Application of the Worksheet for Economics Evaluation of Lighting Systems

It is important to decide the best beneficial lighting system in the space when we design the lighting at first stage. A Worksheet to simplify the evaluation of the economics of the lighting system was developed. And it was applied to a general office room for each lamp and ballast combinations, and to a factory room with a high ceiling for each HID lamp systems. When we design the lighting system using the Worksheet, we can easily evaluate the economics through converting the total cost invested on the lighting system to the present value or the annual cost.
Insulation rehabilitation of water tree aged cables by silicone treatment

This paper presents the results of performance evaluation of silicone treatment technique which was developed for the insulation rehabilitation of water tree aged XLPE power cables. We treated the water tree aged 325 [
] CN/CV cables with silicone, and then analyzed the degree of insulation rehabilitation as a function of time. AC breakdown test was conducted to evaluate insulation rehabilitation. The diagnosis test using relaxation current measurement and the characteristic analysis of insulation were also performed to estimate silicone treated cable. AC breakdown strength of silicone treated cable for one year was increased, resulting from the chemical reaction between silicone fluid and water. This experiment showed that the silicone treatment technique was effective for insulation rehabilitation of the water tree aged cables.

]/1.14[MHz] oscillating impulse voltages in the presence of a needle-shape metallic particle in gas-insulated switchgear(GIS). Breakdown voltage-time (V-t) and breakdown voltage-gas pressure (V-p) characteristics were investigated and discussed. The experiments were carried out under highly inhomogeneous field geometry with a needle protrusion whose length and radius are 10[mm] and 0.5[mm], respectively. The gas pressure ranges from 0.1 to 0.5[㎫]. As a result, it was found that the electrical breakdown for both the positive and negative polarity develops with steplike pulses in leader mechanism, When subjected to the positive oscillating impulse voltage, the minimum breakdown voltages appeared in all the gas pressure ranges and the V-t curves have a pronounced upturning at short times to breakdown and give a little dependence of the gas pressure. On the other hand, in the case of the negative polarity the dependence of the V-t and V-p characteristics on the wave shape of the applied voltages is known to be appreciable.
Modeling and Tuning of 2-DOF PID Controller of Gas turbine Generation Unit by ANFIS

We studied on acquiring of transfer function and tuning of 2-DOF PID controller using ANFIS for the optimum control to turbine's variables variety. Since the shape of a membership function in the ANFIS based on the characteristics of plant. ANFIS based control method is effective for plant that its variable vary. On the other hand, a start-up time is very short and its variable's value for optimal start-up in gas turbine should be varied, but it is very difficult for such a controller to design. In this paper, we tune 2-DOF PID controller after apply a ANFIS to the operating data of Gun-san gas turbine and verify the characteristics. Its results is compared to the conventional PID controller and discuss. We expect this method will be used for another process because it is studied on the real operating data.
The Stability Improvement of Brushless DC Motor by Digital PI Control

This study have established proper mathematical equivalent model of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor and estimated the motor parameter by means of the back-emf measurement as being the step input to the controlled target BLDC motor. And the validity of proposed estimation method is confirmed by the test result of step response. As well, we have designed the reasonable digital controller as a consequence of the root locus method which is obtained from the open-loop transfer function of BLDC motor with hall sensor, and the determination of control gain for variable speed control. Here, revised Ziegler-Nichols tuning method is applied for the proper digital gain establishment, and the system stability is verified by the frequency domain analysis with Bode-plot and experimentation.
A Study on Redundancy System for Fault Tolerance of PLC

Redundant programmable logic controllers are used in practice with the aim of achieving a higher degree of availability or fault tolerance. Redundancy system is fault tolerant programmable logic controller for machine and plant. It is event synchronized master-standby system with a 2 channel(1-out-of-2) structure. A data link connects line the master to the standby controller.Fault tolerant systems should always be used when it is necessary to keep the probability of a total control system failure to a minimum. The objective of using high availability programmable logic controller is a reduction of losses of fault tolerant system are quickly compensated by the avoidance of loss of production.
A Study on the variations of mechanical and electrical property of epoxy composites due to boiling absorption

In this paper, the variable mechanical strength and dielectric breakdown strength of epoxy composites were measured at boiling absorption condition in order to observe the influences of moisture in out door use. Also, in order to improve water resistance of matrix resin, IPN(interpenetrating polymer network) method which had been already reported, was introduced and the influence was investigated. As Adding filter(SiO2) classified by o[phr], 50[phr] and 100[phr] to two kinds of matrix resin, six kinds of specimens were manufactured. As a result, it was confirmed that the moisture absorption rate was increased and mechanical strength and dielectric breakdown strength were degraded with boiling time and filler content increasing. On the other hand, it was confirmed that moisture absorption rates were decreased and the degrading rates of mechanical strength and dielectric breakdown strength were lowered according to improvement of adhesion strength in case of IPN specimens.
Efficient Error Management Method in Process Control System Described by SFC Graphical Language

As the highly complex and precise control functions are required in modern industrial process control system, the complex function models and developed in each hardware and software of PLC. The SFC graphical language is very powerful for describing the sequential logic control algorithm, on the other hand it graphical language is very powerful for describing the sequential logic control algorithm, on the other hand it has problems in describing the interlock logic control algorithm, such as error management algorithm. In this paper, we propose the efficient error management method using the action qualifiers to design the error management algorithm in industrial process control system described scheme, we realize the error management logic in process control system of film coating machine.From the experiment results, we confirm that the proposed scheme is very useful in aspects to realize easily th error management logic and to reduce the memory capacity for user's program.

This paper describes the partial discharge due to particles in
gas. A model GIS chamber was designed and manufactured. The partial discharge and breakdown phenomena due to the particles between electrodes were observed and partial discharge signals were detected, using an ultrasonic sensor. The analysis of the electric field by the states of the particle inserted between the electrodes, were also carried out. The partial discharge was observed at end while the particle was moving in
gas. The partial discharge in micro-gap grows to arc, and after all, it can cause a breakdown.The electric field strength was the highest in case that the particle was vertically attached on the conductor, and the lowest in case that it was horizontally attached on the enclosure.

Converter with Auxiliary Switch

In this paper, We present a low cost auxiliary circuit of
converter with the feedback winding, which can improve the input current waveform with the maintenance of limited DC Bus Voltage and high efficiency. The converter with feedback winding was analyzed to demonstrate the proposed converter. Int order to verify the performance of the proposed converter, we designed the converter which operates at the output of 5[V], 65[W] and switching frequency of 100[kHz] within the universal line voltage. Implemented converter has decreased line current peak value by 50[%] compared with the conventional converters and the power utilization was increased in the line period.
Robust speed control of DC motor using Expert Sliding mode controller

Robust control for DC motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. Generally, it is known that sliding mode controller has robustness. But, after it is assumed that we known the disturbance uncertainty, sliding mode controller is designed. Thereafter, if we are not known th disturbance uncertainty then controller design is difficult. As a method solving this problem, in this paper, Expert sliding mode control method for motor control system is presented.The proposed controller can eliminate load disturbance effectively. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by simulation results.
Multi-channel Active Noise Control Using Subband Hybrid Adaptive Filters

In this paper, a multi-channel active noise control(ANC) system using subband hybrid control techniques is proposed. Subband techniques could reduce computational burden and improve the performance of ANC systems by dividing several frequency subband and adjusting adaptive filter coefficients. So it can effectively cancel noises at wanted frequency range and use lower order adaptive filter than the existing algorithms. The adjoint LMS algorithm, which prefilter the error signals instead of the divided reference signals in frequency band, is also used for adaptive filter algorithms to reduce the computational burden of the subband adaptive systems. To improve performance of the ANC system, a weighted hybrid control technique, which has weightily properties of feedforward control systems and feedback control systems, is applied. This algorithm shows higher stability and good noise attenuation property in broad band ANC systems. Computer simulations were performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Practical Study on Adjustment of Load Correlation Equations of Pole Transformer

This paper presents a result of practical study about the adjustment of load correlation equation for the load management of pole transformer. For adjusting the load correlation equation, we analyze the correlative relation between working electric energy[kWh] and peak load[A]. To enhance the accuracy of correlation equation, we classify the 12 representative area patterns. And then, we select the 24 sample pole transformer for each area pattern. For the reliability of the data using the load correlation equation, load management equipment is utilized for each sample pole transformer. Through the on-line data acquisition, we construct the database. For adjusting the load correlation equation, we consider the two points. One is the goodness of fitness for load correlation equation and the other is prevention of pole transformer damage due to the overload. Finally, we propose the correlation equation using the linear and quadratic equation all at once. Through the case studies, we verify that the proposed load correlation equation is reduced the error ratio than conventional correlation equation.
A Study on characteristic of a double resonant type high frequency inverter using Phase-Shift

A full bridge type double resonant high frequency resonant inverter to give VVVF function in the inverter used as power source of induction heating at high frequency is presented in this paper. This proposed inverter can reduce distribution of the switching current because of using the current of serial resonant circuit to the input current of the parallel one and this paper also realize the output control of independence irrespective of the switching frequency using Phase-shift. The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. Also, the principle of basic operating and the its characteristics are estimated by the parameters, such as switching frequency, the variation of phase angle (

A Study on the Characteristics of an Arc-Inducing Driven Rod with Needles

This paper describes the characteristics of a newly suggested arc-inducing driven rod with needles which could effectively spread out both the failure current with power frequency and the lightning current. The structural characteristic of the driven rod was that needles were attached on the surface of the conventional shaped driven rod and the driven rod with needles was installed inside of a copper pipe.As a result of analyzing the characteristics of this suggested driven rod when it was employed as the driven rod of an arrester in distribution system, it was verified that the primary voltage of the arrester was reduced by effectively exhausting the electrical energy since the arc occurred between the needle and the copper pipe.
