The emergency lighting plan for underground space should be done with consideration of characteristics of the space. In terms of utilizing the Depthmap program from the Space Syntax theory, it is possible to analyze space quantitatively. Integration and intelligibility are major induces of this theory and we can use them as emergency lighting design parameters. For this study, human behaviors and survivor's evacuation routes in fire emergencies are analyzed through literature review. Based on those results, this study suggests the methodology of emergency lighting plan in underground space.

In this thesis paper the effect that the change in the brightness of headlights has on a driver's perception had been researched. For this research, an indoor laboratory was constructed and designed. Then, a system to measure the reaction braking time of finding obstacle and the subject's brain waves after a moment of change in the headlamp's brightness was constructed. And before the real experiment was began, the trial experiment to decide test time, subject's rest time, detailed experimental steps, the headlamp's patterns of voltage change and an obstacle course was executed.

In this study, psychological assessment was carried out to investigate the driver's psychological characteristics by the change of the headlight. The participants were 20 men and 20 women in their 20s and thirty-two different conditions in combinations of waveform of light, voltage, and alteration time were used. The questionnaire for the assessment was evaluated by 8 subjective item and 5-point SD criteria of 19 pair's adjective. The results were as follows : 1. The assessment results from SD method indicated 4 factors by factor analysis, and it was shown that A waveform had significances in a sense of security and impetus and B waveform had a significance in a sense of security. The levels of the limitations for the voltage change were 12[V] in the factor of a sense of security and 11[V] in the factor of a sense of impetus for A waveform, 12.6[V] in the factor of a sense of security for B waveform. 2. The results of the subjective assessment showed that the limitation of A waveform's brightness change was 12[V]. Moreover, the limitations of voltage changes were 12.67[V] for B waveform brightness change, 12.12[V] for discomfort, 12.71[V] for darkness. And the limitation of C waveform's brightness change was 12[V].
Rotor Resistance Estimation of Induction Motor by ANN

This paper proposes a new method of on-line estimation for rotor resistance of the induction motor in the indirect vector controlled drive, using artificial neural network (ANN). The back propagation algorithm is used for training of the neural networks. The error between the desired state variable of an induction motor and actual state variable of a neural network model is back propagated to adjust the weight of a neural network model, so that the actual state variable tracks the desired value. The performance of rotor resistance estimator and torque and flux responses of drive, together with these estimators, are investigated variations rotor resistance from their nominal values. The rotor resistance are estimated analytically, using the proposed ANN in a vector controlled induction motor drive.

In this paper, a current-mode analog variable finite-impulse-response (FIR) filter with variable tap coefficient circuits is proposed for frequency selective wireless personal area network(WPAN) system or terminals. From the circuit simulation the operation of the 7-tap FIR filter is confirmed. The 0.0625-step tap coefficient circuit is designed and fabricated with
CMOS technology. The proposed FIR filter has a variable length of taps and variable coefficients, so it has a potential for being used to frequency selective WPAN system or frequency selective wireless communication terminals.
Factors Influencing Critical Clearing Time in Network Connected to Wind Generation System

Generation of electricity using wind power has received considerable attention worldwide in recent years. In order to investigate the impacts of the integration of wind farm into utilities' network, various studies have been investigated. One such impact is related to the Critical Clearing Time (CCT) of wind power generation system. This paper reports investigation into the factors that influence the transient behavior of the wind power generation system following network fault conditions. It is shown that CCT can be affected by various factors contributed by the network. Such factors include capacity of wind power, power factor, the length of the interfacing line, etc. This investigation is conducted on a simulated grid-connected wind farm using Digsilent Power Factory.
Maximum Torque Control of SynRM Drive with ALM-FNN Controller

The paper is proposed maximum torque control of SynRM drive using adaptive teaming mechanism-fuzzy neural network(ALM-FNN) controller and artificial neural network(ANN). The control method is applicable over the entire speed range and considered the limits of the inverter's current and voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current
for maximum torque operation is derived. The proposed control algorithm is applied to SynRM drive system controlled ALM-FNN and ANN controller, the operating characteristics controlled by maximum torque control are examined in detail. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the ALM-FNN and ANN controller.
A Study on Improving Power Quality by Real-time Reactive Power/Power Factor Compensating Equipment at Substation in Marshalling Yard

In this paper, real-time reactive power/power factor compensating equipment is suggested for improving power quality at electrical railway's substation in marshalling yard and designing optimal capacity of compensating equipment for actual apply at current marshalling yard. For this purpose, several kind of real-time reactive power/power factor compensating equipments are introduced and SVG(Static Var Generator) as optimal compensating equipment that is suitable for load characteristics of substation in marshalling yard is suggested. This paper shows proper simulations by suggested equipment using PSIM software and describe basic compensating principle and simulation results. Optimal capacity design for applying current marshalling yard is based on real measured power quality data. Power quality improvement that is performed by SVG as real-time reactive power/power factor compensating equipment is estimated at electrical railway's substation in marshalling yard. As reference, real-time reactive power/power factor compensating equipment is composed by voltage source inverter and DC capacitors.
Minimized Distance of the Current Electrode in the Measurement of Ground Resistance

As in the measurement of ground resistance by using the 3 point fall-of-potential method, it is known that the distance of current electrode should be at the point of showing the plateu on the potential curve. But the problem is that it my be practically impossible to meet the condition in actual sites. For solving such a situation, this paper provides the least distance of current electrode according to the analysis for the test-field measurement showing that it is feasible to measure the ground resistance in the two in current electrode distance as the length of driven-rod type electrode and the some district length of mesh electrode.
Sensorless Vector Control for Non-salient Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors using Programmable Low Pass Filter

This paper proposes the sensorless vector control scheme of a Non-salient permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) using programmable low pass filter (PLPF) to estimate a stator flux with the information of a rotor position and speed. The sesorless vector control of PMSM using PLPF can solves the dc drift problem associated with a pure integrator and a LPF. Also, the PLPF has the phase and gain compensator to estimate exactly rotor position and speed. Therefore, the information of a position and speed is exactly estimated because the drift and offset problems are solved by the PLPF. The experimental results show good performance over the 10[%] of the rated speed and under load condition.
Analysis on the Effect of Filter to Mitigate Transient Overvoltage on the High Voltage Induction Motor Fed by Multi Level Inverter using EMTP

In this paper, filters are designed to reduce transients overvoltage in inverter fed high-voltage large-capacity induction motor drive system. Design issues for a LCR filter at the inverter output terminals to reduce the dv/dt of the inverter output pulse and a RC filter at the induction motor input terminals to match the characteristic impedance between cable and induction motor are examined in detail. These filters are modeled to be suitable to high-voltage large-capacity induction motor. The performance of the filter is evaluated through simulation using EMTP(ElectroMagnetic Transients Program). We presented filters that used high voltage large-capacity induction Motor on the basis of this. Effect of the filter is analyzed for variation of the cable length. Characteristics of filters are analyzed to reduce harmonic in voltage waveform of induction motor input terminal. The switching surge voltage became the major cause to occur the insulation failure by serious voltage stress in the stator winding of induction motor. Filter for to mitigate transients overvoltage presents a required component in drive system of high-voltage large-capacity induction motor. Also, proposed filters are proved through simulation using EMTP.
A Study on the Control Technology of Ozone Generations

Ozone concentration and flow rate of discharge tube were measured using LabVIEW program in data acquisition part and it was saved. In addition, quantities of ozone generation was adjusted by the collected data, which was performed at control part. Therefore, energy efficiency was improved by suppling quantities of ozone generation according to environmental conditions.

This paper proposes a full fuzzy-logic-based vector control for a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The high-performance of the proposed fuzzy logic control (FLC)-based PMSM drive are investigated and compared with the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller at different conditions, such as step change in command speed and load and etc. In the experimental and simulation the FLC is employed in the speed and current controller. The experimental results show to be a suitable replacement of the conventional PI controller for the high-performance drive system.

The number of confine-disease for elevator increases every year and then sudden stop, error of level indication stand; those can bring to uneasiness of elevator passenger and malfunction accidents related life accident are increasing. So we researched power quality counterplan equipment(SPD, Filter, Reactor) at site elevator controller room and malfunctions of elevator movement. We could confirm installation of power quality counterplan equipment recently and unchanging the number of malfunction. This data will be used the analysis for mutual relation between Power Quality(Sag, Interruption, ESD, ect.) and malfunction of elevator movement by testing the elevator equipment with EN12016(2004) and IEC standard level.
Improvement of Measurement and Selectivity of Hydrogen Gas Using Multi-gas Sensors

In this paper, measurement of hydrogen gas using three kinds of gas sensors were studied for improving selectivity and quantification on hydrogen gas. Output characteristics for each sensors were analyzed to some concentrations of hydrogen gas. It was illustrated that the wide range of hydrogen gas concentrations upto 10,000[ppm] can be reliably measured from investigation of concentration ranges with high amplitudes and good resolutions. Also, the combinations of outputs from three kinds sensors were able to improve the selectivity of hydrogen gas.
A Study on New Inverse Pinch Switch for High Power Transfer

In contrast to the conventional trigatron switch in which the currents are constricted by the z-pinch mechanical the new switch operates in an inverse pinch geometry formed by a pair of spiral electrodes in a sealed-off type. Inverse pinch switch greatly reduces hot spot formations and protects the electrode surfaces. The switch can be initiated with an electrical trigger electrode. Advantages of the new switch over the conventional switches are longer useful life, high current capability and lower inductance due to the dispersed and moving current sheet. These improved characteristics may make the inverse pinch switch suitable for pulse power systems.
Development of the Embedded Wireless LAN Technology for Power Utility Equipments

This paper describes the development of an embedded wireless LAN controller which can be in parallel operated with an existing utility controller. The embedded controller mainly consists of Prism(R) 2.5 chip set and Atmega 128 microcontroller. In order to communicate over the network, the controller including TCP/IP stack (IP, TCP, UDP, and ICMP), telnet, and X/Z modem has been developed. For a specific application, we have proposed an special method to convert data structure between TCP/IP and X/Z modem and a data buffer algorithm to minimize the RAM memory usage. Finally, the correctness and performance of the protocols are tested and verified using
. The development is satisfactorily operated only for 3,381 bytes of RAM usage without sacrificing interoperability between hosts.

In this paper, we present hybrid ARQ techniques to improve the throughput performance in high speed packet transmission such as Internet or multimedia services. In order to evaluate the performance of the three different types of hybrid ARQ schemes, systemized link level simulations based on WWW traffic model are considered. In this paper, we also consider the simulated performance for an average link throughput and a normalized packet delay to compare the hybrid ARQ with link adaptation scheme in GPRS.
Development of Longtime Reliability Assessment Method of Polymer Housed Distribution Surge Arresters using Accelerated Aging Test

In this study we developed accelerated aging test cycle and equipment which can simulate domestic weather condition. And we proposed long term reliability assessment method for polymer housed distribution surge arresters. We carried out electrical and chemical analysis of the arresters which are used for accelerated aging test and outdoor exposure test. Through the analysis we verified the capability of the proposed method and we presented characteristic data for maintenance of domestic arresters.
A Study on a Trajectory of Mast Arm End-Effector

As people's living standard is being improved, human works are being replaced by robots. However, because most robots are used in process industry, fixed on the ground, we need to develop human robots that have wide applications. Currently many researches are being conducted on human robots with the object of replacing human works, but because of lack of relevant hardware, such robots are being applied limitedly to very simple tasks. To overcome the limitation, the present study developed a kinematical mechanism and a controller. Based on human kinematics, the shoulders and the arms were composed of master arms with 3 degree of freedom, and we reproduced motions similar to human ones through the characteristics of joint variables and experiment on the trajectory of the end effector.
Design of Effective Receiver in Wideband-CDMA Systems Using Turbo Code

In this paper, we considered the received signal of the wideband CDMA systems using turbo code in the multipath channel environments, and analyze the performance of the system. This study is to analyze the performance for the variable system bandwidth according to the number of branches of rake receiver by passing the received signal through a rake receiver with a turbo code in Rayleigh fading channel environments. For the design of receiver in wideband CDMA systems, we presented the efficient parameters for the number of iterative decoding and the number of branches of rake receiver.
Breakdown Characteristics of a Model Power Line in the Presence of Combustion Flame

The results of an experimental investigation into the breakdown characteristics of a model power line in the presence of oil flame are reported under the application of 60[Hz] ac and dc high-voltages. It is appeared that flame can reduce by more than half, 80[%] in maximum, the breakdown voltage with the case of h=0 under ac and dc applications. Taking a horizontal model line with a k=0.5 of flame position, it can be seen from the results that the reduction of flashover levels, in comparison with the no-flame case, are 78.6[%] for h=0[cm], 59.7[%] for h=3[cm], 46.9[%] for h=6[cm], 41.5[%] for h=9[cm] and 35.4[%] for h=12[cm] when ac voltage is applied.
Reliability Improvement Considering Effect of Dispersed Generator and Interruption Cost in Distribution Systems

This paper presents a method to improve reliability considering dispersed generator(DG) installation and interruption cost with load types. It is used to the different interruption costs with load pattern of daily peak load. The objective functions such as power losses cost operation cost of DG, power buy cost and interruption cost are minimized for reliability improvement and efficient operation. The several indices for reliability evaluation are improved by dispersed generator installation. The proposed method is applied to IEEE 13 bus test systems to demonstrate its effectiveness.
