The Economics Evaluation of Lighting System Considering Maintenance Factor

Factors which affect largely the economics of lighting system, are initial installation costs, maintenance costs, energy costs as so on. In these costs, maintenance cost, lamp replacement labor cost, luminaire cleaning cost et al. so the economics of lighting system are evaluated different by maintenance planning. It is important to evaluate which lighting system would be economically advantageous in a initial design. In this study, the importance of maintenance factor is verified by the evaluations of the economics of lighting systems while maintenance factor is varied composition factors in ZCM which is used to calculate the average illuminance.
Measurement and Simulation of Interior Luminous Environment for the Decision Process of Building Remodeling

The make a decision for building remodeling, the economical value of the remodeled building should be analyzed and existing situation of the building system should be checked. For the energy issues related to the building remodeling process, careful diagnosis and re-designs of existing system should be proposed. In this research, the luminous environment for Seoul K Co. headquaters and Seoul S hotel were measured and then the re-design processes of building illumination systems were researched. With measured illuminance quantities of there cases, computer simulations for the existing situation and re-design were conducted.
The Insulation Characteristics and The Electric Field Anlaysis by Conducting Particle in

This paper describes the influence of conducting particle in the coaxial cylindrical electrodes under alternating voltage condition investigated using breakdown electric field and electro magnetics simulation method. Simulated particle-location in GIS chamber were the particle on electrode, the particle on enclosure and free moving particle. As results, it was founded that in case of breakdown electric field of the GIS chamber, breakdown electric field of particle on electrode was the lowest, that of free moving particle was middle and that of particle on enclosure was the highest. And in case of the electric field analysis with particle locations, electric field of particle on electrode was the highest, that of lifted particle was middle and that of particle on enclosure was the lowest. This results can offer a practical reference on the insulation design of domestic GIS.
AC Breakdown Characteristics of Pure Ar,
Gas and Ar/
Gas Mixutres under Uniform and Non-Uniform Fields

In this paper, the AC breakdown characteristics of pure Ar and
gas with gas pressure range of 58.8~137.3[kPa] under uniform and non-uniform fields were investigated, and the measured values were compared with those in Ar/
gas mixtures with pressure varying. Summarizing the experimental results, the breakdown voltages of pure
gas, under uniform and non-uniform fields, were increased about 4.8 and 1.1 times than those of pure Ar gas, and the AC breakdown voltage increased with the pressure increasing. The breakdown voltages of Ar/
gas mixtures were decreased with decreasing the mixture ratio of
gas. In case of Ar(85%)/
(15%) and Ar(70%)/
(30%) gas mixtures comparing to the pure Ar gas, the breakdown voltages under uniform field were increased about 1.5 and 2.1 times, and under non-uniform field were increased about 1.1 and 1.3 times at the pressure of 101.3[kPa]. Also, corona inception voltage of Ar(70%)/
(30%) gas mixtures under non-uniform field were increased about 1.5 times than those of pure Ar gas.
Improvement of Breakdown Characteristics Using Ribbed Spacer of GIS

This paper describes the effect of various conditions of the ribs on the breakdown characteristics when metal particle is attached to the spacer in GIS. More improved spacer shape in breakdown characteristics than conventional one is proposed by comparing the results acquired by varying location, length and thickness of the ribbed spacer. As a result, it was found that the electrical breakdown characteristics of the spacer with two ribs were generally better than that with only one rib or no ribs, and it was dependent on the rib length and rib thickness. Especially, it was also confirmed that the electrical breakdown characteristics were more improved by rounding the rib edge.
Narrowband Active Control of Noise in Thermal Power Plants

In this paper, a narrowband active noise control system to reduce the noise in thermal power plants is proposed. The narrowband active noise control system contains rectangular wave generator and has a multi channel feed forward adaptive algorithms which uses the adjoint LMS algorithm. Although the effectiveness have been proven in the filtered-X LMS broadband active noise control system, this algorithm has much more computational complexity than that of narrowband active noise control system. The proposed active control system that uses the adjoint LMS algorithm, compared to the previous broadband active noise control system, not only is more effective in controlling narrowband noise but also has a more stable structure. Adaptive filter contains the FIR structure and IIR structure for primary and secondary path models. The simulation proves the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
A Comparative Study on the Bus Voltage Control Effect of STATCOM and UPFC in Power Flow Analysis of Power Systems

This paper presents an comparative study on the effect of STATCOM and UPFC to power flow analysis of power systems. The effect of STATCOM can be analyzed with PSS/E program which is generally used in power system analysis, while UPFC model for power flow analysis is not provided yet. Thus, UPFC is equivalently represented as a synchronous condenser and load, while the active and reactive power of the specific transmission line and the voltage of the bus is controlled appropriately. This procedure is implemented by IPLAN which is an external macro program of PSS/E. The simulation results show that UPFC is more effective to control the bus voltage than STATCOM, because UPFC can control not only the bus voltage where the parallel inverter is installed but also the active and reactive power flow in the transmission line where the series inverter is installed.
A Study on the Supply Gas Temperature Characteristics of Silent Discharge Type Ozonizer by Applying Radio Frequency Voltage

In this paper, a co-axial cylinder type ozonizer using silent discharge applying radio frequency voltage known as an ozone generation was designed and fabricated. A cooling system was installed to investigate the characteristics of ozone generation in accordance with temperature change of the supplied gas known as an important factor. The characteristics of ozone generation were investigated in accordance with the change of cooling temperature.
Development of Digital Type Battery Charger based on Milti-Mode Control

Most of the battery charger for electric powered forklift truck are controlled by the method of 3-phased constant current and constant voltage controls. However, these chargers have several disadvantages like a large charger capacity, and a short battery life time. To eliminate the weak points, a digital type battery charger based on multi-mode control adding a constant power control and several assistant controls in the conventional control is presented. The whole control system is performed by a low cost 8 bit one-chip micro-controller and completely digitize. So, we can get a high precision control and a good reliability.
A Study on Optimum control for Inrush current of Microwave Oven using Statistical Method

Magnetic flux saturation dependent on phase of initial input power to high voltage transformer used in Micro wave oven. To limit inrush current high voltage transformer the relay contact should be ˝ON˝ when the lowest point of input voltage phase. The improved circuit is form compensating interrupt signal Micom input so the relay contact can be ˝ON˝ when the inrush current is lower. Test results are presented that improved circuit satisfies the limit 50[A] of requirement for input voltage variation mode. And the result verified by statistical method.
Development of Diagnostic Algorithm and Expert System to diagnose Power Transformers by the methods of Gas Analysis

This paper describes the new algorithm method for detecting abnormal causes within power transformers. Generally, the gas analysis has been proved the most confident method of many transformer diagnostics. The proposed algorithm is adapted to the international codes of IEC, Dornenburg, Gas Pattern including the DEPCO´s gas analysis method for the improvement of diagnostic efficiency. Specially, this algorithm is programmed by the tool of Element Expert developed Neuron DATA Inc. in USA. Also, it was confirmed that the developed algorithm is proved the confidence by the use of real data in fault power transformers.
A Study on the Countermeasure and the Effect of Countermeasure about Trouble-Examples by Noise in Plants

This paper represents the analysis and countermeasure about the causes of various trouble-examples by the noise in plants. These kinds of troubles came out the mis-operation and damage in various kinds of operating-facilities. The cause-analysis is following as: 1) the inappropriate-applications of protection devices installed to protect the noise. 2) the causes of voltage difference in separate ground systems. Therefore, To resolve the noise problems in plants, This paper proposed the two kind solutions to a problem. 1) The installation of appropriate noise protection devices and 2) The organization of equal-voltage by the common grounding system.
A Study on the Optimal Parameter Selection of a Power System Stabilizer for HVDC Linked System

Power system stabilizer act efficiently to damp the electromechanical oscillations in interconnected power systems. This paper presents an algorithm for the optimal parameter selection of a power system stabilizer in two-area power systems with a series HVDC link. This method is one of the classical techniques by allocating properly pole-zero positions to fit as closely as desired the ideal phase lead between the voltage reference and the generator electrical power and by changing the gain to produce a necessary damping torque over the matched frequency range. The small signal stability and transient stability studies using the PSS parameters obtained from this method show that a natural oscillation frequency of the study case system is adequately damped. The simulation used in the paper was performed by the Power System Toolbox software program based on MATLAB.
Hybrid Fuzzy Controller for High Speed and High Precision Control of Auto-Equipments

This paper proposes the hybrid fuzzy control system for fast response time and precision control of auto-equipment which exist disturbance, parameter alteration of system, uncertainty. The purposed system, which provides the improvement in terms of the control region in high speed and precision control, first used the fuzzy control method for fast response time and when the error reaches the preset value, used the frequency-locked method for precision control. The theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out. The presented results from the above investigation show considerably improved performance in the position control of auto-equipment.
A Study on the Development and the Application of Reducdant Digital Excitation System for the Power Plants

Many power plants in the thermal and hydraulic utilities, the pulp and the paper industry are faced with high maintenance and down time due to the aged excitation system. For the life extension of the aged power plants, the static excitation system of triple module redundancy type had been developed by KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute). This paper will discuss the design conception and the application results of system which includes the power control devices(thyristors, GTO), power potential transformer(excitation transformer) and triple module redundancy controller(voltage regulator).
