Energy Saving Type OF-LED Illuminated Display Board System with MPPT and CCVC Algorithms

This paper studies the OF-LED(Optical Fiber-LED) illuminated display board system for energy saving. The OF-LED illuminated display board system has PV module, batteries, charge 8t discharge system and dynamic full color display controller. Both maximum power point tracker (MPPT) and constant current & constant voltage controls (CCVC) are used to govern the charging system. This system. improves the charging efficiency of battery. The system is compact and operates only by PV except the rainy days when the sun is unfavorable. in the system display control and charging-discharging control by on-chip microprocessor are simultaneously carried out. To verify the unposed system, me simulation and experiment results show the operating characteristics with a laboratory prototype.

When a light is projected upon a material, part of its radiant energy is absorbed and the rest is reflected or transmitted according to the nature of the material. The molecules of the substance absorbing a light obtains the radiant energy to make thermal reactions or photochemical reactions. Specially, photochemical reactions by ultraviolet(UV) radiation brings about photochemical degradation such as color change. Because the photochemical damage brings about a devaluation of material and once damaged, it is irretrievable, it is necessary to minimize the damage and conserve the native quality of a material by a protective lighting system. This paper presents the measurement and photochemical damage for UV radiation from light sources. We measured the optical radiations from artificial light sources and daylight, and we analyzed a functional relation between irradiance and UV radiation form the results.
A Design and Performance Evaluation of Differentiated Daylight-Glazing Systems

This research aimed to generate two points of daylighting application as follows: 1) providing daylight performance data with a variety of glazing materials for a large window and 2) designing and evaluating an experimental type of differentiated window. For this purpose, we compared the daylight and distribution performance of new defined type of window configuration to the conventional window counterpart with a variety of glazing materials. The comparison was made for a deep, south-facing perimeter zone with large window, without any interior obstruction. The conventional window is the base single homogeneous glass pane, where as the differentiated window uses of two different glazings; an upper daylight glazing with high visible transmission and lower view window with lower transmittal glass. The daylight performance data was translated into a ratio between outdoor illuminance and the interiors. The simulated analysis of the conventional window indicates that the interior light levels have been changed proportionally dependent on the transmittance of the applied glass. The comparison of daylight distribution analysis showed that the differentiated window has lots of photometric advantage by the optical function of upper daylight window. In particular, the contribution of higher daylight window into deep rear space must be stressed for daylighting application.

A fluorescent lamp which uses low pressure mercury-argon gas discharge shows the maximum current and minimum lamp voltage near 1(kHz) source frequency at constant power. For explain these phenomena theoretically, in this paper a atomic level discharge model was made and particle density and electron temperature variation were calculated using numerical method.

Thermal reactions by infrared radiation brings about physical damage by temperature rise process or temperature drop process of the material. In this study, a measuring system was set up to measure the temperature rise of each sample by infrared radiation from light source. And the temperature rise of the samples and amount of infrared radiation by various light source were measured with varying irradiance. On the basis of the result from the test, we analyzed a functional relation between infrared and infrared radiation.

A DC-DC converter is being widely used for various household appliances and for industry applications. The DC-CC converter is powered from single battery, and the voltage is varied according to the purpose. In the vehicle, various accessories whose electric power is different are being un4 Thus, plural number of DC-DC converter should be provided, so these situations bring complicated circuits, and accordingly, higher cost. Under such backgrounds, in this paper, we propose a novel buck-boost chopper circuit with simply configuration which can supply to two or more different output loads. The propose chewer circuit can control output voltages by controlling duty ratio by using typically two switching devices, which is composed by single boost-switch and single buck-switch. The output voltage can be controlled widely. A few modified circuits developed from the fundamental circuit are represented including the general multi-load circuit. And all this merits and appropriateness was proved by computer simulation and experience.

Measuring ground resistance is a typical way of performance evaluation of a grounding electrode. Among various ground resistance measurement methods, FOP (Fall-Of-Potential) method has been widely used, especially in case of a relatively large grounding electrode such as a substation grounding mesh grid Since FOP measurement line has to be increased as the size of grounding electrode increases, however, it is often that securing long enough FOP-line is practically impossible. In this paper, a sophisticated interpretation method of FOP measurement ma which is applicable to large grounding electrode networks, is presented.
A Study on the Improvement of Insulation cover for Instrument Transformer Used In Power Receiving System of Construction Sites

There are many risk factors of electrical shock caused by a minimum of protective devices, loose working environments, deterioration of installations at temporary power installations of construction sites. An insulation cover for instrument transformer(MOF) used in 22.9[kV] class power receiving system hasn`t shown good performance in terms of electrical safety because of short clearance between insulation cover and each input and output wire junction part. The insulation cover is easily moved by outside environment as wind or rain because of different size between insulation cover and busing, also can be leaded to breakdown by tracking. Therefore, we have proposed the insulation cover which effectively can prevent from electrical disaster in this paper, and a utility model patent had been registered already. To decrease the electric field concentrated on specific part, we had roundly designed the shape of insulation cover and the clearance between cover and live part was adjusted to be longer than the existing thing. The proposed insulation cover was evaluated by using the electric field solution program.

This paper describes the characteristics of effective impulse ground impedance of deeply driven ground rods combined with grounding grid or counterpoises with needles. The potential rises of the test ground electrodes were measured as a function of the rise time of applied impulse currents and the effective impulse ground impedances were calculated The impulse ground impedances of deeply driven ground rods strongly depend on the rise time of impulse currents and significantly reduced by the connection of grounding grids in parallel.

This paper suggested the other method of detecting and estimating of partial discharge for insulation diagnosis of GIS being insulation particle by measurement and analysis of radiated electromagnetic waves. From results of this study, it was confirmed that if the suggested method should be used for the diagnosis of insulation in the model GIS being insulation particle, detecting partial discharge and estimating discharge propagation will be possible.
A Study on the Development and Application of Digital Protective Relay for DC Feeding System of Light Rail Transit System

The DC protection and control device for the feeding system of a Light Rail Transit(LRT) system is developed. For the development, the short circuit characteristics in the system are analyzed. As a result a protection algorithm for the DC fault selective relay (50F) is newly proposed, and principles of the DC fault selective relay, Line Test Device (LTD), DC Over Current Relay (DC OCR) are introduced From the development, the specifications and codes used to be unclear have become clarified and summarized. Moreover, the methods to examine the protective characteristics and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) are established Finally, the performance and the effectiveness of the developed protective relay have been verified with the test based on IEC. For the reliability of the system, the relay has been installed and is being operated at the test track of the LRT system at Gyeong-San.

Recently, nuisance tripping or malfunction of MCCB(Melded Case Circuit Breaker) and ELB(Electrical Leakage Breaker) is being increased according as load circuits and equipments of electrical customers are various and complicated, but investigation of actual conditions on malfunction of MCCB and ELB was not implemented This paper investigated causes and influences of malfunction of MCCB and ELB by making up a question to electrical safety managers of two hundred and eighteen private electrical facilities. A Study on the Integrity Evaluation of the Windings in Cast Resin Transformers Using Vertical Thermal Distribution Analysis

This paper presents the integrity evaluation method of the windings in cast resin transformers using vertical thermal distribution analysis. The method is the result from comparing the temperature distribution in a sound condition specimen with that in the failure condition specimen layer-shorted by accelerated testing. The temperature distribution was acquisited by a infrared thermography system, and the Arrhenius equation was adopted to the accelerated testing. The proposed method may be available to detect the failures in cast resin transformers.

This paper addressed the issue of the three-phase load flow program for electric power distribution systems that include distributed generations. The equipment models were selected in order to consider imbalances among phases for the load flow analysis of distribution systems. Also, power equations and measurement functions are newly derived. The load flow analysis program developed in this paper was tested for the propriety of algorithm and convergence characteristics by case studies on test systems in various scales and types.

In this paper, Web server is built up using PXA255, 32bit RISC processor with porting Embedded Linux and GoAhead HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) web server, and the system which can monitor and control the environment and condition for AICC(Automatic Intelligent Cruise Control) is realized For sensing the operation condition and change of vehicle the desired data is derived by interfacing ECU(Electric Control Unit) and Embedded system and the rpm of engine is controlled by step motor connected to throttle valve.
A Nonlinear Speed Control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Using a Sequential Parameter Auto-Tuning Algorithm for Servo Equipments

A nonlinear speed control of a PMSM using a sequential parameter auto-tuning algorithm for servo equipments is presented. The nonlinear control scheme gives an undesirable output performance under the mismatch of the system parameters and load conditions. Recently, to improve the performance, an adaptive linearization scheme, a sliding mode control and an observer-based technique have been reported. Although a good performance can be obtained, the performance is not satisfactory any more under specific conditions such as a large inertia variation, a fast speed transient or an increased sampling time. The simultaneous estimation of principal parameters giving a direct influence on speed dynamics is generally not simple. To overcome this problem, a a sequential parameter auto-tuning algorithm at start-up is proposed, where dominant parameters are estimated in a prescribed regular sequence based on the method that one parameter is estimated during each interval. The proposed scheme is implemented on a PMSM using DSP TMS320C31 and the effectiveness is verified through simulations and experiments.

This paper presents the simulation modeling and analysis of variable wind speed turbine system(VWTS) using Psim program In the simulation, using the Vestas V47 VWTS located in Hangwon wind farm in Jeju-Do as a model, wind model, blade model, pitch control model and grided connected generator are modeled. The VWTS is controlled by the optimal pitch angle for maximum output power under the rated wind speed and for the rated output power over the rated wind speed. To verify the effectiveness of proposed method, simulation results are compared with the actual data from the model system According to the comparison of these results, this method shows excellent performance. So it is very useful for understanding and applications of wind power control system

In order to understand the effect of the mountain fire on the polymeric insulator for transmission lines, the author observed the deformation of the sheds of the polymeric insulators and the change of the discs of the porcelain insulators under fire, and investigated the electrical and mechanical characteristics of the insulators after the ignition test As the result the following conclusions were obtained. In this paper, we propose a diagnosis algorithm using fusion wかd based on PCA and LDA to detect fault states of the induction motor that is applied to various industrial fields. After yielding a feature vector from the current value measured by an experiment using PCA and LDA, training data is made to produce each matching value. In a diagnostic step, two matching values yielded by PCA and LDA are fused by probability model and finally verified. Since the proposed diagnosis algorithm takes only merits of PCA and LDA it shows excellent results under noisy environments. The simulation results to verify the usability of the proposed algorithm showed better performance than the case just using conventional PCA or LDA.
