A Study on the Lighting Component of Marine Lattern using Light Emitting Diodes

The advantages of LED(Light Emitting Diode) are low electric power consumption long life time and excellent visibility. In order to design and develope the marine lantern using LED, technical trends and standards about the marine lantern were analyzed and sample products were manufactured and evaluated in comparing with existing marine lantern The performance of developed LED lantern is better than that of the existing marine lantern using an incandescent lamp. The electric power consumption of our products is 30[%] and the luminous intensity is two or fen times brighter than existing marine lantern.
Luminous Characteristics of Bridge's Nightscape across the Han River

This study aims to analyze the illumination effects of bridges across the Han River. For the purpose, 8 bridges were selected. Field survey and measurements were performed, and the physical values such as luminance, color temperature and chromaticity were measured by Radiant Imaging Prometric 1400 Color. The results of the study are as follows; (1) Metal halide lamp, sodium lamp and LED(Light Emitting Diode) of various colors, are used in illuminating the bridges and create color contrasts and color changing by color filters. (2) Luminance contrast of the illuminated bridges affects 'modeling' and 'spare sense' of bridges, and it might improve people's preference and impression. (3) Color temperature of the illuminated bridges is influenced by 'color of bridge', 'material of bridge' and, 'color temperature and color of light sources'. (4) 'Structure of bridges' and 'luminaires' influence on the physical feature of the bridges. Especially, illumination of the bridges shows resemblant patterns by 'structure of bridges'.
Capacitively Coupled Radio Frequency Discharge System for Excitation of Gas Laser

The ccrf-discharge has in comparison with the hollow-cathode discharge and DC-discharge some advantages: Simple design of the tube and homogeneous plasma. The ccrf-discharge was researched with the goal, to use on the excitation of the gas laser. In this work a rf-exciting system was planned and developed. With it a homogeneous discharge was produced in the cw operation. To supply the rf-power with the frequency 13.56[MHz] effectively in the discharge, laser tube were used with inner diameter of 5[mm] and the specially developed rf-electrodes. A matching circuit was composed also. Thereby the impedance of the discharge tube was adjusted to the 50[
] output resistance of the rf-source.
The Fundamental Research for Discomfort Glare Evaluation of Building Interior Artificial Illumination

Evaluating comfort of illumination environment of building interior is recognizing the degree of glare causing discomfort. Currently, to use the experimental formula for discomfort glare studied abroad it would be not appropriate because each races feel about the degree of glare differently. Therefore, this study aim to make up prediction formula for evaluating discomfort glare reasonably from Koreans' vision and it proceeded with 4 stages as follows: First, after reviewing the existing discomfort glare evaluation formula, I selected experimental variables. Second, I made a mock-up that I can control experimental variables and conditions according to the purpose of this study. Third, 1 conducted discomfort glare evaluation experiment. Finally, compared with UGR evaluation method suggested for Westerner in prior studies. In conclusion, 1) it's proved that discomfort glare is influenced highly by a light source luminance, background luminance and location of testee and the line of vision. 2) In interior discomfort glare experiment whether the glare light source is placed within range of vision or not has more significant influence than the distance between the light source and testee. 3) I compared and analyzed with UGR, the most representative discomfort glare evaluation system and I found there is a little difference in the results. This shows discomfort glare of Koreans and Westerners are different.
The Characteristics Analysis of New Dc 48[V] Telecommunication Power System using Forward Type three Phase Rectifier

This paper proposed power system for new DC 49[V] telecommunication using forward three-phase PWM rectifier power factor and efficiency for improvement of ripple voltage. Proposed power system for DC 48[V] telecommunication that consists of power conversion devices including switch, inductor and condenser were made between each line, in power inverter device of each switch control turn-on in period of continuity time control to get power factor '1' of sine wave current and on-off of switch lessens peak current that was happened and got conversion efficiency 92.1[%] composing in PWM rectifier of forward form instead of general PWM rectifier. Also, harmonic input regulation value(IEC61000-3-2 Class-As) satisfy input current and reduce ripple factor of output voltage in state that distortion of three-phase supply is overlapped each other.
Hormonic Evaluation of An Imported IAT(Intra Airport Transit) System in Incheon International Airport

This paper presents harmonic evaluation of an IAT(Intra Airport Transit) system in Incheon International Airport. It will be used for electric vehicles with 80[kW] per car produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, and which is constructed with SIV(Static Inverter), VVVF controller and two induction motor. The vehicles operated in the IAT system can be treated as rapidly changing DC loat and at a feeding substation, 3-phase electric power is transferred to DC 750[V] by rectifier. Since vehicles are changing continuously, the voltages for the load fluctuate in the IAT system, and moreover, the voltage fluctuation generates high-order harmonics. It results the difficulty in maintaining power quality in KEPCO systems' side. The power quality of the IAT system in Incheon International Airport is evaluated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulator in the paper. The THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) of voltages and TDD(Total Demand Distortion) of currents, indices are calculated for the IAT system using the results of PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulation.
Sensorless Precision Speed Control of PM BLDC Motor

This paper studies particularly applicable method for sensorless PM BLDC motor drive system. The waveform of the motor internal voltages(or back emf) contains a fundamental and higher order frequency harmonics. Therefore the third harmonic component is extracted from the stator phase voltage. The resulting third harmonic signal keeps a constant phase relationship with the rotor flux for any motor speed and load condition. Also because of low resolution of estimated signal obtained by the proposed sensorless algorithm, to improve the wide range of speed response characteristic more exactly, we propose the rotor position signal synthesizer using PLL circuit based on estimated signals. Some experimental results are provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed control method.
ANN Sensorless Control of Induction Motor Dirve with AFLC

This paper is proposed for a artificial neural network(ANN) sensorless control based on the vector controlled induction motor drive, or proposes a adaptive fuzzy teaming control(AFLC). The fuzzy logic principle is first utilized for the control rotor speed. AFLC scheme is then proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed using fuzzy logic. Also, this paper is proposed for a method of the estimation of speed of induction motor using ANN Controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. This paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.
Transient Ground Impedances According to Shapes of Grounding Electrodes

This paper presents the transient behaviors of grounding system impedance against lightning impulse currents. The dynamic characteristics of the deeply driven ground rod and grounding grid subjected to the impulse current were investigated. The transient ground impedance strongly depends on the configuration and size of grounding electrodes and the shapes of impulse currents, and the inductance of grounding electrodes has a significant affect on the transient ground impedance of grounding system Also, the deeply-driven ground rod was effective to reduce the transient ground impedance in time domain of miceroseconds.
Fundamental Research on the Substitution Earthing Electrode for the Foundation of Building

The electrical characteristics of concrete block including a reinforcing rod in the foundation of the housing was fundamentally reviewed. It was tried to apply the substitutional earthing electrode in the foundation of the building. In order to identify the difference in the earthing resistance between mortar block and concrete block model, those models including a reinforcing rod in their inside were prepared and investigated for the earthing resistance. In results, the earthing resistance was largely affected by the block's resistivity compared to the change of resistance in reinforcing rods and the ground resistivity.
The Heating Characteristics of Electric Bare Wire Melted by AC Current

For a fire cause judgement this paper describes the heating characteristics of electric bare wire melted by AC current. The cower wires prepared for the experiment were 1.2[mm], 1.6[mm], and 2.0[mm] in diameter. Through the cross section analysis(CSA), it was confirmed that the dendrite structure grew at the angle of about 40[
] or 60[
] when the fusing current was applied to the wires. The larger the fusing current is, the more decreased the growth angle of the dendrite structure is. It was confirmed that the dendrite structure was arranged like the columnar structure.
Characteristics of lightning Impulse Corona Discharges in SF

This paper presents experimental results relating to the preliminary breakdown characteristics in
gas mixtures under a highly non-uniform electric field. The impulse pre-breakdown developments are investigated by the measurements of corona current and light emission images. As a result, the preliminary breakdown development mechanisms for both the positive and negative polarities were fundamentally same. The first streamer corona was initiated at the tip of needle electrode, and the leaders developed with a stepwise propagation and bridged the test gap. The pause time of leader pulses in the positive polarity was significantly shorter than that in the negative polarity. Also, the time interval between the first streamer corona onset and breakdown in the negative polarity was much longer than that in the positive polarity. The discharge channel path in the positive polarity was zigzag, and the leader channel in the negative polarity was thicker and brighter than that in the positive polarity.
Time-varying Harmonics Measurement and Assessment of the Electric Arc Furnace Loads

Large steel industries have nonlinear loads including electric arc furnaces and harmonic field measurements have shown that harmonic content of a waveform varies with time. Since the large loads are supplied from the power system grid, it must be recognized that not only will the system of utility be impacted, but neighboring customer system could be impacted as well. In this paper time-varying harmonics are evaluated by international harmonic standards IEEE Std. 519 and IEC 61000-3-6 using a cumulative probablistic approach.

This paper presents the demagnetization and iron loss analysis of the single phase Flux Reversal Machine. It has a magnetic configuration similar to the switched reluctance machine but with multipole permanent magnets of alternate polarity on each stator salient pole embraced by concentrated coils. But it can be demagnetized by sudden over current and core losses increase because switching frequency is getting faster. This paper show demagnetization of permanent magnet and iron loss characteristic, and proposed a solution.
A Study on the Development of a Silencer and Noise Reduce for M.Tr Room

Relatively high noise emitted from Transformers of in-door-substation in urban area has become the target of public complaints and the frequency is on the rise in these days due to an extension of transformer installations and new establishment of substations. The noise consist of harmonics of a specific frequency of the twice of the electricity frequency(60[Hz]), which is hard to control by using the general sound proofing techniques. In this work, several effective methods were discussed for reducing the noise from a transformer, which is transmitted through explosion preventing shutter and air tunnels. By applying to the actual site, the effects of the methods were verified.

A novel high frequency insulated soft switching PWM DC-DC converter circuit is proposed and then it is achieved the high-efficiency. This converter does not use the o(citing current of a high frequency transformer but use inductance. Then it realizes a widely stable zero voltage switching operation with the use of a novel ON-OFF control method at synchronized rectification power MOSEFETs of the high frequency insulated transformer secondary. Therefore, it is brought over 97[%] measurement efficiency by proposed DC-DC converter.
The Development of Portable Digital X-ray Power Supply Unit for Emergency Medical Services

The existing X-ray generators are either ones which are settled at fixed places or ones which are movable to sick rum. Movable generators can be very useful according to the circumstances of patients, but there remains a restraint that AC220[V] in the hospitals must be provided. When examining a first-aid patient who stays distant from the hospital or when grouping patients caused by disaster, the services of doctors at emergency centers should be very restrictive. Hence, this study developed a portable digital X-ray power supply unit that are utilizable at the accident spot or in a moving ambulance. By using the nit, the information of patients can be transmitted to the emergency center on the spot and thereby doctors can make a correct diagnosis. The properties of the unit are as follows: First, portable batteries(DCl2[V]) are utilized as electric source for the wit. Second PIC16F84A is utilized as control circuit in order to guarantee considerable reliance and to provide various functions. This portable digital X-ray power supply unit is expected to contribute to the emergency medical service system to be more advanced.
A Study of Rotor Fault Detection for the Induction Motor Using Axial Leakage Magnetic Flux

The second part of paper related rotor failure is to evaluate that the axial magnetic flux measurement could be used as a tool of the condition monitoring system for the induction motor and to develope the diagnostic algorithm for the various fault in the electric motors. The magnetic leakage flux signal is captured by the flux coil located at the end of motor without the disturbance of the operation. And the signal is analyzed both time and frequency domain to detect the failure of the motor. Specific signature can be described in tin and frequency domain for each fault of the motor. The experimental test found that the rotor failures - broken rotor bar, broken end ing and rotor eccentricity, could be detected from the spectrum with high resolution. The method of detecting the rotor fault was found by analysing the specific frequency and the sideband of the rotor bar pass frequency from axial leakage flux spectrum. In addition the optimal flux coil and measuring equipment for the axial leakage flux measurement was verified and the diagnostic method for the detection of the rotor related failure was developed.
The Study of the Characteristics on Water Treatment Using Hybrid Water Plasma Torch

This research emphasis the commercialize and experiment in the quality of water treatment by making water treatment reactor. The hybrid water plasma torch used this research is excellent in tans of economical efficiency because of using existent neon transformer. Further more, It has excellent energy efficiency because it is manufactured by low electric power. Especially hybrid water plasma torch used this research has two filed of water plasma and inputs each strong point into the water. Following The data such as dissolved ozone(2.8[ppm]), hydrogen peroxide(100[ppm]), 2[PH], are very affordable data and immensely useful in sterilization. Those data have excellent result: perfect eradication of a colon bacillus within maximum 10 minute applying to sterilization processing of a colon bacillus.
