Measurement and Analysis for the Lighting Environment of National Museum of Korea

In order to produce a variety of lighting effects most of the modem museums use various light sources in the same space. This indicates, in other words, that each item on display is being exposed to a different lighting environment. There are required, however, different conditions for optimum environments for displaying and preserving items, respectively. In this research visible rays, ultraviolet rays and infrared rays measured in the show cases and display rooms of the National Museum of Korea were analyzed to assess its lighting environment.
Instantaneous Voltage Sag Corrector Controller Design of Power Line System

This paper describes the novel control techniques design of VSC(Voltage Sag Corrector) for the purpose of power line quality enhancement. A fast detecting technique of voltage sag is implemented through the detection of instantaneous value on synchronous rotating dq-reference frame. The first order digital filter is added in the detection algorithm to protect the insensitive characteristics against the noise. The relationship between the total detection time and cut-off frequency of the filter is described. The size of the capacitor bank used as the energy storage element is designed from the point of view of input/output energy with circuit analysis. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is proven through the simulated results.
Modeling and Analysis of the Micro-Grid with SVPWM Micro-Sources

Micro-source units having power ratings in thousands of watts can provide power quality with higher reliability and efficiency than the conventional large scale units. This paper develops switching level model of micro-source and studies the characteristics of the micro-grid consisting of multiple micro-sources and interfaced with electric power system. The developed model adopts the space vector PWM to fully utilize the capacity of inverter. The interaction of the grid connected micro-sources and the characteristics of the control system parameters are investigated. Micro-sources and micro-grid are implemented using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results show that the proposed model is efficient for studying micro-grid system.
A Study of Optimal Modem Algorithm According to Various Channel Fluctuations

Power line for digital home appliances has own property that transmitting power connected to loads. Especially, power line communication(PLC) for the home network which has characteristics of load fluctuation makes variable noise characteristics. It becomes serious problems to maintain efficient communication performance. Thus, in this paper, we present an optimal modulation and demodulation method through mathematical analysis of each measured load fluctuation based on PLC for home appliances. To analyze and compare various modem methods presented in this paper, we analyzed them normally via computer simulation under various noise channel environments according to various load fluctuations. In addition, we certified its availability through hardware implementation.
Study for the Grounding Resistance of the Mesh Grounding Electrode by Water Tank Model

Recently, a number of equipments related with electricity, electronics, and communication in the same building are needed to the grounding system for safety from unexpected accidents. When the faulted electric current flows into a certain grounding system, the potential rise in that system takes place and it might induce the potential rise to other grounding system. This potential interference was strongly affected by the surface potential, which was deeply related with the electrode shape. In this paper, the fundamental formula was deduced on the basis of surface potential of two grounding electrodes. Which corresponds to source of the potential interference and other grounding electrode, respectively. Therefore, the degree of potential interference in this mesh grounding electrode system was verified by the simple model simulation. In addition, in order to identify the difference between the grounding resistance in the realistic construction site and the expected value from the corresponding simulation, the experiment was performed with model on a reduced scale about the realistic grounding system. It consists of stainless steel hemisphere electrodes in a water tank. From this work, the grounding resistance in the mesh grounding electrode showed the good coincidence results between those. Consequently, it is confirmed that the grounding resistance in the mesh electrode is possible to be estimated by performing the experiment using the water tank model.
Output Filler Design for Noise Reduction of Induction Motor Drive System using H-Bridge 7-Level Inverters

In general, the generated harmonics and noise of the PWM inverter are affected by PWM switching method, switching frequency, dv/dt and di/dt. Since multilevel inverters are often applied to the high power system, and operates with low switching frequency, theyproduce large size of harmonic contents and noise. Thus it is necessary to install output filters in the multilevel inverter. In this paper a filter design approach for the harmonic and noise reduction the three phase induction motor driving system using H-bridge 7-level inverter system is presented. The passive filter that has low cost and simple structure and can effectively reduce harmonics and noise, is designed and applied to the three phase induction motor drive having multilevel inverter system. The designed system is implemented and verified by simulation and experiments.
Analysis on the Effect of LCR Filter to Mitigate Transient Overvoltage on the High Voltage Induction Motor Fed by Multi Level Inverter

In this paper, we analyze on the effect of LCR filter to mitigate transient overvoltage on the high voltage induction motor fed by H-bridge cascaded 7-level inverter. The switching surge voltage that it was occurred in inverter appears transient overvoltage at the motor input terminal. the transient overvoltage becomes the major cause to occur the insulation failure by serious voltage stress in the stator winding of high voltage induction motor. The effect of transient overvoltage appears more serious in high voltage induction motor than low voltage induction motor. We selected LCR filter for reduction of the transient overvoltage. Consequently, we demonstrated that the LCR filter connected to the invertor output terminals greatly reduces the transient voltage stress and ringing. The results of simulation show the suppression of transient overvoltage at the motor end of a long cable. using EMTP
Adaptive Fuzzy-Neuro Controller for High Performance of Induction Motor

This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neuro controller for high performance of induction motor drive. The design of this algorithm based on fuzzy-neural network controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy nile as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights between the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive fuzzy-neuro controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of experiment prove that the proposed control system has strong high performance and robustness to parameter variation, and steady-state accuracy and transient response.
Adoptive Feedback Linearization Control of Three-Phase AC/DC Voltage-Source Converter

In this paper, an adaptive input-output linearization and zero dynamics control of three phase AC/DC converter are proposed. For achieving output do voltage regulation with unity power factor, the q-axis current of the rotating d-q frame is regulated to zero and the output do voltage is controlled to track a given reference voltage
. The proposed scheme is robust to the parametric uncertainty md load current of the converter due to the adaptation process. The simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance and feasibility of the proposed control scheme.
The Development of Multi-Fault Restoration Algorithm for Distribution Network

This paper presents the service restoration in electric power distribution systems. The aim of the service restoration is to control an emergency taken place in distribution systems and to restore out-of service areas as soon as possible when a fault occurs in distribution systems. For this reason, new service restoration strategies in multi-outage area are suggested in this paper. The suggested algorithm consist of two schemes. One is an individual restoration scheme, the other is an integrated restoration scheme. The former determines a restoration order of outage areas based on a restoration index. Unless the former scheme can generate a feasible restoration plan, the latter one will try to find out a new configuration without an overloaded section through tie exchange method.
A Study on the Protect Measures and Impact of Electric Pole for Abnormal Tension of Messenger Wire

In this study, we analyzed the influence or electrical pole by FEM(Finite Element Method) and developed protective system by designing and interpreting protective system for electrical pole when abnormal strength worked on messenger wire. Protective system did not shed messenger wire under wind pressure and discontent load but did assign a part to preventing rupture of electrical pole through automatically shed messenger wire over fred strength. Structure of protective system analysis by FEM and prove property by measuring tensile strength for practical product.
Effect of Harmonics on Residual Current Protective Devices

Tripping of residual current protective devices(RCPDs) caused by harmonics has been continuously reported, but no literature is available on the behavior of RCPDs caused by harmonics. This paper, in order to find out the effects of harmonics on RCPDs, investigated the present condition on malfunction of RCPDs and measured harmonics at buildings where nuisance tripping of RCPDs was often occurred. Also, the operational characteristics of RCPDs were tested by the harmonics synthesizer that can generate distorted waveform. Results of experiment detected that there was minimum tripping current of RCPDs when third harmonic added to the fundamental frequency. And it was found that the leakage current to cause tripping of RCPDs increased with more higher order harmonics added to the fundamental frequency.
