We need to how about activity types, lighting conditions and physical features in a plate that is a object for the reasonable and economic lighting design. Thus, lighting designer analyzes spare features and completes lighting design by using luminaire that has a suitable luminous intensity distribution. There are special data in this study from analysing about activity types, lighting conditions and physical features of intelligent buildings that are getting an essential infrastructure in the information society. Intelligent building could be classified with office space, passing space, high ceiling space, one-side working space for the analysis. Also, four luminous intensity distributions and fluorescent fixtures, which are the mutt used luminaires in office building, are designed from the data of intelligent building.
Drive of induction motor using three-phase inverter and voltage type PWM single-phase converter
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 18~24
This paper deals with a three-phase Pulse width Modulation(PWM) voltage souse inverter-induction motor drive with a single-phase PWM converter. The single-phase system has the pulsating instantaneous power with twice the frequency of the ac source. The power pulsation generates the dc voltage pulsation of the converter. In result, the waveforms of the inverter output current and voltage are distorted. The steady-stare operations of the system are analyzed by employing a state-spare method Such everything confirmed it's validity throughout simulation and experiment.
Development of Ozone Generation Technology Using Gaseous Electrical Discharge for Environment Improvement
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 25~34
In this paper, discharge lamp ozonizer(DLO) of a new discharge type using superposition of gaseous electrical discharge for environment improvement was designed and manufactured. DLO is equipped with 3 electrodes(central ground electrode of discharge lamp type internal high voltage electrode of mesh type and external high voltage electrode of spiral type), and it is composed of double gap(gap between discharge lamp and internal electrode, gap between discharge lamp and external electrode). Internal and external electrodes are respectively applied AC high voltage which has 180[
] phase difference. Ozone is generated by overlaying of each silent discharge which is respectively came from two gaps. At the moment discharge characteristics and ozone generation characteristics of DLO were investigated in accordance with quantity of supplied gas, discharge power and the number of DLO. When ozone generated by DLO was in contact with NO gas, removal characteristics was excellent, so it confirmed that DLO could be used as air environment improvement facility.
Application of a Loop-Based Genetic Algorithm for Loss Minimization in Distribution Systems
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 35~44
This paper presents a loop-based genetic algorithm for loss minimization of distribution systems by automatic sectionalizing switch operation in distribution systems. Genetic algorithm can be successfully applied to problem of loss minimization in distribution systems because it is suitable to solve combinatorial optimization problems. New loop-based string structure is proposed for generating the more feasible solutions, and the proposed restoration function converts infeasible solutions into feasible solutions. The loop-based genetic algorithm with sam adaptations have been applied to improve the computation time and convergence property. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methodology using a 32-bus and 69-bus system.
A Study on Reinforcement Planning of Transmission Lines for Composite Power System
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 45~50
Fuzzy theory is used to quantify some subjective criteria and consider uncertain factors for transmission line reinforcement planning in this paper. Sugeno's fuzzy integral is also used in the proposed method, because it can be easily allied to multi attribute decision making problems such as power system planning. To verify the proposed algorithm, some bode-neck lines are searched for the case that the amount of Maximal Load Supplying Capability(MLSC) is small using the results of contingency analysis for Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO)'s 345[kV] transmission line in 1998. And several feasible alternatives are composed for line reinforcement which can dissolve the bottle-neck.
The effect of magnet fields on the corona discharge
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 51~56
In this paper, the effect of magnetic field on corona discharge phenomena was experimentally investigated in the needle-plate electrode geometry. Needle-plate geometry discharge system with magnetic field at a right angle to the electric field was made. The corona discharge characteristics with magnetic field were investigated and compared with the corona characteristics without magnetic field in atmospheric pressure. As a result, in case of positive DC corona discharge with magnetic field, corona discharge zone was significantly wider, corona current was lower, and breakdown voltage was higher than those without magnetic field. However, in case of negative DC corona discharge with magnetic field, corona current was slightly higher and breakdown voltage was lower than those without magnetic field. It is thought that this result is due to cyclotron motion of charged particles such as electron and ion by magnetic field.
A Study on Damping Improvement of a Synchronous Generator with Static VAR Compensator using a Fuzzy-PI Controller
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 57~66
This paper resents a control approach for designing a fuzzy-PI controller for a synchronous generator excitation and SVC system A combination of thyristor-controlled reactors and fixed capacitors (TCR-FC) type SVC is recognized as having the must fiexible control and high speed response, which has been widely utilized in power systems, is considered and designed to improve the response of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage A Fuzzy-PI controller for SVC system was proposed in this paper. The PI gain parameters of the proposed Fuzzy-PI controller which is a special type of PI ones are self-tuned by fuzzy inference technique. It is natural that the fuzzy inference technique should be barred on humans intuitions and empirical knowledge. Nonetheless, the conventional ones were not so. Therefore, In this paper, the fuzzy inference technique of PI gains using MMGM(Min Max Gravity Method) which is very similar to humans inference procedures, was presented and allied to the SVC system. The system dynamic responses are examined after applying all small disturbance condition.
A Detection Method of Resistive Leakage Current Flowing through ZnO Arrester Blocks
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 67~73
This paper resents a developed measuring device of resistive leakage current and a fundamental discussion of deterioration diagnosis for Zinc Oxide(ZnO) arrester blocks. We have developed the leakage current detection device for ageing test and durability evaluation for ZnO arrester blocks. The resistive leakage current can be used as an indicator to discriminate whether the ZnO arrester blocks is in good state or in bad. The resistive leakage current measuring system with the compensation circuit was designed and fabricated. The sauce tests for ZnO arrester blocks were investigated by observing the resistive leakage current together with fast Fourier transform analysis. The proposed monitoring systems for the resistive leakage current can effectively be used to investigate the electrophysical properties of ZnO arrester blocks in laboratory and to develop the techniques of forecasting the deterioration of ZnO arresters in electric power systems.
A Fundamental Investigation to Develope a Automatic Apparatus for Contamination Measurement
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 74~82
To reduce the maintenance expense and the possibility of electric outage and/or accident, which causes the decrease in stability and reliability of transmission/distribution line, most of all, accurate measurement for the degree of contamination should be preceded. But the conventional method (brush wiping method), which is recommended in IEC 60815, has sow significant problem in the aspect of man power, expense, error, and so forth. In this investigation, we purpose the development of a new type automatic measuring apparatus, which could measure the degree of contamination on the surface of insulator in outdoor condition. To design and evaluate the apparatus, a FLUX 2D is used, and various laboratory tests, artificial contamination tests, were carried to proof the actual performance. With the result of these effort, we can get the meaningful conclusion to develope a new type automatic apparatus for contamination measurement.
A Study on the Optimal Parameter Selection of a Power System Stabilizer by Field Tests
Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, volume 15, issue 3, 2001, Pages 83~90
This paper resents an algorithm for the optimal parameter selection of a power system stabilizer in a single machine-infinite bus system through the external equivalent transmission line. This method is one of the classical techniques by changing the PSS gain to allocate properly pole-zero positions. All the PSS parameters are obtained by solving a set of algebraic equations for the system constants depend on a variety of machine loadings and system external impedances, the natural oscillation modes, and the damping characteristics. And this algorithm was written in a simple software program using MATLAB.
