Development of Total-Luminous-Flux Standard Lamps

High-quality sumdard lamps of total luminous flux were developed to be used as a reference source for measuring light output of qJtical sources using an integrating sphere in the Iigbting industry. These standard lamps have the uniform spatial intensIty distribuuons and the stability better than 0.5 % for the bmning tirre of 100[h].100[h].
Development of Specular Reflector Design Algorithm Considering Reflected Light Distribution and Light Absorption by Lamp

Tbis topic is about the development of a 2-dimensional specular reflector design aid software. For a long and cylindrical shaped lamp with perfect diffusing smface, direction and quantity of reflected light flux from a specular reflector strip can be calculated consideJing reabsorption by the lamp itself. Assuming a reflector as a combination of several strip segments, the reflected flux is calculated as position, length and declination of each segment are detennined. At each step, calculated reflected flux distribution and desired flux distribution is compared graphically and numerically, so that roost optimized and efficient reflector shape can be decided by the designer. We think that this software would be useful for designing reflectors for relatively long light sources, such as fluorescent lamp, tubular high pressure sodium lamp, low pressure sodium lamp, and so on. so on.
A Study on the Discharge Characteristics of High Speed Addressing for the HDTV Class Plasma Display

The discharge characteristics of 3 electrcdes AC surface discharge plasma display were analyzed. For an unstable state of the discharge which appeared at the maximum discharge voltage, it is found that a parbal erase of the wall charge by the second discharge is a cause. Based on the second discharge, new operation margin considering the interrelation between the address discharge and the display discharge was defined and the validity of it was verified by the experiments. It is necessary to decrease the acklress pulse width for high-speed addressing. However, the operation margin of the ackIress pulse decreases as the pulse width of it becomes narrower. If the address pulse width is wider than l[ps], the operation margin of the display discharge is not related to the address pulse width. Incoherent Triangular Holography using Mercury Lamp

We presented a modified triangular interlerorreter as an incoherent holography, which can eliminate bias and conjugate image problems of the conventional one. Also, to demonstrate the feasibility of incoherent holograrphy, the formation of an incoherent hologram using a mercury lamp and its numerical and optical reconstructions were presented.sented.
A Control Circuit for Blinking and Color Variaton Operations of Fluorescent Lamps

In this paper, an electronic starter and controller are develor:ed for blinking and color variation oI:'||'&'||'pound;fations of fluorescent ]arrps, which would be suitElble for use in an advertising panel. The deve1oporl electrornc starters enable single-pulse ignition for fluorescent lamps of 2O-4Q[W] according to the start signal of controller, and the lamp life is e;.qxccted to go beyond 3,OCO hours with blinking o]:ffations for minimum 0.2[s]. Also, the controller based on a micro-controller can handle up to 128 fluorescent lanlpS and have ten modes of blinking pattems and 7-color variation mxles.
An Analysis of Luminance and Chromaticity on Outdoor Lighting of Historic Buildings -focused on Namdaemun and Kwanghwamun-

Recently, outdoor lighting of buildings has bemIre activated in national level of Korea. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the outdoor ljghting effect of historic buildings with particular reference to two traditional gates architecture - Namdaemtul and Kwanghwamun For the purpose, luminance and chromaticity of outdoor lighting are measured. The results of the study are as follows;
Outdoor lighting of the historic buildings were mainly illuminated by the floodlights. In addition, up-lighting and accent lighting were locally used.
Basements and rooflines were specially emphasized, and they represented the night image of historical buildings.
Chromaticity distribution of historical building was wlute during the day. However, it was yellow dL1Jing the night due to the color and color temperature of outdoor lighting.ghting.
An internal partial discharge measurement method excepted an external corona noise

The largest problem in applying the elecbical partial discharge measurement method the transformer that has been operated until now is the removal of external corona noise In this thesis, a methcd was studied. to rneasme only fue partial discharge sIgnal due to the defoct in transfonrer except the external corona noise. To find out the types of partial discharge and corona noise within a transfomr, a partial discharge was made in use of a needle-plane electrodes within a model transfonner and, at the same time, an external corona noise was generated in use of a rod-sphere electrcdes in the air around the transformer. Both of a partial clischarge signal caused from an intemat defect within a transformer and an external noise were found at the rogowski coil which was located at transformer earth wire. When the external corona noise, which was separately measured in use of an antenna sensor out of transfonner, was removed from the signal measured on rogowski coil, the signal caused by partial discharge within a transformer would effectively be acquired.quired.
A Study on Loss Analysis of ZVT-PWM Boost Converter using Quasi-Resonant Technique

Recently, DC-DC converters significantly increase the total losses as rising switching frequency. Trnditional soft switching technique for reducing switching losses even increase voltage/Clment stress of switch In this paper, Resonant circuit for soft switching is connected in parallel with power stage and only operates just before tum-on of the main sWItch. Therefore, ills doesn't affect the total circuit QI'||'&'||'pound;ration. The object of tIns paper is to make the linearized equivalent loss mxleIs. and to analyze the total losses by experiment. ZVT-PWlvI converter designed with 170-260[V] input, 400[V] 5[A] output, and 100[kHz] switching frequency is tested respectively with 500[W], 1[kW], 1.5[kW], and 2[kW] loads. The total losses in input 220[V], 2[kW] load are analyzed by usirm the linearized equivalent loss models.
An Algorithm of Diagnosing Eccentricity in Single Stand Rolling Mill

Ths paper presents an algorithm of detecting eccentricity signal and diagnosing the cause in rolling process. A designed technique uses only the outputs of load cell and tachorreter, which are generally utilized in rolling process, and need not any acklitional sensors. Detecting signals related to eccentricity is done by combining outputs of 6 digital bandPass filters whose center frequency are varied with roll's rotating frequency. A function of diagnosing the cause of occentricity from extracted data having occentricity components is implemented by defining reasonable variables. In order to show validity of an algorithm designed in this paper, simulation was accomplished for three groups. The first is that some portion of roll in the direction of roll circumference is distorted. The second is that rotating axis and roll center is not identical. The third is that composite cause is occmed Simulation results show that every kind of eccentricity can be diagnosed in terms of algorithm proposed.oposed.
Designing a Reaction Model for Ozon Contactor in Advanced Water Treatment Systems

This paper present a fuzzy mxlel of describing reacton features for ozon contactor in advanced water treatn-ent systems. Input and output variables are chosen by considenng the object of ozon processing and several parameters related to management of water quahty. Dissolved organic carbon concentration,
consumption are proposed as common variables in input and outp.lt variables. Furthermore own concentration, raw water's temperature and contact time are suggested as input variables, Membership hmctions for input variables have triangular type share and the grades in each lrembership function are determined by investigating process data gathered at pilot planl The decision parts of fuzzy model have linear combination form of input variables and coefficients included in such linear equations are computedd with process clata in the sense of least square error Also fuzzy trodel suggested in this paper is partitioned by 3 independent fuzzy rnxlels using the characteristics of having no interactions armng output variables. As a result, such fuzzy mxlel has rrerits in computation and comprehension. According to simulatIon results, fuzzy moIel's outputs give almost similar data to process output under same input conditions.
A Study on the Optimization of Power Transformer in Apartment Housing

To establish the optimized capacity of power transformer, this paper proposed the total demand factor of power supply facility. For this purpose, it was measured and analysed the operating pattern of power supply acility Installed in the apartment. As a result, it is found that the demand factor of each facility is following that : i) In case of [Xlwer water suwly facility ; 47[%], ii) In case of waste water facility ; 44[%]. Also, it was analysed that the optimized total demand factor of power load is proper 42[%1 than 52[%] to lead the efficiency operation.ration.
The Analysis of Partial Discharges Pattern using Discrete Wavelet Transform

This paper deals with multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD), composite discharge(corona + surlace discharge). Multiresolution analysis was used for performing discrete wavelet transform PD signals was decomposed into "approximation" and "detail" cOmpJnents until 4 levels by using discrete wavelet analysis. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. 1be results show that in corona discharge the segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 1] values of defined variable is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210~330 ranges. In case surface discharge in expoxy insulator inserted, defined variable values is fairly symmetric chscharge pattern because coupled both corona and dielectric oounded discharges. We can confimJly discriminate the type of PD source.
A Study on Characteristics Analysis of Time Sharing Type High Frequency Inverter Consisting of Three Unit Half-Bridge Serial Resonant Inverter

A high frequency resonant inverter consisting of iliree unit Half-Bridge serial resommt inverter used as power source of induction heatmg at high frequency is presented in this paper. As a output [Dwer control strategy, sequencial time-sharing gate contml methcd is applied. This methcd is TDM(Time Division Multiplexing), which is broadly used with digital and analog signals transmission in communication system 1be analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized pararmenters. Also, the principle of basic operating and the its characteristics are estimated by the parameters such as switching frequency, load resistance. Also, according to the calculated characteristics value, a method of the circuit design and operating characteristics of the inverter is proposed. This paper proves the validity of theoretical analysis through the Pspice. This proposed inverter show that it can be practically used in future as power source system for induction heating application, DC-DC converter etc. r etc.
Image Observation of NO Particles Using ICCD Camera

In this parer, the removal rate of NO in a reactor is rreasured first using nonthermal plasma generated from a wire-cylinder type reactor, then the discharge image and horizontal signal strength and vertical signal strength of NO particles is observed using ICCD(Intensified Charged Coupled Device) carrera It was fOlmd that NO rerroval rate was iflLTeased with NO concentration c1ecreasing, and that honzontal signal strength and vertical signal strength were also increased with NO concentration decreasing. Especially, this research is a1!Tffl at clarifying the discharge mechanism of NO particles by observing the images of AC discharge wnen the nonthermal plasma generated by an discharge was used.
The Propagation Characteristics of Electromagnetic Wave Radiated at Gap in Air and Insulator

In this paper, VHF( 30~230 [MHz] ) elecbwrognetic waves radiated fyom 며
jal discharge( PD ) at two-type electrodes in air are measured and the peculiar patterns of their spectra are reported. Also, the polarization and distance characteristics of electromagnetic wave radiated by PD, were investigated. In case of the epoxy msulator inserted, the noise level of radiated electromagnetic waves is 0.6~6.2 [dB] higher than the case in air below 90 [MHz] The frequncy spectrun distribution of radiated electromagnetic waves appears to be different in the whole frequency range according to the arrangmnent of antenna.
Intelligent Reclosing Scheme to reduce a Damage of Power Equipments

This paper presents an intelligent reclosing scheme to reduce a damage of power equipments in power distribution systems. As the number of reclosing shot increases, an power supply reliability is improved, but an impact of electric facilities by fault currents is accumulated. The proposed scheme determines the number of reclosing shots and its intervals according to ilie magnitude of fault current. Therefore, this scherre reduces a harm of electric facilities and muntains the power supply reliability. Case studies is performd to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme using field operation data.
A Study on the Analysis of Power Load Density and Electric Power Consumption in Apartment Housing
