A Study on the Illuminance Recommendations for a Museum Storage Area

Museum storage area is one of the most important places because collections are central to museums. However it is often misunderstood and treated as the storage areas of general office buildings md factories. In this paper, lighting design factors for museum storage areas are reviewed, and illuminance values for the various storage areas of the KS and the other countries＇are compared and discussed in consideration of collections＇ management and conservation. And paying our due regard to collections management it is found that the standard illuminance value for museum storage area of the KS is lower than those of the other storage places. Therefore it is raised to 200［㏓］and supplementary lighting which can be controlled separatedly should be provided to increase the illuminance of task lighting.
Alternately Zero Voltage Switched Forward, Flyback Multi－Resonant Converter Controller

In the resonant converters which can provide high efficiency and high power density, the resonant voltage stress is about 4-5 times the input voltage. It needs the power switch with high ratings. This is a reason why the conduction loss is increased. In this paper, it proposes the alternately zero voltage switched forward, flyback multi resonant converter topology for reducing the voltage stress using alternately zero voltage switching technique. And the proposed AT forward MRC is experimentally considered about the loop gain with HP4194A network analyzer.
Modeling and Detent Torque Hormonic Analysis of Hybrid Type Step Motor

This paper did the study target for modeling, characteristics analysis and harmonic reduce with the detent torque of a 4 phase and 5 phase hybrid type step motor. For this, it was attempted to derive the mathematical modeling and used the permeance method for flux field analysis. Through this analysis result, this paper acquired the detent torque of this model. To compare the characteristics analysis of phase difference with two motors structure it have obtained to derive the operating detent torque with this model. Here, 5 phase motor has known the harmonic reduce of detail torque compare with 4 phase motor. Also, that has showed to improved the step response. The analysis result has represent the effect that a fundamental component of the permeance distribution produces the average torque and that harmonic components produce the ripple torque.
A Study on Over Current Protection Method of Unified Power Quality Conditioners

A protection scheme for Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is presented and analyzed in this paper. The proposed UPQC has the series active power filter operated as a high impedance k(
) to the fundamentals when the over current occurs in the power distribution system, and three control strategies are proposed in this paper. The first is the method by detecting the fundamental source current through the p-q theory,［1］ the second is the method by detecting the fundamental component of load current in Synchronous Reference Frame(SRF) and the third is the method by detecting the input voltage. When the over current occurs in the power distribution system, the proposed scheme protects the UPQC without additional protection circuits. The validity of proposed protection scheme is investigated through simulation results.
A Study on the Diagnostic Method for Fault Prevention Of Metal Clad Switchgear Using Electromagnetic Detection Techniques

This paper presents the diagnostic method for fault prevention in metal clad switchgear(MCS) through comparison of signals before and after detecting the partial discharge using electromagnetic detection technique. Electromagnetic waves detected by antennas of the inside and outside of MCS are analyzed and compared by frequency spectrum analysis method which can estimate an insulation abnormality and normality of MCS. As a result of the experiment by the proposed method, we can detect the insulation abnormality as partial discharge in MCS and these results can be applied to preventive diagnosis of MCS.
Development of the voltage management recorder using o dual-slope A/D converter for power distribution lines

This paper describes the development of a new voltage recorder for the voltage management of power distribution lines. The voltage characteristics and measurement problems for the power distribution lines are analyzed and the functions required for the recorder are discussed. Applying a dual-slope A/D converter with low noise characteristics the voltage measurement algorithm, design and implementation for the recorder are discussed. Finally, the voltage variations of long-duration over-voltages or under-voltages, and short-duration temporary interruption based on IEEE 1159 are analyzed. It is verified with the experiment.
Fault Detection of BLDC Motor Using Serial Communication Based Parameter Estimation

This paper presents fault detection scheme of Brushless DC(BLDC) motor drive system by estimating BLDC motor resistance using motor input and output data which is transmitted from data acquisition board to host computer over serial communication channel. Since communication time delay has a serious effect on performance, we use periodic and fixed communication protocol. Hence, the delay time is priory known. Simplified BLDC motor model and recursive least square algorithm is used for estimating motor resistance. By experiment result, we confirm the proposed scheme.
Compensate Voltage Drop for Autotransformer-Fed AC Electric Railroad System with Single-Phase STATCOM

This paper presents exact autotransformer-fed AC electric railroad system modeling using constant current mode, and single-phase STATCOM(Static Synchronous Compensator) which has an effect on electric railroad system. An AC electric railroad is rapidly changing single-phase feeding electric power. To avoid voltage fluctuation under single phase loads, electric power should be received from a large source. The system modeling theory is based on the solution of algebraic. The AC electric railroad load model is nonlinear. Therefore this paper is considered nonlinear load using PSCAD/EMTDC. And the proposed modeling method is considered the line self-impedances and mutual-impedances that techniques for the AC electric railroad system modeling analysis, and that single-phase STATCOM can reliably compensate the voltage drop. In the case study, the allowance range of feeding voltage is 22.5∼27.5 kV, AT-fed AC electric railroad system circuit is analyzed by loop equation both normal and extension modes. The simulation objectives are to calculate the catenary and rail voltages with respect to ground, as the train moves along a section of line between two adjacent ATs. The results show that single-phase STATCOM can reduce the voltage drop in the feeding circuit and improve the power quality at AC electric railroad system by compensating the reactive power.
Maximization average torque control of Switched Reluctance Motor using least square method

RM(Switched Reluctance Motor)＇s Torque is generated by phase-current and inductance profile. A new analytical concept is proposed to determine the turn-off angle for maximization of the torque output. This paper describes a new method to maximization the average torque of a current control Switched Reluctance Motor. It is based on the simplified turn-off angle equation using least square method. Simulations carried out on a three-phase 6/4 pole SRM justify the algorithm is described. The suggested maximization average torque is verified by simulation in this paper.
The implementation of a low-power-consumptive OFDM LSI for the high speed indoor wireless LAN

OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)is a one of the nst promising digital modulation techniques adapted for Digital audio broadcasting or Digital TV since it is very robust against multipath fading channels. From 1997, since the OFDM technique was considered as the physical layer standard for the high data rate wireless LAN systems in the 5㎓ band, related studies have been studied actively. The key element to implement high data rate wireless LAN system using OFDM technique are IFFT and FFT modules. In this paper, new IFFT and FFT module are designed and implemented using current cut circuit based on the matrix-rounding process for the low-power consumptive operation and high-speed data processing. In addition to, we certify the available operation of the rounded IFFT/FFT module in the AWGN channel by using the BER performance simulation of IEEE 802.11TGa based OFDM modem with rounded IFFT/FFT module.
Optimum Operational Schedule for Cogeneration Systems using the Mixed Integer Programming

This paper propose a new mathematical modelling method about optimum operational schedule for cogeneration systems. Proposed algorithm solving the energy product cost function in this paper is very similar to the real model that is, proposed algorithm solve nonlinear type of real model using mixed integer programming based on the piecewise linear function while the conventional algorithms used before could not solve that kind of problems. The effectiveness of the proposed method is ascertained by the simulation results with varius case studies which are similar to real operation circumstances.
Assessment of System Stability via Loss Reduction in 154[㎸]System Supplying High Speed Railway

The purpose of this paper is to assess experimentally system stability of the 154［㎸］transmission system due to the current of the forthcoming AC High-Speed Railway (HSR) era. It introduces a simple method to evaluate the system stability. The proposed method also shows the relationship between stability and power losses, and the stability indices made by the numerical process proposed in this paper will be used to assess whether a system can be stabilized or not. This paper also presents the improvement of the stability via loss reduction using a shunt compensator. Reactive power compensation is often the most effective way to improve both power transfer capability and system stability. The suitable modeling of the traction power system should be applicable to the PSS/E. The proposed method is tested on a practical system which will be expected to accommodate the heavy HSR load.
An Effective Installation Method of lightning Protective Devices for Information and Communication Facilities

The AC power lines and signal lines of info-communication networks are muted on overhead poles and are exposed to lightning strikes. Due to the potential difference between groundings of the AC power lines and telecommunication lines, the electronic equipments connected to the telecommunication lines can easily be damaged by lightning surges. In this work, in order to develop the reliable ways to protect information and communication facilities from lightning surges, the reliability and performance of surge protective devices were experimentally investigated in actual-sized test circuit. The operation behaviors of surge protective devices against lightning surges from the AC power lines and telecommunication lines and the coordination effects of SPD installation method were evaluated. As a consequence, it was confirmed that the bypass arrester and common grounding system is very effective.
The development of LVI tester for application of transformers winding deformation diagnosis

The assessment of the condition of a transformer winding which is suspected of having suffered short circuit damage can be difficult. Conventional test such as winding resistance, magnetic current or insulation resistance will only detect damage if a permanent electrical fault exists. Visual inspection of windings necessitates the removal of oil and in many cases only a very small proportion of the winding can be seen. We describe the characteristic of LVI test system and methods to detect the deformation of windings in the power transformers. As the front rise time of recurrent-surge generator pulse less than 1000 ㎱ and the peak value of pulse is about 500 V, we have the good results of detecting winding deformation in the LVI test of transformers.
A Fuzzy Rule Extraction by EM Algorithm and A Design of Temperature Control System

This paper presents a fuzzy rule extraction method using EM(Expectation-Maximization) algorithm and a design method of adaptive neuro-fuzzy control. EM algorithm is used to estimate a maximum likelihood of a GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) and cluster centers. The estimated clusters is used to automatically construct the fuzzy rules and membership functions for ANFIS(Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System). Finally, we applied the proposed method to the water temperature control system and obtained better results with respect to the number of rules and SAE(Sum of Absolute Error) than previous techniques such as conventional fuzzy controller.
Adoptive IIR Fillers for Active Noise Control

The adaptive m filters is more effective than m filters when acoustic feedback exists, in which cause an order of a FIR filter must be very large if some of poles of the ideal control filter are near the unit circle. But the IIR filters may have stability problems especially when the adaptive algorithm is not converged. In this paper, a stabilizing procedure for adaptive IIR filters is proposed. In the beginning of the ANC system, it improve a stability by pulling the poles of the IIR filter to the center of the unit circle, and it returns the poles to their original positions after the filter converge. Computer simulations and experiments are performed to show the effectiveness of proposed schemes.
