Building can get absolutely different images by different building materials. In architectural design process, there are various kinds of simulation programs to prove visualized images. But since most of simulation programs are consist of data for building material informations produced at overseas, it is difficult to utilize them in domestic environment. In this paper, we collected data from domestic building materials and measured optical features which they have, and then suggested methods to arrange the database and made database from some of domestic building materials to develope Internet Web-based RADIANCE redering system
Missing Modes in Fabry-Perot Laser Diodes

Mode missing of Fabry-Perot laser diodes has been modeled using the time domain laser model(TDLM). Fabry-Perot laser diodes that have structure of ripple in the waveguide of active layer or defects inside the active layer were simulated. For accurate simulation, the nonlinear effects were included such as spatial hole burning(SHB) and gain saturation. From the simulation results, it was founded that the defect inside the active layer in laser diodes has a strong influence on mode missing rather than the waveguide ripple. A Study on the Analysis of Relations between Classroom Illumination and Variation of the Students` Eyesight and Improvement of the Classroom Illumination in Primary School

According to the recent investigation, the 4th grade students` eyesight weakness was occurred on a large scale in primary school. To improve the classroom illumination environment which affects students` eyesight weakness of the 4th grade student, an analysis of illumination environment and an eyesight acuity for the whole 4th year students was held. In four out of the whole classrooms, each improvement work in illumination has done using different types of luminaires. Re-test of eyesight was held for students who studied under the improved illumination environment for 10 months and students under the environment not improved. Comparative analysis of the results which was obtained from re-test and measurements was carried out. Consequently, influence on the eyesight variation by classroom illumination was analysed and the improvement of classroom illumination was researched.

This paper presents dimming control system for automotive 35[W] metal halide discharge(MHD) lamp electronic ballast using digital control method. HID system has been becoming increasingly popular due to its superior performance(high luminous efficacy, good color rendering and long life etc.)over the conventional halogen system. However, this lamp demands a highly efficient ballast and very complex control circuitry that can control complex transient state in applying to automotive. Therefore, in this paper, digital control method for the HID lamp ballast is presented for optimal control that can adapt complex transient state, steady state and various environments. In developed dimming system, the system is designed to control the lamp output voltage step by step using microcontroller according to cds sensor. Therefore the designed dimming control system give good driving condition to diver and realize the power control effectively. The results of the proposed system is verified through various simulation results and the experiment results.

This paper presents the minimization of the fuel cost by optimal allocation of P-Q generation in a three-bus sample system. Derivation of the system loss sensitivities by optimization technique is introduced. The loss sensitivities are substituted into the optimality conditions and the optimal P-Q allocation is computed to obtain the minimal fuel cost.
Influence of the Combustion Flames on the Flashover Characteristics of the Sphere-Sphere Air Gap

In this paper, reduction characteristics of the AC and DC flashover voltage in the horizontal air gap of sphere-sphere electrode system were investigated when the combustion flame was present near the high voltage electrode. The voltage and current waveforms were measured, when the flashover is occurred, in order to examine the flashover polarity by flame. An Analysis on the Effect of the PID Controller Design Due to Performance Index

Among various modern control theories, PID control has been well used for several decades. PID algorithms need some tuning methods which are used for selecting PID parameters. But in some cases various kinds of performance indices are used instead of well-known tuning rules, and so variable type of performance index must be tested so that controllers, output characteristics and disturbance rejection property meet some specifications. In this paper, linear conbinational type of performance index using error signal, time, control input and robustness is used to the PID control of air conditioning system. By use of the 2 DOF PID parmeters minimizing perfromacne index controllers, output characteristics and robustness properties are analyzed. Simulations are done by use of MATLAB with Simulink.

In this article, we apply the standard method of Lagrange multipliers to examine the algorithm in a recent IEEE publication which calculates the optimal generation for minimizing the system loss using loss sensitivities derived by angle reference transposition, and show that the two algorithms are mathematically the same.

In this paper, improvement method of control performance by a full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is proposed in the low speed range. Full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is the motor speed and the disturbance torque observer. The proposed algorithm is very stable in the low speed range about 1.9[rpm]. The disturbance torque in the motor drive system degrades speed control performance in the low speed range. The proposed algorithm estimated both motor speed and disturbance torque. The estimated disturbance torque is used as a feedforward value in output of the speed controller, As a result, it improves the response of load torque in the low speed range(1.9rpm).

This paper proposes a design method of PID controller for achieving the desired specifications in the frequency domain via the reduced model of a high-order model with time delay. The proposed method identifies the parameter vector of PID controller from a linear system that develops from rearranging the two dimensional input matrices and output vectors obtained from the frequency bounds. Four examples are given to illustrate the feasibilities of the suggested schemes.

In this paper, we perform the harmonic filter design for Incheon international airport, especially passenger terminal based on the results of measurement and analysis. Also, we show the waveform of machines which produce harmonics as a harmonic source. For harmonic filter design, we propose the APF(Active Power Filter) and ZSF(Zero Sequence Filter) design. Also, we simulate the filter effects using EDSA package. The results show the effectiveness of the method.
Behaviors of Impulse Ground Impedances Associated with the Current Injection Point in a Ground Rod

This paper presents the behaviors of transient and effective impulse impedances of a long ground rod associated with the current injection points. The laboratory test for the time domain performance of actual-sized model ground rod subjected to a lightning stroke current has been carried out The transient ground impedances of long ground rods under impulse currents were higher than the ground resistance. Both of the ground resistance and the effective impulse ground impedance decrease with increasing the length of the ground rods. Also, the effective impulse ground impedances are significantly increased in fast rise time ranges. The reduction of the ground resistance is decisive to improve the impulse impedance characteristics of grounding systems. When the test current is injected at the bottom of ground rod, the oscillating pulses with high frequency are included on the wave front of ground rod potential and the effective impulse impedances are higher than any other cases.
The Qualitative Analysis through the Investigation of the Field Condition at Street Lamps on the Main Street

When a heavy rain occurs, many electrical shock victims are produced every year because lamp poles are under water. In order to prevent electrical shock accidents at a street lamp, the investigation was carried out at real field conditions. The investigation was performed about the circuit configuration of a panel board, a wiring method, a grounding conductor, a lamp pole and so on. The related regulation was analyzed and the problems were presented. Also, the domestic and foreign things were compared and analyzed by the investigation of the field conditions, and the related standard was already revised. Through investigating the field conditions and analyzing the related regulation, it is intended to present the real data to establish more effective preventive measures against electrical shock accidents at a street lamp to be installed on the road. In the future, the analytical data can be applied to stabilize other electrical facilities on the road as well as a street lamp, and to reduce the electrical disasters.

Wind power and photovoltaic(PV) systems are getting into the spotlight as substitute energy. But problem is happened stability by speed change of wind and the power output of the sun`s ray. The power output amount according to velocity of wind power system. System breakdown can happen at change of sudden velocity, typhoon and night. This paper shows a automatic tail safety brake controller based on feedback control using wind velocity. The operation of automatic tail safety controller verified by manual test. PV system is a energy change system by temperature of sun`s ray and cell. Maximum power point tracking(MPPT) is used in PV systems to maximize the photovoltaic array output power. In existed PV system is low output and changeable DC voltage for boost and filtering the buck-boost converter use. But, this paper established deformed DC-DC converter. Changed Buck-boost converter`s unlined output current to line output current using DC-DC converter. This is effect that reduce ripple of output current. Proved through an output waveform comparison experiment. Finally, tail safety brake controller is established to wind turbine system for stability elevation and DC-DC converter is established on PV system for stability output.

Recently, harmonic problem affect a great effect on power system. Especially, Incheon International Airport is a very important place in view of safety and reliability of power. In this paper we measure the harmonics at incheon international airport, especially passenger terminal. With the results we analysis the results and propose the guideline of harmonic reduction method. To do this we compare various kinds of specification for harmonic restrictions.
Assessment of Customer Interruption Cost by Regional Groups for Macro Approach

Reliability of electric power supply by power system becomes major issue as the electric power industry is recently being regulated. Also a change of environmental condition related to power supply reliability should be considered in the view of power supplier since the competition between energy-industries is strengthen. In other words, because customers may choose other energy source instead of electric power due to an expensive energy charge, enhancing recklessly the reliability of power supply might not be an essential strategy. So to effectively cope with this problem, it is necessary to perceive the reaction of customers against power supply reliability and interruption cost. This paper evaluates the annual interruption costs of customers by regional groups in Korea using a macro approach to cope with these internal and external environment. That is, the each ratio of customer`s interruption costs to price of electric power charge is evaluated for public, service, agricultural, fishery, mining, manufactural, and residential consumption by every cities and provinces.
The Analysis of Fire Dispersion Characteristics of Vinyl and Rubber Cords Used Indoors

The electrical fire frequently happens through careless use such as poor contact, mechanical stress on power cord sets. In this paper, we simulated a wall-model in order to investigate the patterns of fire dispersion on power cord sets which consists of vinyl cord and rubber cord, etc. The fire progress and dispersive patterns were measured by a high speed imaging system(HG-100K, REDLAKE, USA). From the results, the fire pattern of power cord sets was progressed in order of flashover, scattering and disconnection. The short-circuit of the vinyl cords happened easier than the rubber cords by the external flame. In case vinyl cord is disconnected. the fire progress is not observed because the ignition energy decreases. Whereas, the fire progressed continuously in case of the rubber cord.

In this paper, we wrote about the basic experimentation of Optical CT`s temperature characteristic to measure high-current in a super-high-voltage electric power equipment which is using Faraday effect. Optimal Design of Axial Type Brushless DC Motor Using 3-D FEM

In this paper, an axial type brushless DC motor which has double rotors using rare-earth magnet pieces is designed. This kind of motor has shorter axial length and is easier to assemble than the radial type motors. To get enough torque, NdFeB magnet is used and for the cost of production, the magnets are segmented to rectangle or disk shape. To design this motor, a equivalent circuit is adopted and the air-gap density is calculated using 3D finite element method to get exact parameters. The design variables are optimized with genetic algorithm. From the results of the simulations, the reference of the axial type BLDC motors can be obtained.
A Study on Performance Requirement of I/Q Impairments for RF Implementation in W-CDMA User Equipment

This paper deals with performance degradations caused by RF I/Q impairments such as amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch in W-CDMA user equipment which uses QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. The impacts of I/Q impairments on the BER(Bit Error Rate) are analyzed by using the variations of adjacent symbol distance. The BER versus amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch with QPSK constellation is reviewed through Matlab simulation. Performance degradation produced by RF I/Q impairments is measured with the implemented RF transceiver and modulation/demodulation test equipments through EVM(Error Vector Magnitude). The minimum performance requirements of amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch in W-CDMA user equipment are presented from the point of hardware implementation and the test method of the impairments is also included.
Analysis of Volatage and Current Waveform Distortion Characteristics at Office Buildings

Nonlinear electronic loads used at office buildings distort the voltage and current waveform that cause the overheating of transformer losses, ELB(Electrical Leakage Breaker) tripping, and so on. This paper analyzed waveform distortion characteristics at several once buildings by comparing with magnitude of voltage and current harmonics, crest factor of voltage and current, phase voltage and current unbalance. As a consequence, severe current waveform distortion in phase and neutral line by harmonics and high current unbalance rates by unbalanced using of single loads among the three phases are investigated. The results of the study can be used in making decisions regarding reasonable and economical operating of loads at office buildings.

This paper concerns developing a real time on-line light facility management system using internet and building a database system for control box and street light. Also, we designed the system to minimize the disparity with the conventional management system by referring to an old management ledger format. Thus, the proposed method may enable the system manager to administer the light facility efficiently and to reduce manpower and maintenance cost.
Development of the New Hormonic Eliminating Device Using Zig-Zag Connection and Open-Delta Mode

The conventional harmonic filters to reduce zero harmonic current from neutral reactors and Zig-Zag connection, have several disadvantages of the decreased reduction rate of harmonics under a light load, because they have the load factor-dependent reduction rate of harmonics, and the risk of potential breaking in the neutral line by heated neutral reactor. Based Zig-Zag connection and Open-Delta mode, this new harmonic eliminating device (HANOS) adopts the combination of Zig-Zag connection and Open-Delta mode-the latter is additionally applied to the transformer`s core block for connection to the neutral line. The results of this study demonstrated that the new device could eliminate safely zero harmonic current running in the neutral line without heating.
Improvement of the Response Characteristics Using the Fuzzy-PLL Controller

This paper proposes the fuzzy-PLL control system for fast response time and precision control of automation systems. The conventional PLL has not only a jitter noise caused from such a demerit of the wide dead zone, but also a long delay interval that makes a high speed operation unable. In order to solve the problems, the proposed system, which provides the improvement in terms of the control region in high speed and precision control, first used the fuzzy control method for fast response time and when the error reaches the preset value, used the PLL method designing new PFD for precision control. The new designed multi-PFD improves the dead zone, jitter noise and response characteristics, which is consists of P-PFD(Positive edge triggered PFD) and N-PFD(Negative edge triggered PFD) and can improve response characteristics to increase PFD gain.
Development of Web-based Light Facility Control Management System

In this paper, A web-based server system was developed based on PDA(Personal Digital Assistants) for controlling and managing light facilities on-line with wireless communication efficiently. The control box of current light facilities may be implemented based on simple operational function. The operational quality of the light facilities will be efficiently improved with some practical advantages such as reduction of required facility, manpower and time in managing the lights and control boxes by using the popular PDA.
