A Study on DOA Estimation Using Dipole Array Antenna Based on MoM

Direction estimation of signal of interest has been an important issue in radar and communication system. Generally, DOA(Direction Of Arrival) methods have been researched in the field of signal processing with ideal array sensors. However, there are some problems in array antennas such as the input signal distortions in amplitude and phase, due to the mutual coupling between array elements. In this paper, we propose a new method of DOA estimation in the dipole array antenna by using the method of moment(MoM) to compensate the mutual coupling effects between array antenna elements. Also, the proposed method is applied to the estimation of azimuth(
) and elevation(
) angles using uniformly linear dipole array under noisy environments.
A Method for Reduction of Spurious Signal in Digital RF Memory

In this paper, a method for reduction of spurious signal in Digital RF Memory(DRFM) is proposed. Spurious response is a major performance issue of DRFM. This method is based on mixing a random phase LO signal into input IF signal and sampling it. The random phase LO signal is generated by high speed phase shifting characteristic of Direct Digital Synthesizer(DDS). Through this technique, we achieved an enhancement of 5~10 dB of spurious response.
Insertion Loss Characteristics of a Parallel Two-Wire Transmission Line with Equal Line Length Due to a Rectangular Aperture Sizes in Dual Ground Planes

This paper presents two ground plane effects due to the size of two rectangular apertures for two-wire transmission line with equal line length crossing the changeable rectangular apertures in infinite ground planes. The CST MWS is used to determine the characteristics of the insertion loss of the transmission line from the load section in accordance with the ground plane aperture size. The results show that the insertion gain and the insertion loss are periodically observed for the multiple frequency of the half wavelength resonance by the wire length when the transmission line is nearby to horizontal side or vertical side of the aperture. The measurements of the insertion loss are performed to verify the theoretical analysis.
Design of a Microwave Bias-Tee Using Lumped Elements with a Wideband Characteristic for a High Power Amplifier

In this paper, a design of high current and broad-band microwave bias-tee was presented for a stable bias of a high power amplifier. An input impedance of bias-tee should be shown to 50 ohm with the wideband in order to be stably-biased the amplifier. For this design of the bias-tee, a capacitor of bias-tee for a DC block was designed with a high wide-band admittance by a parallel sum of capacitors, and a inductor for a RF choke and a DC feeding was designed with a high wide-band impedance by a series sum of inductors. As this inductor and capacitor for the sum has each SRF, band-limitation of lumped element was driven from SRF. This limitation was overcome by control of a resonance's quality factor with adding a resistor. 1608 SMD chips for design's element was mounted on the this pattern for the designed bias-tee. The fabricated bias-tee presented 10 dB of return loss and wide-band about 50 ohm input impedance at 10 MHz~10 GHz.
Design of an Offset Interdigital Filter Based on Multi-Port EM Simulated Y-Parameters

In this paper, we present a design of a 5th order Chebyshev interdigital band-pass filter using inverter and susceptance slope parameter values obtained from EM simulated multi-port Y-parameters. The shifted length of the resonator is determined when the frequency of the transmission zero is separated far away from the center frequency. For the initial dimensions of the interdigital filter, the filter is decomposed into the individual resonators, and the dimensions are obtained using EM Simulation of the decomposed resonators. However, the interdigital filter with the dimensions determined from the EM simulation of the decomposed resonators shows slightly distorted response from the desired frequency response due to the coupling between non-adjacent resonators. To obtain a EM simulation dataset, EM simulation for this filter is carried out by parameter sweep with constant ratio for the initial values. In this dataset, it is determined the final values for the filter by optimization. The fabricated filter by PCB shows an upper-shift of center frequency of about 70 MHz, which was caused by permittivity changed and tolerance of fabrication.
Low Computational Algorithm of Soft-Decision Extended BCH Decoding Algorithm for Next Generation DVB-RCS Systems

In this paper, we proposed the low computational complexity soft-decision e-BCH decoding algorithm based on the Chase algorithm. In order to make the test patterns, it is necessary to re-order the least reliable received symbols. In the process of ordering and finding optimal decoding symbols, high computational complexity is required. Therefore, this paper proposes the method of low computational complexity algorithm for soft-decision e-BCH decoding process.
Compact Orthomode Transducer for Field Experiments of Radar Backscatter at L-band

A study of miniaturization of an L-band orthomode transducer(OMT) for field experiments of radar backscatter is presented in this paper. The proposed OMT is not required the additional waveguide taper structures to connect with a standard adaptor by the newly designed junction structure which bases on a waveguide taper. Total length of the OMT for L-band is about 1.2
(310 mm) and it's a size of 60 % of the existing OMTs. And, to increase the matching and isolation performances of each polarization, two conducting posts are inserted. The bandwidth of 420 MHz and the isolation level of about 40 dB are measured in the operating frequency. The L-band scatterometer consisting of the manufactured OMT, a horn-antenna and network analyzer(Agilent 8753E) was used STCT and 2DTST to analysis the measurement accuracy of radar backscatter. The full-polarimetric RCSs of test-target, 55 cm trihedral corner reflector, measured by the calibrated scatterometer have errors of -0.2 dB and 0.25 dB for vv-/hh-polarization, respectively. Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar Antenna with Sum/Difference/SLS Channels

In this paper, development of the monopulse secondary surveillance radar antenna which can be used for IFF system is presented. This antenna that is passive linear array is comprised of the row-feeder and several array-elements. The row-feeder provides sum, different and SLS(Sidelobe Supression) channels which are optimized the distribution of the power and phase ratio. The azimuthe sidelobe level of the sum channel beam pattern is -20 dBc or less. The SLS channel covers the sidelobe of the sum-chanel in the whole azimuth angle range. And the difference channel is used to perform the mono-pulse function, improves the detection accuracy in the azimuth direction. Meanwhile, the arrayelement makes shaped beam in the elevation angle, in order to eliminate the clutter and multipath effects from the ground. Performance of the antenna developed is verified by the measurement of S-parameters and far-field beam pattern, and satisfies all of the development specifications well.
Varactor-Diodeless VCO for Radar Signal Detection Applications

In this paper, we propose a varactor-diodeless voltage-controlled oscillator operating at X-band, and verify the possibility of applying to a receiver for microwave radar signal detection applications. The proposed VCO is realized by only single RF BJT device as a varactor diode is substitued by a intrinsic collector-base PN-junction of the active device which is used to generate negative resistance. The fabricated VCO meets the specification of the receiver, which has a 11.20~11.75 GHz tuning bandwidth with respect to the tuning voltage, 1.0~7.0 V, output power of 9.0~12.0 dBm and linear frequency tuning performance.
Hybrid Antenna for the All Band Mobile Phone Service Including LTE

In this paper, we designed and implemented a Monopole+IFA(Inverted F Antenna) hybrid antenna using the coupled feeding structure for the all band mobile phone. Studied antenna has wide band characteristics by the simultaneous operation both monopole and IFA under the coupled feeding structure. An antenna has designed PCB embedded type without antenna carrier component for the low in cost. Implemented antenna has within 2.5:1 for VSWR under LTE/CDMA/GSM900/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA/WiBro/WiFi in all band for the mobile services Measured average gains and efficiencies were -3.98~-0.09 dBi and 40.03~97.99 % for the LTE, CDMA, GSM900 band, and -3.90~-1.01 dBi and 40.70~79.31 % for the DCS, USPCS, WCDMA, WiBro, WiFi band. It's shown that studied antenna can be applied to all band mobile phone antenna including LTE.
