compare with the conventional hybrid decoded and forward protocol.
A Fast ICI Suppression Algorithm with Adaptive Channel Estimation for the LTE-Advanced Uplink System

In this paper, we propose a fast ICI suppression algorithm with adaptive channel estimation for the LTE-Advanced uplink system. In order to effectively remove phase noise and carrier frequency offset at time varying channel, we use the comb type pilot. The purpose is to improve performance by reducing computational complexity than conventional PNFS(Phase Noise & Frequency offset Suppression) algorithm. We reduce computational complexity by decreasing overlapping computation or unnecessary computation at conventional PNFS algorithm. Also, we propose an effective channel estimation method. We estimate and compensate multipath channel through the proposed adaptive channel estimation method. The BER performance of the proposed method is better about 0.5 dB than the conventional method at the Vehicular A channel.
A Study on the Prediction of Electric Field Strength for Terrestrial TV Broadcasting by Digital Adoption

In this paper, we propose a calculation methodology of the service distance to assure the satisfactory quality of service for analogue and digital TV receivers. Using the field strength formulation for TV receiver based upon Rec. ITU-R P.1546, computational results are presented and discussed for both systems, and some important factors are reviewed in terms of the equivalent level of service, which must be kept due to ATV to DTV conversion. The presented method provides the predicted values of field strength at receiver areas to check whether transmission quality can be satisfied or not, and it can be also used for obtaining the protection ratio or separated distance from co-channel or adjacent interference signal.
Analysis of Detection Performance of Radar Signal Processor with Relation to Target Doppler Velocity and Clutter Spectrum Characteristics

MTI filter is used to separate target signal from clutter in many radar signal processing. By suppressing clutter before CFAR detection, the detection performance can be improved. As a radar system designed, a design engineer generally takes averaged SNR and CNR into account and does not include the effect of MTI filter`s frequency response. In practice, when the signals including clutter are pass through the filter, SNR is widely varying according to target velocity and CNR is also varying according to clutter center frequency and spectrum spreading. In this paper, we have derived the relationship between the MTI filter`s frequency response and a target`s velocity and a clutter`s spectrum characteristics. With the variation of SNR and CNR at the filter output, the detection performance of CFAR has been analyzed by the simulation and has made certain of their influences on the performance.
Improvement of the Radiation Efficiency for a CPW(Co-Planar Waveguide)-Fed ZOR(Zeroth-Order Resonant) Antenna

In this paper, a co-planar waveguide(CPW)-fed zeroth-order resonant(ZOR) antenna with an improved radiation efficiency was built and tested. The unit cell of the proposed antenna consists of a series metal-insulator-metal(MIM) capacitor and a shorted shunt stub inductor. In order to reduce the antenna size and to achieve the high radiation efficiency two shorted shunt stub arms bent by 90 degree were connected to the ground plane through the via. The proposed antenna consisting of two unit cells has an open ended composite right/left-handed(CRLH) transmission line structure. As a result the dominantly radiating parts of the antenna comes from shunt stub arms and vertical vias. The total size of the fabricated zeroth-order resonant antenna is
. The measured gain and efficiency of the fabricated antenna have been enhanced by 3.07 dBi and 75 %, respectively, at the zeroth-order resonant frequency of 2.97 GHz.
Effect of PCB Switching Noise on Radiated Emission from Enclosure Aperture

This paper investigates the radiated emission from the enclosure aperture, when the enclosure contains a 4-layer PCB and the PCB is driven by a pulse train additive with the switching noise from an active device. Radiated emission characteristics with and without switch noise cases, respectively, are analyzed by changing the PCB location and the slot direction. The equivalent circuit of a DC-DC converter is used to simulate the switching noise of active device. Also, MWS simulation results are directly connected to the ADS simulator as a 2-port block. The simulated results are compared with the measured ones.
A 0.18-μm CMOS Low-Power and Wideband LNA Using LC BPF Loads

This paper has proposed a 3~5 GHz low-power and wideband LNA(Low Noise Amplifier), which has been implemented in a 0.18-
CMOS technology. The proposed LNA has basically the noise-cancelling topology to achieve a balun-function, wideband input matching, and relative low noise figure. In addition, it has utilized a 2nd-order LC-band-pass filter(BPF) as its output load to achieve higher power gain and lower noise figure with the lowest dc power consumption among previously reported works. The proposed amplifier consumes only 3.94 mA from a 1.8 V supply voltage. The simulation results show a power gain of more than +17 dB, a noise figure of less than +4 dB, and an input IP3 of -15.5 dBm.
Design of Broadband Spiral Antenna for Non-Linear Junction Detector

This paper presents a design of spiral antenna with broad bandwidth for non-linear junction detector(NLJD). An elliptical patch as radiating element located on center position of radiating surface, as well as the spiral elements on radiating surface was designed for broad bandwidth of spiral antenna. An antenna ground structure generating the multi resonance by spiral slit inserted on ground surface was also proposed. In order to realize high directivity and high gain of the proposed antenna, the cavity wall made of Fr4-epoxy and the metal cap were considered in design. As a result, the calculated gain of antenna with metal cap was improved about 3 dB with comparison of antenna without metal cap and the measured main beam directivity toward -z axis direction agreed well with calculation result. The measured axial ratio satisfied the circular polarization within -z axis
at design frequency bands and showed reasonable agreement with prediction.
Performance Analysis of Projection Statistics through Method of Clutter Covariance Matrix Estimation for STAP

We analyze the performance of various techniques to overcome degradation of performance of STAP caused by nonhomogeneous clutter. The performance of NHD that used to eliminate outliers from nonhomogeneous clutter is improved by using the projection statistics(PS) that is robust to multiple outliers. The method of clutter covariance matrix estimation using a median value and the conventional method are also investigated and then compared. From the simulation results of STAP, the method of clutter covariance matrix estimation using a median value shows better performance than the conventional method for the calculation of the SINR loss, and MSMI for the single target and the multiple targets regardless of the NHD methods.
Complexity Reduction Algorithm for Quantized EGT Codebook Searching in Multiple Antenna Systems

Reduced complexity codebook searching for Quantized Equal Gain Transmission(QEGT) is proposed over MIMO-OFDM systems. QEGT codebook is divided into M groups of Q index members. Each group has a representative index. At the 1st stage only the representative indices are searched then the best index is selected. At the 2nd stage the optimum index is determined only among the group of the selected representative index. This strategy reduces the overall index search algorithm comparing to the conventional methods. Monte-Carlo simulation shows that the searching complexity is reduced, but the link-level performance is still almost the same as the conventional methods when the number of transmission antennas are 3 to 7.
Design of the Non-Resonant SWG Antenna with Double Slots in the Narrow Wall of Rectangular Waveguide

In this paper, the non-resonant SWG(Slotted Waveguide) antenna with double slots in narrow wall of rectangular waveguide is designed. Because energy radiated from each slot depends upon inclination angle of slot of the designed antenna, inclination angle of each slot is controlled to satisfy the amplitude distribution for required sidelobe level. Instead of the conventional extraction method of slot conductance, this amplitude distribution is made by the proposed method, which employs far-field radiation pattern calculated by Fourier transform of aperture field distribution on slot. The non-resonant double SWG antenna is designed by the proposed method and is manufactured. The antenna performances are measured and compared with the simulated results.
A 2 GHz Compact Analog Phase Shifter with a Linear Phase-Tune Characteristic

In this paper, we present a 2 GHz compact analog phase shifter with linear phase-tune characteristic. The compact phase shifter was designed base on a lumped all pass network and implemented using a ceramic substrate fabricated with thin-film technique. For a linear phase-tune characteristic, a capacitance of the varactor diode for a tuning voltage was linearized by connecting series capacitor and subsequently produced an almost linear capacitance change. The inductor and bias circuit in the all pass network was implemented using a spiral inductors for small size, which results in the size reduction to
. In order to measure the phase shifter using the probe station, two CPW pads are included at the input and output. The fabricated phase shifter showed an insertion loss of about 4.2~4.7 dB at 2 GHz band and a total
phase change for DC control voltage from 0 to 5 V, and showed linear phase-tune characteristic as expected in the design.
